Emily Coffman knows all about thriving as an athlete. She is a retired Division 1 athlete who was tired of girls feeling like they have to go on diets and strict workout plans in order to be healthy and reach their goals. She launched Girls Gone Healthy, a podcast where she helps overwhelmed girls learn where to start when it comes to getting in shape, feeling more confident in their body, and eating right. I loved talking with Emily because her passion for wellness is evident, and she’s not proposing anything extreme. The fitness industry would like us to believe that you can get the results you want with quick fixes and things that just don’t make any realistic sense. Getting in shape, feeling more energetic, becoming more confident.. this is all stuff that takes time… and Emily has some great examples and actionable tips today that will help you get there. I'm in awe of the Kansas City Chiefs and all the incredible life lessons they keep throwing our way! As I watched the AFC Championship game, and the post-game interviews, I took notes because there was so much goodness, and I knew I needed to share my observations. We can learn a lot from the Chiefs, and in this episode, I'm sharing seven life lessons I picked up on over the last 48 hours.  If you missed it, you might also love last week's episode where I talked about lessons from the speech Patrick Mahomes gave on the sidelines when they were down. The Kansas City Chiefs were down 24-0 in the first 20 minutes of the game last weekend. Everyone thought they were doomed. Quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, kept his cool, remained calm, and gave a speech to his team. "Let's do something special," he said. What can we learn from the speech that spurred the comeback? In this episode, I share four thoughts from Mahomes' speech that we can all apply to get the outcomes we want at work, in sports, and in life.   About Coach Kim: I’m the author of the new book, Holistic Endurance Training. Today on the podcast, I want to help you do a little dreaming, which I think is critical if you want to achieve big things. If you have some extra time throughout this holiday week, I encourage you to take some time to relax and daydream... and maybe even create your own vision board.   You might also like the following episodes related to resolutions and goal setting: Episode 65: https://powerup.libsyn.com/65-its-not-the-goal-but-who-you-become Episode 66: https://powerup.libsyn.com/66-training-for-life-not-for-fitness-or-your-next-pr Episode 68: https://powerup.libsyn.com/limiting-beliefs Episode 39: https://powerup.libsyn.com/mindset-shifts-to-help-you-rise Episode 35: https://powerup.libsyn.com/tiny-habits-that-will-transform-the-trajectory-of-your-life-and-running Episode 34: https://powerup.libsyn.com/how-to-develop-healthy-habits-and-make-those-resolutions-stick Episode 31: https://powerup.libsyn.com/whats-your-word-choosing-a-word-to-guide-your-year Episode 28: https://powerup.libsyn.com/set-up-your-environment-for-fitness-success About Coach Kim: I’m the author of the new book, Holistic Endurance Training. I always do a “what’s your word” post or podcast at the end of the year—all about choosing a phrase or word to focus on for the new year. And, this year is no different. But I want to put a little different spin on the exercise this year. Because New Year’s Resolutions are BOGUS. One of the resources I mention in this episode is James Clear's book, Atomic Habits, and you can find a link to the article I reference here: https://jamesclear.com/three-steps-habit-change You might also like the following episodes related to resolutions and goal setting: Episode 65: https://powerup.libsyn.com/65-its-not-the-goal-but-who-you-become Episode 66: https://powerup.libsyn.com/66-training-for-life-not-for-fitness-or-your-next-pr Episode 68: https://powerup.libsyn.com/limiting-beliefs Episode 39: https://powerup.libsyn.com/mindset-shifts-to-help-you-rise Episode 35: https://powerup.libsyn.com/tiny-habits-that-will-transform-the-trajectory-of-your-life-and-running Episode 34: https://powerup.libsyn.com/how-to-develop-healthy-habits-and-make-those-resolutions-stick Episode 31: https://powerup.libsyn.com/whats-your-word-choosing-a-word-to-guide-your-year Episode 28: https://powerup.libsyn.com/set-up-your-environment-for-fitness-success About Coach Kim: I’m the author of the new book, Holistic Endurance Training. I was honored to have Dr. Mark Cucuzzella for this episode. We covered a bunch of topics, including nutrition for runners, low carb vs high/moderate carb, how focusing on nutrition first can help those who are more sedentary feel like exercising, and the Nike Vaporfly controversy.  I've always thought of Dr. Mark as a biomechanics expert, but his knowledge runs much deeper. He is the author of Run for Your Life: How to Run, Walk, and Move Without Pain Or Injury and Achieve a Sense of Well-Being and Joy, as well as the owner of a running store, a university medical professor, a family practice doctor, an Air Force Reserve Lieutenant Colonel, and he conducts Continuing Medical Education courses on health, fitness, and running through HealthFitU and developed the US Air Force Efficient Running Program. I could have talked running with Dr. Mark all day. I hope you enjoy our chat!   About Coach Kim: I’m the author of the new book, Holistic Endurance Training.
