In fact, Dr Felecia was acknowledged by Essence Magazine as one of the leading female obstetrician gynecologists in the nation! But in 2016 she hung up her stethoscope to focus on cannabis advocacy & education full-time and hasn't looked back.I've been a big big fan of Dr Felecia's for a few years now and this will not be her only visit to Feminized podcast, trust me. She's a nurturing source of truth when it comes to cannabis and a breath of fresh air. She's currently writing 2 books, Holistic Medicine & Cannabis, and Women's Health & Cannabis, and once she's done we're having a book club, so get to know her now. She'll quickly become one of your favorite advocates too. Check in with Dr Felecia here! You can also find her on Clubhouse, Twitter and High at 9 News as she helps us make sense of the top medical stories in cannabis. Episode filmed in New Braunfels, Texas & Atlanta, Georgia via Zoom. Today I'm joined by fiery DC insider and founder of Panoptic Strategies, Gretchen Gailey. I loved this conversation!!!! Gretchen is a Cannabis Communications Strategist who works with brands and advocacy groups on promoting the myriad benefits of cannabis to a mainstream, general audience with little to no understanding of the plant, the movement, or the positive effects that embracing more progressive cannabis policy could have. As a former journalist in DC, Gretchen has always been a champion of the truth no matter the cost. Her network is vast and she's spent a lifetime of building trusted sources through sharing and receiving sensitive information with big implications. In 2015 she turned her focus on cannabis through leading research firm New Frontier Data, and has never looked back. She's not a consumer, but a champion of cannabis, to this makes her uniquely positoned to have those conversations with an audience who may still be under the spell of prohibition propaganda. Despite feeling a little imposter syndrome and insecurity about being a first-time business owner, Gretchen pushed through and is now successfully making an impact in service of the people who need the plant. Check out her work here, and don't hesitate to reach out if your cannabis brand needs a little help from a very well connected friend. Episode filmed in New Braunfels, Texas & Washington DC via Zoom. The unstoppable and infinitely impressive cannabis trailblazer Nike John joins me today to talk about what it's like being the youngest and first black woman-owned dispensary in Boston, her cannabis pregnancy plan, and offers truly sage advice to other high-achieving women working to accomplish big big things with no playbook (spoiler alert- start your day with a bubble bath
Today I have the distinct pleasure of sitting down with Estelle Skogstad-Kurk, events manager (aka the first lady of Farechild), to discuss her role as go-to-gal for the hottest events company in cannabis and why she believes that it's more important than ever for women in cannabis to support each other. East Coast raised with a West Coast soul, to me Estelle represents the perfect blend of heart, hustle, authenticity & kindness that would lead to success in any industry, but I'm glad that she chose cannabis!I watched as Estelle ran things like a BOSS IRL at the MJ Biz Farechild Shangri-la party this year and let me just tell you, she's the real freaking deal. So much so that she came all the way from Seattle to Austin a month later to help my team throw the Taste of Texas Hemp Cup and was INVALUABLE. Events are hard, but she makes them look easy, so you'll be happy to hear that she is launching her own events company, ESK, in 2023 if you need help too :)Episode filmed in New Braunfels, Texas & Seattle, Washington via Zoom. AC has over 20 years of professional cannabis expertise serving various aspects within the industry as well as ownership of proprietary Intellectually branded property and patents. She has so much practical knowledge about growing cannabis and finding success in the industry that this conversation is only the first of MANY, trust me ladies. There's just too much goodness to fit into an hour podcast so she will be back on the show soon to dig into specifics about the industry, grow trends, and the NorCal culture. Today I'm proud to introduce you to Bay Area native and cannabis pioneer, Angela White, Equity for Industry Program Manager at Success Centers in San Francisco, California. A graduate of Oaksterdam University, Angela draws from trailblazing experience in cannabis entrepreneurship under California's Proposition 215 medical marijuana program and the recently implemented AUMA adult-use regulatory framework. Angela's first-hand knowledge of the many facets in day-to-day work performed at startups in the space—from cultivation and budtending, retail design and staffing, to dispatching drivers and office management—forms the foundation of her mentorship with aspiring new employees, businesses, and equity entrepreneurs.Currently Angela's focus is developing sustainable career and entrepreneurial paths previously less accessible to communities impacted by inequality and the War on Drugs. I loved speaking with Angela about the growth of the industry and success stories within her very own community, and learning from her deep wisdom of the wounds still healing from the War on Drugs. You will feel hopeful too, and grateful that people like Angela exist on this planet. A Las Vegas Cheeba Hut is where this story thankfully starts, had to get a base-layer down before rolling with the Chamber of Cannabis Queens Tina Ulman and Dani Baranowski for a day of Canna-Business in Sin City! These 2 women co-created the “Dopest Chamber America has ever seen” by bringing together folks working in all facets of cannabis to drive policy, network, and collaborate to create a stronger cannabis industry. No small feat, but after you get to know Tina and Dani in this episode, you'll understand how they did it, and get excited about what's next because they're just getting started. The Chamber of Cannabis is a non-profit organization designed to unite cannabis industry professionals who strive to build a more inclusive industry. They focus on strengthening commerce, improving justice, and positively impacting the cannabis community so that they may lead the state and nation in best practices. The Chamber also provides ample opportunities to connect, share resources, and collaborate with other like-minded folks, so check them out if you're in Vegas and want to find your people. Have you ever considered that when you're enjoying cannabis that you're actually participating in an ancient sacred ritual shared between you and your creator? She's taught online and in-person courses and is passionate about cannabis education - You're going to LEARN today ladies! What separates Kannabis Works from other dispensaries is that they are medically-minded with a huge focus on cannabis wellness. Shelly's goal is to provide physicians and their patient's treatment options with cannabis to fill the gap between big pharma and homeopathic options. It is her mission to change the narrative of the healthcare industry to remove the negative public stigma around cannabis, and she's making incredible progress to that end. Biggest challenges to providing safe access to clean cannabis? Over-regulation and the booming unlicensed market, which you'll learn all about in this episode (you might want to take notes, I did!).LINKS!Kannabis WorksWellness Works Video (about her patient education program!)RESOURCE from Shelly!! It's the last day of June and we're celebrating a golden PRIDE month with 2 of my dearest friends in the space, Jae Graham-Anciso of Austin's most inclusive dispensary MARY JAE, and Bailey Weickum of Redeemer Small Batch, an Austin-based family-owned hemp brand. These 2 LQBTQ brands and their fearless leaders exemplify the power and passion behind the movement and inspire me daily. Their focus is YOUR healing, health, and happiness, not themselves. They are selfless, intelligent, dynamic, and stunning babes who make the challenges of running cannabis businesses as non-cis hetero males look easy (spoiler alert: It's not). So pack a fat J, eat a yummy gummy, or take a tinc, and tap in, you'll love this conversation. On today's episode I get philosophical with Cannabis brand owner, host, tastemaker, and badass Modest Jones! Modest has cultivated a diverse career in brand promotion, modeling, acting, hosting, and basically any role that requires a sparkling personality and killer looks. But she's definitely more than meets the eye and has built a successful career in cannabis through connecting and collaborating with some of the biggest names in the industry. With sponsorships from impressive Las Vegas and Los Angeles brands, Modest most definitely has her finger on the pulse of the west-coast cannabis industry. She also contributes to Vegas Cannabis Magazine, was one of the first people asked to host the 2019 Budtender Awards, is the owner of SeaWeed Sirens™ , co-host of the Vegas Cannabis Awards, and owner of Modest Jones Organic. Y'all, make sure to bring enough cannabis for this EPIC sesh and my longest podcast to date!! **Be sure to check out my exclusive interview with Modest at this year's G4 Live Awards in Las Vegas ONLY on The WeedTube!!LINKS!MODEST JONES.comG4 Live Interview! Friends, this is a special episode that will leave you hanging from a cannabis cliff of customer experience designer Laura Hand of Laura Loo Experience Design. What the heck is “customer experience design”? I wanted to know too! But unfortunately the universe had other plans for us and only allowed us to share HALF of the story…. Stay tuned for part 2 with Laura Loo ;) In the meantime, we get right into her unique customer experience background that she brings into cannabis, and why she really loves working with other female entrepreneurs. We also talk about the super embarrassing way we met OMG I'm still mortified! Ladies & gents, I'm SO THRILLED to announce that today's guest is none other than JOYA G, aka THE JOYA RIDE, a trailblazer cannabis content creator and ½ of the hit podcast 2 Girls 1 Bong! I've been a fan of Joya's for years and have been waiting to sit down and talk with her about her meteoric rise to the top of YouTube cannabis creator mountain with over 120k subscribers, and then move her content to the safety of The WeedTube where you'll find her spreading Joy through hilariously high moments with her bestie MacDizzle420. In this episode you'll learn about Joya's backstory and how she stumbled into cannabis content creation and made it her beeyotch. But you'll also see a different side of Joya - the Joya who loves life behind the camera and event production, and how being in the spotlight gives her a lil' more anxiety than she makes it look on camera. Joya opens up fearlessly and as a result, so do I…there will be tears y'all, be prepared!! I couldn't be more grateful for the time I spent with Joya, and you'll be grateful too. As President of The Sales Joint, seasoned sales shark Francesca Vavala has learned the most effective, most exclusive, and most economical way to sell cannabis to dispensaries, and works with growers across the country to make their dreams of seeing their flower on shelves of some of the top dispensaries in the world, a reality. Her “No one grows alone” mantra resonates with not only growers but cannabis business owners of all kinds, and as a result, she's built a robust network and has insane insight into the cannabis industry as a whole. In this episode you'll learn about how she evolved into this role after starting out as a high school English Teacher, and why she chose to make cannabis her life's work. You won't believe her heartfelt and beautiful story about her inspiration, and she will make you look at sales in a whole new light. She will change your entire perspective on SALES and give you new hope if you're struggling with bringing a cannabis product to market. You can't afford to miss this episode so load up a bowl and tap in, and have some tissues ready. Love this girl. Midwest sweetie Cari Carmona wrote a paper about why cannabis should be legal in the 7th grade and she's never stopped working on behalf of the plant ever since. As the Chief Marketing Officer of Kosmik Brands, one of the leading edibles brands in the country and the first Oklahoma brand to go national, Cari is proud of the brand she has helped build and the award-winning products they create. In fact, watch or listen to this episode after eating because hearing about the next level flavors and ingredients Kosmik is known for will have your mouth watering. In this episode you'll hear about her destined path to work in cannabis, starting at DOPE Magazine and then moving to High Times, and why she moved her family from California, the epicenter of weed, to completely uncharted cannabis territory, Oklahoma. Her story will inspire you to honor the voice in your head even though you may be afraid, because the Universe has got your back and is guiding you even on the darkest days. Love this episode so much for so many reasons and no, it's not because we had hella technical difficulties and always found a way to overcome them. It's because there's just so much goodness shared between 2 friends who are working hard to educate their conservative communities about the power of the plant. AND of course we smoke a lotta ganja in the process!Ariana Newton is a cannabis content creator, educator, and marketer in Missoula, Montana, and the Chief Operating Officer of The WeedTube, a social video platform intentionally built as a safe space for the cannabis community. With Wana gummies in almost every major market and an acquisition by Canopy Growth pending, we talk about the products she's most excited about at the moment, her origin story and path to success, and why the number of women executives in the cannabis industry are dwindling.
