Today on the First15 Podcast we are beginning a multi-week series on finding peace in the political season. This is one of the most divisive political times we’ve ever seen, and so we want to have honest and open conversations abound how we can walk in peace with God and others as we journey through it. To kick off this series, we’re having a conversation with John Mark Comer. He’s the pastor of Bridgetown Church in Portland, Oregon, and the author of The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry. John Mark offers so much wisdom in this conversation. We discuss things like... -Our increasing need for deep community -The difference between a theological issue and a political issue -How not all political issues are weighted equally -How to have a healthy engagement with news and social media To get John Mark's book, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry, CLICK HERE To access Bridgetown Church's resources around practicing the way of Jesus, CLICK HERE _____________ First15 is a daily devotional written and recorded by Craig Denison. Friend, I can barely put it into words... But, this here is my feeble attempt! May you allow this next 32 minutes to be a safe place to land for a moment. May you imagine yourself at the Restorable Retreat with us. AND... may YOU picture yourself looking like YOUR heart is FREE. Just imagine, for a moment if that hard thing didn't have so much control on you. Soak it in friends... soak in the freedom that comes from breaking away from the false identities that we hold onto. Soak in the freedom that is offered when we begin to believe what is TRUE about WHO WE REALLY ARE! You're gonna love this one... and then, you are gonna want to consider if the Restorable Retreat 2021 is a safe place for you to find hope and healing! Today in our First15 Podcast Conversation we’re taking a closer look at the power of truth and love. I think most of us would say we desire to walk in both, but it can be difficult to practically do that well. So we’re hanging out with Matt Brown, who is an author, evangelist, and a great friend of First15! We talk about what it looks like to experience the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, and how that starts with our personal connection with God. If you’re like me and have struggled to fully experience the fruit of the Spirit in your life in these challenging times, I’d encourage you to jump into today’s conversation and allow God to speak truth to you today. To get a copy of Truth Plus Love, Click Here To find out more about Matt and his ministry, Think Eternity, Click Here P.S. We’ve just launched our summer campaign, which is an important time for us financially here at First15. If you’ve been blessed by the ministry of First15, would you consider partnering with us? Any gift you can make today will go towards helping others experience a consistent and transformative time alone with God.

"Start comparing yourself to others" Just wait... did I mean STOP comparing yourself to others? Nope. Start. Albeit contrary to the mainstream advice, comparing yourself to others is simply human nature and to avoid it, could be detrimental to your business, possibly even devastating to your mental health. Your entire world is based on discerning one thing from another. Comparing a chair against a table is in part how you understand the difference between the two. One piece of building a great brand is becoming an objective observer. Comparing everything around you provides an opportunity to more deeply understand consumer psychology and how you want the world to see and interact with your brand. On this episode of Life By Design For Chiropractors we challenge the idea that judgement is bad and apply the opposite to building a brand the customer can love (or hate). What We Cover What you can learn from Donald Trump. Love him or hate him... doesn't matter. In fact, that's the point. How to become an objective observer who can judge and compare with the correct context in order to benefit. Why it's normal for the human mind to compare and how restricting judgement can seriously impair you. Click HERE To learn more about the Life By Design Training Camp.
The thought of taking a break during a busy work day can sound impossible if not contrary to the ethos of our job. The reality, however, is that taking a break is not only possible, but will likely make you clinically sharper, more efficient, and possibly even happier. In this episode, Dr. Joshua Russell walks us through how to take a break within the constraints of our clinical responsibilities as well as pitfalls to avoid when taking a pause from patient care. We Discuss: The importance of breaks and how they can positively impact your affective state and ability to care for patients; The abundant evidence that says that breaks are helpful; How mental vigilance naturally wanes and decision fatigue sets in as the day progresses. Nobody functions with the same efficiency throughout an entire day; System 1 vs. system 2 thinking, and how when we’re in a negative affective state (ie. a “bad mood”), our ability to be deliberate in our decision-making is compromised; What a healthy break looks like; The notion that finding the time for a break takes intention; and More. She discusses how we not only project "negative" thoughts, feelings and traits onto others, but also "positive" ones as well. Listen in to see how this can actually keep you from the connection you want. And listen in as Bryce and Jenny discuss a listener's question. QUESTION: "After going through a divorce & being single for going on two years now. I am thinking of dating again (and after going through 3 years of counseling. Was going before, during and after the divorce). I have a friend that I adore and would like to date but I don't know how to approach him. He is also divorced and doesn't have a girlfriend. Do I drop a hint? He isn't into games or drama - same as me Do I tell him I'm interested in dating or more than just friendship? I'm not sure how to get out of the friend zone. When we think of innovation, we typically attribute this to technology and for-profit companies. They’re the ones with the big ideas and the money to see them through. But, when it comes to solving the most pressing issues facing our communities, nonprofits are actually perfectly positioned for innovation. While the nonprofit sector faces some real obstacles to innovation, there are steps organizations can take to think differently and attack problems from a different viewpoint. On this episode, I talk through the four elements that help nonprofits eliminate societal problems through innovation. Episode 6 of the Fuel Your Vision podcast was the most humbling interview I've ever done...I bring on Eric LeGrand to share his incredible story of how one single moment on the football field at Rutgers changed everything in this life.Back in 2010 Eric was on kickoff during a bowl game at MetLife stadium playing in the biggest football game of his young career. When he delivered a hit to a guy on the return team, Eric went completely paralyzed from neck down.Since that moment, Eric has had one MAJOR comeback by taking his story and using it to help millions of people world wide!Eric has been featured on Ed Mylett's MAXOUT show, worked with Gary Vaynerchuk and even helped Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston on set of the movie, The Upside.Eric has also built an online movement around helping those who suffer from paralysis by starting his own brand called Shopfiftytwo where he along with many influential sports athletes have raised over $2 million in research to find a cure for this horrible injury. In this episode Eric and I talk about:-The moment he thought life was over.-The moments right after this incident.-How he uses his story to help millions of people.-His incredible work with ShopFiftyTwo and Team Legrand brands.-His speaking career.-His vision and dream to one day end paralysis for good.-His journey with God before and after this tragic moment.-His incredible perspective on life.I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did making it!Eric is an inspiration to us all!To connect with Eric and donate to this cause:TeamLegrand.orgInstagram YouTubeWebsiteTo WATCH this episode, subscribe to my YouTube channel below.Click HereTo connect more with Alex:Instagram Facebook#FuelYourVision#VisionWall

Zig When Others Zag! Get to know Brian Fanzo! Brian Fanzo is a digital marketer and speaker who tells it how it is. He is unapologetically himself and encourages others to do the same. Join me in a really interesting discussion on how he creates content that help him elevate his authority and make an impression with the world online. Key Takeaways: Lean into what works. Be willing to pivot and focus your energy on what is working. Don't stick with things that aren't working or isn't what you want to be doing. How do you create so much content at once? If you want to be successful, you have to work smart, not hard. He upcycles his content. 6 pieces of content a week are based on one core piece of content. He records a live video podcast on social media, exports the audio content for a podcast episode, and then turn it into blogs, social posts, and other pieces. Great content is determined by the audience. You have to bring your content to where your audience is. If you prefer audio, you can listen to his podcast. If you prefer video, you can watch his video. Everyone learns and consumes content differently, so why aren't we creating content in all of those various forms? Brian creates content and then exports it out in different ways to fit different people and their style. Set timers for yourself as you're building/creating content. "I like to zig when everyone is zagging." He likes to observe what other people are doing and see where he can stand out. Be willing to adjust and adapt. Schedule time to engage with your audience on social media! Relationships that come beyond the content are magic! "If you treat marketing like a billboard, you will get billboard results." Stop talking at people and talk WITH people instead! Spend time setting up the notifications you want on your devices so that you don't get distracted, BUT you get the info you need! Mike is especially interesting because he started full time much later in life. People often ask me about starting comedy at a later stage life. In fact we covered it in STARTING COMEDY LATE IN LIFE [EP. 108] with Rex Havens awhile back. Rex also left a big time job when he didn't have to to pursue comedy. Mike James and I talk about: Having the "comedy discussion" with his wife Being initially inspired by his son's love of improvcomedy Getting his start in Phoenix area Importance of delegating what isn't your strong suit Moving beyond clubs to corporate gigs Exploring work on cruise ships Booking cruise ship gigs How to STAY booked on cruise ships The challenge of filling a LOT of time on cruise ships Staying focused while on a cruise Starting Cross-Eyed Comedywith Brian Kohatsu and much, much more. BONE HAMPTON - America's Got Talent comedian and Dove Award-winning “Comedian of the Year” joins me today to talk all things comedy. I've known Bone for a solid ten years and although we've broke bread, appeared on some of the same tapings and are part of the Christian Comedy Association, I haven't spent as much time as I would have liked with him. So today, we make up for it with an in-depth hour long interview that is wall to wall jam packed with comedy gold. BONE HAMPTON SHOW NOTES Specifically, Bone Hampton and I talk about: His days as University of North Texasfootball player and Rah Rah dude Winning $500 from Oscar-winning actor, Jamie Foxx Being one of the few clean comedians in Hollywood Opening for Carmanon the road Learning to do Bible jokes for the unsaved BET’s “Comic View" His two stints as Guest Co-Host of ABC’s “The View" His friendship with Actress/Comedienne Sherri Shepherd How he worked on NBC’s “My Name is Earl" America's Got Talent The importance of honing a 90 second set The role a "back story" plays in television and a whole lot more! More about BONE HAMPTON When he’s not on set, the comedian/actor answers the call of the road, traveling across the country bringing merriment to the masses. As one of the superstars of clean/Christian entertainment, Bone is the host of JoyFest, the premiere gospel music festival. Bone has toured with the likes of Chonda Pierce, LeCrae, as well as Sherri Shepherd. He credits his success, in part, to “co-laborers in the faith”–friends such as Shepherd and Zachary Levi (“Chuck”) “who believe it is possible to be a Christian and make it in showbiz.” His memorable appearance in the bestselling DVD, “Thou Shalt Laugh: The Deuce,” hosted Emmy Award-winning comedy legend Tim Conway (“The Carol Burnett Show” and “SpongeBob Square Pants”), led to a repeat performance in the follow up project, “Thou Shalt Laugh 5” hosted by Chonda Pierce and featuring Thor Ramsey (“Bananas”), Taylor Mason (Taylor’s Attic”), and Victoria Jackson (“Saturday Night Live”). My Peeps Show Episode #4 “RIK ROBERTS” First we go way back to my appearance as a guest on the MY PEEPS SHOW podcast with Anthony Rece. We covered a lot of ground on the show and I know you’ll dig it! In this episode I get to know the very talented Rik Roberts.Rik has been doing stand up for 27 years and whether its Riks great comedic storytelling or his 2nd to none Barney impression from the Andy Griffith Show his talent is unquestioned. 5 AM Miracle Episode #211 Traveling Like a Pro with Comedian Rik Roberts Next up you can check out the 5 AM Miracle with Jeff Sanders. We got to hang out at the National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, ate some yogurt and recorded this conversation. Morry hosts the School of Hard Knock Knocks podcast. Sorry wonders how you can be a Christian and still make fun of things? Aren’t there too many constraints? You’ll hear my perspective on finding the funny within the beliefs of Christianity, and how being squeaky clean can be great for business. The Art of Bombing Episode #59 RIK ROBERTS Lastly, lets be honest, all the gigs aren’t valet parking and standing ovations. On THE ART OF BOMBING comedy podcast, Dave Blublitz explores the dark reality of failure. Lucky for us, there are lots of lessons in the lack of laughs! “Do you ask questions before you agree to a gig? Or are you so desperate for stage time that you take every gig offered? This week I’m joined by Rik Roberts from the “School Of Laughs”. Rik has a couple of great stories about bombing at a corporate gig and bombing with a whole Improv troupe in front of 3,000 people. We talk about asking lots of questions before accepting gigs, pros & cons of self producing projects, having a marketing plan, and more.” EPISODE SPONSORS … This episode is sponsored by "https://schooloflaughs.com/patreon-a-way-for-you-to-support-the-podcast/">PATREON supporter B.
