COVID killed the all-you-can-eat buffet, right? With fogged sneeze guards, giant shared tongs and serving spoons, communal cheese boards, bread baskets and chocolate fountains, buffet line etiquette issues, and the threat posed by double dippers…the all-you-can-eat-buffet suddenly became a high stakes game of food roulette forcing us to become amateur epidemiologists. But wait, post COVID, America's appetite for all-you-can eat gluttony has apparently returned - perhaps bigger than ever. Really, no really! We had to find out the reasons for the resurgence of the buffet and the complex relationship between food and desire. And to help explain the buffet's renewed appeal, economics, and practicalities, we enlisted one of the country's most knowledgeable restaurant experts… Restaurant Business Magazine Editor-in-Chief Jonathan Maze. Jonathan is a longtime industry journalist who writes about restaurant finance, mergers and acquisitions and the economy, with a particular focus on quick-service restaurants. He writes daily about the factors influencing the operating environment, including labor and food costs and various industry trends such as technology and delivery. He writes a weekly blog, “The Bottom Line,” and is the host of the weekly podcast “A Deeper Dive.” IN THIS EPISODE: Secrets of the buffet. A good deal for the consumer? The origin and appeal of unlimited gorging. Surprise, the reality of what restaurants do with repurposed food. Why we are consumed with consuming. Buffet horror stories you won't believe. Buffets: How safe are those oysters? The hottest new restaurant trends including Eatertainment! QUIZ: Top 20 buffet items – can you name them all? Googleheim: Is it pronounced boo-fay or buh-fay? Originally Uploaded October 4th Chris Holman welcomes George Franklin Lawyer, Lobbyist, Businessman, Candidate, Speaker, Author. George has worn a lot of hats in his career! President of Franklin Public Affairs LLC. has published several books and novels, Kalamazoo, MI In 2018 George was a Democratic candidate for Michigan's 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House. While he lost the primary, he survived to write about it with humor and insight in his tell-all book So You Think You Want to Run for Congress - published in 2019, now back with his latest book. In their conversation Chris looked to find out several things from George: Were the politicians in your new book based on real people? How does “Feeding Frenzy in Washington” relate to today's political climate? Is it particularly timely? How did you balance fact vs fiction in “A Feeding Frenzy in Washington?” How did your personal experience running for Congress and working at Kellogg help shape the narrative of this novel? Your career has brought you down many paths – lawyer, lobbyist, businessman, candidate, speaker and of course, author. Can you talk a bit about your multi-hat career trajectory? Let's face it: politics is pretty nuts. And who better to capture that wild, sometimes insane nature than George Franklin, a longtime lobbyist in Washington, D.C., Congressional candidate, and author. In his new book, “A Feeding Frenzy in Washington,” this former Fortune 500 corporate executive and Capitol Hill staffer pokes fun at DC and the politicians who comprise the circus we call Congress. But don't let the characters fool you—this is entirely a work of fiction. No, really, it is. In this episode, Curtis and I talk with George about what went into writing this book, his fourth to date. He talks about the characters and some real-life inspiration that worked its way into their creation. George has worked in Washington longer than some of us have been alive, and shares some of the people that he's met that resonated with him. He defines just what a lobbyist is (surprisingly, the movies and shows have it wrong!) and the work he did over the years. Of course, this interview wouldn't be complete without asking George the all-important question. When it comes to democracy in 2023, are we going to be OK?

As we remember 9/11, we watch our president mumble around in Vietnam calling for a new railroad in Africa and telling reporters he needs to go to bed. Oh, and they cut off his mic and ended his speech and he didn't even know it. Oh, brother. In Texas, Tucker Carlson takes the stage in a speech against Republican governor Greg Abbott for not sending the National Guard to the border. You have to hear this. Jalon Daniels was electric for the Kansas Jayhawks, K-State was impressive in all three phases again and Mizzou got away with one looking ahead to this week's game against the Wildcats. Also, the Big 10 stinks and the SEC West has egg on it's face. We go around the NFL from Sunday, including Tuo and Tyreek who had a feeding frenzy at the expense of the Chargers. Novak Djokovic wins the US Open sponsored by Moderna... the exact shot he refused to take. Tyler Reddick wins at Kansas Speedway in OT and a former Yankee sets old timers day on fire with his conservative comments.

The Jimmy Buffet-branded Margaritaville venues were all in top operating order by the time the busy summer season started this year. These include the 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill, License to Chill, Feeding Frenzy and Lah de Dah Bar—all reporting robust sales. Listen as Stelly describes the new food and drink concepts and their impact on sales, how she managed to quickly train staff in Margaritaville style before the summer rush and what's in store as Phase 2 gets underway later this year.

I glanced out my second-floor window and then did a double-take. On the grass below was a doe. The sight of deer in my yard usually just makes me fear for my garden, but as the doe shifted slightly, her tiny, spotted fawn came into view beneath her belly. The cuteness of baby animals is irresistible, even if they do grow into broccoli thieves.

[READ FULL DESCRIPTION] https://the-masters-voice.com Today's word: Judgement will come to America without delay, mercy or reduction of sentence. For having a hard heart that says "What am I guilty of, what is my crime?" God will judge this land to the full extent of His heavenly law. SIN SHAMES A NATION, the sins of America have bloodied her skirts because of abortion, human sacrifice and murder. It's late winter at Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge on Sanibel Island, Florida. Many birds have finished nesting, and young birds are everywhere. This morning, wind and tide have conspired to strand schools of fish in backwater ditches. And the birds are taking advantage of it. It's a feeding frenzy! White Ibises, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, and American White Pelicans join in. Thanks to the National Wildlife Refuge System, these birds - and many others - can thrive in protected habitats.More info and transcript at BirdNote.org. Want more BirdNote?
