Well, we finally made it: The Definitive Podcast (jodcast?) on medieval Jewish culture. After the destruction of the Second Temple, Jews were scattered across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Despite often-brutal repression, many Jews thrived, creating new communities, cultural expressions, and even languages. Despite marginalisation, Jewish women were also key to this evolution, enthusiastically contributing to spiritual and cultural life in dynamic ways. And even though they were a minority almost everywhere, some Jews rose to become major political leaders. Programming note: WMG will be going on hiatus until the end of Summer. But never fear! We will be back, with "The Norman Conquests" - a globetrotting adventure from Ireland to Palestine, featuring a cast of colourful characters including proud warrior-kings, marauding pirates, and a fearsome empress. Oh, and former frog Joe Mason will be there. Don't say we don't spoil you. In the meantime, why not join the WMG Discord community, a community of lovely people who love chatting about history. https://discord.gg/ZwHz5JDKky
Welcome to another enlightening episode of The Hot Dish, comfort food for middle America. We've curated a rich and thoughtful discussion to explore key issues impacting rural and urban communities alike. In this episode, Joel has a fascinating conversation with Dee Davis, the founder of the Center for Rural Strategies. Dee discusses the foundational importance of human connections and shared experiences to bridge the gaps between rural and urban areas. He also highlights The Daily Yonder, the Center's publication dedicated to amplifying rural voices.Joel also dives deep into the complexities of gun policy with Joe Mason and T.D. Hill, co-founders of Pro Gun Democrats. They bring a nuanced perspective on finding a middle ground in the gun control debate, advocating for common-sense measures like a three-day waiting period and banning binary triggers and bump stocks.Joe Mason sheds light on the resistance to change from organizations like the NRA and stresses the importance of one-on-one discussions to foster understanding and common ground. T.D. Hill shares insights on the challenge of shifting deeply ingrained talking points but finds hope in individual conversations leading to agreement on sensible measures.Join us on The Hot Dish every other week, where we serve up hearty conversations that resonate with every corner of the country. To learn more, visit https://onecountryproject.orgCenter for Rural Strategies: https://www.ruralstrategies.org/ The Pro Gun Democrat: https://theprogundemocrat.com/

He provides insights into Cardiff's current struggles, financial issues, his friend Joe Ralls' leadership, and improvements under caretaker manager Riza. The discussion shifts to "Rooneyball," balancing traditional tactics with modern strategies, and Joe's thoughts on Andre Gray's mid-season signing, including the challenges of joining a team midway through a campaign. He also shares his experience playing under a high-profile manager, in his case, Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Tom and Archie wrap up with updates on potential investment, TalkSport's Rooney obsession, Dewsnip's points target, and a possible January move for Cissoko.Any contribution towards running costs is always welcome:https://ko-fi.com/pilgrimspodcast Hosted on Acast. It's grim up north...Why did a five-hundred-year-old Viking colony in Greenland suddenly disappear, with no trace or record? In this episode, Olivia, Aran, and local archaeologist Joe Mason assemble to try and solve one of the most enduring mysteries in medieval history. It's a quest that will take them out of the libertarian "paradise" of 11th century, to the freezing walrus-infested shores of Greenland, and beyond - to the promised land of Vinland. Along the way they'll encounter Native American ghosts, Inuit revenge epics, and the Vikings' love of pointless, cyclical violence.Sources:The Saga of the Greenlanders: https://vidforul.wordpress.com/the-saga-of-the-greenlanders/The Saga of Erik the Red: https://sagadb.org/eiriks_saga_rauda.en"Tales and Traditions of the Eskimo" by Hinrich Johannes Rink: https://sacred-texts.com/nam/inu/tte/index.htmMusic used:Peta, Etulu & Susan - This Land is Your Land (Inuktitut) - https://citizenfreak.com/titles/319453-peta-etulu-susan-songs-by-etulu-susan-petaOlafur reid med Bjorgum fram - https://www.loc.gov/item/2017701460/

Joe Mason graduated with Web Development Cohort 52. Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, I finally moved to Nashville in January 2019 after several years of visits and vacations. A bartender by trade, I've always had a knack for tech. From building PC's to writing code and everything in between. As I got older, I found myself more and more interested in software development. That led me to several different free online courses and youtube tutorials. In 2019, I decided that coding was something I thought I could make a career out of but I wanted more professional direction. That's when I found Nashville Software School. I attended an info session at the school in the winter of 2019 with plans to apply for the spring. Unfortunately, Covid-19 had other plans...Fast forward a year and a half however, and I was invited to join Cohort 52! It has been a wonderful experience so far and I look forward to what comes next!
In this podcast we address the current issue in the UK and that is mass inflation. We talk about contributing factors towards this and also how people's money in the bank and groceries are being affected by this. With figures coming out in the UK that inflation is 7.5% in the UK. We also talk about what actually is bitcoin? How does it work? How did it start? What is blockchain technology? How safe is bitcoin? And the future of Bitcoin. Furthermore we talk about how it could be a great way not only to counter the drastic rise of inflation across the UK which is around 7.5% but also how it can help people accumulate a lot of wealth over time. We also talk about how most people don't understand how billionaires actually have wealth. We also address a big concern of many bitcoin users which is can the UK government and also governments around the world interfere and stop bitcoin and the citizens from owning it? Finally we discussed with both me and the guest how we would invest £2000 in the current state with things like inflation and unpredictability of the stock market and techniques for investing. I felt I needed to talk about bitcoin and the role it has as this is a libertarian podcast. And I really think the infrastructure and the power bitcoin is giving to the people away from central banks is amazing and will be a resistance in the future against the governments overarching there power. I hope you guys learnt a lot from this episode. Sunday the 26th of February 2012, and the man whose goal had led Liverpool to their first League Cup win 31 years earlier now lead the side out in the Final as manager. Kenny Dalglish, who had returned the Anfield dugout a year earlier, faced off against Malkay Mackay's Cardiff City. Joe Mason fired Cardiff into a early lead before Liverpool's eventual player of the season Martin Skrtel scrambled the ball home to level things up. Despite pressure from Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez, Liverpool couldn't find the decisive goal, and the game headed to extra time. Substitute Dirk Kuyt found his shot from distance blocked back into his path, and at full stretch managed to power it back at goal, rifling it into the bottom corner. The drama did not end there though, and after a melee in the box, a Cardiff corner was turned past Pepe Reina by Ben Turner in the 118th minute to send the game to penalties. Kuyt, man of the match Stewart Downing and Glen Johnson all converted, and with a final miss from Anthony Gerrard, cousin of the Liverpool skipper, the Reds lifted the trophy for a record extending 8th time. As Steven Gerrard lifted the trophy in Cardiff, few knew that it would be their last silverware for seven years… Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/redmentv. In the latest episode of the CanPL.ca Newsroom, hosts Kristian Jack, Charlie O'Connor Clarke, Benedict Rhodes, Marty Thompson, and Brady Reid tee up the Canadian men's national team's massive week as they open the final round of 2022 World Cup qualifying. The gang discusses the Canada squad called by John Herdman (5:01) hashes out a projected XI (8:08) vs. Honduras (7:30pm ET on OneSoccer) and debate how many points it would take for, dare we say it, Canada's qualification for the World Cup. Up next is Canadian Premier League action, starting with Forge FC's swashbuckling win over York United Saturday (20:31). How has Woobens Pacius become such an integral part of this Hamilton squad and, a more theoretical question spurred on by Barton St. Battalion, who are Forge FC? Next is Atletico Ottawa's 2-2 draw to HFX Wanderers FC (26:29) in a match that defies description or logic. Regardless, Marty tries to parse Ryan Telfer's red card and yet another match in which Stephen Hart's Wanderers side dropped points. Sunday's second of three matches on the day, Al Classico between FC Edmonton vs. Cavalry FC (34:02), brought a debate among the guys with Charlie gushing over Joe Mason and others simply commiserating with an FC Edmonton side that just can't quite crack their Albertan rivals. Finally, Pacific FC's 3-2 win over Valour FC (39:29) as the Tridents continue the momentum from their Canadian Championship midweek victory. Has Terran Campbell found a new gear and just what went wrong for Valour?

LTC Heroes - A podcast for Long-Term Care & Skilled Nursing Facilities
Challenges as a Young Leader in LTC In this episode of the LTC Heroes podcast, Joe Mason, Administrator of Prairie Manor, sits down with us to share his experience of being a young leader in the LTC Industry. At only 28 years of age, Joe already has many years under his belt as a successful LTC administrator. He shares that building confidence as a young leader is a process, and that there's always a little bit of imposter syndrome you have to work through. These insecurities, however, can help you stay on your toes and strive to improve everyday. LTC Culture Joe discusses the cultural changes that he's seen over his years as an administrator, including the push to make LTC facilities feel more like home for the residents. Part of accomplishing this, according to Joe, is to give residents as much autonomy as possible so that they feel like they are playing a bigger part in their plan of care. He says that some unique traits he brings to the table as a young administrator is having a deep understanding of technology and systems, which allows him to support other staff with new technologies. He also notes that his ability to be decisive has played a big role in his success. Learn more and sign up to be notified about future episodes at LTCHeroes.com. Rapid Fire Q/A What valuable or actionable advice will we chat about that might be helpful for someone else in our industry? I think regulation is always a hot topic about long-term care. We get regulation from so many different areas, whether that is CMS, CDC, Department of Health, Department of Human Services, and regulation is always a topic. What is one lesser-known book, newsletter, or industry resource that you would send me to understand long-term care? Leading Age, for our area especially, is a huge resource for me. On a not so long-term care-related topic, Ted Talks. I love TED Talks. I always listen to TED Talks and they help me become a better leader. Name one mentor that has influenced the way that you deliver care in our industry? Chad Stroschein, the President of Caring Professionals. He's the one who gave me my first job at 21 years old. He had that faith and confidence in me. And if you are in long-term care in South Dakota, you probably know the name Chad Stroschein or Caring Professionals. He's a wonderful guy so big shout out to him. He also helped me with confidence. He was a man of faith, and I am as well. He just taught me to embrace that faith in my professional life, as well as my personal life. What advice would you give to your younger self? Putting out those fires, having those tough talks, and being more present is the most important thing for me personally, especially given my personality. And I would tell myself to have that confidence and not to be afraid to pick up that phone. Don't be afraid to ask questions. People are generally nice, and they don't want to upset you or to hold you back. So if you just talk to them and ask questions, they'll help you.
