Will Kiley was a high school educator who asked his students if the world was becoming more or less beautiful over time.  When he got the results of his anonymous survey, he was shocked to hear the results.  (You'll have to listen to hear the answer.) That led him to wonder if others in the world saw it the same way.  He was moved by the pastor of his church who left the ministry at the church to begin a ministry to help communities to utilize the leadership they already had and partner with the organization Help One Now.  The organization began after the pastor, who later became the founder of Help One Now, was on a mission trip to Zimbabwe where he happened upon a group of orphaned youths at a gas station while he and his team were on their way with food for another group of orphans.  They asked for some help, just food and water.  The pastor had a full truck of stuff he knew that the intended children could not do without, but he had to tell these children he had nothing for them.  That broke him and led him to his calling today.     Will, on the other hand, was moving from Austin, TX where he was an educator, to the Raleigh, NC area where his wife was being transferred for work.  He had been supporting Help One Now for a few years after hearing the “too good to be true” story Help One Now had and then found it was true.  Well, when he got to NC he found out the organization's headquarters was there and met up with his former church leader to find out they needed someone just like Will.  Some call this coincidence.  Will calls it faith played out.  Now Help One Now has a project in the Dominican Republic for the development of a school and a health care facility to have eyecare provided by a local optometrist.  You will want to know how you can help too.  But not just with your money.  Will wants to speak with you personally to see where you fit in and here a “too good to be true” story that really is true. In these communities, empowering families through education and entrepreneurship has proven to be the most effective course for long-term change, creating a hand up to build a better future for themselves. We briefly talk about the impact of the assassination of the president of Haiti. They are responding in an emergency effort to provide for those impacted. Haiti Emergency Relief 2021Every $1 provides 1 meal and every $500 provides food, shelter, and safety for a family. Haiti's President, Jovenel Moïse, was assassinated in the early morning of July 7th. The assassination was an “acute on chronic” event, meaning it has taken an ongoing problem and made it exponentially worse. Haiti is still under a state of siege. International news is focusing only on the ongoing investigation into the assassination, rather than the escalation of suffering and danger to vulnerable communities because of the instability and rise of gang violence.  Haiti relies heavily on its imported goods to meet the daily needs of its people. There has already been a fuel and food shortage, and all indicators show that this will only continue to grow due to gang control of the streets and ports. There are over 20,000 families who have been displaced and completely lost everything due to gang violence. The immediate priority for these families will be food, shelter, and safety to get through this time.  The leaders we partner with, and their teams are utilizing connections through local pastors and partners in these communities to ensure they can reach families and deliver aid to them. Get Inspired Tip #1: Invite your children into the harder stories - and the solutions Tweet to Inspire: "Invite your children into the harder stories." - @LisaJoBaker on @Inspired2Action --> http://wp.me/pnAs1-41X We can talk as much as we want to our kids about poverty and need, but until they're standing there among it, it's not the same. Moms are world changers right where we are - and we can do it while we change loads of laundry. Tweet to Inspire: "As moms, we can impact the world" @Inspired2Action --> http://wp.me/pnAs1-41X Tip #2: Give your children the opportunity to be the hands & feet of Jesus Tweet to Inspire: "Fight for children who don't have anyone else to fight for them" - @LisaJoBaker on @Inspired2Action --> http://wp.me/pnAs1-41X Partner with someone who can open the door to your family to be part of a story where you can make a difference. Look for ways to help in your neighborhood that include your children. Invite your children to activities that benefit organizations around the world, like Sole Hope or Operation Christmas Child. Include your children in random acts of kindness to help intentionally think of others. Don't miss God's nudges to invite you to be part of a story because you're busy with the day-to-day. If you're waiting to feel brave, you're never going to do anything - don't wait!
