Today I interviewed singer, songwriter and owner of Anise record label Beth Griffith Manley. She has sang background for the legendary and iconic Anita Baker and singer KEM. You may have seen her on season 16 of The Voice on Team John Legend and Kelly Clarkston or know her as the daughter of Motown royalty. Her dad was original funk brother pianist, Johnny Griffith and played on so many iconic Motown hits. BETH has a new single "Let Me Be" dropping March 22nd, and on April 15th a cover of Sade's Kiss of Life will be released. It is a collaboration with musician Blair Bryant, who is a prodigy and a musical director for NAJE'. BETH's second album Get To Know Me will be dropping in June. BETH is just your typical black woman blazing trails. In this episode, I will have a conversation with my friend Blair Bryant Nichols as we dive into the power of telling and sharing your story. This podcast episode that I particularly love because one Blair has been an amazing friend to me but two at look at the truth behind his message and his mission about wanting to have conversations and give people the power and the ability to share their stories. I think that as human beings, storytelling, whether it be at the campfire at the dinner table, has always innately been a part of who we are. And I believe that we all have the space; we all deserve the space to share our stories, insights, dreams, and missions with the world. Do you ever feel like you have a story that you want to tell, and somehow even though you feel called to do it, you can't seem to go through with it? Building off of more than 100 years of music history, Blair Bryant is a young jazz musician in an old genre's world. However, he's creating something new and all his own, pulling from both the roots of the once-popular jazz era as well as from modern influences and his own creativity. The 25-year-old already has four albums, several radio singles, and has gotten major attention from some of Kansas City's most prominent publications. Listen to Bryant talk about his beginnings, his successes and a condition that helps him see the color of the music around him in this episode.

Blair Bryant is a 24-year-old emerging contemporary-jazz artist, currently signed to the Innervision Records Label. He is a musical prodigy, plays over 14 instruments and is a prolific, writer and producer.  Shawn Kingsberry is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, and producer from Kensington, Maryland. Shawn has been in the business for over 30 years, also a technology leader, making for an exciting conversation as "MUSIC IS TECHNOLOGY TODAY." In the past, Shawn has worked with many industry music camps like Teddy Riley, Left Eye, Blair Bryant, and TJ and Chuck Thompson, to name a few.  This week a new release single titled "Say Yes," a blend of Smooth Jazz and Go-Go. Kingsberry is originally from the Washington Metropolitan Area "DVM," where Go-Go music is the and will always be the culture of music here. He played with many Go-Go bands over the years and decided to blend Smooth Jazz with Go-Go. Kingsberry has an uncanny ability to merge digital and analog instrumentation to create his inimitable blend of smooth jazz, neo-soul, and R&B.Another new released single DRIVE, which George Benson inspired. The title DRIVE came from the vibe you feel when listening to it as you feel like you are on the open road driving. He aims to compose purposely uncomplicated musical scores. He explains, “I bridge the gap between the virtual and physical worlds of music with the goal of setting my listeners free to experience what is real. Shawn's love of music surfaced early in his youth and acted as a guiding rhythm to his life. His mother, Ida Kingsberry was a central and vital influence on him. She introduced all of her children to music and modeling at an early age. Shawn began learning various instruments starting with the drums in elementary school.  Shawn began his musical journey in high school, playing in an R&B band with his brother Michael.
