Dearbhla Toal, or Belle Azzure, joins me to talk about all the challenges of motherhood, and how she's passionate about keeping things real when it comes to her own experience of being a parent. Expecting her second baby, Dearbhla is a parent to a toddler. She's also a personal trainer, a Google marketer and an online influencer – you can imagine my first question was HOW?Dearbhla says it's not easy and she wants to show on social media that perception is often not reality. We talk about her struggle with chronic sickness during pregnancy, how it impacts her Crohn's disease and how fitness and health is so important to her. We also talk about online comparison among mothers and how to avoid it.I hope you enjoy my chat with the lovely Dearbhla, and you take some comfort knowing that what you see online is – a lot of the time – not truly representative of real life. In today's episode of the High on Life podcast, I'm speaking with our client Dearbhla who recently completed our Recover Strong treatment program for Binge Eating Disorder.Like so many women, Dearbhla didn't even know she had an eating disorder before coming to us. She just wanted to lose weight. She knew she struggled with bingeing every evening, but she thought it was just her fault. That she had a willpower issue or character flaw. When we diagnosed her with Binge Eating Disorder, everything finally made sense and she was able to get the real help she needed. Instead of searching for diet after diet, which only resulted in more restriction and more bingeing, she was able to find freedom around food (even her "fear food" - chips!), learn to accept her body instead of hate it, and feel confident that she knows how to prevent and if necessary, recover, from binges.I so appreciate Dearbhla having the courage to share with us because Binge Eating Disorder is highly stigmatized and under-recognized as a real medical diagnosis. If you listen and this podcast resonates with you, or if you have a diagnosis of Binge Eating Disorder but haven't been able to get the help you need, then Recover Strong is for you. Recover Strong is a coaching program available to clients across Canada. Join our waitlist at www.highmetabolicclinic.com/bed. We look forward to seeing you Recover Strong.

Love and Courage podcast with Ruairí McKiernan. Originally from County Cork, Dearbhla Glynn is a multi-award winning documentary filmmaker, photo-journalist, artist, writer and yoga teacher. Her films explore themes of culture, human rights and conflict and have seen her travel to conflict zones around the world including Palestine, DR Congo, Iraq, and Haiti and she has also made films based around the Burning Man festival in Nevada and the Festival in the Desert in Malai. In recent times she has been focusing more on her work as an advanced yoga teacher although at the time of recording this podcast she wasn’t long home from a trip to the Greek island of Lesbos, where people from Afghanistan, Syria and elsewhere remain stranded in search of sanctuary. Our conversation explores Dearbhla’s fascinating life journey and I found it really insightful and inspiring to hear how she first found her path and has stayed true to it since. I do want to mention that part of Dearbhla’s work has involved looking at the theme of trauma and in the part of our conversation about Eastern Congo she talks about the devastating reality surrounding sexual violence there. Overall Dearbhla’s story is one of shining a light on the darkness and it’s one I hope many people get to hear.
On tonight's Mystery Train Sunday Service, John is joined by Emmy award-winning Irish director Dearbhla Walsh. Dearbhla's many credits include episodes of Fargo and The Handmaid’s Tale, and music choices include Nana Mouskouri, Thomas Newman and Hozier.
