Download it here: https://www.downloadtennis.com/ Andre, Vansh, and Owen break down a wonderful tournament in Rome this week on Tennis and Bagels! We begin with a recap of the 57th edition of the best rivalry ever on the men's side: Djokovic-Nadal in the final. What made this match closer than the pair's recent clashes on clay, and what are the takeaways? How should Djokovic feel about coming up just short despite a huge physical effort at the end of the tournament? And what is the verdict on Nadal's lead-up to his beloved Roland-Garros? We also discuss Thiem, Sonego, and Tsitsipas and their achievements in Rome and prospects going forward. Also, is there a method to Medvedev's madness on clay, or is he just at a loss for ideas and looking for plants to mess with? Next is the WTA side -- Świątek reached a scary level of dominance against Plíšková in the final, bagging a big title and saving a pair of match points in the third round -- one with a winner. Should we re-evaluate Barty's status as Roland-Garros favorite based on this result? Gauff had a great week in Rome, toppling another top player and good prediction to win Roland-Garros -- Sabalenka -- on the way to the semifinals. Osaka's struggles on clay have continued this season; how do we feel about her chances to master the surface? All this and more on this episode!
The USTA-led US Open Tennis Championships still plans on holding this year's tournament under strict health provisions such as limiting player guests, prohibiting outside contact and implementing frequent testing. What would it mean for Djokovic and Nadal to skip the 2020 US Open? I discuss...

Just to clarify: I think watching Challenger tournaments on a SCREEN is boring. Pretty much and live professional match is good, and I am all for better pay and opportunity for lower ranked players, especially because talent is not at all the defining variable in anyone's career's equation. I would love to go out and watch a challenger in Granby, or Quebec, for example! Also, Another thing that will get structure from now on is the naming scheme lol this has been all over the place. Anyway, Weekly recaps include for this week mostly the WTA. Kenin and Svitolina should be dangerous next week. Indian Wells draws not out, so I only talk about the fact that I want a Djokovic Nadal final. And, to cap this episode, still ranting about the WTA and ATP's digital presence. I am a consumer, and it is my right to be annoying (but I recognize the difficulty level of applying changes)Thanks for Listening !--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tennis-and-bagels/messageSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/tennis-and-bagels.
On our 7th birthday, we are back with our Day 2 Tennis Podcast from Roland Garros!Serena Williams has rarely been seen on a tennis court in recent months, but her return to Roland Garros was a welcome one, and she got going eventually. Not before swallowing a 2-6 first set against Vitalia Diatchenko though. So what happened? Catherine Whitaker and Matt Roberts talk us through from the media restaurant. Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic jumped out of the blocks looking every bit the likely finalists in the men’s draw, but Dominic Thiem had a right old scrap on his hands against Tommy Paul. So how did they all look? Catherine and Matt give us the lo-down, with a little bit of assistance from David Law in Solihull. Jo Konta got her first win in the main draw, Pierre-Hugues Herbert followed his old mate Nicolas Mahut in nailing a stunning 5-set comeback and the pod team pay tribute to 19-year-old Paul Jubb, who did something no British player has done before. A memorable, bizarre, pulsating day at Wimbledon ended with Kevin Anderson in the men’s singles final after a 6 hour 36 minute epic, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal needing to come back out to continue battle on Saturday with Djokovic ahead 2 sets to 1, and a women’s final likely to be delayed as a result. In total darkness after the 11pm curfew had brought play to a halt, Catherine Whitaker, David Law and Simon Briggs got together to review matters. Is it time for a final set tie-break to be brought in at all the Grand Slams to avoid a scoreline like 26-24? Will Anderson be able to recover for the final? And who is he going to end up playing against - Djokovic or Nadal? In the women’s final, Serena Williams will take on Angelique Kerber, but it might well be delayed. Is that satisfactory, or should they have resumed with the men’s semifinal afterwards? The Tennis Podcast is produced daily throughout Wimbledon, presented by David Law and Catherine Whitaker. It is produced in associated with Telegraph Sport and sponsored by Amazon Prime Video, the new home of the US Open in the UK. "So the rain helped me a lot."Cilic was runner-up to Roger Federer last year and showed great form by beating Novak Djokovic in the Queen's Club final last month. His early exit opens up Federer's path to the final even more, with No. 8 Kevin Anderson the highest-seeded player left in the Swiss star's half of the draw after No. 6 Grigor Dimitrov lost in the first round.Stan Wawrinka also exited, losing to Italian qualifier Thomas Fabbiano 7-6 (7), 6-3, 7-6 (6). That match was also suspended on Wednesday with Wawrinka leading 6-5 in the third set, but Fabbiano wrapped up the victory quickly to equal his best Grand Slam result by reaching the third round.Wawrinka, whose ranking has fallen to 224th following knee surgery, came from a set down to upset sixth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov in the first round for just his second Grand Slam victory since last year's Wimbledon.Former champions Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal remained on course for a semifinal meeting.Djokovic overcame an apparent thigh problem to beat Horacio Zeballos 6-1, 6-2, 6-3, while top-ranked Nadal defeated Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.Djokovic called for a trainer and had his left leg massaged when leading 4-3 in the third set. In their last pre-Europe show, Ben and Courtney discuss the things you probably shouldn't do on television, like Roselyne Bachelot's accusations about Rafael Nadal that just drew a defamation lawsuit. But is there any good way to talk about illicit performance enhancement speculation, a question raised by Andy Murray voicing his vague suspicions? Also, Serena Williams and her throne joined Beyonce in Lemonade, which was way neato. Then we take questions on WTA surprises (including the delightful Cagla Buyukakcay, Nishikori stagnation and Djokovic-Nadal. As mentioned, here's Irina Falconi's fundraising effort for earthquake relief in Ecuador. And as always, thanks for liking us on Facebook, following us on Twitter, and subscribing/reviewing on iTunes or whatever your podcasting app/platform of choice may be.
With the hotly anticipated Djokovic-Nadal quarterfinal now complete, Ben and Courtney put down the panic buttons and hit the record button to share their feelings. What does the unshocking yet lopsided loss say about Rafael Nadal, and his future as a dominant force in tennis? What can he do to regain former glories? Also, just how much better is Novak Djokovic than everybody else? We also discuss other issues of the French Open second week, including debris falling on spectators, surprise semifinal runs by Ana Ivanovic, Lucie Safarova, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Stan Wawrinka, and more! We then dive into the issues about transcript availability to fans, and how this affects journalists like ourselves. Live from the dirt of Paris and the glitter of Vienna, respectively, Courtney and Ben break down the momentous draw of the 2015 French Open, and give our predictions in pathetically crapshoot fashion. Firstly: the Djokovic-Nadal quarter, ever anticipated, actually happened! Now what happens? As you can guess if you've been listening, we disagree. We also have different players coming out of the men's bottom half, so it should make for a fun men's tournament. On the women's top half, we have even less clue. Serena against the field, but who exactly is capable in the field? Augh, it's tough.
