I talk about the devastating loss for Miami against Alabama, and the rest of the games during Labor Day weekend. Also, "Welcome Back" to the new school year. COVID-19 is still real and is reeking havoc on school districts as the new year starts. Kids testing positive and winding up in ICUs and teachers/bus drivers dying because of the Delta variant of COVID-19.Ray Talks Live is a part of the Helium Radio Network airing on the Untethered Radio network on Tuesdays at 10:00 P.M. COVID-19 cases are rising once again across the United States, especially the Delta variant. The CDC has once again recommended that everyone wear face masks indoors regardless of their vaccination status. Florida has become the epicenter in the U.S. with 21,683 new cases of COVID-19 reported on July 31, 2021. New face mask mandates are in place, and who is to blame??? The CDC and/or the unvaccinated? What about the upcoming school year for school districts? Even the theme parks such as Disney and Universal are impacted once again.Support: Free Lunch CoffeeIf you love drinking coffee and want to help end child hunger. The Season 4 finale of The Chi. Not necessarily a cliffhanger episode, but it did leave a few unanswered questions going into Season 5. Kevin's coming of age and understanding life, Dre and Nina's commitment to working on their marriage, Jada perhaps getting a clean bill of health after fighting cancer, Jake and Jemma's relationship growing stronger, Trig giving Douda an ultimatum to leave Chicago, and will Emmett and Tiff's marriage survive even though she's still stepping out on their marriage? ***Photo Courtesy: IMDbSupport: Free Lunch CoffeeIf you love drinking coffee and want to help end child hunger. This episode of The Chi reminds of you of living life on the Southside of Chicago. Kevin is able to strike up a new relationship; Jake and Jemma's relationship seems to be going well; Jada has family time together with both Darnell and Emmett; and Douda returns to his old self once again after a confrontation with Marcus.***Photo Courtesy: IMDbSupport: Free Lunch CoffeeIf you love drinking coffee and want to help end child hunger. This episode pays homage to the 1997 movie, Love Jones, that starred Larenz Tate and Nia Long. The newest episode of The Chi felt more like a transitional episode to move the storyline along. Not an "on the edge of your seat" type episode as the previous ones, but still gave you food for thought. The "Black Messiah"--two thoughts: (1) Trig understanding that more has to be done and more resources are needed, and (2) Keisha naming her baby boy after Ronnie, the man who saved her when she was kidnapped and missing.***Photo Courtesy: IMDbSupport: Free Lunch CoffeeIf you love drinking coffee and want to help end child hunger. Last week (May 10-16, 2021), the CDC updated its guidelines for fully vaccinated Americans. Has it been two weeks since your second dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines OR the one dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine? Then you know longer have to wear a face mask indoors or outdoors unless where federal, state or local mandates are still in place. Therefore, you can go back to normal activities prior to the pandemic. The CDC also updated its guidelines for the cruise industry in the United States. PLUS with the new CDC guidelines, the theme parks quickly updated their policies in allowing guests to now walk freely without face coverings. For many of history's most famous characters, we all know, at the very least, the basics of what makes these men and women famous to begin with. And of history's most famous people, outside of religious figures, one of the most well known, revered and mysterious is the Renaissance Man himself, Leonardo Da Vinci. Today, we're going to look at one of the lesser-known sides to a man most famous for his artistic works that include but are in no way limited to The Mona Lisa and the famous image of The Last Supper, which incidentally may have been inspired by one of the stories in today's episode. That's right, today, we're going to be looking at Leonardo Da Vinci, the waiter, chef and party planner.-------------------Please support me on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/foodhistorypod and get early access to episodes, bonus content and even free merch!Find transcripts and references on the website: www.foodhistorypodcast.com-------------------Huge thanks to Free Lunch Coffee for sponsoring this episode. When you buy just one bag of Free Lunch Coffee, you are also providing 10 meals to children in need.· Specialty Grade, Certified Organic & Fair Trade!· 100% money-back guarantee for 30 days.Go to www.freelunchcoffee.com for a 10% discount. Welcome to A Counselors Journey To Private Practice. I'm your host, Juan.Free Lunch Coffee is offering a 15% discount to the loyal listeners of this podcast. Use coupon code ‘Santos' at check out. freelunchcoffee.comIdentify your ideal client – who do you want to work with? Even on the most exhausting day, would you work with that client again tomorrow? If we don't have our ideal client, we find ourselves burnt out, overwhelmed, and exhausted. We all resonate with someone. Perhaps you have a specific expertise. For me, I love to work with individuals navigating immigration. It's a story that resonates with me. This episode is about stepping back and taking a huge step back and think about your caseload during the week. Is there some sort of theme? Do you have an avatar? If not, that's okay. At the end of this episode, you'll know how to create your ideal client and wake up to a private practice that you love. Look at your story. Why did you become a therapist? What is your "why?" Yes, you want to help people, but why do you choose to answer high-risk calls. Why do you sit in a session, listen, and provide feedback? Why do you choose to go through a challenging session? This should be a process that is just as intense as graduate school. Think about your "why." Is this forever? Many therapists don't want to put all their eggs in one basket. However, it's your journey. You can learn all about couple's counseling. A few years down the road, you shift to supporting kids – it's okay! We have a job to narrow down our work. Also, we have the responsibility to make a shift when we need to make a shift. That's the beauty of our journey. We can still be effective and powerful when we make a shift.Find your ideal supervisor. Some of us don't seek supervision after graduate school. However, I was hoping you could look at who your ideal supervisor would be that would allow you to grow your expertise. On your end, find a supervisor or a consultant that you can work with. That way, you can grow, become more robust, and more competent. We tend to be impacted by the people with who we surround ourselves with. What we all know is that mentorship is critical for success. Write down presenting concerns. Now, write down the presenting concerns that you feel confident in addressing. Right away, you will acknowledge the inner power within you. That will allow you to get closer to finding your ideal client. Sharpen your skills.Right now, you are an expert. A year from now, you will be even better. Take advantage of continuing education, mentorship, and books. When you invest in yourself, it will pay off, just like in a relationship. When you invest in a relationship, it will be better. It's the same thing here. When you invest in your work, then you will see it pay off. Woody is a world-renowned and sought-after photographer. He has worked with some of the world's biggest brands, like Dior and Corona Beer. His style of photography is unique, using a lot of negative space in his images. His pictures are often minimalistic in nature, having almost a surreal feel to them at times. Woody started taking photos as a teenager and quickly discovered a passion for photography. Through personal discovery and maturation, he developed a unique style that sets him apart from many photographers. Woody is self-taught, and did not attend any academic institution for formal training. This is something he accredits his unique style to. By allowing himself to make "mistakes", and by learning as he went, rather than sticking to specific guidelines they teach in school, he was able to "think outside the box" - and be more creative. Woody and I discussed : Why he spends so much time in Japan What sparked his love for photography What it's like to work with big brands Minimalism in his work, and life The reality of shooting in the ocean How he shot his most famous photo How to be different/stand out And much much more... Woody's Instagram My Take: A formal education, while great, is not always tailor-made for everyone. Not everyone fits in the same box or has to walk the same path as the rest. Creativity, passion, motivation, a "hustler's mentality" - these are things they cant teach you in school. If you have these traits - cultivate them - and don't let anyone box you into what traditional rhetoric may say, is "the right way".
