"I felt like the Target of photography." That's how Jake described his business—trying to be everything to everyone, taking whatever inquiries came his way, and feeling completely stuck. After 15 years as a wedding photographer, he hit a wall. The industry had changed, his bookings felt random, and deep down, he wondered: Is this all there is? In this episode, Jake opens up about the real struggles behind running a creative business: the doubt, the burnout, and the fear of making a change. But more importantly, he shares the shifts that helped him regain confidence, attract the right clients, and take back control of his work. If you've ever felt lost in your business, constantly second-guessing if you're doing it right, or booking clients that don't actually light you up… this conversation is for you.

Great speakers tell fewer, more strategic stories that are more impactful. If your presentation revolves around one story, don't just tell the story. Instead, create an experience by stepping out of the story from time to time to make teaching points. If your presentation does not revolve around one story, a better approach than telling multiple stories is to share fewer stories and create other experiences that enhance the presentation. Russ Morgan from Wealth Without Wall Street makes a compelling case for financial independence through non-traditional investing strategies. What if you could attain financial freedom not by stashing cash in a 401k but by building a passive income stream that exceeds your monthly expenses? We explore Russ's insights on creating a financial strategy tailored to your unique perspective, moving beyond the conventional wisdom tied to age or risk tolerance. This conversation is packed with lessons from over 500 expert interviews, offering accessible ways to redefine financial freedom.   Imagine transforming your financial life from being income-rich yet cash-poor to truly financially free. We break down a systematic approach to converting active income into passive income, akin to maintaining physical fitness with a regular exercise regime. It's not just about drowning in information; it's about the power of implementation. With guidance from a dedicated coaching team, many of whom have walked this path themselves, listeners can learn how to build assets that generate passive income and dispel common myths, such as the belief that paying off debt is the sole route to financial liberation.   Discover the strengths of mastermind communities and infinite banking as tools for achieving financial goals. Russ shares inspiring stories of individuals who left high-stress jobs to embrace financial independence through strategic investments and community support. With a candid exploration of whole life insurance policies as a financial instrument, we challenge the skepticism around them, presenting personal anecdotes and real-world examples of success. This episode provides a robust case for rethinking conventional financial strategies and embracing innovative paths toward wealth-building.   Previous Episode with Russ: https://youtu.be/3tCse9zwY8c?si=9bm2Bf0ZJXfnPzO_   Timestamps:   (00:01) Path to Financial Freedom Podcast Interview (10:37) Building a Passive Income Operating System (16:49) Mastermind Community for Passive Income (28:42) Understanding Infinite Banking Benefits and Costs (38:25) Maximizing Wealth With Infinite Banking     Connect with Russ and Wealth Without Wall Street:   Website: https://www.wealthwithoutwallstreet.com Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/russ-morgan-72595519/   PIOS E-Book: https://go.wealthwithoutwallstreet.com/pios   Path2Frdm Listener Exclusive Course DEAL: https://wealthwithoutwallstreet.com/path2freedom   Join the FREE Path To Freedom Facebook Group here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1634819733719715/   7 Steps to Owning a Franchise: https://path2frdm-1.hubspotpagebuilder.com/path-to-freedom-about-franchising   If you would like to learn more about this particular franchise opportunity or discuss franchise ownership in general - feel free to use the link to my calendar below to schedule a free, no-obligation introductory meeting.   https://calendly.com/wes-barefoot/introcallwithwes   Connect with Wes:   Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/path2frdm/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/path2frdm Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/wesleybarefoot/   #Wealth #Investing #wealthwithoutwallstreet

But at minimum, get an audio recording. Why? Because nothing will help you improve as a speaker than seeing and hearing yourself speak. PERIOD. Here are two quick thoughts... First, be prepared because watching yourself present can be brutal, especially early on. So give yourself some grace and realize your speaking is a work in progress. And most importantly, don't give up. Everything worth doing is worth doing poorly at first. Second, don't make recording complicated or distracting. Just set up your smartphone on a table or tripod and hit record. Or have someone else take care of the recording for you. Bottom line, if you make things too complicated, you won't do it. And if it's too distracting, you won't be focused on your presentation. I hope these 7 simple tips for becoming a better speaker have been helpful. Mental discipline is the ability to keep your mind focused and clear, despite overwhelming distractions or stressors. But it's also the ability to execute on your goals and priorities consistently daily regardless of your mood, emotions, or distractions around you. Today let's talk about the reasons why mental discipline is so important, ways to increase your mental discipline, and a little of the science behind why it's important and how it works. The Importance of Mental Discipline Mental discipline is a key to success in any field, particularly the world of business. When you are mentally disciplined, you can stay focused and productive, even when faced with stress or difficult decisions. It allows you to maintain a clear head, make rational decisions, and stay motivated to achieve your goals. Mental discipline is also key to avoiding burnout, staying healthy, and maintaining a good work-life balance. Personal Development vs Mental Discipline: What's the difference? Ways to Increase Mental Discipline There are many techniques that you can use to increase your mental discipline, including meditation, mindfulness, and visualization. Meditation involves sitting quietly and focusing on your breath, which can help calm your mind and increase your ability to concentrate. Mindfulness involves being present in the moment, observing your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Visualization is a technique where you visualize yourself achieving your goals, which can help increase your motivation and focus. Ultimately, it's about training your mind to do what's uncomfortable so you can execute despite your mood or circumstances... The Science Behind Mental Discipline There is a growing body of scientific evidence to support the benefits of mental discipline practices. Studies have shown that meditation can improve focus, reduce stress, and increase cognitive function. Mindfulness has been shown to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, increase emotional intelligence, and improve decision-making abilities. Visualization has been used by athletes and performers for years to increase their performance and improve their mental focus. But ultimately, you will see the real benefits of Mental Discipline in your overall satisfaction in day-to-day life...your relationships, your fulfillment level, your passion and YES, your confidence and self-esteem. Creating a Mental Discipline Plan So how to you go about starting to create a plan for increasing your mental discipline? Start by identifying your goals. What are the areas where you struggle to maintain focus or clarity? Next, choose a technique that resonates with you, whether that's meditation, mindfulness, or visualization, or even daily rituals that you STRUGGLE WITH. That's the key. Make sure that you set aside time each day for your Daily Rituals, even if it's just for a few minutes at first. The key is Commitment and Consistency. Absolutely zero variance. And finally, be patient with yourself and Don't Give Up...EVER!! Developing mental discipline takes time and practice, but the benefits are well worth it. 75 Hard is an excellent example of a program with Billions of Hits. Most importantly, Mental discipline is a crucial skill for any CEO, business owner, or entrepreneur looking to achieve success. It is a SKILL not a TALENT. Show Notes: 7 Tips to Become a Better Speaker #6 - Look People in the Eye Why Is This Important? It helps you make personal connections with audience members. In fact, it's probably the simplest thing you can do to enhance the impact of your presentation and persuade audience members to your point of view. Why Is This Challenging? Looking into another person's eyes, especially when you're on stage talking to a group of people, just feels awkward. And if you're nervous, it feels even more awkward. How to Improve Your Eye Contact? Remember that you are speaking to individuals and not just a group. Find audience members who are engaged and are already looking at you. Sustain eye contact with each individual long enough to make a connection, then move on. Three to five seconds is usually a good guideline. Avoid looking at people who you can tell feel awkward with eye contact. That will feel more like a stare-down than eye contact. Be prepared. It's practically impossible to make eye contact when you're in your head trying to remember your presentation. Finally, here are the tips we've covered so far: #1 - Know Your Topic #2 - Capture New Ideas #3 - Get Your Reps In #4 - Focus on Serving #5 - Create an Experience for Your Audience Episode Resources 9 Ways to Get Paid as a Speaker (FREE Resource) 5 Keys to Create a Speech That Pays (FREE Resource) Got questions? Submit them here Thank You for Listening! Show Notes: 7 Tips to Become a Better Speaker #5 - Create an Experience for Your Audience In the previous episodes of this series, I mentioned that if you want to serve your audience well, it's best to create a speech that is both enjoyable and educational. Yet the truth is that the vast majority of speakers today focus almost exclusively on delivering content. They might throw in a joke or two and maybe even share a short illustration, but most of the time, it's content, content, content. Have you ever sat through a 60 or 90-minute presentation that is all content? By the end, you probably feel like you've been sprayed with a firehose. What's worse is that you don't walk away remembering anything specific because anything worth remembering was crowded out by the rest of the content. It's just too much! So how can you avoid overwhelming your audience with straight content? Create an experience! If you want to become a better speaker, you need to realize that less in more when it comes to presenting. So instead of cramming more content into their presentations, they look for ways to make their content sticky (aka so memorable that it sticks with audiences after the presentation). In fact, instead of outlining their speech in the same way they would outline a research paper, they develop their speech like a scriptwriter storyboarding a movie. They ask themselves questions like: What is the one big idea that I want my audience to understand? How can I make that idea relevant? How can I make it come alive? Can I take the audience on a journey where they discover this idea for themselves? How can I create an experience that allows my audience to laugh or feel emotions along the way? Here's the bottom line... Don't just deliver content. Create an experience that is enjoyable, educational, and best of all, sticky. Most decision-makers won't hire you until they know, like, and trust you. Audiences won't listen to you unless you build some level of rapport and trust with them. And nothing will destroy your speaking career quicker than breaking trust with decision-makers and/or audiences. So, if you want to become a better speaker, how do you build great relationships with decision-makers and audiences? Focus on serving! For decision-makers, be an easy speaker to work with. Make them look like a hero for hiring you. Deliver on your promises. And for audiences, create an experience that is both enjoyable and educational. You want them to walk away from your presentation feeling better than when they walked in. Speaker Mastermind Community: Click here to find out more about the Paid to Speak Accelerator Community (aka Mastermind Community) and to put your name on our Waiting List. Show Notes: 7 Tips to Become a Better Speaker #3 - Get Your Reps In (AKA Practice) Practice starts with developing great content. Work hard on putting together a great presentation. Then, once you feel like your content is solid, practice the mechanics of how to deliver a great presentation. You can practice in front of the mirror or make a video recording of yourself...whatever works best for you. But here's something you won't hear from most speaking coaches or trainers... If you want to become a better speaker, do NOT practice to become more polished. Audiences can spot a fake a mile away. Instead, practice to become a better communicator who authentically cares about what you are presenting. You've been working hard to grow, learn, and develop as a Thought Leader in your area of expertise. So when you get the opportunity to speak to an audience, you don't want to come across as a fake, overly-polished presenter. Instead, you want to be a real person who is seen as passionate about the thoughts and ideas you are sharing. Or, to put it another way, you want to speak from the head and the heart. Believe it or not, this takes practice. Lots of practice. So while you never want to wing your presentation, you also don't want to be over-polished either. It takes practice to truly be yourself as a speaker. But...if you don't capture the ideas you discover, Tip #1 is useless. Years ago, someone gave me advice that was so simple, yet it has become one of the most important habits I practice as a speaker. Here's the advice: When You Think It, Ink It. Whenever I find something that fits my topic, I write it down immediately. But I don't just write it down. I make sure to save it in a place where I can find it later. For some people, that place is a journal or notebook. For me, it's Evernote. I have a speaking folder in Evernote where I capture all the ideas about my speaking topic that pop into my brain. (BTW, the main reason I like Evernote is it's much easier to search for what I've recorded than it is in a journal or notebook.) But no matter what system you use, never forget... When You Think It, Ink It. Welcome back to the daily mastermind... Nothing is Impossible to a Willing Heart- John Heywood   Let's talk today about your productivity. I want to share 2 Specific Rules, Laws, Universal Truths about your time you MUST be aware of. I want to share what they are...why they are affecting you...and how you can leverage them to 10x your time...   #1- THE PARETO PRINCIPLE...the 80/20 Rule What is the 80 20 rule in simple terms? The 80-20 rule says that 80% of outcomes (or outputs) come from 20% of all causes (or inputs). It can affect all areas of your business like Productivity, Decision Making and even Results. Understand it and Learn to use it to your advantage....   How to you use it in business? -The 80/20 rule is helpful in determining where you can focus your efforts to maximize your results Example:  Growth Strategies in 7-Step RMP....the 20% that GET RESULTS FOCUS for RESULTS   How can you use it to increase productivity? -You can use the 80/20 rule to prioritize the tasks that you need to get done during the day.  -The idea is that out of your entire task list, completing 20% of those tasks will result in 80% of the impact you can create for that day. So in order to get the most impact done, identify which tasks have the most impact for your team and focus on those for the day. TOP 3 Exercise:  List out all of the things that you need to get done that day. Then identify which of those tasks have the highest impact.   How can you use 80/20 in Decision making? Can help you to make the best decisions during the problem-solving process.   When there are many different causes to one problem, the Pareto principle can help you prioritize solutions. Example of how to use the 80/20 rule for decision making:    More Benefits of using the Pareto 80/20 principle: Clear priorities both for you and your team Increased daily productivity Ability to portion your work into manageable segments More focused strategy and execution WARNING 1-THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO 20% EFFORT TO GET 80% RESULTS 2-DONT LOSE SIGHT OF THE OTHER 80%...EFFECTIVE TIME MANAGEMENT (TIME BOXING) _____________________________________________________________ #2- PARKINSONS LAW   What is Parkinson's Law? Parkinson's Law is the idea that your work will expand to fill the time allotted for its completion.   What are ways you can overcome or adapt to our internal nature to procrastinate?? 1. Plan your work strategically   2. Set self-imposed deadlines   3. Try timeboxing   4. Try the Pomodoro Technique   5. Use task management tools   You can accomplish more in less time with Parkinson's Law   LAST SOLUTION:  Get some task management software or develop systems to really automate your TIME.   I hope these tips have brought you value.  I appreciate you being part of the Mastermind Community.
