Today's True Weird Stuff - Human Cloning   In the previous episode of True Weird Stuff, we told the story of Raëlism, the religious UFO cult led by Claude Vorilhon. We're now diving into one of their core beliefs: that Jesus was resurrected through cloning and humans need to perfect human cloning to achieve immortality. That would lead to a claim made in 2002 by a scientific company created by Raëlians that the first human clone had been born. 

Today's True Weird Stuff - The Messenger   This is the story of a man who created a religion around UFO's. Claude Vorilhon was a journalist who claimed he was abducted by aliens in 1973. He said they told him humans were created by extraterrestrial species using advanced technology, and then they renamed him Raël and sent him back to Earth to serve as ambassador to their faith. And thus, Raëlism was born.

Raelism, or the Raelian Movement, is another UFO religion and claims to be the largest. The Raelians are the followers of a cult founded in 1974 by the French auto racing journalist Claude Vorilhon. They have had two symbols to represent their cult; a swastika embedded on the Star of David, which was later replaced by a variant star and swirl symbol. They seek to use cloning as a way to achieve immortality. They founded Valiant Venture Ltd Corporation in 1997, to research human cloning. The company changed its name later to Clonaid. The government of France classifies the Raelian Movement as a "secte," meaning "cult."Claude Vorilhon wrote, "The Message Given by Extra-Terrestrials: At Last Science Replaces Religion," and some other books. Vorilhon, now known as Rael (meaning, "messenger of the Elohim") as he is now known, was allegedly contacted by aliens and told many mysteries; such as life was originally established upon earth some 22,000 +/- years ago through genetic manipulation by extraterrestrials. These aliens desire to return to earth - at Jerusalem in the yet to be built Elohim Embassy where a one world government will be established with is a single currency, language, etc.Support the show

On December 13, 1973 French automobile journalist and race car driver Claude Vorilhon purportedly experienced a physical encounter with what he believed to be an extraterrestrial human. This celestial being, which referred to itself as Yahweh, allegedly claimed to be a representative of a civilization from another solar system within the Milky Way referred to as the Elohim (meaning “Those who come from the sky”). Yahweh apparently went on to describe in detail how the Elohim were advanced scientists responsible for creating all life on Earth 25,000 years ago using DNA and advanced genetic engineering, eventually creating man in their own image. Vorilhon claimed that Yahweh also revealed to him that members of the Elohim appeared as terrestrial humans throughout history when having encounters with descendants of the humans they created in order to purposefully mislead them into believing that they were angels, cherubim, or gods. Prophets or messengers of the Elohim apparently included Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad among others. Vorilhon purported to have been informed that he was in fact the last prophet, and was given the final message of the Elohim conveying to him that their purpose is to bring global awareness about the Elohim, and that if humans become peaceful and aware enough, they are prepared to return to Earth and be welcomed by all of humanity. Following his extraterrestrial encounter, Vorilhon changed his name to Raël (meaning "messenger of the Elohim") and founded the International Raëlian movement. While on a nature walk in his native France, 27-year old Claude Vorilhon saw a small, alien spacecraft land in front of him. A four foot tall affable humanoid named Yahweh emerged and told Vorilhon to relay the encounter to all mankind —  who will be judged for eternity based upon their reaction.
