Support the show: https://krant.nlSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Listeners to Five Live's Fighting Talk will know each episode ends with the two highest scorers defending a controversial or unpopular opinion in order to win the episode. So, in that vain: Martin Kelner knows nothing about radio and deserved to be paid less than a horse. Of course he knows nothing about radio. He's only spent the best part of half a century in the industry. Radio 2? Radio Who more like! So what if he introduced Caroline Aherne and Jake Yapp to us? Victoria Wood was absolutely right to walk out on his interview with her. And Edouard Lapaglie has carried him for years! Actually, that might be a Defend the Indefensible too far. Martin is, as Foxy puts it, radio royalty. So we insist you be upstanding while listening to this episode. There's strong language and we must warn you that this episode includes the funniest story ever told on this podcast, so spare undergarments may be required. See Martin's Tweets here: https://twitter.com/martinkelner Hear Extra Time with Martin Kelner on TalkSport, Friday and Saturday nights from 1am. Martin's books 'Sit Down and Cheer - A history of sport on TV' and 'When Will I Be Famous - Travels through the dark side of show business' are available to buy now. And his new book, 'Screen Break', will be available in mid-2023 so keep an eye out for that.

Tijdsindeling: 0m55 Marjan Olfers | 12m27 DWDD-slachtoffers | 25m37 Five Live | 30m44 Barend en Van Dorp-tune | 33m31 harde docenten: onveilig of onprettig | 44m11 pr-clusterfuck Qatar | 53m35 framing in discussies Shownotes:
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Johan Remkes, the government's polder tsar, works his magic again as Dutch farmers cautiously welcome his plan to buy out up to 600 of the biggest nitrogen polluters - essentially the same plan that sparked two years of furious protest. There seems little hope of reconciliation between Khadija Arib and her successor as chair of parliament, Vera Bergkamp, after Arib quits as an MP and accuses Bergkamp and her PvdA colleagues of stabbing her in the back. The coronavirus season begins with the traditional 'don't panic' message from the health ministry as hospital beds fill up. Inflation rises to record levels, led by the bill for the government's energy price cap, which hits €23.5 billion. Nine men go on trial in Lelystad accused of being involved in a fatal attack on another Dutchman in Mallorca. And the remains of two medieval lions are dug up in The Hague, just as Ajax suffer their worst mauling in the history of the Champions League. * Henk Krol tweet: https://twitter.com/HenkKrol/status/1577963576437997569 * Five Live scene: https://twitter.com/AlexMazereeuw/status/1576844319306022912 * Nitrogen crisis explainer: https://www.dutchnews.nl/features/2022/06/whats-all-the-fuss-about-nitrogen-in-the-netherlands/

Iain Dale interview writer and broadcaster Jo Phillips. Iain credits Jo with being being the one person without whom he would not be in radio. She worked at LBC in the 1970s as Michael Parkinson's producer, was the editor of Five Live's Sunday Service, and now commentates on politics. She tells the horrific story of being stabbed in north London ten years ago and how she has recovered from it.
2022.04.03 – 0458 – BBC Presentation Advice ‘Be yourself. Keep your style natural, conversational, lively and engaging. Try to help the listener feel they're part of the discussion. Address the listener in the first person — this is more intimate and encourages a sense of belonging. Use the present tense wherever possible — it gives a sense of immediacy. Five Live vocabulary should be accessible, jargon-free, simple, clear and intelligent. Be careful not to overcomplicate things and don't be unnecessarily formal in your delivery. Try to avoid becoming too predictable or repetitive, particularly at regular junctions. It's easy to get into habits such as repeating the same expressions e.g.: “to be fair”, “you know”, “I have to say”, “I mean” or starting your programme, strand or bulletin with exactly the same phrase every day.1BBC Radio Five Live Style Guide See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, because we are members of his body. “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” - Ephesians 5:25-31 "Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong." - 1 Corinthians 16:13 "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." - 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 "I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship." - Romans 1:1 "Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable." - 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 "Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense." - Proverbs 12:11 --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/purposeprinciplespassion/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/purposeprinciplespassion/support

Jesus told us He came to give us life and life to the full. We want to believe this to be true but we often think it is an unattainable dream. Yet, it is possible. Together we will explore what it means to be a healthy follower of Jesus in a complicated world as Solomon wrote, “...pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one's whole body.” #fbcmarshall #fbcworship #fbchealthy #fbcsermons
Chapter Five brings us to a fitting bookend for our series, as the whole book has called us to a life of action. The verses remind Donyale of a Twitter hashtag: #nomorethoughtsandprayers - a call to people to bring about concrete action, not vague feelings. James was also bringing a similar mindset against those who said “go in peace,” yet did nothing to stop the problems of the day. But James also calls on those same people to pray - in fact, call the community together to pray, underscoring it is our collective responsibility to care and alleviate suffering. When we pray, we are responding to God's urging. We are responding to God's invitation to get a glimpse of God's understanding of others and the world. We can understand the hashtag, but let us not give up our prayers. thesourcehouston.org

SCOTT: It always sucks you back. ALYSSA: We have three children, our oldest is seven, we have a six-year-old and a four-year-old. So, they are all in a pretty tight span there.
