Dr. Holly Miller, Chief Medical Officer at MedAllies, discusses the importance of data interoperability and usability to provide clinicians and patients with information that can lead to better-informed decisions.  The Sequoia Data Usability Project focuses on ensuring that data is trustworthy and useable. MedAllies is involved in the related Taking Root Movement, which promotes the adoption of the Sequoia Data Usability Implementation Guide. Holly emphasizes the need for solutions to provide a friendly user interface and software design that improves the providers' workflow.   Holly explains, "Medallies offers multiple interoperable networks, ensuring the secure transmission of critical health information among healthcare constituents. It's important that the listeners understand that we've moved to a world where a lot of data is being captured electronically. To optimize clinician-patient decision-making and patients being able to make decisions for themselves, that data has to move across the healthcare environment to wherever someone is being seen for care." "This project and Sequoia understand that for healthcare constituents to adopt and use interoperability, the data has to be usable, reliable, and trustworthy. The data usability workgroup, currently comprised of 391 organizations with 486 participants, has focused on ensuring that data received through interoperability is trustworthy and usable. The first implementation guide by this group was published about a year ago and focused on data provenance, effective use of codes, reducing duplicates, data integrity, data tagging for searchability, and the effective use of narrative captured in electronic health records."   "In many cases, it's about making the right thing to do the easy thing. And so, the system's user interface, where the data comes across into an end-user system, has to be easy to use. Recent episodes of the riveting podcast "Murder in the Morning" with Tony Brueski and Stacy Cole have delved deep into the shocking developments surrounding the Alec Murdaugh case. With claims of jury tampering, concealed evidence, and a trial filled with twists and turns, the latest revelations may just turn the entire case on its head.    The Alec Murdaugh Scandal: Behind the Curtains of Justice    In the aftermath of the six-week trial that concluded on March 2nd, 2023, the Murdaugh case seemed relatively straightforward. Yet, recent episodes of "Murder in the Morning" reveal a web of deceit that casts shadows on the integrity of the judicial process. Hosts Tony Brueski and Stacy Cole shared damning evidence that suggests potential misconduct and bias in the courtroom.    "The defense began its case on Friday, February 17th, 2023," Brueski stated, highlighting the timeline of events. Curiously, the court was not held on February 20th, due to President's Day, and that's when things began to get murky. "After returning from the holiday, Ms. Hill began to enter the jury rooms often," Brueski continued, emphasizing the odd behavior of a key player in the trial.    Stacy Cole, in her signature analytical style, commented on the alleged influence of Ms. Hill on the jury, "As the defense began its case, Ms. Hill told jurors, y'all are gonna hear things that will throw you off. Don't let this distract you or mislead you." This, she mentioned, was confirmed by an affidavit from Holly Miller, a juror. Furthermore, the relationship between Ms. Hill and juror number 286, the new jury foreperson, raised eyebrows. The two were reportedly having private conversations, the content of which was never shared with other jurors.    One of the most chilling comments made by Brueski revolved around Alec Murdaugh's testimony: "Right before Alec went to take the stand, she goes to the jurors and says not to be fooled by the evidence Mr. Murtaugh's attorneys presented," a move that he called "fucking damning." This stark revelation was followed by another, where Ms. Hill allegedly instructed jurors to meticulously observe Murdaugh, indirectly implying his guilt.    But what was perhaps the most shocking twist of all was the discovery of a Facebook post. Ms. Hill claimed to have seen a post by Tim Stone, ex-husband of juror number 785, stating his ex-wife's alleged verdict intentions. "She could not produce a copy," said Cole, adding that a supposed apology post followed it. Yet, after investigations, it was found that the real Tim Stone never made such a post. The genuine post was made by an unrelated individual also named Tim Stone, leading to a grave misidentification.    The hosts didn't shy away from criticizing the evident misconduct in the trial. "He may be guilty as shit, but you can't run a trial like this. Not in America," Brueski passionately voiced, emphasizing the sanctity of the judicial process. Cole concurred, underscoring the importance of principles in the justice system, "Despite all the things that go wrong in our legal system... if we know for a fact that someone is tainting this and purposely trying to change verdicts, it needs to be redone."    The sheer gravity of the allegations has led many to question the validity of the entire trial, and whether Alec Murdaugh was indeed served justice. As the hosts of "Murder in the Morning" concluded their discussion, listeners were left with more questions than answers. Brueski aptly summed it up, "This is about the rule of law and how we function and what we say is right and what is wrong."    As this legal rollercoaster continues to unfold, listeners eagerly await the next episode, where Brueski and Cole will undoubtedly delve deeper into the shadowy corners of this perplexing case. Whatever the outcome, the revelations have firmly positioned the Murdaugh case in the annals of America's most controversial trials. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Dr. Miller is a board certified OB-GYN, wife of 20+ years, mother of four, and dedicated to ensuring you know everything you need to know about your feminine health. This episode is filled with questions that women tend to run from… When do we see a gynecologist? Why do we see gynecologists? Do we have to see a gynecologist? And the biggest question, why are we terrified of seeing a gynecologist? It's our goal with this episode to emphasize that your feminine health is extremely important, and you need to stop putting it on the back burner. Whether you're busy or scared something is wrong and you don't want to face it, you need to go see a gynecologist. It's that simple! Neglecting your health is no way to handle potential issues you may be facing. We know after listening, you'll feel comfortable and confident scheduling your next appointment! What else you'll learn: When a teenager should see a gynecologist When you should have your first pap smear How regularly you should have a pap smear and pelvic exams How to feel comfortable when seeing your gynecologist Important information you need to share with your gynecologist What a “normal cycle” should look like Symptoms you need to look out for throughout our womanhood Common issues you need to know are not normal When you need to begin getting regular mammograms The top things Dr. Miller wants you to know about your feminine health Why you never need to feel embarrassed! Would you choose a different life if you had the chance? Two people. One chance to turn back the clock. The unforgettable new novel from the author of The Songs of Us. If you love Cecilia Ahern and Holly Miller, you'll adore this heartwarming novel. On the last night in October 1999, the clocks went back, and Ella and Will's love began. A teenage Ella sat around a bonfire drinking with her future husband and her oldest friend, Cole. As Ella wandered away from the group, she found herself leaning against a derelict archway before passing out. The next day, Ella remembered fractured images of a conversation with a woman in a green coat and red scarf but dismissed it as a drunken dream. Twenty-three years later, with her marriage to Will in trouble, and Cole spiralling out of control, Ella opens a gift which turns her life upside down: a green coat and red scarf. When she looks in the mirror, the woman from the archway is reflected back at her. As the last Sunday in October arrives, Ella is faced with a choice. Would she choose a different life, if she could do it again?

Holly quotes“We turned 5-minute coaching into a survey for teachers. We asked them… and we were able to get an intimate understanding from the teachers. They were very vulnerable; they were very honest with it… so we could address their concerns” “They need you to be as successful as you want to be, because that makes the whole school successful!” (I wish I had done this differently) “I wish I had been able to get into classrooms and to do observations… to see them in situ with a class.” When did you decide you wanted to be a P? When I realized I could be an instructional leader. Lots of times as an assistant principal you are doing the operational things… but when I realized I had a vision and that I did want to move things forward instructionally. I went to my principal and said, ‘I feel weak in instruction' and he gave me the opportunities and coached me along the way.” “One of the things that helped was when I started reading outside the field of education.” “When you think of running a whole school it is daunting, and you think ‘I can't keep track of all this' but you can if you know what your focus is and you have a laser like focus on it, you don't lose sight of it, you can do it.” “That made the teachers relax a little, that we weren't going to change things, that we were just going to go deeper with it.” Advice for APs to grow their IL: “Work with a great team. We are meeting regularly and have expectations of what we expect to see.” “Part of a role of a principal… is to be looking for opportunities to grow your people. It can't rest with you. The more they grow, the better you are.” “It really is about instruction. You've got to look for those opportunities and ask for them…you can start small… use 5-minute coaching… to find out what's going on and what's working with a teacher.” “It is always going to be about relationships.” One thing: “It really is about relationships. It is about instructional leadership, but you can't do that without relationships. You can't coach them without realizing who they are.” Frederick Quotes “When we talk about vision in the strategic sense, it's really not about the 10,000 foot view, it's about how we translate that 10,000 foot view into daily operation.” “You don't have to have all the answers because you have people that you can develop the answers together” “The attitude of principals is ‘we want to help you grow.' So if you APs out there aren't getting the instructional leadership experiences, think about those specific experiences you want to gain and how they will help the school, and don't be afraid to go to your principal.”

Holly Miller was born into foster care and was adopted at the age of seven by the family with whom she had been in a long-term placement. The adoption conversation was always open, but she as she grew, she found she had more questions than answers because she simply didn’t know much about her life before her adoption. Her journey of working through the “who am I” questions led her down an interesting path that has recently resulted in a ministry that combines her passion for foster and adoptive children and their families with a need in her community.
