With the recent Sandman trailer drop, the world seems re-energized regarding all things Dream King. We are here for it. In fact, we've been reading Neil Gaiman's epic series one issue at a time/one week at a time for more than a year now and recording our thoughts through our Patreon feed. Our Sleepwalking Through Sandman episodes are some of our favorite conversations that we've had in the Love Nest, made all the better by our Patrons providing context and history every week. When we initially launched the show, we plopped the first episode into our main feed, and we thought it was time to give our regular audience another preview. This Sandman #17 episode was initially recorded several months ago, but we think it's one of our best Sandman conversations. We hope you agree with us. As first-time Sandman readers, we're deeply fascinated with Morpheus' romantic relationships. You'll hear how we're struggling to comprehend his behavior toward Nada, and how this deep dive into his relationship with Calliope re-contextualizes the Dream King's actions. We hope you enjoy this chat. Longtime CBCC listeners may have some inkling of what we sound like when we're in full-sweatpants mode, but newcomers could be a little shocked. We can get real dang silly, friends. Enjoy! And please let us know what you think of this podcast series. Sandman #17 was published by DC Comics with a cover date of July 1990. It's written by Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Kelley Jones & Malcolm Jones III, lettered by Todd Klein, colored by Robbie Busch(Original) and Daniel Vozzo (Re-Color), assistant edited by Tom Peyer, edited by Karen Berger, and features a cover by Dave McKean. Created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg. In this episode, Chris welcomes Jeff, who is the public relations manager for the “Spoiler Country” podcast, and creator & co-writer of “The Nightmare Patrol” comic book, to discuss one of his favorite comic book arcs, “The Sandman: Season of Mists”. Prolific writer Neil Gaiman who is accompanied by an outstanding group of artists, continues telling the tale of his most famous character, “Dream”, who in this story must atone for grave mistake he made a long time ago. Ten thousand years ago, Dream condemned a woman who loved him to Hell. Now the other members of his immortal family, The Endless, have convinced the Dream King that this was an injustice. The Dream King - Guest Speakers Will Ford And Matt Lockett by whatisgrace
Racism is alive and well. Hatred, anger, and injustice seem to be the theme of 2020 that the world can't seem to escape. BUT. What if I told you that you have the most effective weapon to fight the aforementioned atrocities? The weapon is also one of the most powerful brands anyone can ever encounter, and it goes hand-in-hand with one of the most difficult—yet most freeing—actions you can ever take in your life. I am talking about love and forgiveness. It's easier to love someone who loves you back. It's a simpler process to forgive someone when there is mutual reconciliation. But what about when there is injustice that is multi-generational? This week's podcast was an event I heard live from two serendipitous individuals who were linked from their ancestors, and had their lives completely turned upside down from the story they share in what you are about to hear in this episode. It has changed their lives so much, that this story was turned into a book, The Dream King, and serves as the platform that is their life-calling to travel the world to share the ultimate personal brand of love and forgiveness in one of the most touching and unbelievable stories you will hear on this platform. This is one you will want to really listen closely to—and take note of the choice we all have that can shape the destiny of our lives. Ever find yourself standing paralyzed, not comprehending how so many things around you seem to be stacked against you? Or, maybe you simply want to run away? This has been a tough year, a catastrophic year for so many. A global pandemic. Racial injustice. A divisive election. What is God’s plan in all of this? How can we trust that He is in control?
This is the craziest story anyone has ever heard. How the great, great grandson of slaves became a follower of Christ – inherited the massive soup kettle his ancestors prayed under – then met the great, great grandson of the plantation owners of his family. An inspirational and courageous word on racial harmony, the power of faith and how friendships are strengthened and maintained. Will Ford and Paul Cole met years ago when Paul became Will's pastor. That friendship has strengthened over the years and today you'll hear that. Will Ford served as the Director of the Marketplace Leadership Major at Christ For The Nations Institute in Dallas, Texas. He is also the founder of Hilkiah Ministries and Co Founding Director of 818 The Sign. Many know him internationally, however, for his family heirloom passed down through history, and its connection to slavery and prayer for freedom. As a leader in the prayer movement, Will uses this “prayer bowl” (Rev. 5:8) as a catalyst for mobilizing prayer and teaching on intercession, revival and societal transformation. He believes that it was the prayers of a godly remnant of all races—who were revivalists and abolitionists—that brought revival to America and ultimately ended slavery. Receiving their mantle from yesterday, Will is actively training a new generation to release justice to the most marginalized today. In addition to The Dream King, Will is co- author of History Makers: Your Prayers Have the Power to Heal the Past and Shape the Future with Dutch Sheets. Will is a father of four. He and his wife Dehavilland live in Dallas, Texas. Matt Lockett is the Executive Director of the Justice House of Prayer DC located right on Capitol Hill in Washington. From the governmental gate of the nation, Matt leads prayer and intercession that appeals to a holy hill that's higher than Capitol Hill—to a heavenly court that's above the Supreme Court.Matt, along with his wife and four children, have served as full-time missionaries in the nation's capital since just after the founding of JHOP DC in 2004. His passion is to help father a young, consecrated generation that will usher justice into the earth. Matt travels and speaks on the topics of prayer, fasting and governmental intercession. Matt also oversees Bound4LIFE International, a pro-life prayer movement universally recognized by the red tape worn over the mouth with the word “LIFE” handwritten on it. “It's not a protest. It's a prayer meeting.” In addition to The Dream King, Lockett is co- author of Prayer that Impacts the World: A Study Guide for Developing a Culture of Contending Prayer.
Thai Lam and Daniel Grenz interview Matt Lockett, author of “Dream King,” from Justice House of Prayer in Washington DC in this second half of a “Revival is Family” conversation. As college students enter into this unique moment of pandemic and racial divide, Matt, Thai, and Daniel encourage Generation Z, with their unique grace for justice, to build a Biblical foundation, learning from spiritual fathers and mothers, in order to encounter our current world with wisdom and a holy perspective. In this episode, Chris welcomes Jeff, who is the public relations manager for the “Spoiler Country” podcast, and creator & co-writer of “The Nightmare Patrol” comic book, to discuss one of his favorite comic book arcs, “The Sandman: Season of Mists”. Prolific writer Neil Gaiman who is accompanied by an outstanding group of artists, continues telling the tale of his most famous character, “Dream”, who in this story must atone for a grave mistake he made a long time ago. Ten thousand years ago, Dream condemned a woman who loved him to Hell. Now the other members of his immortal family, The Endless, have convinced the Dream King that this was an injustice. To make it right, he must return to Hell to rescue his banished love -- and Hell's ruler, the fallen angel Lucifer, has already sworn to destroy him. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream over 55 years ago, but was that dream merely poetry or was it prophecy? This is a story about two grown men, Will Ford & Matt Lockett, pursuing their connection to the past which caused them to face injustice and racial reconciliation that went beyond their imagination. Their personal dreams brought these two men together which turned into a fulfillment of a historic dream. Now their dream together is to actively work toward the ending of the next great injustice in this country, the injustice against the unborn. Their desire is to see the legal ending of abortion. Will and Matt have recently written a book together called The Dream King, found where books are sold. On today's episode of Are You Real Purpose Jon talks to Will Ford. Will Ford is the Director of the market place leadership major at Christ for the Nations. Will is also the co- author of the book The Dream King. In this interview, Will talks about his family heirloom. This heirloom is a 200 year old kettle pot originally used for washing clothes, but was secretly used for prayer. Years later, this same kettle pot was used to begin to heal not just a family from slavery, and racism, but is still being used today. Will says "We are called to have a prayer life, a life of intimacy with God that respects all of society." Will also says that in order for us to change the world we must first change the market place. When we do this we are raising up marketplace revivalists who are problem solvers for society, and that brings influence to our nation. Will has a story that will touch your heart, and propel you to new heights! LINKS; Connect with Jon Connect with Will Ford
