We're continuing our break from examining government-imposed feminist initiatives in the military and their expense (and everything else at USAspending.gov) to take a look at a recent article about the Sisterhood of Sisterhoods: The National Organization for Women.

Clare County Council's roads maintenance budget for this year has seen the Shannon Municipal District's funding allocation slashed by 7% to €2.92 million. It means Clare's second most populated municipal district accounts for just 10% of the overall budget. Newmarket-on-Fergus Fianna Fáil Councillor David Griffin says it's unacceptable that the "thriving economic base" has seen its funding cut.

If you want an ad-free experience, you can subscribe below underneath the show description. The practice of pharmaka, or preparation of biological ingredients into medicines or poisons, was once thought to be an act of sorcery or magic due to the way such things altered the body and mind. The word pharmaka comes from the Greek pharmakeia, meaning “practice of the druggist,” and is based on pharmakon, meaning “drug.” From the Greek we derive the words pharmacy, pharmaceutical, and pharmacology. Since men were traditionally hunters, the women would gather roots, herbs, flowers, and plants to cultivate powders, potions, and medicines. Pharmaceutical companies today are modern magicians using plants to alter the body and mind. The new use for a drug called Xolair, to limit allergic reactions, is the latest act of this sorcery. Although possibly life-saving, taking these drugs does not get to the root source of why we are allergic to this or that. The same can be said of the popular drug ozempic, or even over-the-counter anti-lactose pills.
