Dr. Mike McCulloch is a University of Plymouth lecturer in geomatics, physicist, and author who is best known for developing Quantized Inertia, a cosmological explanation for Newton's first law that states an object in motion will tend to stay in motion. We discuss the principles of quantized inertia as a derivation of photon pressure at the cosmological horizon in the form of Unruh radiation, the path to formulating an mathematical formulation for an everything-is-connected universe, and how the Casimir effect that emerges from the theory can be used to engineer novel, combustion-less propulsion mechanisms. CalmRadio.UpliftingPills.com Instagram.com/UpliftingPills Gratefulness and humility are two qualities that elevate humankind. Combined, they cushion our falls in life. Because in a way, they help us "fall upwards", such that our hardships become catalyst for ever greater appreciation of blessings we once had, and ones we continue to have. When we let go of entitlement, we develop a sense of awe towards everything we get to experience, no matter the magnitude or level of familiarity. Lee Brown (IG @fallingup79) writes some beautiful heartfelt reflections. He shared with me the following passage that he wrote while listening to a Calm Pill mix: "I am humbled that I get to be here for a little while. That I get to experience taste, touch, sight, and sound. I'm in awe that I get to feel deeply. That I get to experience joy and sadness, love and loss. I'm amazed at being broken open and becoming whole again. What a gift to be on this great journey. What an honor to be the hands and feet of the universe. To reach into the unknown and find meaning — and ultimately myself." Making this mix was a labor of love. The Scripture readings are Genesis 4:1-15; 1 Corinthians 15:1-10; and Luke 18:9-14.Adam and Eve fell into sin, but they fell by trying to go upward. They rose up in pride. They exalted themselves. Believed in themselves. Trusted in themselves. They desired to rise high, up to godly and divine status. Ever since that moment, everyone who has ever been born has the same desire to exalt themselves. The Pharisee exalts himself, his holy living and good works. The tax collector, on the other hand, sees only two things: the just demands of a holy God and his own sinfulness and depravity. He looks at himself where there is no hope and to God where the only hope lies. He sees the gap and cries out for mercy (lit. ‘propitiation' or that God would be made to be the atoning sacrifice for him). The tax collector leaves the Temple with God having become the propitiation for his sins, so he goes down to his house justified. And that is an important point to keep in mind. The tax collector goes home declared by God to be holy and just no matter how despicable he was. He goes home a changed man. He now goes down to his house to live out a holy life. God could have forgiven him and swept him immediately up into heaven like Jesus did with the thief on the cross. But God doesn't. And God hasn't done that for you – not yet anyway. The tax collector goes home justified and that makes a difference for him, his family, his neighbors, and for the entire world. By God's grace freely given through Jesus, the tax collector is made to be a lamp. Christ lights that lamp and Jesus' mercy shines in and through the tax collector. He has been enlightened by Christ which means that God sends him down to his house justified and placed on a lampstand to give light to the whole house (Mt. 5:14-16).

Chad talks about another wonderful adventure he had while filming. Let’s just say he was victim to Murphy’s Law for a week……..
Success is never about falling down or even simply about falling down and getting back up over and over again. It's about using the downward momentum to propel ourselves in the opposite direction. It's not about falling down, but falling up!
Failure in life is inevitable, we all experience failure in different ways. Reframing failure is a great way to work through the struggles we experience in life. Today we discuss how we can Fall Up and make the most of those situations that become a struggle in our lives. And as educators we make sure to talk about the ABCDs of Falling Up!
Life is full of aversions and challenges. Today we talk about challenges that we face in life and how the Happiness Advantage can help us through these struggles. Teaching has always been a hard profession, and this pandemic has made it even harder. Today we talk about those implications and how we can start to work through some of the struggle.
It's the week of Thanksgiving here in the US and in this week's episode of Pages n' Pages we talk about all the books we're thankful exist. ADVERSITY is part of the human experience and learning to cope with it has shaped my life and been a great teacher of resilience. I am where I am because of experiencing loss, heartbreak and perceived failures like getting fired (more than once!). My guest for this episode, Performance Psychologist and Purpose-Driven Speaker, Dr. Gregg Steinberg, has taught me a ton about emotional toughness and turning adversity into strength. Here he teaches the what and the how of embracing adversity to live a fulfilled and meaningful life or what Gregg calls FALLING UP. Prepare to take notes because Gregg gets into the nitty gritty and by the end you will have what you need to raise your game under pressure, perform in the storm and set you on the path of transcendence. Tune in and check out Dr. Gregg's TED talk, How to Fall Up and visit his website for information on courses and resources.
In Episode 025 we chat with Australian singer songwriter Dean Lewis who recently dropped his single "Falling Up." From making a global impact with his single "Be Alright", we talked about how his success inspired the oxymoron of succeeding and falling at the same time. His writing process comes naturally and of course we discussed how this art has impacted his life over the years. We invited a special guest onto this episode too. He toured North America with Dean in 2019 - Scott Helman. This was a fun episode to shoot. Enjoy and hangout! For business inquiries contact: thehangoutseries@gmail.com

From the moment he arrived in New York City from Northern Ireland, solo artist Paul McGilloway has been carving out his own signature style. Inspired by legends like AC/DC's Angus Young and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page, Paul developed his own innovative sound by drawing on Page and Young's brilliant proficiency and technique. The results can be heard on his 2020 debut album “Fear of Falling Up,” a collection of carefully crafted songs that feature soulful melodies and shimmering atmospheric guitars. In this episode Paul talks about growing up during the period of conflict in Northern Ireland known as The Troubles, his first band appropriately named Local Chaos, his journey to New York City, and how answering a classified ad ultimately led to sharing the stage with such greats as ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons, Moby, Glenn Tillbrook of Squeeze, and actor Jim Carrey.

My guest today is Allen Hinds, a player that most certainly possesses what I like to call the “Three T's of guitar playing”- Touch, Tone, and Taste. Allen is originally from Alabama but has lived in Southern California most of his life and found a home at the world famous Musicians Institute in Hollywood (where we first met when I was a student there in the early 90's). Along the way he has also built a successful career as a sideman (Gino Vanelli, BeBe and CeCe Winans, Randy Crawford, Hiroshima, etc..) and solo artist with 5 solo records to his name - Fly South, Monkeys and Slides, Falling Up, Beyond it All, and Fact of the Matter. His new yet to be released record entitled “The Good Fight” should be available very soon. In this interview, which took place at Allen's house in Laurel Canyon, we discuss his teaching career, legato technique, Gino Vanelli stories, playing over chord changes, how slide guitar playing has been a big part of his sound, and much more.
