I'm so stoked about this week's episode because I get to share some truly great friends with you! First up is Allen Miller, a former University of Georgia team captain, 2-time Walker Cup competitor, and Canadian Amateur Champion, where he dominated the field by 10 strokes. He also had an impressive career on the PGA Tour. He T15 at the 1975 Masters, which was one of the most memorable Masters Tournaments ever. Allen was a top competitor on Tour for well over a decade. Beyond his playing career, Allen's story is one of resilience. He overcame personal struggles, particularly with a father who never thought anything he did was good enough—something that pushed him into a deep depression. His journey was so compelling that Sirius/XM's PGA Tour Channel featured it in a special called The Allen Miller Story. I highly encourage you to check it out—it's a story that could truly change lives. We dive into Allen's playing career, dealing with his father, and ultimately becoming one of the Top Instructors in the game. Then, I welcome back a longtime friend of the show, Bob Friend Jr., who has been a part of Next on the Tee since episode #3—12 years ago! A Pittsburgh native and one of the all-time greats in the Western PA & Tristate area, plus out on the PGA Tour. Bob has a deep understanding of what it means to be a grinder. With major changes coming to the PGA Tour next year, including restrictions on Tour cards and Monday qualifiers, Bob is the perfect person to break it all down. No one worked harder to earn their spot on Tour than Bob, and you'll hear his take on how these changes will impact future players. Plus, as a lifelong Steelers fan, I get his thoughts on where the team needs to go from here. This episode is packed with inspiration, golf wisdom, and insights into the state of the game—so settle in and enjoy the conversation!

In Part 1 of this week's show, I'm joined by LPGA Elite Instructor Cindy Miller and former Atlanta Falcons WR Brian Finneran. Cindy Miller was recognized as an Elite LPGA Professional & Instructor at the PGA Merchandise Show earlier this year. We hear about that honor. On the heels of the tragic news of Grayson Murray, Cindy shares the story of her husband Allen Miller who found himself in a similar dark place. Allen was a top Amateur player in the early 70s. He played on the PGA Tour from the mid-70s to early 80s. He competed in 5 Masters Tournaments. The expectations of his father always haunted him. No matter what Allen achieved it was never good enough. It led Allen into some dark places. He attempted suicide which led him and Cindy to the brink of divorce. Hear his story as told from Cindy's perspective. Brian Finneran was an All-American WR at Villanova. He won the Walter Payton Award for being the best player in FCS College Football in 1997. He was an undrafted free agent signed by the Seattle Seahawks. He played in the NFL from 1999 to 2010 with the Eagles and Falcons. Brian is now a Sports Talk Radio Host at 680 The Fan in Atlanta. I get his insights on the Falcons draft and our shared dismay at why they selected Michael Penix with the 8th overall pick. We also discuss Angel Hernandez doing baseball a favor by retiring, plus we hear about Brian's round of golf at Augusta National.
A candid conversation with Liam Burns, the new and first ever 2SLGBTQIA+ CEO and Executive Commissioner of Scouts Canada. We discuss the changes within the organization and the work being done to support youth across Canada. Plus! Another bumper episode of the Empire Podcast this week, folks, as Chris Hewitt chats with Raine Allen-Miller and Vivian Oparah, director and star respectively of the effervescent new rom-com, Rye Lane. This may actually be the first pod interview where one of us is on a boat. Which one? Find out by listening! Then Chris sits down for a chat about movies and movie history with Marlowe star, Liam Neeson, and there's a taster of our Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania spoiler special interviews with that film's director, Peyton Reed, and writer Jeff Loveness. The spoiler special itself will be up on Monday. Then, in the virtual podbooth today, Chris is joined by Helen O'Hara and James Dyer for a fun episode that celebrates all things St. Patrick, discusses the greatest living Irish actors (and probably leaves out someone incredible), talks about the Oscars, James Gunn directing Superman Legacy, Quentin Tarantino's final film, and more, and reviews Rye Lane, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods, 65, Boston Strangler and Ti West's Pearl. We've specified his name here because we think we forgot to mention him in the review. D'oh! Whether you're on a boat or dry land, this is a belter. Enjoy!
Sam Clements speaks to director Raine Allen-Miller about her new film, Rye Lane, in cinemas now! From breakout director Raine Allen-Miller, RYE LANE is a romantic comedy that stars Vivian Oparah (Class, The Rebel) and David Jonsson (Industry, Deep State), as Yas and Dom, two twenty-somethings both reeling from bad break-ups, who connect over the course of an eventful day in South London - helping each other deal with their nightmare exes, and potentially restoring their faith in romance. Rye Lane is a charming, energetic and funny romantic film that follows Dom and Yas, both twentysomethings going through bad breakups. They meet at a friend's art show and roam around South London, helping each other deal with their exes while having crazy adventures and restoring their faith in romance. The movie premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, opened wide in the UK and is set to stream on Hulu March 31. When she received the script for Rye Lane, direct Raine Allen-Miller knew she wanted to set the film in South London, a very vibrant, colorful place with lots of interesting characters. She loves movies by fellow British director Steve McQueen, and counts him as an influence on her work. Raine wanted her film to be funny and entertaining while still looking beautiful and “juicy” throughout. Rye Lane is Raine's first feature, and she creates an energetic, colorful and happy world where, once Dom and Yas meet, they simply have fun together. It was important to her that Black people be captured in a way that's positive, funny and goofy, and that people have a great time watching the film. Cinematographer Olan Collardy grew up in Nigeria and later moved to South London, where he met Raine while working on commercials. He says that Raine brings a beautiful sandbox to play in, with her love of color and interest in creating a very energetic, stylized, modern look to the film. They worked together to ensure that the camera was always in the right place to play up the humor- if it wasn't funny, it wasn't functional. Olan used extremely wide anamorphic lenses to add a touch of the surreal to the shots. They were influenced by the British comedy Peep Show, getting very close on a wide lens while the actor looks slightly above the lens so they don't break the fourth wall. Olan was influenced by Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing, which is also very rich in color and about a very specific place. Rye Lane is in theaters in the UK and will be streaming on Hulu on March 31. In today’s episode of the AWW Shift Podcast, our guest is Cindy Miller. She is a professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour and is married to former PGA Tour Golfer, Allen Miller. She is a Certified Behavior, Motivation, and Emotional Intelligence Professional. She is also a speaker and author and currently plays in the Legends Tour. Her journey to being a professional golfer was filled with ups and downs but nonetheless, Cindy managed to rise from the top and reach her dreams, and today she will share with us what obstacles she faced and what adversities she had to overcome in her journey to success. [5:16] What do you do on a daily basis? I give golf lessons at Buffalo, New York. We work in a public driving range. My husband and I are the only married couple in the world that played on the PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, Champions Tour, and Legends tour. We're also certified behavior analysts and motivation people so we do a lot of corporate training with companies who have people that are unmotivated and underperforming and I love unlocking potential. [6:37] Before Success and Being Driven I don't know why I'm so driven. I'm a competitive control freak who I grew up in a household where my parents played golf and they would drag me to the country club. The pool was my babysitter and I would go swimming. They would drink at the bar, go home, and fight. I had to call the cops on my father when I was just 10 because I thought he was going to kill my mother so I grew up petrified my whole life. [7:17] I knew my dad loved me and he would always tell me that I can do anything. And he was an entrepreneur. I was just petrified that he was going to kill my mother because I walked in one time and he had a knife to her throat so I don't know why I'm so driven. [7:48] My only other option was the golf course and I was actually pretty good at it. My mom took me to an LPGA Tour event when I was 17 years old and I saw Laura ball who was a year older than me and I was awestruck. I thought “that's what I'm going to do and I'm going to beat her” so I came home and I said I want to play on the LPGA Tour. [9:36] I was running away from my house and running towards a dream. [9:41] What separates you from others? I was willing to be humble. I would sit and watch all the superstar scholarship athletes that were supposed to be great and I would go, “What do they do that I don't do? What do they do better that I don't do right now?” I would sit and watch them take golf lessons then I would go hit balls, then I would watch them play in tournaments. [10:55] I asked for help. So many people are too proud to be okay with sucking. Look in the mirror and say “what do I need to do to get better?”. I qualified to play on that team in the top five and that's where we won our first national championship so I think you have to be willing to be humble and look in the mirror and ask for help. [11:49] The transition from College to Professional Golfer I went to the qualifying school and I missed my three. It's not like you're really bad, you're just not good enough so I got in the car and I drove to California by myself to play on the mini-tour to get experience and to learn how to play so I could qualify the next year, which I did. [13:19] While I was at the University of Miami, I met Alan Miller who played on the PGA Tour for 15 years. He's played in the Masters five times. We just became golf buddies and then we ended up getting married so I went from LPGA Tour player to PGA Tour wifey pool. That was a blessing and I thought if I can't be the star, I'll make him a star. [14:05] Marriage Alan becomes an alcoholic who uses booze as a way to hide himself. He ends up quitting the tour and we end up teaching golf at a public driving range of Buffalo starting every year at zero. We've got kids and he tries to commit suicide so I file for divorce and the whole thing's just falling apart. [15:33] I had filed for divorce and we went to divorce court but I lost the divorce. He had been in mental hospitals twice and he quit drinking but he was so depressed. So he goes away. They don't file the papers in the courthouse and Alan comes back. [18:03] Cindy’s it box How bad does it have to hurt to be willing to move and to do so? [18:24] You have to be willing to look in the mirror and say “Who am I? What are my strengths? What are my weaknesses?” You need this strength in that weakness and that weakness in the strength. It helps you know who you are and what you want to do. [18:57] Once you know why you're here, what you want, and who you are, you have to do something about it. You have to plant a seed and start working on it. [20:01] You need to stop digging it up to see if it's growing. Leave it alone and put it in the light. Water it and nurture it. If you do, there is no telling how good it will end. [20:37] I don't want to have to teach somebody who doesn't want to learn because I'm not going to make you do something you don't want to do. I want to help people that want to get better and better. If you're going to whine about why you're not better then I'm not your coach. [22:02] Just being yourself Everybody's born for a reason. Everybody's got gifts and talents. I've tried to act like I'm real professional, and I trip and fall and spill stuff on me. Just be you or be the best you. [22:42] How often do you care about other people's thoughts? I will help anybody who wants to help themselves. I feel as though I have a gift and even if you doubt yourself, come here because I'm going to make sure that you know that you can do this. But you have to get off the nail, look in the mirror, do something about it, and plant a seed. [23:28] I used to care about what people think and sometimes I do and I shouldn't. But that's not my heart. My heart is to help people. You have to be able to repel the ones that aren't supposed to work with you and attract the ones that are. Anybody that is willing, I'm willing. [24:21] What promise did God make to the world when He created you? “Here's my girl Cindy. She's gonna love people. She's gonna help them learn to believe in themselves once she learns to believe in herself on what she has done now.” Key Quotes: [13:03-13:06] “If you ask somebody for help, most of the time they'll give it to you.” [17:02-17:08] “I believe you're born for a reason. So it is your potential, your passion, possibly your purpose in life.” [22:54-22:57] “You got to treat people the way you want to be treated,” Know more about Cindy Miller on: WEBSITE: https://cindymillergolf.com/ FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/cindy.miller.9231 LINKEDIN: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cindymillergolf/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/cindymillergolf YOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/user/thecindymillergroup INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/cindymillergolf/

In this episode we feature two tracks from Fourum's popular music and Susan talks to Jim Jack about how the band started in 1972 and quickly grew in popularity. The name of the band came initially from the latin word Forum meaning a meeting place, with the addition of the extra letter U to distinguish from other groups. It also reinforces the setup of the band which over the years has predominantly had four main performers. About the Guests: The group began with four members: Allen Miller, Jim Jack, Bob Hattersley and Dave Smith, who all worked together teaching at Hummersknott school in Darlington. The lineup changed over the next few years and then settled with the addition of Sandy Still in 1978. Most of their original songs were written and composed by Allen Miller and more recently Rod Hall has contributed with some of his creations and is now a member of the band. Sadly Bob Hattersley passed away in 2010 and as an ongoing tribute to him Fourum raise funds for Cancer Research, around £16000 so far. As Christians we are often surprised by grief or loss. Our understanding of “all things work together for good” is that my suffering will be minimal and if I do go through intense suffering I will have a full recovery shortly thereafter much like Job or Joseph. So when we have a permanent loss whether it be financial loss, failure of a relationship, injury or illness, death of a loved one, or a prodigal child, our faith is shaken, we wonder if we are being disciplined/punished for some sin in our past, and we drift away from the God we thought we loved. The goal of this session is to first identify the wrong theology and expectations that we bring to grief, loss and suffering and understand how they make the suffering even more difficult. Then we will learn how to cry out (yes complain, lament) to God and go on to find peace and hope in the middle of that grief in the arms of our Savior.

Michael Senoff's Talk Yourself Rich Audio Marketing Secrets Podcast
Like so many of my other listeners, Curtis was interested in the Allen Miller interview about making a great business out of buying and selling old trailer homes. Unfortunately, Allen never did create an information product about the trailer home opportunity. However, I advise Curtis that I have found an information course on the exact same business that he could obtain from me. We discussed a few information product ideas that Curtis has. His ideas are sound and you’ll hear me give my best advice about ways to make his information products special and unique and why this is of the utmost importance. One of Curtis’ other questions had been about my invisible ink pen manufacturing business opportunity. If you haven’t seen it yet on my web site or listened to the audios I have on the subject, you may want to take the time to absorb the information I have available. Like I advise Curtis, the market is still wide open and in this consultation you’ll hear more on the subject as well as some insider information about some new opportunities to sell thousands of these invisible ink pens. Now comes the fun part! Earlier in the interview, Curtis and I were talking about some of the barbeque shows shown on television. Apparently, Curtis and I share a common passion for barbequing. All of this talk got me thinking about the creation of an information product containing interviews with up to twenty of the top barbeque pit masters and some of their best barbeque secrets. Curtis loved the idea! You’ll hear my advice about ways to get interviews with the top pit masters, different methods to market and promote the product, and even some joint venture ideas that I came up with to work with Curtis on this mouth-watering opportunity. You’ll even hear a short audio at the end where Curtis updates me on his progress toward making this idea into a reality along with my advice about how to prepare for great interviews. As always, my advice can be applied to any information product so, if you want a fun audio to learn from, this would be the one for you! This is an exclusive interview from Michael Senoff at www.hardtofindseminars.com.
