This simply means that something happens very, very quickly. It's an older phrase. I don't actually use it that often anymore. But I did hear my mom use it the other day. She said she was going to be back in a jiffy. We were playing a board game and she went to get something out of her purse and she said, oh, I'll be back in a jiffy. So it is something that is still used, but maybe by older people. If you're watching an older movie or an older tv show, you might hear the phrase in a jiffy. To do something very, very quickly. The other day I was at the garage and I needed a new windshield wiper. And you know what? Before you know it, they're done installing that. They do it very, very quickly. I actually went to talk to the mechanic, and the other mechanic installed the wiper before I knew it. So I got to change the tense here a little bit. But he popped the old one off and he put the new one on. Sometimes I do it myself, but with my blue van, it's not as easy as you would think. So sometimes I just have the mechanic do that for me, even though it's an easy job.So to review, when you do something in a jiffy, it means you do it very, very quickly or almost instantly. And if someone does something before you know it, it means the same thing. When you're in a restaurant, sometimes you order food and before you know it, the server comes back with the food. That's always nice. A colleague of mine went to a restaurant a few days ago and waited 2 hours for his food. That's definitely not quick at all.But hey, let's look at a comment from a previous video. I miss the old days when I could learn English with short lessons and then the little, few dots at the end and then my response, I'm back.Yeah, thanks, Denis, for that comment. Walmart is closing its stores in North and Southeast Portland, saying the two locations have not met financial expectations.The retail giant said it plans to shutter the stores at the Delta Park and Eastport Plaza shopping centers, including their pharmacies, on March 24. The company said it would work with its staff to instruct customers on how to transfer prescriptions to pharmacies of their choice.“There is no single cause for why a store closes – we do a thorough review of how a store performs and weigh many factors before making the difficult decision to close a facility,” Lauren Willis, spokesperson for Walmart, told The Oregonian/OregonLive.The closures means that a total of 580 employees will lose their jobs, according to a notice sent to state and local officials. The workers, who are not represented by a union, were notified of their layoffs on Wednesday and that they can apply for openings at other Walmart or Sam's Club locations.According to news reports, Walmart has announced plans to close more than half a dozen stores across the country since the beginning of the year.Walmart operates 45 stores in Oregon. Shownotes:(0:01) Highlights of the episode(0:01)- A lot of what we do is to be like someone we admire or individuals we admire, and that's what prompted that decision.(0:10)- There are very, very bright people in the world who don't see it at all the same way that I do, or that many in uniform way.(0:17)- People who don't seem to see the world the same way you do can still be exceedingly bright, and exceedingly well informed.(0:25)- Cyberspace is a new entire domain of warfare without question.(1:01) A brief introduction to  General David Petraeus General Petraeus, has served in the US military for 37 years, including tours in cold war Europe, United States, Central America, Heidi, Bosnia, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the greater Middle East. He culminated his military service with six consecutive commands as a general officer, five of which were in combat, including command of the 101st Airborne Division, Air Assault during the fight to Baghdad, and the first year in Iraq multinational security transition command Iraq over 15 subsequent months multinational forces Iraq during the surge from February 2007, to September 2008. US Central Command from 2008 to 2010, and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011. General Petraeus graduated with distinction from the US Military Academy, subsequently earned a Ph.D. from Princeton University, and has held academic appointments at six universities. He has received numerous US military State Department, NATO, and UN medals, including four Defence Distinguished Service Medals, the Bronze Star Medal for valor, and the Combat Action Badge and he has been decorated by 13 foreign countries. Following his service in the military, General Petraeus served as the director of the CIA, leading the agency through a period that saw significant achievements in the global counterterrorism effort, development of a strategic plan for the agency, and an initiative to increase worldwide human intelligence coverage. General Petraeus joined KKR in June, June 2013, as chairman of the KKR Global Institute, he went on to become a partner at KKR in December 2014. The Global Institute supports the KKR investment process and KKR portfolio companies with analysis of geopolitical macroeconomic, environmental, social, and governance issues. General Petraeus is also a member of the board of directors at successful companies like optive and onestream.
