All is fair in love and war, right? So why do girl/guy codes seem to make or break a potential relationship? In this episode of 'Adult-ish,' host Afiya uses the time for a little Fifi After Dark to discuss her own unconventional -- and possibly controversial -- thoughts on the ever-popular "girl code" as it related to 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' reality star, Porsha Williams. The peach-holding hottie has been put in some hot water after announcing her new engagement to boyfriend Simon after a month of dating for those not in the know. The shocker? Simon is recently divorced from Porsha's "friend" Fallon. While new details regarding the relationships between all parties involved come to light, many are throwing Porsha under the bus for violating the "girl code," but is she wrong? Should one deny themselves a potential love because of a past relationship that included a "friend"? Of course, we can have a conversation on what it really means to be a "friend," but for right now, the slightly inebriated host is digging into why she thinks these codes are all a ploy for folks with strong emotions versus anything else. *Note: This episode of "Adult-ish" was recorded a week before the Election Day results* The 2020 Election season has been one filled with bigotry, racism, social injustice, and just plain ol' stupidity — and we're getting into it. In this overdue episode of "Adult-ish," host Afiya and co-host Vincent Bernard get together to discuss the circus that our democracy has turned into and the drive to vote more than ever before. Between tackling the current sitting President, to discuss the "gift of whiteness" given to many of the ethnic groups as seen in the current iteration of "Fargo," the duo speak on the divided country we're all living in as well as the real reason Trump supports are waving their banners high in his name. Take a listen — and be sure to return when Part 2 is up and running following the Election results!Links mentioned in this episode:Host: Afiya A.http://twitter.com/lajoliepoeta http://instagram.com/alja0214Co-Host: Vincent Bernardhttps://www.facebook.com/vincent.bernard.543http://instagram.com/vincentbernard_83http://www.twitter.com/vincebernardWhat do you think about Gen Z leading the way to a new light of day? There are many reasons to consider a person a friend, but are looks one of them? For some, this may actually be the case! In this episode of "Adult-ish," host Afiya tackles the topic of an Insta meme with friend and fellow Aquarian, Jen aka the original Hot Mess Mom. The two HS friends mull over the idea of maintaining friendships due to a physical — and possibly romantic — attraction. Do you hang on to friends because you're attracted to them? Do you often find yourself becoming attracted to your friends? And can you maintain a friendship once you've passed the point of attraction and something else has happened? The duo attempt to tackle all these questions as well as dive into the dating pitfalls that may come up when looking at friends in a new light. With a topic so loaded, don't be surprised if this conversation continues in another episode! In this latest episode, "Adult-ish" host Afiya A. brings back the true feel of her "Fifi After Dark" segments with a liquored-up lesson on grief and mourning. In these somber times where death and devastation is all around us due to COVID-19 and racial injustice, host Afiya reminds everyone that we can mourn more than just the loss of someone in the physical space — but in the emotional space, too. While reminiscing on her own recent grieving process, the pseudo adult expresses the hurt and pain one feels when a relationship (be it familial, friendly, or romantic) is over and how society never really allows us to run the gamut of emotions in that respect. Listen on for her slightly less-than-sober thoughts and as always, make sure to share, comment, like, and rate!Links mentioned in this episode:Host: Afiya A.http://twitter.com/lajoliepoeta http://instagram.com/alja0214Adult-ish Podcast http://twitter.com/adultishp0dcasthttp://instagram.com/adultishp0dcastHow do you grieve lost relationships?
