Between COVID-19, Avian Influenza, and African Swine Fever, ordinary consumers are more aware than ever of the risks of infectious diseases on animal and human health, and to society at large. Ag technology that helps farmers better prevent the spread of diseases is more relevant than ever, and that was a big part of the motivation for today's guest, Rob Hannam, CEO of Farm Health Guardian. But Farm Health Guardian was far from the only livestock biosecurity agtech company in the space, and at some point, when the team came in contact with a competitor with a complementary suite of technologies, they did something unusual. The two companies merged.Given the current state of agtech funding and global financial markets, we thought the time was right to invite Rob on to talk about how he and his team first started exploring the idea of a merger, how they thought about the decision, and how it helped them unlock new opportunities and a more complete product. For more information and resources, visit our website. The information in this post is not investment advice or a recommendation to invest. Starting July 4, 2021, and lasting past the holiday, members of the LGBTQ community converged on Provincetown, Massachusetts, for a holiday that was supposed to be a celebration of the end of the long COVID-19 lockdown. When the weather turned rainy, they confidently took the party indoors, packing the little seaside town's restaurants, bars, and clubs. Why not? They were vaccinated and mask mandates had been lifted. What happened next shocked both the revelers and the country, shutting down what had been hyped as a “hot vax summer,” and signaling that there was a long way to go before the pandemic was over. PhD student Lydia Krasilnikova—who co-led an 80-person, multi-organization collaboration examining the July 2021 superspreader event in Provincetown—talks about what happened and how the outbreak contributed to the US Center for Disease Control's decision to resume its recommendation of indoor masking later that year.

In November 2020, we interviewed Annie Thomas-Landrum about her work as the project manager for the UAA Surge Contact Tracing Team. At the time, before vaccines were widely available, contact tracing was a vital tool in slowing the spread of Covid-19. But as time went on, vaccines became available and new variants caused case counts to skyrocket, we heard less and less about contact tracing. So in this episode, ATMI producer Edison Wallace-Moyer speaks with Annie again. She and her contact tracing team continued working through March 2022. Since then she has gone on to a position as the Associate Director of Health Workforce for the Alaska Area Health Education Centers.  In their conversation, Annie talks about what happened with contact tracing efforts throughout the course of the pandemic, how Covid has changed the medical profession, and how we will still be feeling the effects of the pandemic for a while. They spoke on May 19, 2023.  Hosted by Forrest Rodgers. Music by Devin Shreckengost and Kendrick Whiteman. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, many American colleges and universities were forced to close their campuses. The road to reopening relied on the ability to track symptoms and test results for thousands of students and staff - all in real time. So technologists worked around the clock to create a solution that could scale. In this episode, host Tori Weldon dives into the problem of safely reopening campus and how a progressive web application helped bring back in person learning. You'll hear from Dr. Donna Souder Hodge, Vice President of Operations and Advancement at Colorado State University Pueblo, about how she and her colleagues worked to safely reopening the campus, and Anita Barkin, co-chair of the American College Health Association COVID-19 task force, who helped create the guidelines used by hundreds of colleges to manage COVID.  You'll also hear from the technologists at KPMG, Ellen Pelletier and Werner Vanzyl, who had just six weeks to develop a progressive web application to track thousands of students and staff.Speed to Modern Technology is an original podcast from KPMG. Nick and Dr. Kulldorff discussed a variety of topics related to the COVID pandemic, including the nature of how the SARS-CoV-2 virus spreads compared to other pathogens, how our public health strategy was implemented & his thoughts on how we could have handled the pandemic better, vaccine-induced immunity vs. natural immunity, vaccine efficacy, how and why various countries differed in their approach to COVID, and the health of our scientific & public health institutions in the US.USEFUL LINKSSign up for the weekly Mind & Matter newsletter[https://mindandmatter.substack.com/?sort=top]Download the podcast & follow Nick at his website[https://www.nickjikomes.com]Try Levels Health to monitor your blood sugar & optimize your diet[https://www.levelshealth.com/join?partner=MINDANDMATTER]Follow Nick's work through Linktree:[https://linktr.ee/trikomes]Athletic Greens, comprehensive daily nutrition (Free 1-year supply Vitamin D w/ purchase)[https://www.athleticgreens.com/mindandmatter]Organize your digital highlights & notes w/ Readwise (2 months free w/ sub)[https://readwise.io/nickjikomes/]Learn more about our podcast sponsor, Dosist[https://dosist.com]Support the show (https://www.patreon.com/nickjikomes)

In this episode of The Editor's Desk, Michael J. Matt looks down the road a bit and asks the question: What if the Great Reset fails to materialize before it starts threatening the midterm reelection chances of Democrat politicians?  It's not just Joe Biden's auto-demolition, which Michael Matt predicted would happen back in August of 2020. It's HOW he's collapsing, and WHEN. It's too soon for lower level Democrat politicians (who are not in the Davos loop), guys such as Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who just abandoned vaccine/mask mandates in favor of a new slogan: “We've gone from pandemic to end-demic.” Why? Because he's up for re-election in 2022 and voters don't give a rip about the Great Reset. And this is happening all around the world: In the streets of Paris last week, 200,000 demonstrated against Macron's so-called “Health Pass”. The situation in Israel is proving that vaccines just don't work as we were told they do. Justin Trudeau is in big trouble up in Canada as he's having to cancel rallies due to massive protests of his vaccine passport, and this just weeks before the Canadian election. Pope Francis and Cardinal Cupich called for forced vaccinations just before the BBC, Reuters and Bloomberg begin reporting the cold, hard truth – that way too many people are getting injured and even dying from the vaccines. In this episode, Michael argues that the counterrevolution that's coming – in the State and in the Church – will be the stuff they make movies about. People are sick and tired of the stupid. They're not goin to get vaxxed, Bill DeBlassio, just so they can go see Cardi B and Maroon 5 again...or to go watch NFL gladiators take a knee at that billion-dollar, taxpayer-funded football stadium next Sunday. If they're going to force us to take the jab to get back to THAT, Michael says: Thanks, but no thanks! By the way, Remnant TV is both getting kicked off YouTube and moving to a brand-new new studio.  How's that going to work?
