What's the difference between an average person and a billionaire? The average person works extremely hard. They equate hard work with success. And they give up too easily when confronted with obstacles. What do billionaires do? They know how to use their minds better. They look at obstacles to pivot to their goals. And they are not necessarily working harder but working smarter. They also know how to access the “librarian” of their minds. This is where all good ideas come from. In today's episode, Marx Acosta-Rubio, a successful business owner and coach, joins us. You'll discover mindset hacks to achieve your goals and to live a purposeful life. All successful people have a formula for success, and it all starts with how they use their mind. Listen now. Show highlights include: The “worldview” technique to change your financial destiny (so that you don't work until your grave) (6:53) Two things to avoid like a plague to double your income (9:38) The “Indiana Jones” method What Indiana Jones can teach you about success and entrepreneurship (16:17) The two cognitive biases that's keeping you trapped from hitting your financial goals (17:05) Why focusing on just money will make you fail as an investor (21:06) Use this popular productivity book to get more things done in a day (22:06) How to take 150 days off in a year and still have time for your business (26:57) The “Eureka” technique to create cash flowing ideas for your business (29:45) What Ray Dalio does to solve complex business problems (without lifting a finger) (31:23) To connect with Marx Acosta-Rubio, please contact him at: https://www.callmarx.com/ If you liked the episode, leave me a review on whichever app you listen to podcasts on. We're back with another show, chatting with our friend and fellow podcaster Angelo Sisco from Alpha Hippie. One of the things we talk about is having stories around specific things, and how when you listen to others tell stories about the same thing, you can have a reframe and change your perception around this subject. Everything is a frequency, and Angelo has such a deep level of awareness which he trained himself into, and he walks a different plane than most people. You will have so many a-ha moments as you listen to Angelo explain how to reframe your mind and use both feminine and masculine energy to be successful in your business. Being a storyteller also has many benefits, and creating your own energetic energy in your life will put you in the right frame of mind. Angelo gives an overview of how he works with clients to create an identity alchemism shift, as well as the secret weapon he uses to change his frequency to match the situation he puts himself in. When you have finished, be sure to check out our previous chat with Angelo and our show with Marx Acosta-Rubio as we talk about how to get over those thoughts which are holding you back to create the mindset you need to move ahead. “So much of what holds our lives back is having those past thoughts and experiences and that's why being able to give good stories and recreate stories in our minds creates new thought patterns, new neural pathways, and expands us, and then we can allow for shifts.” - Angelo Sisco Some Topics We Discussed Include: How reading the Goosebumps stories as a kid, helped to build a career When telling a great story leads to analogies and insight You'll never think about tobacco in the same way again after hearing what Angelo has to say The meaning behind the identity alchemist and how you can become your best version of yourself How to change your identity to become a wealthy person Where the best McDonald's in the world is located! Brian Kurtz joins us for round two today, and we really love how open he is and how he dives into his wisdom from his book, Overdeliver. We talked about the shifts and pivots people had to make over the last year from going to live events to online conversations. Plus, we chat about the things we’ve had to shave off from our own lives and what we can stop doing, which is something that’s not talked about as much. It’s that non-negotiable part of our lives, which we have individually and collectively been saying no to lately. Something else Brian discusses is non-negotiables in our lives and knowing that if we don’t want to do it, if it’s not fun, which is the main theme of our show lately. We have stopped glorifying the money part of the business but instead, try to glorify our lifestyles. You’ll also hear Brian’s thoughts on what he’s learned from the marketing greats, such as Perry Marshall, Jay Abraham, and Dan Kennedy, and even Picasso, how he uses what he’s learned from direct marketing over the years as well as how he is getting amazing open rates with his emails. After you have listened, you’ll want to check out our chats with Mike Long and Marx Acosta-Rubio for more talk about how to make the best use of your time while using this current economy to your advantage. “If you have content, not everybody is going to see the content all of the time. Marx Acosta-Rubio joins us today for yet another episode and he’s probably the smartest guy we know when it comes to doubling your income and increasing your revenue while also taking more time off to do the fun stuff. We go very deep as always, as he lists out all these amazing tools and principles, such as the Hawthorne Effect, the Getting Things Done principle, the 80/20 rule, the Vital Three, and many more. Then, because he’s read so many books, he’s distilling information from these foundational books and wraps them up into a process that you can apply to your business and your life. The goal here is to double your income to yourself while also doubling your time off. Even though this is counter-intuitive, the more you contain your work time, and plan for trips and/or fun stuff, that’s going to allow you to focus on the core things you need to get done to achieve what you want to achieve. We cover six specific principles in this episode that you can apply, and you’ll see how when you tie them all together, it’s both possible and something special. After you’ve listened, be sure to check out our conversations with Dr. Steve Ruden and David Allen for more information on havening and how to change your habits to get things done. “That’s one of the tricks and how we do that is when the only thing on your mind is the only thing on your mind, and you are aware of that, then time slows down.” - Marx Acosta-Rubio Some Topics We Discussed Include: How to slow the day time so you can put a week’s worth of experiences in a day Wise lessons from Bruce Lee The 3 laws that need to be invoked to really move the needle How to get yourself out of your business plateau The Power of Three A walkthrough of Marx’ day and the keys elements to starting off your morning right The $1,000 a day question we ask Putting Parkinson’s law into play as you work The three steps for delegation and which one to use when Really thinking about the love strategies for those close to you Dealing with more dangers and more opportunities ahead Resources From Marx Acosta-Rubio: You can reach out to Marx at: MarxAR@Me.com References and Links Mentioned: Unreasonable Success by Richard Koch Getting Things Done by David Allen Wim Hof breathing method Are you ready to be EPIC with us?! From being homeless to becoming a formidable strongman to switching gears to a successful business entrepreneur, you’ll really enjoy today’s show with Nic Peterson. We dive into his interesting past, how he’s been able to use his method of zero loss aversion to starting a host of various businesses, and how he’s partnered with some brilliant minds to not only better himself, but showcase his improvement to others and turning it into a well-known fitness and nutrition business. He also talks about the gym he started where he went from actually living in the warehouse-like building to transforming it into one of the biggest, highest priced gyms in the area, catering to high-end clients. In addition to all the companies he runs which include a specific type of mastermind, he chats about how he’s able to do it all, setting priorities correctly, and how you too can zone in to reach your goals as quickly as possible. If you like some of what Nic has to say, be sure to check out these past episodes with Dan Kuschell and Marx Acosta-Rubio that really hit home about taking aligned action to become the protagonist in your own life story. “You may have priorities that are diametrically opposed. You have to pick one, then attack the other one. A lot of people want to have as much money right now as possible but they also want to have as many followers as possible, so you have to pick one. Make a bunch of money, then pay for followers or get a bunch of followers then make money from them. You’re not going to go anywhere if you are trying to maximize both at the same time.” - Nic Peterson Some Topics We Discussed Include: How Nic went from homeless to making $100k with his mastermind Getting out of your slump with projects that don’t excite you Attracting high-end clients by saying the right words From powerlifting to losing weight and the birth of a nutrition company How to set your priorities to determine which one should come first Why not to name the puppy at the shelter - don’t even think about it! Marx Acosta-Rubio is an immigrant Deca-millionaire. With a success story all can aspire to with powerful business growth strategies. Sure, we’re always marveled at the billionaires or those who have earned hundreds of millions of dollars in selling their companies or getting in early on a cool venture. Some people are lucky like that. But… what about for the rest of us? How do we REALLY attain millions of dollars and still achieve a happy life with wife (or hubby) and kids, friends, health, etc.? Marx made his first millions of dollars (CASH) growing a company that sells toner and office supplies via the phone. Not sexy, not Internet based, not Uber(ish) and not technology based either. It’s much harder and much more admirable to earn tens of millions of dollars selling a commodity. And doing it with zero cash to start. Marx was born in Caracas Venezuela, and migrated to the U.S. in October 1st 1977. He spoke no English and was being raised by a single mom. He got in trouble at school, only got D’s and F’s and flunked 5th grade. His mom sent him back to live in Venezuela during the 10th grade because she could not afford to feed him. By the time Marx got back, there wasn’t much hope for him. He smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day, woke up with a beer and went to sleep with a Whiskey. He had been in shootouts and caused havoc wherever he went. But one day Marx had an epiphany. By the time he was 28 he was making $250,000 selling for an organization, which fired him after 3 ½ years. He got fired because the owner of the company lacked integrity and Marx let him know it. By this time he owned a home, had a beautiful wife and had a one-year-old baby boy but zero money in the bank. In fact, he was still $35,000 in debt. So as soon as he got home, he told his wife he was fired and she quickly put the kids at grandmas, got a biz license and made Marx get on the phone the very next day. First year he sold $800,000 on the phone. By age 31 he had $1 million CASH in the bank. By 37 he had over $10 million CASH in the bank. By 38 he had $0 CASH in the bank, and by 39 He had NEGATIVE $2 million After wanting to give up and asking himself “why bother?”… he built it back up, only this time he did it faster, smarter and with much more diversity than the first time. Now at 48, he is worth more (in CASH) than he ever was. It’s one thing to go from rags to riches. It’s another thing to go from rags to riches to rags, to negative rags, to more riches. Marx will share the principles that really work and are still working for him and many other entrepreneurs. Now Marx owns or has part ownership in thirteen companies where he focuses on helping them grow and develop into better companies. He has developed a principle called V2GP2 . Which he applies and always works. He has also developed what the REAL ROLE of the entrepreneur should be. When he helps entrepreneurs implement this into their businesses, they experience stratospheric growth. This ain’t the typical “ we’re CRUSHING IT” internet marketing hype.” Marx is all about the truth. His system generates REAL business growth in any industry. Listen intently to Marx when he shares the four aspects of the entrepreneur’s role. What really separates his organizations, which are doing much better than any of their competitors. His V2GP2 formula and how he is running his organizations now and how he came back from disaster, where he almost lost it ALL (Wife and kids included). Want more from Marx? http://www.callmarx.com
When unveiling a new healing method to the public, it generally takes 17 years or more to be accepted by the mainstream. The fact that Dr. Steve Ruden and his brother Ronald have organically grown the practice of havening in 22 countries in eight languages in three years is nothing short of incredible. Flashback to 2004 when Dr. Ruden’s brother discovered the practice of TFT while in residency. He used it to cure a phobia of a staff member and was so inspired, he spent the next couple of hours working through perceived “traumas” or blocks of everyone on staff. For the next five years, the brothers worked on the neuroscience behind why a method such as TFT worked and developed havening, the method as it is known today. Havening is an alternative healing method to reframe the brain’s recollection of a traumatic or red flag event so that it can no longer negatively affect the behavior, health or emotional state of the patient when they are triggered by a current event that subconsciously recalls said trauma. In today’s episode, we team up with Marx Acosta Rubio to discover what the havening practice is, how to shift out of limiting beliefs and into desired behaviors, and why this particular method of healing the brain works from a scientific perspective. If this episode has you into ways you can shift your own mindset, be sure to check into Marx Acosta-Rubio’s episode on framing your mindset for success as well as David Allen’s episode about prioritizing the importance of what you choose to do on the daily. "People need to come to believe that change is possible. You can actually change the circumstances if you so desire to.”- Dr. Steven Ruden Some Topics We Discussed Include: How does someone practice self-havening? The scientific explanation behind why so many people are stuck in their limiting beliefs and how they can remove the roadblocks quickly How havening works to change not only how people perceive things but how the body responds to things The importance of the interconnectedness of the cortex, amygdala, neurons and glial cells to mapping new behaviors Who pitches underhand lob and who throws the grenades? Marx says he was sparring, not fighting when havening saved the day Why does havening supercharge affirmations? In order for change to occur, one first has to believe this How to practice self-havening at the start of your day and foster greater resilience The two layers surrounding your values that are important for awareness and change How to use words to create the lense of your perception that you desire The differences between havening and EFT People who are best served with a havening session or a self-havening practice The seven havening subsets practitioners use to treat traumatic blocks Definition of a red flag event and why it is such a powerful behavior modifier Yet another reason why calcium is important for a healthy body How havening can improve a company culture Contact Dr. Steve Ruden: Visit the website at havening.org Watch Tam Johnston on YouTube demonstrate havening Send Dr. Steve an email at info@havening.com to report on your self-havening progress References and Links Mentioned: The Past Is Always Present by Ronald Ruden Marx Acosta-Rubio - How To Achieve Massive Success In Whatever You Do David Allen - How A Simple New Habit Will Change Your Life And Reduce Your Stress If a success mindset is something you struggle to foster, learn how we can help. One simple question took a 9-year-old boy from wanting to be President of the United States to a completely different path of enlightening millions. Thankfully, David Allen took that question to heart and the Getting Things Done (GTD) method was allowed to be born. After years of field research on productivity, David scored a position with his own productivity mentor, Dean, by handing over a referral to his newfound teacher. Partnering up to experience Dean’s “personal information management” system first hand gave David all the inspiration he needed to create GTD. In this episode, special guest host Marx Acosta Rubio joins in to uncover David’s five-step GTD method, advice on discovering your true life’s purpose, definition of productivity, and beliefs about the link between productivity and spiritual discovery. If a productive and focused mind is what you crave, be sure to check out this podcast with Marx Acosta Rubio and this episode with Brad Spencer. “I haven’t had anybody give me any reason that halfway in between works.”- David Allen Some Topics We Discussed Include: Is the secret to success best discovered by taking a nap? Marx Acosta-Rubio, 38 Onestop, Canoga Park, California Projected 2008 sales: $22 million Description: Office consumables distributor for small businesses Against all odds: The saying "been there, done that" rings true for Marx Acosta-Rubio. That's not to say he doesn't have room to grow. But over the years, he's encountered almost every roadblock possible. The day in 1998 that Acosta-Rubio was fired from his job was the day before he launched Onestop and set in motion a series of obstacles, including a hysterical relative trying to renege on a loan, failure to collect a year of receivables, a lawsuit and a negligent CFO. But Acosta-Rubio says, "It's those lessons that make us who we are today." Competitive edge: From the beginning, Acosta-Rubio has kept up with the big names by using a "customer intimacy model," he says. "Our competitors focus on price and availability, but we discovered a market that craves service." His employees contact clients before they need toner cartridges or other office supplies, and they do it over the phone, which is a rarity in this automated, web-based industry. Acosta-Rubio's former employer, who is one of his major competitors today, "did $27 million last year with 112 salespeople; we did $16 million with 14," he says. "Whose model is better? We need to focus on the human aspect of employees and customers." In retrospect: Like many entrepreneurs, Acosta-Rubio never imagined he'd be where he is today--owner of a multimillion-dollar, 30-employee company. Even so, would he have done anything differently? "Absolutely, 100 percent!" he says. "I would have tried harder, taken bigger risks and made even more mistakes." Follow his lead: Don't let the fear of failure hold you back from making mistakes--and learning from them. Online Exclusive What is your secret to success? Acosta-Rubio: There are two components. One is based on a quote by one of my mentors, author and speaker Jim Rohn: "Formal education will make you a living; self education will make you a fortune." I think it was my voracious appetite for learning what I didn't know that was the biggest part. So get as much education, both formal and self, as you can. The other component is based on a quote by author and entrepreneur W. Clement Stone that says failure takes longer than success. The only way to succeed is through massive failure. We live in a society where we're conditioned to be afraid of making mistakes. But if you're only going to be perfect, you're never going to do well. What advice would you give other entrepreneurs? Acosta-Rubio: Again, two things. The first is, don't delude yourself. Not everyone is meant to be an entrepreneur. If you don't have an overwhelming obsession, a passion for something you believe the world needs or has to hear, it's not you. You're probably an amazing human being, but I would focus my energies elsewhere. You're an entrepreneur if you can't stop talking about what it is you want to do or what has to change. Second, don't do it for the money. I made the mistake of starting to change my direction to focus on the bottom line, and my company started to suffer. My relationships with my employees started going down the toilet, and my company didn't grow as fast. You've got to make it about the obsession of what it is you're here to do, and the money will follow. When did you know you'd "made it"? Acosta-Rubio: I still don't know! I got to a point two years ago where I thought, "I have arrived! I am wonder boy! I'm a multimillionaire!" But then I almost fell into depression. I thought, "Is this all there is?" I don't think you ever make it. I think if you can wake up on a daily basis and be excited that you have opportunities and challenges and problems, you're making it. Learn more about your ad choices.
