Part of The Exorcist franchise, the series serves as a direct sequel to the original 1973 film and ignores the film's various sequels.[2] Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels star as a pair of exorcists who investigate cases of demonic possession. The series premiered on September 23, 2016, and a second season premiered on September 29, 2017, each comprising 10 episodes.[3][4] After the conclusion of the second season, Fox canceled the series.

**Bonus Episode – The Devil and Father Amorth & Deliver Us From Evil Follow us on social media! Zoe - @LetZoeSpoilYou on Tumblr, Twitter Gaia - @Herbeloved82 on Tumblr Tina - @PandoraTHExplora on Tumblr, Twitter In this special bonus episode, we watch and analyze two films with themes of demonic possession. The first film is The Devil & Father Amorth, a documentary from the director of the original The Exorcist movie, William Friedkin. The second is 2014 film Deliver Us from Evil, directed by Scott Derrickson and based off of the real life events of NYPD cop Ralph Sarchie. We chose these pieces for a few reasons. Since we started doing this podcast last February, we have grown fascinated not only with the cinematic portrayals of demonic possession in Hollywood, but also with the religious and scientific perspectives surrounding exorcisms in the real world. Are these exorcisms of actual demons? Are these manifestations merely symptoms of mental illnesses? What is the answer? Music is "Ludovican" by notforme!, from album Ludovican. This week me and my regular co-host Cody are tired of all the garbage in metal. Marduk, Cirith Ungol, Meshuggah, Decapitated, just throw it all in the trash fire. Then, more positivity. Cody is really excited about Psycho Las Vegas, which leads to him checking out Wolves In The Throne Room. There's a new Ihsahn song, and I got into Krosis, and tried to get into the new Panopticon album. Then we talk about Death, Gruesome and Cist. Then, cool people time with A Quiet Place, The Knick, Unsane, The Exorcist (TV show) and more. Enjoy!

**Content warning: Austin and Amanda are tipsy/drunk in this episode again. Weird stuff happens. If drunkeness or people talking about being drunk (and hungover) bugs you, take care to skip this ep and we'll be back with another regular one soon.** THR celebrates its second anniversary with another infamous drunk episode! Or that was the plan, anyway. Austin and Amanda got a little too drunk and the material ranged between boring rambled stories and helpless wheezing about Beefman, *The Exorcist* TV show, The Couch Anecdote, and the origins of our friendship. We've hacked and slashed the best bits and stapled them onto a sober recording to flesh the whole thing out. We hope you enjoy, and thanks so much for sticking with us for two whole years.

Kate Sanchez returns to help us investigate season 1 of THE EXORCIST TV show. How is the show as good as it is? We explore the characters, the themes and the scares.
In this week’s show we review the Fox TV Series “The Exorcist” which just completed it’s first season and is now available on Hulu. Based on the hit 1973 film by the same name (from a novel by William Peter Blatty), the show follows Father Tomas Ortega and Father Marcus Keane both exorcists from the Roman Catholic Church. The main victim of possession is Casey Rance daughter of Angela Rance played Geena Davis who is actually Regan MacNeil from the original story. The show expands “The Exorcist” universe to include other plot twists such as a plan to assassinate the Pope by a secret society made up of church leaders, a group of demons who are trying to take over Chicago by stealing organs from residents of poor neighborhoods and a group of rebel nuns that perform exorcism outside of official approval. The Salesman / Captain Howdy or Pazuzu, is depicted as an elderly gentleman who appears to Regan while playing with a Ouija board. Our guest Joe Balog, offers his perspective on the show and discusses the rite of possession including the litany of the Virgin Mary which is mentioned on the show and is not usually used for demonic possession.
Byrd and Trev return with our sort of late review of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. We also discuss the passing of Carrie Fisher and what the future may hold for Princess Leia. We also deliver on our promise to review the first season of the Exorcist TV series and the recently released directors cut of Exorcist III. But first, we discuss our inexplicable recent fascination with Tyler Perry's Madea films and the weird current state of the DC Extended Universe films.
