Start at joewintersjr.com/start.----Chris Giomblanco spent 20 years in the C-suite, helping scale companies from tens of millions to hundreds of millions in revenue, including building Dell Alienware into a global brand. Today he runs Gio Force Advisory from the Zambian bush, mentoring CEOs, founders, and high-performing executives on how to move from performing at the top to thriving at the top.In this episode, Chris makes the case that nobody reaches elite performance alone. No pro quarterback, no top CEO, nobody. He breaks down his Eight Dimension framework for building a life that's aligned rather than just balanced, why most people chase a number instead of the actions behind it, and how subtraction (removing people, meetings, and habits) is often the real path to having it all.He also shares the turning point that reshaped how he works: a health crisis during a hyper-growth season that landed him in front of a world-class cardiologist who told him to learn to meditate. That moment became the foundation of a hard-won truth he now teaches his clients. You don't step away from success to take care of yourself. You take care of yourself for your success.----Join Daily Path Insider here: https://www.joewintersjr.com/insider

#731 What if the only thing standing between you and your next level of success isn't strategy — but the way your mind handles pressure, uncertainty, and fear? In this episode, host Kirsten Tyrrel sits down with Itamar Marani — former Israeli special operations and undercover agent turned elite performance coach — to unpack how high achievers unlock their next level when pressure is high and clarity is low. Itamar shares his surprising path from special ops to running a marketing agency, to being urged by successful founders to “ditch the agency and coach,” ultimately leading to his coaching-and-consulting business. He breaks down the three “success killers” that quietly cap an entrepreneur's growth and how to shift from emotion-driven decisions to strategy-driven action so you can stop procrastinating, stop playing small, and start performing like the version of you who already has the results! What we discuss with Itamar: + Special ops to entrepreneurship + Mindset under pressure + From agency to coaching + Elite performance principles + Imposter syndrome & discomfort + Three “success killers” + Playing not to lose + Emotion vs strategy + Permission to take action Thank you, Itamar! Most people think performance is about more reps, more data, more tech, or more intensity. Why high performers must become “problem seekers,” not just problem solvers2. How to become the observer of your own training instead of a consumer of metrics3. Why tech overload is weakening self-awareness and decision-making4. How breathwork and spinal health unlock long-term resilience5. Why identity collapse affects elite operators and athletes after transition6. How emotional intelligence amplifies performance and protects mental health7. In a conversation that moves from table-tennis halls in suburban Reading to global sporting icons, Matthew unpacks the moments and mentors that shaped his life, and the ideas that continue to guide his work.He reflects on the remarkable influence of his childhood coach, Peter Charters, and how the culture of curiosity, individuality and care that Charters created became the foundation for Matthew's career in sport, and beyond. Computer science professor and bestselling author Cal Newport explains why cognitive fitness matters as much as physical fitness for elite performance. Drawing from his work with NBA teams and hedge fund managers, Newport breaks down the connection between attention control and exceptional achievement. He challenges the myth that social media grows your audience, revealing that craft—not constant self-promotion—drives lasting success. The conversation explores why our social brain can't process text-based connection, the engineering behind platform addiction, and how working backwards from deeply held values creates lasting behavioral change. Newport introduces the concept of "analog social media," explains why privacy debates distract from the real harm of digital overuse, and shares why protecting your cognitive resources from being bled out "one steam whistle tweet at a time" is essential for producing meaningful work. Ever have that feeling after a win that you're still losing somewhere? Crush your numbers at work, but you're disconnected to your family Train hard and eat clean, but you missed out on the social time with friends. Say yes to one thing, and it feels like you're saying no to something that matters more. That tension? That constant low-key guilt and pressure? It's not a scheduling issue. Welcome to the Purple Patch Podcast! On this episode, IRONMAN Master Coach Matt Dixon, host of the Purple Patch Podcast, discusses the Win Cycle program, designed to help leaders and teams achieve consistent performance. He emphasizes the importance of "nailing the basics" for high performance, drawing from his experience coaching elite triathletes. Dixon highlights key habits, such as the "Sunday Special" for reflection and planning, consistent fueling after training, adequate sleep, and regular strength training. He criticizes performance trends lacking a scientific basis, such as blood type diets and bioresonance devices, and warns against the OMAD diet for its nutrient gaps and energy instability. Dixon advocates for a simple, science-backed approach to build a performance-based layer for sustained high performance. In this riveting episode of my chat with Dr. Adam Fraser, we delve into the intricacies of performance, resilience, and the human condition. Adam is a researcher and fellow corporate speaker (and one of the best) and a bloody good, down-to-earth bloke. Through humour and profound insights, we cover a multitude of topics, including the coping mechanisms for stress, the intersection of physiology and psychology, and the challenges faced by modern-day educators. What You'll Learn: The Power of Reflection and Reset Dr. Fraser introduces the concept of the "third space," a transitional gap that is crucial for shifting mindsets between different aspects of life. This framework—reflect, rest, reset—helps individuals leave behind previous stressors and prepare mentally for what's next. Understanding Mental Challenges Explore the metaphor of "Kevin," a character that encapsulates negative inner dialogue. This concept, derived from ACT therapy principles, helps in recognising and rationalising self-doubts and unhelpful thought patterns. The Importance of Consistency Discover the consistent habits of elite performers, such as those in special forces and top athletes, and how these disciplines can be translated into everyday life for sustained success. Navigating Work and Home Life The conversation touches upon the impact of increased remote work on personal boundaries, emphasising practical strategies to create clear separations between professional and personal spaces. Key Takeaways: Reflection, Rest, Reset: Implementing a structured approach to transitioning between activities can enhance emotional well-being and productivity. Managing Inner Dialogue: Understanding and accepting negative thoughts without allowing them to dictate actions can lead to more constructive behaviours. Consistency Is Key: Continuous small efforts in the right direction are more impactful than sporadic grand gestures. Creating Boundaries in Remote Work: Being intentional about starting and stopping work can help maintain a work-life balance, crucial in current times. Resources: Book on "Kevin": Dr. Fraser is working on a book detailing the "Kevin" concept, which promises to offer practical insights into managing inner dialogue. Secondary Trauma in Educators: New research by Dr. Fraser highlights the growing phenomenon of secondary trauma experienced by educators, offering solutions to mitigate its effects. Dr. Adam Fraser's resources and books are an enriching source of knowledge for anyone looking to enhance their personal and professional life. It can be easy to think of flow in terms of performance but there is much more to it than that – not least that in flow our sense of self disappears and a deeper intelligence arises – some call it the 'intelligent unconscious'. The intelligence that is running 99.9% of the processes in your body right now without your interference – and that is the source of true creativity.
