Syda Segovia Taylor is a champion for social justice, wellness and healing. From a student at UIC, to a dance teacher and health advocate. She's been fighting for what's right since she was a young girl. Her parents and her family came to America because they thought "you can do anything here". But she learned very quickly: wait, no you can't! She realized early on that it wasn't as simple as her parents had thought or planned. And that began her journey to social justice. She began to ask questions and look around - trying to see who needed help to fit in, and become more. Then she beat cancer, and wanted to see how she could use that experience to help others and be of service. She became much more aware of wellness and appreciating life. Now, she wants to build a fortress of wellness, joy and strength. Her best advice during our chat: We're all gems in a mine; keep chipping away until you discover the gem. Figure out the tools you need to help you shine, but keep the rest of humanity in mind. More about Syda: Syda Segovia Taylor has 25 years of experience connecting opportunities with Black and Latino youth and families in Chicago. She prides herself of being a social justice advocate by promoting the oneness of humankind, environmental justice and physical/spiritual health. Syda is the founder and executive director of a nonprofit called Organic Oneness established in 2019. Together with her 9 board members, countless volunteers and multitude of community partners, they promote the interconnectedness of all people and the Earth through community trainings, programs, and events. Through Organic Oneness, Syda is also promoting a “Fortress of Wellness” to help social activist prevent illness, burn-out, and compassion fatigue. “We are a part of one world and every race, age and gender are needed to advance society. Episode One opens at Abdu'l-Baha's funeral, a funeral unlike any the Holy Land had ever seen. Tens of thousands of people lined the streets of Haifa to pay homage to one they considered as the benevolent father to all. The series recounts Abdu'l-Baha's early years using the words of his devoted sister Bahiyyih, and tells the story of Baha'u'llah's acceptance of the message of the Bab, which caused the family's life to be thrown into turmoil. Baha'u'llah – cruelly incarcerated for four months in a dark underground dungeon – received the first intimations of his own Divine mission there. Abdu'l-Baha was the first to recognize his father's station as a messenger of God. For the next 40 years of exile and banishment and thereafter, the personal and tender care for others that was already a part of Abdul-Baha's personality became a daily, defining feature of the rest of his life. Join us as we explore the powerful life and profound teachings of Abdu'l-Baha.Credits:Narrated by Parisa Fitz-Henley and Rainn Wilson, with contributions from Michael Day, Hooper Dunbar, and Lesley Taherzadeh O'MaraFeaturing the voices of Penn Badgely, James Gillies, and Forouz MasrourWritten and produced by Rob Weinberg and Nathan RainsfordAssistant Editor: Noah MatthewsExecutive producers include Rainn Wilson, Shahin Sobhani, Steve Sarowitz Maia Reneau and Ford Bowers for Spring Green Media, in collaboration with 239Days.com and BahaiTeachings.org.

Hello and welcome to the Baha’i Blogcast with me your host, Rainn Wilson. In this series of podcasts I interview members of the Baha’i Faith and friends from all over the world about their hearts, and minds, and souls, their spiritual journeys, what they’re interested in, and what makes them tick. In our 40th episode of the Baha'i Blogcast, we thought we'd do something a little different by sharing an audio version of an animation called 'An Introduction to the Baha'i Faith'. I worked on this animation with Baha'i Blog and our friends at BahaiTeachings.org and SwissVBS, and we published it about a month ago – just in time for the 200th anniversary of the Birth of the Bab celebrations happening around the world. It's been really well received with over a million views so far, and seeing as so many of us are consuming content in audio format nowadays, we thought it would be useful to create an audio version for the Baha'i Blogcast with a little personal commentary from yours truly, at the beginning and at the end. I hope you find this episode both interesting and useful! Watch the animation, and check out other related links below: *Here's the animation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLSaDVG4yBE * Here's a link to the article I wrote explaining the project and the thought process behind the script: https://bit.ly/2LYFvmm * And here's Naysan Naraqi's article about some of the behind-the-scenes as well: https://bit.ly/35pVqSf *Find out more about SwissVBS here: https://swissvbs.com/ * Find out more about the Bab and the bicentenary celebrations of His Birth happening around the world here: https://bicentenary.bahai.org/the-bab/ Be sure to subscribe to the Baha’i Blogcast for more episodes on: * YouTube: bit.ly/2JTNmBO * iTunes: apple.co/2leHPHL * Soundcloud: @bahaiblogcast * Spotify: spoti.fi/2IXRAnb If you would like to find out more about the Baha'i Faith visit BAHAI.ORG, and for more great Baha'i-inspired content check out BAHAIBLOG.NET: bahaiblog.net/ Thanks for listening! -Rainn Wilson

In this episode, Cloud9 interviews Canadian producer, composer, and musical director Jack Lenz. Born in a small Saskatchewan town, Jack first learned about the Baha’i Faith while attending university, through his fine art professor and renowned artist Otto Don Rogers. Soon after, he found himself on the road with other young Baha’is writing music and performing for Jalal, a band formed to share the teachings of Baha’u’llah through music across Canada. This landed him a gig touring with the 70’s musical duo Seals & Crofts, and found him sharing the same teachings to even larger crowds around the world.
