Part 1: Project 2025This segment is Arnie Arnesen discussing the outline for the future of the US as envisioned by the Republicans. It is a plan to radically change the government of the US according to the goals of the Heritage Foundation and its supporters and fellow travelers. There are hundreds of policy objectives outlined in the 900+ pages of the document. We discuss some of the identified “leaders” for the future, as seen by the GOP. They are governors and others. Gov. Abbott of Texas one of the richest, is among them. Arnie compares the politics of the past with what is currently taking place. Part 2: We talk with Harold Meyerson, of The American Prospect, and Bill Curry, former head of Freeze Nuclear and two time candidate for Connecticut governor. We discuss the state of the US Supreme Court. Its recent rulings show the Court to be looking backward, rather than forward in history. The Court is willing to use old, questionable “zombie” laws to justify rulings that are unreasonable, according to law and the Constitution. The Court has had no Code of Ethics, and the current Code is unenforceable. The American people are being let down by this Court, and its unpopularity reflects this. We also discuss NYC politics, and its mayor, Eric Adams. One of Giuliani's deputies has been proposed as City Counsel by Adams, a nod to the old “political machine”. Other hires by Adams are suspect. Bruno opened his first company in Milan, selling fish and caviar to high-end restaurants. His extensive travels around the world helped him appreciate fine food and design and eventually led him to Chicago in 1999, where he combined his passions. In Chicago, Bruno brought together his vision to marry authentic Italian cuisine with a modern design when he opened his first restaurant Follia, in the meatpacking district and currently, Tocco in Winnetka. The concept was simple, make authentic Italian Cuisine with the finest ingredients and give diners an experience like they were in Italy. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lakeforestpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lakeforestpodcast/support

REMEMBER THIs, Jan Karski: “Humans have infinite capacity to ignore things that are not convenient”. We're back for our final week of Women's History Month, with another mixed bag show. We wrap up March with a bit of a look back for co-host Kerry's recent discussion of feeling the stigma of finishing her education late and feeling behind everyone. And reviewing the guests (Rebecca Singh and Daniella Mestyanek Young) who joined us in the first half of the month. But while the quote above was said by a Polish-Catholic man, who found himself in an extreme circumstance and who worked in the underground to warn the world about what the Nazis were doing to the Jews of Europe/specifically in Poland, discrimination anywhere, of any kind can grow if enough people look the other way. the local headline in London, Ontario when advocates and riders are pushing City Counsel to do more to improve paratransit: “Paratransit fails to get some disabled Londoners to meeting about fixing dysfunctional system”, Daryl Newcombe, CTV News, March 6 Isn't that just horribly hysterical? We discuss what paratransit is and a little about our own experiences using it in the past and about some of the resistance the counsel has been showing during the process, but there's got to be a way and we will share more updates on that in the weeks ahead. We also hear from Kerry's new phone. Listen to see if you can catch it, along with some signature sibling bickering thrown in there. Also, talk co-host Brian's early instrument practice on the trumpet comes up plus Kerry's clarinet too. And about Brian's draft night/season of fantasy baseball starting on his birthday here, he shares about the strangeness of being into a hubby others are not; though the earlier quote was from World War II, this draft is about sports, not war. So check out our mixed bag of topical goodies here, last but not least ending the show with a tribute to disability activist Judy Heumann (rest in peace), as we wave goodbye to March. Interview with "Miss Nneka" "My name is Nneka “Miss Neka” Cleaver and over the last 10 years I have worked towards building our community and created the relationships needed to get things accomplished. I currently work with or have worked with the Mayor, City Manager, DA office, Sheriff Office, Constable Precinct 4 Office, State Rep 119 (which makes up half of the Eastside), District 10 office, County Clerk, County Commissioners and several Judges within our Judicial system. These relationships have allowed me to help with community concerns, start and or support programs and opened the door for opportunity, education and growth. I have been a part of District and City-wide change: I lead the charge in making Juneteenth a recognized SA Holiday and in turn a paid holiday for SA employees. I worked with the DA to create a community panel that helps with accountability within the DA office. I work with community partners to fill gaps needed in the district i.e., Community radio station, D2 Resource Guide and Eastside Chamber of Commerce. I have been involved with the District 2 community non-stop; not only have I sat on community boards and been a part of community organizations. I have been a community partner with YMCA, HEB and Goodwill for several years and work with our community centers, initiatives, schools, churches, small business and big business in the area. I understand how our city Government works and I understand the needs of the community in all 4 corners of the District. It is time for the residents of District 2 to have a strong voice, proactive leadership and complete involvement in what is going on in the community. I want to provide effective leadership that stands up for what the constituents want and need for our District to prosper." Park City Mayor Andy Beerman joined me this afternoon and shared some of his history, both personal and professional. Andy served on the City Counsel before responding to a call from former-Mayor Dana Williams to run himself. In October of 2017 the City Council of Park City voted unanimously to approve a net-zero energy performance requirements for all municipal buildings and facilities. According to the City’s website, “[a]s of 2017, we are offsetting approximately half of our electricity consumption with Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) through our utility. Our goal is to bring new renewables online to power 100% of our municipal operations by 2022, and hence bring our Scope 2 emissions to zero. In the meantime, we are electrifying our bus fleet, which temporarily raises our footprint, but will drop it to zero once the renewables come online.”Andy shared his passion about Park City, the environment, history, climbing, philosophy and the old Wednesday evening concerts in the Park, next to the old Miner’s Hospital. He also spoke candidly about the uncertain challenges we face, and optimistically about those same things.I started the show discussing my 1997 move to Utah, moose(s) sightings and a 1986 United States Department of Interior Nomination Form - National Register Historic Places (Ecker Hill Ski Jump, Summit County, Utah).

Brittany recently ran for City Counsel in her town and shares with us her thoughts on small town politics and what she learned from the experience. She talked about her philosophy that you miss 100% of the shots that you do not take, and I loved her ideas about this. It's ok if you do not win everything and there is still so much to learn and take from these experiences. You can learn more about these amazing sisters on their website: www.theamericanmoms.com or follow them on Instagram @theamericanmoms. I am so grateful to have had them on the show and I wish you all a very happy 4th of July. Please remember to learn about events that are happening in the world and in your area and always vote in every election! Your voice matters and is important!
