What does generosity look like in a divided, distracted world? In Part Two, Monte Wood—former CEO of Opus Agency and author of Generosity Wins—dives deeper into how generosity gets lost in the noise of modern life and what it takes to reclaim it. From quiet reflections on Steve Jobs' legacy to a chance encounter with Elon Musk in a hotel hot tub, Monte shares how generosity can take many forms—and why practicing it daily is the ultimate leadership move.He also unpacks the forces working against generosity: media polarization, digital disconnection, and our culture of performative success. But with optimism, awareness, and a bit of handwritten gratitude, Monte believes we can rewire how we relate to ourselves—and each other.Key Highlights of Our Interview:What Generosity Isn't: Learning from the Hard Edges“Steve Jobs wasn't always kind—but his mission was generous. He wanted everyone to access technology. That matters.”The Hidden Generosity of Power Players“Elon Musk sat in a hot tub and talked German cinema with strangers. That moment of presence? Pure generosity.”Why Greed and Media Noise Make Generosity Harder“Our media doesn't report anymore—it polarizes. It's designed to divide us, not connect us. That's why generosity is revolutionary.”Connectivity ≠ Connection“Texting someone in the same room isn't connection. Real generosity requires presence—not just Wi-Fi.”A 600-Day Habit That Changed His Life“For nearly two years, Monte has written down one act of generosity and one moment of appreciation. Every. Single. Day.”How to Start Your Own Generosity Practice“It doesn't have to be dramatic. A smile. A name remembered. A moment of full attention. That's the starting line.”The ROI of Generosity Isn't in Metrics—It's in Meaning“You won't find it in a spreadsheet. But the return? Real connection. Better leadership. More joy.”Be Generous With Yourself, Too“Monte exercises daily. Not for performance—for self-gift. Being generous starts with how you treat your own body and mind.”Hope Isn't Naive—It's a Form of Generosity“Monte calls himself ‘appropriately optimistic.' His optimism is calibrated—not blind. It's a gift he gives carefully to others.”Why He Still Believes in a More Generous World“We can't control the noise—but we can choose how we show up. And small, consistent acts of generosity still move the world.”_____________________Connect with us:Host: Vince Chan | Guests: Monte Wood --Chief Change Officer--Change Ambitiously. What if your whole team could start thinking like their own project managers? Where, every day, the project is evaluated, planned, and executed at the highest level... If you still suffer from executing at the very basic level of delegation, this most likely doesn't happen for you. When your team is used to just executing tasks, that's all they'll ever do! Meaning: You are the hub for all information and the bottleneck when there isn't enough of you to go around. Sitting in a room listening to a variety of presentations, most of them non-engaging with slides that looked like this. HUH? Then a physician stands up and begins to relay a series of statistics accompanied by stories. The suicide attempts among college girls have increased from 1% to 2%...a 100% increase in a 2-year span. Nearly 1 in 3 girls have contemplated suicide. We have a college-aged daughter and two college-aged sons…this woke me up. After the presentation, I waited until the presenter was finished shaking hands and walked over into a quiet corner where he was refreshing coffee and asked, “What happened?” His response, in paraphrase…” it is well documented that there is a two-year reversal in behavior among HS and college students in general…so instead of an 18-year-old dealing with 18-year-old things, you have an 18-year-old who is developmentally 16, trying to deal with 28-year-old things because of the unfiltered availability of information.” Thirty years ago, a small subsection of people in the lowcountry of South Carolina would have known of the intimate details of the Alex Murdaugh trial… now there are people in New York, California, and Indonesia whose lives have been impacted by a very very local story. That is 28-year-old Grown Adult information, being straight-veined into 16-year-old minds in New York City while also trying to deal with acne, prom dates, and asking, “Should I download Snapchat OR TikTok OR Tinder OR all three?” There is a narrative that we have heard around the country as we have spoken to groups in Tampa, CLT, ATL, Houston, Dallas, LA, and Vegas…. “Nobody wants to work anymore.” The business owners are looking at the labor pool, and looking at the modern “flexible work environment” and concluding… “Nobody wants to work anymore.” The key leaders are looking at the teams they are leading, and/or the people they are trying to hire and train and conclude… “Nobody wants to work anymore.” But let us reason together for a moment. Really ask, do people REALLY not want to work? REALLY? Do people REALLY want to wake up in a fog, sit around on the couch, indulge in meaningless things all day, eat dinner, watch Maury Povich and Dr. Phil, go to sleep, and do it all over again day after day after day? No. You know what people want? What YOU want?” MEANING You want to be-the-better you know you have the capacity to be! You want what you do to matter! You want what you do to move the needle! You don't want to stand around the cubicle wasteland and drone on and on about the TPS report. To do meaningful things, things that matter, there are 3 things that I want to reiterate, remind, and regurgitate… First, you need hard coachING and you need TO coach hard A reshaping is needed (chucks pottery example sermon 2/26) It offers mobility, portability… And yet, periodically needs to be reshaped and reformed. Pottery shifted an entire economic culture Allowed for portable societies The beauty of the pottery metaphor is that… Solid, hard coaching re-forms, both as you receive and give thoughtful coaching The alternative of this is to ignore coaching, the sound of which just sounds idiotic. Kyrie Irving/Kevin Durant (audio) Nothing good will be done that is done outside of wisdom and accountability Tech will change, languages will change, empires will come and go Wisdom and accountability have and will always be Instead of seeking principle wisdom, We PURSUE THE BEST books, conferences, podcasts, and new strategies to find non-caloric solutions that will run themselves so we don't have to work. THEY WILL NOT… We keep trying to buy the BEST project management software, CRM, billing system… The BEST software is the software that you will actually use!...it requires action The BEST town is the town you will actually live life in…it requires action The BEST car is the one you will actually drive…it requires action The BEST spouse is the one you will actually enjoy spending time with…it requires action ALL of these require YOUR choice, and YOUR action WHY did we see a regress of maturity and cognitive capability among a younger generation? Not realizing that solving problems IS THE JOB ROLE Because outside forces stepped in (including us in this room) and did not allow them to work the muscle of their own independence! What we touted as flexibility became inactivity and apathy…just waiting. We've done much the same in our business trying to remove people from the challenge of solving problems… We have a tool called the Ideal Weekly Schedule…it is among the SIMPLEST tools a BOP coach brings in their toolbelt. You want the adherence level of an Ideal Weekly Schedule is? 30 minutes of pre-work 2 minutes of review daily UNLIMITED discipline and implementation Parkinson's Law tells us that “work expands to the time allotted” Was challenged to do a duel The night before the duel, he wrote letters to friends… Then wrote his “Mathematical Testament” that changed the entire landscape of modern math…IN ONE NIGHT Annie Dillard - a weekly schedule is “willed, faked and so brought into being” Give yourself a week and you'll take a week…give yourself an hour and you'll take an hour EVARISTE GALOISE A POLITICAL ACTIVIST AND MATHEMATICIAN…and a man of turmoil Less than 20% if we're being very generous You know what an Ideal Weekly Schedule requires? A manufactured stricture of our time creates urgency Instead of the weekly schedule, we look at the sub-contractor, the vendor, the customer, our own team and point our finger at them blaming our haphazard week on outside forces. We assume all MEANINGFUL time means personal time Assuming you believe in creation, one of the very first things we as humans were created to do was to WORK There is MEANING IN WORK. THAT IS FULL TIME -> BEST EFFORT YOU OWN YOUR TIME, and YOU WANT THAT TIME TO BE MEANINGFUL within the helpful expectations your business has helped set for you Not to work ALWAYS Not to work SOMETIMES We were designed to work, and rest, and work, and rest…a rhythm When we surround ourselves with the accountability of coaching (internally and externally), we are pushed to work and rest When we lead a person who needs to BE coached, we surround them with the accountability to work and rest, work and rest REALITY: We are trying to rest, pass it off as work and excuse it as “flexibility” Our current narrative: “I need flexibility to interrupt the drudgery of work to take care of life” Let's reframe the narrative: “Technology has provided the flexibility to check in on life while I'm doing meaningful work, and to be fully present in life while I am resting from work” Coaching will hold you accountable so you can find meaning in both. By which YOU can now coach others to do the same. The Second reminder of meaningful work: happiness is elusive, joy is manufactured Full confession - I'm teaching this as a student…not the expert Hedonic treadmill: “these conveniences by becoming habitual had almost entirely ceased to be enjoyable, and at the same time degenerated into true needs, it became much more cruel to be deprived of them than to possess them was sweet, and men were unhappy to lose them without being happy to possess them.” - Jean-Jacques Rousseau TRUE STORY: We've achieved a lot of chaos-busting tools and coaching, and yet a failure that we have had at BOP since we started in 2015 is building an incentive compensation structure and coaching module that works for everyone A constantly rising tide that could go up…or down leaving the business in a tough spot if it doled out its reserves. We have never seen more than 10-15% of employees offer a sincere and non-expectant thank you for additional compensation received (bonuses, etc.) Why? The joy of possessing them was immediately rooted out by the numbness of expecting them Why have we pushed so hard against year-end, random bonuses? B/c the human psyche can't help but see it as a recurring expectation…joy is lost b/c the convenience was never found… FLIP THE NARRATIVE IN YOUR HEAD: “All joy…make it your in-front-of thought” James 1:2 - James was the son of an Israeli Construction worker who lived in a village town between Haifa on the Mediterranean and the modern Sea of Galilee When they were older, his brother was falsely accused of a crime, and murdered in public James was beheaded because of his teaching and his body buried in Spain What was the message he taught? “All joy…make it your in-front-of (first before any) thought” What is joy - a willful acceptance that a situation has brought you favor Testing leads to endurance Endurance leads to growth Growth leads to fullness Fullness is the opposite of emptiness which is what many of us feel now. Choosing Joy in hard things = Satisfaction and not emptiness WHY JOY? ACTION: A NEW QUESTION TO ADD FOR CHECK IN: “what hard thing happened this week that you can find joy in?” Third, your job is to swim in a pool of problems and solve them This was the wisdom of the great Vanilla Ice - “If you've got a problem, yo, I'll solve it…” Without a PROBLEM, there is no need for a solution, therefore no need for job roles…no need for services and products. Artif. Intel. can now perform both repetitive and non-repetitive tasks But they cannot solve problems with a human touch Your role exists b/c of PROBLEMS, so it is unreasonable for any of us to be convinced that your role will be without continuous challenge Fortitude: courage in pain and adversity…courage when problems persist A new training course at USC: How to Fail: A Resilience Building Workshop Universities across the country are seeing the need for proactive training in the area of a) identifying problems, b) learn from problems c) solve problems, d) endure thru problems We are in a space and time where we need to embrace the power both of the problem, and finding joy in solving the problem Billing glitch…opportunity for gratitude that you get to solve it Sub-contractor no show…opportunity for gratitude that you get to solve it Client won't follow through…opportunity for gratitude that you get to solve it Marketing machine is not delivering leads…opportunity for gratitude that you get to solve it Sales conversions hit or miss…opportunity for gratitude that you get to solve it It is time to boundary ourselves and get BACK to the work of solving problems where we can use Technology to allow for the flexibility to check in on life while I'm doing meaningful work, and to be fully present in life while I am resting from work Over the next two hours we have set the table for you to either wallow in a large, easy pool of pity…or to put your cape on, take a deep breath, and go to work to solve important problems that will change your life…and in turn, you will change my life. One of our 5 core values is WRITE IT DOWN…what is the ONE thing that jumps out at you, you want to work on?
In this episode of The Better Than Rich Show, Andrew and Mike are joined by Justin Janowski who shares his insights on building relationships through sales conversations. Justin emphasizes the importance of curiosity and active listening in sales, rather than just focusing on closing deals. He suggests setting a structure for the call and asking for consent upfront, then having a meaningful conversation where you really listen to the potential client in a way that allows them to feel understood. Justin also provides actionable tips for improving sales skills, such as building rapport, identifying pain points, and offering value from the heart. Proverbs 18:21 ~ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. You may have heard the expression in English: you will eat your words.Meaning: You're going to regret saying what you just said.Truth: What you say . . . the words you use, have power. Women mistakenly think that what's required for losing weight (especially the last 10 pounds!) is discipline and restriction - I STRONGLY DISAGREE. If you want to lose this weight AND be done feeling like you're in a constant battle with your body and with food, what's actually needed is: Radical Self Honesty and Radical Self Trust. More specifically… What will be necessary is the skill of intentional decision making via Radical Self Honesty and Radical Self Trust. {And btw- this is true NO MATTER your chosen food approach} Really hear me on this, because it will change everything for you. If you want to create transformation in BOTH your measurable results (i.e. the pounds you want to lose) AND in your qualitative experience (the way you experience food-related decision-making and HOW you feel in your body)... → You will have to be RADICALLY HONEST with yourself about what you're doing that isn't working. And you'll have to do this (*radical self-honesty) ALL THE WAY until you've created exactly the results you're wanting. What that I teach on the podcast (and that my clients learn in depth, step-by-step inside my Last 10 Program) is not about succumbing to external societal standards- ALL OF IT IS SELF-DEFINED. Meaning… YOU get to decide what your goal is. YOU get to decide the things you want to change. YOU get to decide when you've arrived at your goal. This is NOT about what society ‘thinks' your results should be. (eff all that!)This is NOT about any other human or their opinion about your behavior/choices/goals. This is ALL ABOUT YOU. You've decided on your exact goal. And now in order to create this for yourself, you'll have to be RADICALLY HONEST WITH YOURSELF ABOUT WHAT'S JUST NOT WORKING. In this episode I break down the WHY, the HOW, and the TOP 4 WAYS I see smart women getting this wrong (keeping themselves stuck and frustrated without new results). LISTEN NOW. P.S. - the deadline to join THE LAST 10 Program in September is quickly approaching, have you secured your spot yet? Get Started Here.

Quote of the Week:"All NO means is your Next Opportunity" by Abdul KalamAs a parent this is word we often hear! Even if you are not a parent, is this something you are often hearing from someone close to you? Like really close to you. Meaning YOU!How often do we say no to our self in the pursuit of health and happiness. It's a reasonable word that has purpose and function but is often misinterpreted, and can potentially leave us feeling rejected and like we've failed and cannot another attempt. From my experience, the sooner we can tackle this inner enemy, the better our outlook on life will be. We have, and will continue, to say and experience this word in our life. The question becomes how do we choose to take it on and respond. Next opportunity seems logical, valuable and positive to me! =====MEET JASON BARLOW, RMT=====I specialize in helping busy parents feel healthy, happy and energized. My accomplishments include:Highest Rated and Most Reviewed Massage Therapist in the Foothills (Alberta)Author of the 15-Step Playbook for Pain ReliefCreator of the First Aid for Pain Relief ProgramRegistered Massage TherapistCHEK Exercise CoachCHEK Nutrition & Lifestyle CoachCertified PosturologistBuddhist Meditation Teacher=====FREE, INSTANT ACCESS TO THE 15-STEP PLAYBOOK FOR PAIN RELIEF EBOOK=====Visit www.jasonbarlowrmt.com (digital) or purchase a paperback or Kindle edition on Amazon.First Aid for Pain Relief Rx ProgramsDownload and instantly access a more extensive program for your stress, tension and pain at - www.jasonbarlowrmt.com/shop=====HANG WITH ME ON THE SOCIALS:=====www.playbookforpainrelief.comwww.Instagram.com/jasonbarlowrmtwww.Facebook.com/jasonbarlowrmtwww.Twitter.com/jasonbarlowrmtwww.LinkedIn.com/company/jasonbarlowrmtwww.jasonbarlowrmt.com/blog#family #healthy #relax #healthylifestyle #yyc #massage #stressrelief #okotoks

Label: Columbia 04463Year: 1984Condition: MLast Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale. This great single was Springsteen's first hit from his album Born In The U.S.A. For an artist whose previous career was very light on Top 10 hits (he'd had only one — "Hungry Heart" — in 1980), it was a huge surprise to all his fans (and probably to Springsteen himself) when that album ended up producing 7(!) Top 10 hits. That number tied Michael Jackson's record, just set the preceding year for his album Thriller. But what makes this single extra-special is the B side, which never appeared on a Springsteen LP (except for later compilations). The previously unreleased, non-album "Pink Cadillac" is simply one of his very best rockers, and its inclusion on the single was a sweet gift to all of Springsteen's 7-inch vinyl collectors. As acknowledgment of its worth, the song became a big hit for Natalie Cole a couple of years later. List nerd alert: It's "Dancing" that Dave Marsh thinks so highly of, ranking it at #281 in his Top 1,001 singles list. But me, I would have put "Pink Cadillac" higher on any list than "Dancing." Certainly, it gets a 2-star recommendation from Classic 45s (our highest)! Meaning: You must have this song in your collection... it's not an option! Preferably, you will own this 45 record, within whose grooves resides the original, archival version with jaw-dropping audio! Note: This beautiful 45 record has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio), and the picture sleeve is Near Mint with light storage wear.
ỌMỌLÚÀBÍ PODCAST | EPISODE 004 PROVERB CONSIDERED: "Aṣọ à-fọ̀-fún kò jẹ́ká mọ olówó." INTERPRETATION: Clothes washed clean make identifying the rich person impossible. In other words, there is a way a 'poor' person can wash his/her clothes and take good care of it such that in public, he/she appears to be rich. MEANING: You can manage the little you have so well that people will reckon with you as they would someone who has much more than you currently do. Based on an understanding of your identity an Ọmọlúàbí (a chosen generation, royal priesthood, holy nation, peculiar person - 1 Peter 2:9), you can manifest such excellence in and with the little you currently possess. TEXTS FOR SCRIPTURAL REFLECTION: Proverbs 23:7a; 27:8 Philippians 2:12-13 Proverbs 23:7a The Passion Translation (TPT): "For as he thinks within himself, so is he." Proverbs 27:8 The Passion Translation (TPT): "When even a fool bites his tongue he's considered wise. So shut your mouth when you are provoked—it will make you look smart." Philippians 2:12-13 New International Version (NIV): "Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose."

MEANING - You've heard the raucous noise about God; now listen to the cogent arguments, con and pro. Not that determining the existence of God is up for vote; when searching for Truth, majority opinion counts for nothing. Grace & Grit Podcast: Helping Women Everywhere Live Happier, Healthier and More Fit Lives
Yes, life is a little (or a lot) disorienting right now and we are being challenged in new ways. It is all too easy to focus on everything that is wrong with our current reality and why it shouldn’t be happening. The sooner you stop fighting reality (because let’s be honest you will never win that argument) the easier you will be able to navigate your way through it. No, we cannot control what is happening out in the world (pandemic) but we can control how we live this day despite what is going on in the world. Meaning… You can control how you show up today. You can control how you spend your time. You can control how you feel You can control what you choose to focus on. And in this episode, I teach you one of the most powerful practices I know to help you do just that. In today's episode I'm ramping up the "sit" command in part two of this series. This is also a good step for adult dogs who have a pretty good grasp already. I'll answer some emails that are timely and play into this specific type of obedience training and talk about a very good question that I did not answer in my part one! And I've been making a habit lately of leaving you with an interesting quote about resilience. I won't let you down this time either. In fact, I've included the quote here along with a link to Viktor Frankl's book; "Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." - Viktor E. Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning You can download the Audible book here, and also get a free trial of audible with the same link.
LYRICS Tvameva Mata cha Pita Tvameva, Tvameva Bandhu cha Sakha Tvameva, Tvameva Vidya Dravinam Tvameva, Tvameva Sarvam Mama Deva Deva. MEANING You are my Mother And you are my Father, the Supreme Being You are the Divine Wisdom, the Essence of everything I know, You are the Highest Wealth and the Bestower of all the best things in this life and the next. You are All-in-All; You are Everything to me.
The last episode I did was standing here as well… I had two big thoughts on my mind so I wanted to do another one here. About two or three weeks ago I hosted an event called OfferMind. I sold 650 tickets We sold about $1.9 million on stage … Which is awesome! It was a screaming success and it was a lot of fun. We'll continue to sell that program which is exciting. It was interesting because the ONE skillset you guys can go learn that will massively improve your wallet is MARKETING. The better marketer you are, the less amazing at sales you have to be. When I do my events, I like to teach A LOT. We went from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and we only took a lunch and a dinner break. One of the principles that I like to talk about the most, is this whole concept of sales psychology. One of the things that made the events so unique is: I don't really want to teach people the newest thing on Facebook. What I do care about is, what is true marketing? HINT HINT: We'll probably gonna have an MLM event soon called Hack MLM Live. WHY DID PEOPLE LIKE OFFERMIND? One of the reasons why people like OfferMind events so much is that I have an obsession with marketing history. I actually wanted to be a 10th-grade history teacher for a long time. I love studying American history and world history. I'm 31 now and what it's turned into is an obsession with marketing history. At the event, I said to everybody, “The purpose of this event is for me to remove the Internet. I wanna remove today's modern distribution channels”. Let's take those away…. What's that to do with MLM? Just hold on tight and I'll show you. https://youtu.be/6Xn5vTcQxD0 Let's go back to 200 years ago… To the time when the printing press was starting to come around in 1750. The printing press came around and suddenly we could have duplicatable messages that they were sending out... That's a BIG deal. Before that, you had to one-on-one to tell everybody. I told everybody at the event, “Let's remove everything to do with the Internet, learn what marketers in that time used to go do, study their patterns and then add the Internet.” That is powerful. Otherwise, the Internet can be a distraction. We think that posting on social media is marketing… IT’S NOT… It's posting on social media! The purpose of the event was to teach what marketing actually is in the context of old school times and then add in powerful Internet principles. It was very, very successful. THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND THE REFUND One of the things that people like the most, is studying this whole bio-psychology. I know I've talked about this a little bit in the past, but there's a certain key point to this. QUESTION: Have you had anybody refund on you? You do the whole phone or hotel meeting or you three-way him, or you spend time with that individual, and you can tell they're not all about it. Vice versa. There are other people where you show them the product and they're like, "This is the best thing since sliced bread, I love the product." Imagine you're talking to somebody and they're not loving it. You walk away, and you got the sale but it's kind of shaky. And you're walking away and let's say you got them on auto shipper. You walk away from him, and that dreaded text comes to you (cause they're not confident enough to actually call you) and they say, "Stephen, we were talking about this and I know I'm within my three day refund period and we just really want the money back." And you're like, "Ugh! Oh my gosh." We have ALL had that experience. Don't act like you haven't. If you haven't, you need to sell harder. Refunds are normal. There are very famous marketers that believe if they DON’T have a 10% refund rate, they’re not marketing hard enough Refunds are normal. DOPAMINE Let's say you have that experience… Why does that happen? There's a principle that I wanna walk you guys through on why that happens. There are four hormones in the brain that causes us to feel good. They're naturally produced by the brain. The first chemical is Dopamine. Dopamine is the chemical of DISTRACTION. We love to get distracted. It is statistically proven that you check your phone 72 times a day. WHY? Dopamine. Mark Zuckerberg said on film to Congress, "Yes, we brought in addiction specialists to make Facebook as addicting as possible." I'm not here to argue whether or not that's right or wrong. That's the statement. They engineered addiction into it. Dopamine is the easiest chemical for our brains to produce out of the four hormones. OXYTOCIN The next chemical is Oxytocin. Oxytocin is the chemical of connection. Of the four, it's the one that we want the most. I need a connection. I need to connect with people. Seth Godin teaches that right now, there's never been a time in history where we have de-tribed so much. We are de-tribing as a society. But funny enough, it's the chemical we seek the MOST. We're not relying on each other like we used to, but we desperately need to feel a connection, which is caused by the chemical oxytocin. We will give up our: Religion Relationships Beliefs Morals … In order to get a connection, even if it's fake connection. We need connection as a species. SEROTONIN The next chemical is Serotonin. Serotonin is a chemical of status. I don't mean like, "I'm better than you." That's not what it is. Status meaning validation. Meaning, I'm okay in my eyes, and I'm okay in those people's eyes over there too. It's one of the driving forces we have as entrepreneurs. I love this stuff man, I really go into this. ENDORPHINS The next chemical is Endorphins. Endorphins are the chemical of work reward. Let's say I'm gonna go jog around a track. The first three or four laps are gonna suck… They always do. But what happens once you get past that first mile is you get the runner's high. That's a work reward. That's endorphins. It's not dopamine, it's not oxytocin, it's not serotonin, it's endorphins. Endorphins come as a response to work reward. It comes in as the response of pain… The pain of growth. I might feel some growing pains as I'm sprinting around the track, but I'll start to feel some endorphins feel goods and it makes me keep going. WHY DO PEOPLE REFUND There are different ways to cause these chemicals inside of the buying process. And there's something I've discovered and learned how to do quite well. You consuming this right here… I'm giving you dopamine 'cause I've distracted you from something else today. Status in terms of it's very much US versus THEM, new MLM versus old MLM. I try to be as vulnerable as possible with this show, which actually gives a semblance of oxytocin. Endorphins are gonna be very hard for me to give you while you read this right now because you're not doing much. If I was to have you go do two or three things and check a box, it would start to give the chemical of endorphins and the feel-goods. I wanna tell you guys why the refund happens. Let's say you're pitching somebody and they're buying from you… They're getting dopamine because they're getting distracted. They're getting oxytocin, one of the easiest ways to get oxytocin is through purchases. You get that buyers high. Let's say there's a brand involved. They know it's an amazing brand. There's a sense of status that comes with it, serotonin. There's a little bit of work reward. The work they did is they pulled their credit card out and they're buying, they're feeling endorphins, man they're on a high. You're getting home all four hormones during the purchasing process. LOGICAL REASONS FOR A REFUND So why do they refund? What's happening in the brain? What happens in the brain is the purchase is not over. Buying is emotional. As I start to purchase, the right side of the brain is really where a lot of those emotions happen, and it overrides the left or logical side of my head. So I stop thinking logically. And when I start saying, "Hey, buy now. It's buy one, get one free right now." Guess what happens? What happens in the brain is they start to justify the purchase. “You know what, it makes sense for me to buy this right now because it's buy one, get one free”. They think it's logical… It's actually emotional though. As they walk away and those hormones start to burn off, the left brain starts to pop back in and go, "Oh crap. Oh my gosh. Why did I just buy this?" They start to freak out a little bit, like, "Oh my gosh. I wasn't planning on buying this thing today." And the left brain has to start justifying the action. I know I'm spitting a lot of stuff here, but understand that *THIS* is where the key is. If you wanna drop your refunds, this is how you do it. REASONS WHY PEOPLE REFUND The other reason why somebody refunds is because you have not armed the logical side of the brain during the sale. You heard what I just said? That's a BIG statement right there. You might wanna go back up and read that sentence again. One of the BIGGEST reasons why you get refunds is because you did not arm the left side of the brain during the sale. MEANING: You didn't give logical closes. Let's say that you go into a grocery store and you're like, "All I'm gonna get is eggs." How many times you actually walk out with just eggs? ANSWER: Never. Why? Beause you like to buy. Everyone likes to buy. "You know what, I should get some bread while I'm here", "You know what, I'm gonna go ahead and get the orange juice while I'm here." "Since I'm here... " What are you doing? Logically justifying. What happens when the first loved one walks up to you and says, "I thought you were just getting eggs?" You panic and think, “What do I say? What do I say?” What I say is the CLOSES. (I'm going way more tactical, far less story than I should on this podcast episode, but I'm hoping that you guys catch this.) LOGICAL REASONS AND CLOSES What happens is as the customer walks away and confronts their first loved one, they cite logical closes. A logical close is nothing more than a reason to ACT NOW. What are they gonna cite? It was buy one, get one free It was half off If I did it now, I got in my buddy for half off Do you know what I'm saying? They start citing logical reasons to act now. Not the stories that you told them. Go watch the last podcast and what I’m saying will make more sense. People DON’T cite the stories, they cite the logical reasons to act now to save face in front of loved ones who asked why they bought something. [PAUSE FOR EFFECT] People cite logical reasons to act now to save face in front of their loved ones. WHY PEOPLE REFUND RECAP Let me recap this real fast here and tie it in a nice little bow. I know that was a lot of stuff. Maybe watch this a few times too 'cause I know that's thick. This is a pretty deep topic. But just think about this… WHAT THIS MEANS IS: When you're selling somebody, you wanna give them as many logical reasons that they should be doing this as possible. You wanna be telling them things like: "It makes sense." "You're smart to get this done now because it's half off." "It makes sense what you take action this now. I totally would too because it is buy one, get one free before midnight." "I wish that I had this opportunity like you have now 'cause I didn't have this when I started." QUESTION: What did I just do? ANSWER: I just armed them with something that they can quote to loved ones when they try to save face later on. Once those buying hormones die-off on the right side of the brain, the left side is left to fend for itself and unless you arm it, they start getting buyer's remorse. That was one of the pieces people really liked at OfferMind. MY REFUND RATE I really don't have that many refunds on Secret MLM Hacks. In fact, with ALL the products I sell, I have an extremely low refund rate. And it's because I understand that part of my role when selling them is NOT to sell them ONLY on the decision to buy. I'm actually arming them post-sale on how to save face in front of their loved ones. That's my role, not theirs. The sale is NOT OVER until they can justify the purchase to loved ones. Otherwise, what happens is people step back and they say, "Well crap. I think I got swindled." because they can't cite any of the logical reasons to act now. Because of that, they start getting buyers remorse. They freak out! The whole point of this episode is that ONE sentence right there: The purchase is not over until you have armed them to save face and status in front of the loved ones once they challenge the purchase. THAT’S IT. And the way you do that is by arming them with lots of logical reasons to act now. When people are like, "I don't know that I like closing." You're killing your refund rate. NEWSFLASH: You're not closing hard, you're helping them save face. You're giving quotables that they're gonna go say to their loved ones. NO ONE ASKS FOR A REFUND ON OFFERMIND One of the reasons I did $1.9 million in sales at OfferMind is because I stacked closes. I've NEVER had a table rush. That was the FIRST table rush I've ever had my entire life. I hadn't even sent the freaking price and people were standing up and slamming the credit card down. BUT I DIDN’T STOP. I kept speaking. There were 650 people and half the room was on their feet! Do you know how loud the room was? I kept going like NO ONE was standing. I talked for another 15 minutes with everybody up, just doing my closers. Dave Woodward, one of the executives of ClickFunnels, is a funnel freak. He paid for this program before he even knew what was in it. He was the first one in the program and he was super excited about it. He’s a funnel freak… Are you? He's in the program and I want you to be as well. You need to tell people WHAT to cite after they go back home and the emotions have died. Logically, they need to know that they should be in the program. They're NOT the salesman, and now they have to sell their loved ones on the decision they made. If you haven't armed them with those logical reasons, they’re gonna feel like you took them. You didn't… But it just feels that way to them. MASSIVE RANT OVER. THE PSYCHOLOGY OF THE SALE Hopefully you enjoyed this episode of Secret MLM Hacks Radio. I love doing this show. If you could please leave me a review, that'd be AWESOME! This stuff works. I love MLM, I love what I do, I love sales, I love marketing, I love funnels. The opportunity we have right now is RIDICULOUS. There's never been a time where distribution has been so easy. Where products are made so quickly. Where society discipline is dropping so much… Which means if you just do ANYTHING. I know it's tough to find people to pitch after your warm market dries up, right? That moment when you finally run out of family and friends to pitch. I don't see many up lines teaching legitimate lead strategies today. After years of being a lead funnel builder online I got sick of the garbage strategies most MLMs have been teaching their recruits for decades. Whether you simply want more leads to pitch or an automated MLM funnel, head over to secretmlmhacks.com and join the next FREE training. There you're gonna learn the hidden revenue model that only the top MLMers have been using to get paid regardless if you join them. Learn the 3-step system I use to auto recruit my downline of big producers WITHOUT friends or family even knowing that I'm in MLM. So many of the creatives and entrepreneurs that I talk to absolutely LOVE the idea of accountability so they can see more of the results they want in their life and business. But what if we started viewing accountability as an inside job? Meaning YOU were the one responsible for following through on the actions that would create more of what you want. Today we talk about what it means to “show up for yourself” the same way you would if there was someone holding you accountable. This mindset shift is an absolute game-changer in helping you to get out of your own way so you can stretch outside your comfort zone, show up for all of it (the good, the bad, and the ugly), and see more money in the bank because of it.-Check out the show notes here!-I find that most entrepreneurs generally KNOW the things that they should be doing to grow their business, but almost all of them have trouble getting out of their own way long enough to actually take ACTION and see the kind of results they want. And there is almost always a mindset challenge standing in their way from doing just that. If you’re ready to uncover how you’re holding yourself back and find the one mindset shift that will make the biggest difference in your life and business head over to amandadennelly.com/freecall to book my free Simplifying Success coaching call. If we don't do effective marketing, change doesn’t happen. Over the last several episodes we’ve taken a significant diversion into how change actually feels to people. What we believe; who else believes it; what we want and where we’re headed. Today I’ve brought you to a fork in the road. You’ve got to decide: “Are you in the business of changing how your prospects get what they want?” Meaning: “You find a hole and fill it” or “Are you going to go deeper and change what they want altogether?”
FAR 177 Expected Air Date: 8/13/18 Opening I have a great photo in my humor collection of a pig who looks like he’s smiling at the camera. The caption says, “I turn vegetables into bacon. What’s your super power?” I have an unsurprisingly large number of bacon jokes in this collection but this is one of my favorites. Humor aside, I want to ask you this question today. If you could have any super power, what would it be? What if I told you that you already have a power inside of you that is remarkable, perhaps even super? You have a few actually, but today I want to zero in on the power that is already inside of you to make your life count -- to live a life that has depth and meaning is within your grasp. Topic: The Power of Meaning You have the power to attach meaning to your life. From the grandest plans, the wildest unexpected experiences, the unpredictable and often hurtful behavior of others, right down to the smallest details of your everyday existence, you decide not only how meaningful these are to you, but what that meaning is. This is an awesome power which can be both tremendously positive and dangerous at the same time. Dangers Giving too much importance to the unimportant. Making everything important. Making nothing important. Focusing on the wrong problems. Attaching disconnected “meaning” to life events. Positives Ability to sort out and prioritize. Think carefully about the “presenting issue” and look for the real problem. Attach meaning that flows from your sense of purpose and larger belief system. Realize that impulse reactions may be “normal” in a sense, but not usually the most helpful responses. So what are the steps to living a meaningful life? First, think long and hard about what “meaningful” means? Ask yourself a lot of questions. What is important to you? Why? And why is that your answer? For example, Meaningful are those things that are Lasting Personal Sources of joy, peace, contentment, entertainment, humor, fulfillment It seems that the longer something lasts, the more intrinsic meaning it has. The human soul -- Your house -- Your car -- Your toothbrush. While we want to believe that every life has value, we obviously attach more value to those around us. The closer a person is, the more meaningful that relationship is. A distant person we’ve never met or heard of is brutally murdered in another city. While we may feel a moment of sadness or compassion for that person and his/her family, we are not as impacted as we are when a close friend is robbed at gunpoint. And THAT doesn’t shake us as much as hearing a doctor say we have a terminal illness. The point is, the more personal something is, the more meaning we naturally attach to it. We all carry excess baggage around in the form of attaching meaning to people or life events that we could probably let go and just be better off. Is it really that easy to just drop it? No, but that’s not what I’m suggesting either. I’m suggesting that instead of holding on to the bag of “stuff”, open it up, sort through it, think the thoughts that need to be thought, feel the feelings that need to be felt, decide what needs to be decided, take responsibility for whatever you can actually do now about the situation, ask yourself what is to be learned here, how did this event or person prepare you, enrich you, inform you. I encourage you to unpack that bag carefully, thoughtfully and purposefully. And once you have done that, pack it back up and put it into long term storage, saving out only those things that you intentionally choose. Now that’s for the things and people that have already happened. Today is a new day. How will we approach this with meaning and purpose? I want you to have a good day. And a truly good day is one that begins well. For most of us, what happens in the first couple of hours of our day tends to set the tone for how that day is going to go. Now if you listened to what I’ve just said, this doesn’t HAVE to be the case, but it usually is. So as much as possible, let’s start each day off well. Notice I’m avoiding saying “great”. Every day can’t be great. Because if they were, none of them would be truly great, since great is comparison word and in order to be great, something else has to be less than. So your goal is to have a GOOD day. And some of them will turn out to be great! You’ll have no trouble finding 1000 books and articles telling you to start out your day with exercise, a healthy breakfast, quiet time, journaling, and so on. Nothing wrong with any of those, but some of us have a schedule that defies regularity and many more of us just don’t really keep up with those things consistently. And by defining a good day as starting off with those habits, when we miss, our day can be ruined by self-inflicted guilt. Here’s a different idea: Start your day with thinking. No matter what your routine is, or how it is interrupted, you can do some thinking, right? While in the shower, during that commute, even while getting dressed, there are things we HAVE to do in order to start our day that do not require our complete attention, so have some thinking time at the beginning of each day. And what should you think about? Here are some suggestions: The Thankful list. My Purpose - This is a different show, but review your “why am I here” statements. The things that give my life meaning. How will I have a chance to accomplish these today? Honoring God Helping others Providing for my family Get 5 things done today. What are they? Anticipate Interruptions. See any possibilities? Small Reward for a Good Day. Favorite TV show Patio Time A favorite beverage Then try to do something physical each day, even if it’s just going for a walk. Physical activity does more than benefit your body - it also frees your brain. Exercise can be a potent treatment for depression and anxiety. You don’t have to be a gym rat -- but you can probably walk a mile in 20 minutes, so walk somewhere for 10 minutes and then turn around and walk home. That’s much better than doing nothing. You have the Power of Meaning. You are already using this power, but if you realize just how powerful you are, you can start now to shape the life you want. Emails: Sherry, Colorado Springs, “Do you buy burnouts? What do you think about this? I’m looking at a house that had a kitchen fire. Most of the house is fine, but the kitchen is destroyed.” Shawn, Long Beach, “I bought a house using information from an online deal analyzer but now I can’t find anyone who will do the work for what the analyzer said it should cost. The repairs are going to take out all the profit or most of it. What would you do?” Sammy, Tampa, “How does anyone have more than 9 rental properties? My bank just told me I can’t get any more loans.” Craig, Harrisburg, PA, “I need advice for someone who is young, very motivated and willing to work, but has no experience, no money, and no credit. I don’t have bad credit - I don’t have any credit. I just turned 20 and really want to get into real estate. I’m in community college part time, but don’t have enough money to pay for full time college at the university, and I don’t want to do student loans.” Kerry and Brittany, Jacksonville, FL “We are first time home-buyer and have a house under contract. The home inspector has listed several items that need to be addressed and it has us running scared. But it was so difficult to find a house and win a bid, we hate to give it up. Please advise us. Here’s the list: HVAC is 10 years old. Recommend replacing. Roof was improperly flashed at dormers. Recommend removing current roofing material in affected area, properly flashing and sealing, and replacing roofing material. (roof is asphalt shingle) GFCI outlets are not present in bathroom or above countertop in kitchen. Recommend replacing outlets with properly install GFCI outlets Motivational Thoughts for the day “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.” C.S. Lewis

Contractor Success Map with Randal DeHart | Contractor Bookkeeping And Accounting Services
This Podcast Is Episode Number 0228, And It Will Be About Unique Ways Highly Profitable Contractors Reduce Taxes Contractors Reflect On This Year's Results As The Last Quarter Begins Going into the last Quarter of the year. Time for some basic reflection about taxes. Officers in S-Corps tend to take payroll later in the year. Now is the time if you have not already been taking payroll. Don't wait until it is time to prepare your Construction Company tax return. Next review your Estimated personal Taxes paid to the IRS. How much did you pay in taxes for the current year? Internal Revenue expects that you have paid a percentage Federal Taxes before the end of the year. Reviewing Federal Withholding for yourself and your employees to avoid surprises when your annual taxes are filed. Contractors who file as a Sole Prop or as an LLC fining as a Sole Prop tend to forget that payroll taxes on their net income is due. I call this “Chef’s Surprise” as it is based on Net Income. Everyone wants the last few jobs to pay before the end of the year. As the Sole Prop or 1099 Contractor, the amount due will be both the employer and employee portions (combined is 15.3% + federal income taxes) Refer to your Tax Accountant about the ability to claim the employer portion as a deduction on your taxes. Time for some basic reflection about your bookkeeping methods How are you keeping track of your income and expenses? Do you use software or on a paper system? Many Contractors use Shoeboxes, Cardboard Boxes and paper bags The issue comes when your Banker, Liability Insurance Company, Worker’s Comp Insurance Company, Bonding Company or State Agency or Internal Revenue want reports. I have seen some manual systems that are quite good. I remember the days pre-computer days where I used an oversized 13 Column Pad. It worked, not a great as the multiple ledgers and from there that first version of Quicken was wonderful. Now using QuickBooks which can be customized is fantastic. Being in Washington State where sales tax is destination based – customization is the key to easy reporting. Other states have different reporting requirements. Additional reflection is needed when multiple partners are involved Is it an active partner or someone who is behind the scenes (investment versus day-to-day activities)? Is each partner doing what you expect them to do? There are additional challenges when multiple partners are not actively engaged. The net profit is divided based on the percentage of ownership. Many times, partners have different visions for the company. Growth Of The Company (How Big, How Fast) How Much Money To Take Out of Company Reinvestment Of Profits Into The Company Should They Add A Vehicle (new or used) What Tools And Equipment To Purchase Compensation For Employees Compensation For Owners Decisions Happen Every Minute For Working Construction Contractors The most frustrating situation happens when one partner is actively working in the day-to-day activities, and the other partner is a “Manager” and is practicing “Seagull Management” but is never there for the day-to-day activities. It is easy to say I’m working on the business. Reality is that it may not have the same meaning to all partners. Working on the business is Planning, Marketing, Doing Active Things in the business. I have heard many stories where One Partner tells the other partner (while managing from afar) You need to be doing [fill in the blank] The sales are not that high you have plenty of time The paperwork is not that much; it will only take you 10 -15 minutes [a week, a month] to do it Or saying “After The Fact: that decisions you made were not the ones I would have made. It is easy for the person Not Doing The Work - to say, we (Meaning YOU) what should or should not have done [fill in the blank]. This happens a lot when partners are not in the same city. Or to say I can’t because you are better at [fill in the blank]. The last thing you need is for someone else to assign you a task to do. As a Construction Contractor, there is no shortage of “tasks to do” in running your Contracting Business. These sort of challenges is one of the reasons we recommend being an S-Corp. It is easier to have a business relationship with someone that is something other than a 50-50%. It is by EXCEPTION that multiple partners will be equally invested in the company. (Time, Money and Effort). Usually, the Construction Company is weighted with one partner doing more, spending additional hours in the Construction Side of the Work to bring in the money or save on employee hours. Many times, that same partner is asking their spouse to pitch in and do the bookkeeping without pay because it will benefit them in the long run. Then it becomes two people actively working in the business for the financial benefit of one. If spouses are paid on payroll – they are valued. (It can be the gesture more than the money) As an S-Corp owner’s payroll will better reflect activity in the business. Life Happens! If one of the owners is working fewer hours due to personal reasons; there is compensation that can be more easily given to the other working owners above and beyond the net profit of the company. Easier to facilitate a Loan To Shareholder as needed. When you discuss in the beginning, it Saves “White Noise” and “Hard Feelings.” later. Years ago; I read a book that described how one partner was very upfront in saying. Why should I work so hard when I know you will? I can just sit back and get my share of the profits without doing much of anything! (not an exact quote) It was just a story, but a few times when meeting with Construction Partners that attitude has come through. Not all partnerships have problems. I know of several who have been friends and partners for decades. Partners discussed their roles and how to work together. It is awesome! I am always glad to talk to them and catch up.
