The "PLT" & Overrated/Underrated Pt 1 | EP 66 Every once in a while, we get to introduce the world to a new drink that never existed before! The "PLT" is just that, named after the Pine Lakes Tavern in Myrtle Beach, SC. Malibu Rum, and tropical juice with a splash of soda, this is the perfect way to end summer. AND, we decide to steal, we mean replicate/copy out of admiration (sorry Garry Vee) a piece of content our buddy Gary Vaynerchuck does called "Overrated/Underrated". In fact, we like this concept so much that we are going to do 2 episodes of this...so enjoy part 1! Cheers!

Episode 030 Pentecost w/the Pentecostals (Assemblies of God), Memorial Day, and CocktailsThis week we revisited our Pentecostal friends, but this time with the Assemblies of God denomination. Wendy's sister, Carla, joins us to share our cocktail of the week (in place of the wine of the week) and it is delicious. We discuss a brief history of the Assemblies of God, and what makes them different from other Pentecostal denominations and other Christian sects. We discuss why we chose Pentecost Sunday to revisit the Pentecostals, why we were the only ones in that sanctuary who knew or cared that it was Pentecostal Sunday, Joshua points out that Wendy wore the wrong color for Pentecost--and Wendy reminds Joshua that he isn't exactly a trend setter. Joshua talks about what made this service surprisingly boring for him, having had a history in the Pentecostal movement. We especially discuss the significance of Memorial Day in this service and the way in which the church sometimes engages in nationalistic idol worship, but we also discuss the struggle that Christians have in taking time to talk about the human cost of war and provide space in communities of faith for those who have experienced it firsthand.Carla's "King Kong" cocktail recipe:A rocks glass with crushed or cubed ice1 Church Hoppers Shotglass (or any 1 oz shot glass) of Svetka Strawberry Colada (vodka)1 oz Malibu Rum (or other coconut rum)1 oz pineapple juice1/4 oz of sweetened lime juiceA splash of SpriteChopped strawberries for the garnishStir and enjoy! For an OFFICIAL view of the Assemblies of God, visit their website ag.org
