What You'll Learn In this episode, Steve shares common misconceptions and emphasizes the distinction between marketing and sales functions within a funnel. He argues that while sales funnels are powerful tools for conversion, they primarily serve a sales function rather than marketing. He also shares his idea of success. Success is deeply personal and encompasses both internal contentment and external accomplishments. Things We Discussed Importance of Sales Story and Offer: Larsen underscores the significance of having a compelling sales story and offers that prompt further engagement. He argues that success hinges on these elements rather than intricate funnel mechanics. I love the Linchpin model. In fact, I have changed everything in my business to it. And yours truly even got to write the foreword on Russell Brunson's upcoming book about the said business model. But I haven't seen anyone turn their event funnel into this Linchpin model yet. So while I was on an airplane to Miami, with some caffeine and dubstep, I had another epiphany that blew my mind. I created a fantastic new event funnel type using the Linchpin model! And I can't wait to share it with you. A few years ago Russell Brunson was mentoring a group of entrepreneurs and he promised them that if they published something every day for a year on their blog, YouTube channel or podcast, they would become financially free. Some of those entrepreneurs took Russell up on that challenge, began publishing every day, and became incredibly successful. One of those amazingly successful entrepreneurs was Stephen J. Larsen. Stephen tells his story of attending Russell Brunson's Funnel Hacking Live event in San Diego. Stephen couldn't afford a taxi. So, when his flight arrived he rented a bicycle, held his luggage over his shoulder, and peddled to Funnel Hacking Live through downtown San Diego. Stephen didn't have enough money for a hotel room, so he slept on a couch in the hotel. I have heard Stephen tell the story of when Russell challenged him to publish every day, the challenge that changed everything for him. Before the event, Stephen had told his wife that was the one thing Russell might ask him to do that he wasn't going to do. However, there at the event, Stephen chose to trust Russell and accept the challenge and begin to publish every day. As a result, Stephen has become one of the leading experts in the world on digital offer creation. In 2018 Stephen left his job to start his business from scratch, with no revenue or product. He reached $1 million in revenue in only 13 months. I attended Stephen's packed Offer Mind event before COVID-19 hit. I have paid Stephen to teach me how to create effective digital offers and I've witnessed firsthand some of the success Stephen has had because he accepted this daily publishing challenge. 365-Everyday Music Tour I recently listened to a podcast from Russell Brunson talking about a newlywed couple named Jim and Sam who had been unsuccessfully trying to break into the music industry for almost 10 years. This couple decided on a whim that they were going to do a concert every day for a year, and to create a documentary of their journey. At the beginning, the couple was performing for anyone who would listen, such as a group of tree trimmers. By the end, the couple was performing to tens of thousands of people. The documentary is called After So Many Days, and it was named the winner of the Best Music Documentary Feature at the Nashville Film Festival 2020. It has been an official selection at more than 30 film festivals. In the trailer, Jim says: “So here we go, making something happen every single day.” This is profound. There is a power in doing something small every single day, and the cumulative effect of that consistency creates amazing transformation. The exciting conclusion of the presentation I gave at Stephen Larsen’s OfferMind event. On this episode you will hear the exciting conclusion to Russell’s presentation from OfferMind about level 10 Opportunities. Here are some of the things to listen for in today’s episode: Find out how level 10 opportunities came onto Russell’s radar. Hear how Russell met Todd and see what they thought their level opportunity was going to be originally. And see how they managed to build Clickfunnels, after Russell had been trying to develop something similar for 10 years prior. So listen here to find out how you can be on the lookout for your own level 10 opportunity. ---Transcript--- Hey everybody, this is Russell Brunson. Welcome back to the Marketing Secrets podcast. I hope you guys enjoyed last episode on finding your level 10 opportunity. So this is going to be the exciting conclusion of that presentation that I gave at Stephen Larsen’s OfferMind. And it’s not the whole presentation, it’s the intro. I talked about 30 minutes about finding your level 10 opportunity. And I think it’s a mindset thing because so many people need to get, you know, they hear me talk a lot of times about One Funnel Away, you’re one funnel away. And they’re waiting for this funnel that’s going to change everything. No, no, no, no, you have to multiple funnels. Your first funnel, your second, your third, you keep doing these funnels until you find your thing. And that’s what I wanted to share with you guys. So that’s kind of the context, and with that said I hope you guys enjoy the conclusion of this presentation about how to find your level 10 opportunity. I want to fast forward to 8 or 9 years ago, 7 or 8, I don’t know. I’m so bad at years. Some people are like, “In 1996” I can never remember. I was in Kenya, that’s all I remember. So I was in Kenya, and it was my wife and I had a whole bunch of marketing nerds, and most of them had wives too, and this was back before there were too many female entrepreneurs, I don’t think we had any female entrepreneurs on that trip. And the last time we went to Kenya we had like half of them that were female entrepreneurs, which is a huge testament to the females. I love it. It makes me happy every single time I see that. But back then we were all hanging out and I remember because we did this long ride inside of this little jeep, and it was my wife and I and then 2 or 3 other couples, and all the dudes were talking business and all the wives were annoyed. So we got to this stop where we had lunch and then all the wives were like, “Do you guys mind if we go in this jeep over here, and you guys go in this jeep because we don’t want to hear you talk anymore.” We’re like, “But it’s like a 4 hour drive.” They’re like, “Exactly. We do not want to go for 4 more hours with you guys.” We’re like, “Oh, I guess.” So we jump in another jeep, and I’m sitting next to this guy named Bill Harrison, anyone here know Bill? A couple of you guys. Okay. Bill is probably one of the smartest marketing dudes I’ve ever met. So for context, he’s married now, but when I first met him, he was probably, I don’t know, 50, never been married. I might have got that wrong. But he was obsessed with marketing, and his house, I saw pictures of it. You go in his house, imagine a bachelor pad, but he’s rich, so it’s a big bachelor pad, and every room from floor to ceiling is marketing and sales books. He didn’t have bookshelves anymore because he can’t handle it. Every single room is just piled with books. In fact, he used to send me boxes of books as gifts. He’s like, ‘Hey Brunson, I just sent you a bunch of books.” And I’d show up and there’s like a microwave box with like 500 books in it. And I’m like, “Are these good?” He’s like, ‘Oh, they’re all good. I’m not going to send you crappy books.” I’m like, “This is amazing.” So Bill is one of the smartest dudes I’ve ever met when it comes to marketing and sales, like obsessed. You guys think I’m obsessed, he’s that to the next level. He’s awesome. Anyway, so we’re sitting in this jeep geeking out about all sorts of stuff, having a bunch of fun. And we’re like 2 ½ hours into this bumpy jeep ride talking and he tells me this story that just, man, it rocked everything, my whole world. And I’m probably I don’t know, like 6 pages into funnel building at the time. I’ve done a million different things, launched a bunch of stuff, had some successes, had a lot of losses, but as a whole we were doing really well. And we’re sitting there in this jeep and we’re talking and he says, “Man, it’s so interesting.” He’s like, “I feel like I’m one of the best marketers in the world. Russell, I feel like you are too. We’re some of the best, most passionate people who geek out about this the most, but do you know what the biggest problem is?” I’m like, ‘What?” because I would love to know. I’m doing well, but I would love to do more. And he’s like, “We have the wrong opportunity.” I’m like, “What do you mean?” He’s like, and he goes on, “I have this friend, who he is not a good marketing dude at all. He’s maybe like a level 2 skill set of being a marketer. But he got into this opportunity with this big company and he was able to apply his level 2 skill set into a level 10 opportunity. They just took their company public for over a billion dollars, he cashed out and made insane amounts of money, because he had a level 10 opportunity.” And he’s like, “If I look at this, as I see in this jeep, I feel like I’ve got a level 10 skill set, and my company, while it does really, really good, I feel like it’s like a level 3 or maybe a level 4 opportunity, with a level 10 skill set. So because of that I’m only able to get to a certain level. The same thing is true for you dude. You’re at a level 10 skill set, but you’re looking at level 2 maybe level 3 opportunity, that’s why you’re stuck at this thing.’ I was like, oh my gosh. I’d never thought about that. And I was a little frustrated and I was like, well crap, what’s my level 10 opportunity. I don’t even know what that is, or what it could be. I felt like all the stuff I was doing was good. And if you look at the, you know, I look at all the people through my lens and I’m doing better than all the people around me, like my friends, my family, stuff like that, I’m making more money. But man, what is actually possible? And I didn’t know. I remember coming home from that trip and just thinking, well, what’s my level 10 opportunity. I didn’t know, but I didn’t stop everything like “Well, I’m just going to wait until it comes here.” I was just like, okay, now I know that I’m looking for a level 10 opportunity. And I want to make sure that as I, when I find it that I’m ready and prepared for it. If they would have handed me Clickfunnels 8 years ago and like, ‘Here, run this thing.” guess what would have happened? I would have crashed it to the ground and burnt it and it would have been a really bad, painful, public humiliation in front of everybody. I wasn’t ready for it. But now I knew that I have my eye set, I’m going for a level 10 opportunity, but until that happens I’m going to move forward. I’m going to do the next one and the next one. I’m going to try this one and this one and this one and this one. And hopefully in that journey I’m going to have faith as I’m running as fast as I can, I’m looking for opportunities, I’m trying to find stuff and figure things out. And the right people are going to come into my life. I’m going to be introduced to people, I’m going to find opportunities, and maybe this one’s not the big success, but I’m going to open the door for the next one and the next one, and maybe I meet someone through the deal. I don’t know what that’s going to be, but I’m going to run with faith as fast as I can and just do funnel after funnel, after funnel. But I’m going to have my eyes open, looking for what is that level 10 opportunity. So that’s how it started. So from that point forward I started looking. And as I started looking, these weird opportunities started coming into my path. And some of them weren’t really pleasant. One of them I built a huge company up and the whole thing burnt and crashed to the ground. And that was really painful. Firing 80 people overnight is not fun. And I’m not going to get deep into the pain of that story, but it was bad. And I thought like, man, this whole thing I don’t even have a level 0 opportunity now. I got nothing. But I kept moving forward, and as I was moving forward I was trying thing after thing, after thing, and I remember in this process of trying a bunch of stuff, I remember buying this website because I was like, “This has got to be a level 10 opportunity.” So I bought this site, it was called championsound.com. Anyone here ever heard of Champion Sound? No, because it never, one person. Because it’s one of the ones on the list. It didn’t do anything though. I bought it off flippa.com, I tried to launch it, it didn’t work, we had some people sign up and started buying it. The software crashed, it was like an email and text message auto-responder for bands. I was like, “Gall, I thought this was going to be a level 10 opportunity.” Maybe like, I’m doing this thing. And in the pain of this thing not working I was trying to find a developer to help me fix this software. I went to, what was it back then Upwork, or Odesk, I can’t remember what. I was trying to find someone to hire to fix the site, and I was trying thing after thing and I couldn’t find anybody to fix it. And finally I was just frustrated like, “Alright, this isn’t going to work.” So I sent an email to the host and said basically, “Shut down the site, it’s not going to work. I don’t want to support the people, it doesn’t work, I can’t fix it.” And then I was walking out the door to leave, and as I was walking out the door I had this thought. And the thought I heard for a second it said, “There’s probably someone on your list who could fix this for you.” I’m like, my list? My list isn’t that big. There’s not people who are developers. It’s just like, but I’m like, alright. I try to listen when I hear voices like that. I’m like, alright. So I walked back into the office, I turned my computer back on, I send an email out and it just says, “If you know Ruby on Rails, I’m looking for a partner.” And I just kind of told them the story, “I got a site, it’s not working, it’s broken. I’m going to throw it away, but if you know Ruby on Rails, and want to be partner, email me back.” I sent it out there and an hour later I get an email from this dude in Atlanta who looks like he’s younger than me, which is kind of funny, except he’s got a beard. And I click on it and read this thing, he’s like, “I’m a Ruby on Rails developer, and I’d love to look at it.” So I send the login, he logs in, I go to bed and wake up in the morning and it’s like, “all the issues are fixed. Here you go.” And that was Todd Dickerson, who came into my world. And what’s crazy, Todd, it’s fascinating because Todd came into my world at the bottom of everything, broke, broke. Out of money, nothing left. And he came in and he came in a weird spot and he’s like, “I want to come work with you.” And I’m like, ‘I can’t pay you.” And he’s like, “That’s cool. I’ll just work for free.” And he worked for free for over a year. Coming in because he was just like, same thing, looking for an opportunity, looking for an opportunity. So we’re like a year into this relationship, friendship, working on different projects. And we went to a Traffic and Conversion event together and I could tell, I remember how broke we were because we shared a room. This is probably 7 years ago now, so we’re sharing a room and that night we’re walking around hanging out and I see Bill Harrison and we bump into each other again, and we start talking. And somehow in this conversation the whole level 10 opportunity thing came up again, which was kind of random because it was just like a freak thing. We talked for like 15 minutes and we left, and it reminded me of this thing in Kenya that happened a couple of years earlier. I was like, oh my gosh, I forgot about that. So that night I told Todd, I was like, “Look, this is the deal.” I told him the idea that I just told you guys about a level 10 opportunity. And Todd’s like, ‘Dude, what’s our level 10 opportunity?” I’m like, “I don’t know. Do you know?” He’s like, “No.” I’m like, “Crap, we gotta figure this thing out.” And then we’re like, “Oh my gosh, I know exactly what it is. It’s this thing and it’s going to be called, WPUndies.” And we got the word press logo and we got someone to design it with underwear, tighty-whitey’s on it and we were freaking out excited. And Todd started coding this thing, and it’s one of the things on this list down here, I’m not sure which page it is. But we’re like, ‘Dude, this is the big idea. It’s going to be this thing that you put on your word press site like underwear that helps protect it. And a third of all the websites in the world are on word press. It’s going to be insanely big.” So we’re so freaking out on our level 10 opportunity we start working, we start building this thing, and we’re doing it. And as we’re building it we find out that word press sucks because you plug in a thing, and then you have like 8000 different hosts, and somebody shifts the hosting over here and over here. And after we got the thing out there, we’re trying to support like 5 customers, we’re like, “Oh my gosh, this is the worst business we ever were in. This is not a level 10 opportunity.” We start freaking out and we’re not sure what to do and Todd’s flying back to Boise to plan, “Okay, what’s the next thing we’re going to do?” And on the flight over, Todd lives in Atlanta, he’s in the airport at like, I don’t know, I was still asleep here in Boise. It was the same day, some of you guys have heard this story before, it was the same day that leadpages got $5 million dollars in funding. So Todd’s jumping on a plane, reads this article and then he forwards it to me. And he jumps in the air, he’s in the air for 4 hours flying to Boise. And he’s flying, he’s just livid because Todd is the most genius developer in the world, and he knows that leadpages sucks. And he’s like, ‘I could build this today.” So I wake up in the morning and I read the article, I’m like, ‘Leadpages? That software sucks, we could build this today.” He shows up into the office, he walks in little Todd is all angry. I’m like, ‘What?” He’s like, “Leadpages got $5 million. What are they doing that we’re not doing?” I’m like, ‘I don’t know.” He’s like, “I could build Leadpages today. Do you want to build it.” I’m like, “Yes, we’re gonna build leadpages, we’re going to take them out.” We’re all excited. “This is our level 10 opportunity. We’ll get $5 million in funding too, it’s going to be awesome.” So we’re so excited, and then Todd asks this question, “Well, if we’re gonna set it up from the ground up, do you want to make it better than leadpages?” I’m like, “Heck yeah.” And he’s like, “What do you want?” and I’m like, “Oh my gosh, are you serious? Let me show you.” And I started showing him like all of these, “I want to be able to do this by myself without you guys because you guys are way too… I want to be able to do this. I can’t do Photoshop and Front page and all these people to do this.” And that started this journey onto Clickfunnels. Let me show you guys real quick, if you pull my slides up, level 10 opportunity, and this is kind of a side story, before somewhere in this journey, actually before I met Todd, it wasn’t like Clickfunnels was a unique idea. I wasn’t the first person to think like, “We should build software that makes it easy to build funnels.” I wasn’t the first person. In fact, this was in 2005, this was the first time I tried to build it and we called it Clickdotcom.com that would have been confusing huh. I would tell people that, “So Click.com?” “No, clickdotcom.com” they’re like, “Wait? What?” I’m like, “No, it’s…” Anyway, so this was the first time I was like, ‘If we build this, it’ll be huge.” So that was here in Boise, I ended up hiring 6 developers. I was selling all this crap and I was trying to take all the money to build this. I thought this was going to be huge. 2005, so this was like almost 10 years earlier we had tried this. And this was all different pages, if you look at it it’s kind of funny because I think we called it, it was before sales funnels, I think we called them sales processes and sales flows before we ever called them funnels. But we had built the whole software, we designed it and tried to build it. It’s funny because I talk about how if I would have got Clickfunnels 10 years ago, I wouldn’t have been able to do it. And its what happened. We tried it 10 years before I had Todd. I didn’t have the right people. And it crashed and burned. Again, we spent probably 2 or 3 years trying to build this, ran out of money during that whole crash, we gave up on it. That’s why when I did meet Todd and I asked him, can we build it? Part of me was like, “I’ve tried it before. I know other people who have tried it. I had a lot of other business partners, not business partners but friends who sat down like, and tried it as well. It just didn’t work. It was a good idea that just wasn’t simple to do. But we met Todd and then Dylan and made it possible. So this was 131 funnels later, this is the night that we started on the Clickfunnels project. It’s the only picture I have from that night. I wish we would have done more. So this is Todd here on the right hand side, some of you guys know Todd. On the left hand side is Dylan, and Dylan is no longer part of Clickfunnels, but he was one of the original cofounders with us. Dylan’s the one who built the original editor. So if any of you guys like the editor, that’s Dylan’s brainchild. He had spent 6 or 7 years prior trying to build a website editor for himself, we started building Clickfunnels we partnered together and plugged it all into one super system. But I wanted to share this story with you guys because as soon as we were aware of a level 10 opportunity, our eyes started looking for it, but we didn’t stop. I want, hopefully that gives some, a lot of you guys out here, especially ones who you’ve been doing this for a year or less than that, or a couple of years, who just haven’t hit it yet, or you’ve had marginal successes. Don‘t stop. The key is not waiting for the big opportunity. “I’m waiting for my Clickfunnels.” It’s do your thing as fast as you can and keep doing it, and doing it, and keep doing it. And as you keep doing it, you’ll get better and you’ll get better, and eventually it will get worthy enough that when a level 10 opportunity shows up you’ll be prepared for it. That’s the key. So don’t get upset like “Oh my funnel didn’t work. This thing didn’t work.” It’s going to be tough, there’s going to be frustrations, things aren’t always going to work the very first time, or the third time, but if you keep doing it and keep doing it, for me it was 131 times before I hit my big thing. And I’m hoping for you guys, you get it a lot faster than that. But even if you don’t, it’s worth it. I’m now, man, 16 years in this business, and it’s funny because I get people all the time they’re like, “You guys just came out of nowhere.” And it’s like, yeah. 16 years, that’s a long time I’ve been focusing on this. But it’s something I’m obsessed with and just kept doing it, and kept doing it and kept doing it. And when you keep doing your thing, the opportunities appear, they show up, and if you’ve done the work you’ll be prepared and ready for them.
How to find and earn your level 10 opportunity. This is the first half of a presentation I gave at Stephen Larsen’s OfferMind event. On today’s episode Russell shares a presentation from OfferMind about how he founded Clickfunnels and the journey it took to get there. Here are some of the amazing thing you will hear in part 1 of the presentation: Hear a funny story about potato guns being shipped to a hotel where an event was held, after the event was already over. Find out why even though family and friends were less than enthusiastic about all Russell’s new ideas, he kept talking about them. See why it took Russell more than 130 funnels before he created Clickfunnels. So listen here to part 1 of Russell’s Level 10 Opportunity presentation from OfferMind. ---Transcript--- What’s up everybody? It’s Russell Brunson. Welcome back to the Marketing Secrets podcast. Right now I am actually in the middle of our Two Comma Club Live event. I’m having so much fun. We’ve got 5000 people registered, had about 3500 people on live for the last day and a half straight. I’m on lunch break and I realized I didn’t have my podcast recorded for this week, so I was kind of scrambling, what would be the best thing I could give you guys? And I remember there’s a presentation I did at Stephen Larsen’s OfferMind, and it’s not the whole presentation. But the very beginning I kind of went on a rant, but I kind of went off because earlier that day I heard a bunch of people talking about, “Looking for my Clickfunnels, my big opportunity, my….” whatever it is, you know. And I kind of wanted to just talk about that. How do you find your level 10 opportunity? How do you find the big opportunity that’s for you, that was created for you? Because a lot of times people are waiting for that to hit them, and it’s like, no, no, no you have to understand that you have to be in momentum and moving forward for those things to come to you. And I kind of shared my journey about how I came into Clickfunnels and how it became a thing. So I’m going to share that presentation, it’s about 30 minutes long, so we’re going to break it over two episodes. So this is episode number one of two about how to find your level 10 opportunity. I’m so happy to have you guys here in Boise with us. Has the last day and a half been amazing so far? Very cool. I just want to take a moment and just acknowledge Stephen Larsen, or Steve Larsen, whatever he goes by today. He was always “Stephen” in the office, just so you know, because the way he spelled it always changed. But it’s crazy to look back and a couple Funnel Hacking Lives ago he bootstrapped his way, I’m sure you guys have heard this story, to get there. He slept in the lobby. Two days after that was in my office asking for a job. And then fast forward now a couple of years, was able to bring 650 people to Boise, Idaho on a week beginning, during a holiday, talking about offers for crying out loud. This is insane that you guys are all here. So let’s give him a huge round of applause. I wouldn’t have believed it. So cool. I got so many fun things to talk about today. I don’t have a normal presentation. Normally I have a million slides and everything like that. Today I want to do more storytime and I want to tell you guys some stories, have some fun, show you some cool stuff from the book that’s coming out, and a couple other cool things. So that’s kind of the game plan. But Katherine Jones just messaged me a few minutes ago, I’m not sure where you’re at in here, right here, hey! And she’s like, “If I came all the way to Boise, Idaho and you don’t tell at least one potato gun story, I’m going to be severely upset.” So I didn’t have a potato story planned, but then I just thought of one a second ago. So how many of you guys want a potato gun story real quick? Anyone want to go shoot potato guns after this? That’s the upsell, we’re doing that tomorrow for anyone….just kidding. No, it’s funny. We did a family event like a month ago in Denver. Who was at the family event with us? And we were trying to get all these potato gun kits shipped there to be able to show the kids and actually do that, and it’s funny because I haven’t sold my potato gun DVD for a decade now, and we used to have this supplier that would drop ship potato gun kits afterwards. So like a week before the event I was like, “We should see if they still drop ship potato gun kits, we’ll get them shipped to the event and it will be amazing.” and this whole thing. So I’m getting Melanie to try and call them, they have no answer, they won’t return our emails, but they still have an order button on their site. So we bought them at wholesale prices, had them shipped directly to the hotel in Denver. And Melanie told me, and Melanie told me yesterday, “I just got the shipping notice. They finally shipped them.” So there’s a whole bunch of potato gun kits getting shipped to Denver right now. So if any of you guys are there, you can just pick them up. So that’s the potato gun story I’ve got for you guys today. Maybe at Funnel Hacking Live we’ll do some more potato gun building or something. A whole extra late night session. Anyway, there you go. When Stephen first asked me to speak here, the first thing he did was he tried to make an irresistible offer. Did you guys hear about this already? So he went through the whole process, and then we talked and I’m like, ‘What should I talk about?” and we kind of had a whole direction I wanted to go. So I kind of started initially building my thoughts around that, but if anyone’s been watching my instagram, the last month of my life I’ve been deep trying to get this Traffic Secrets book done, and it’s been a lot. And it’s top of mind on a whole bunch of, it’s just there. So I’m going to kind of do both. I’m going to talk about the stuff I was going to talk about, but also go into Traffic Secrets because there’s parts I’ve never taught before that I just want to share. Again, I’ve never taught them publically, so they might come out really bad, it could be a complete flop, but I’m not getting paid, so it’s cool. I’m just kidding. Anyway, so I’m going to start at the very beginning. Initially when he first asked me to speak I really wanted to talk about, because I think it’s applicable to everyone in your journey. And I’m curious right now, how many of you guys have been in this entrepreneur game, trying to make money on the internet, this whole world for more than 5 years? Okay, how many of you guys have been less than 5 years? Less than 4 years? Less than 3? 2? Less than 1 year? How many of you guys found out about this a couple of days ago, you’re pumped? This is awesome. Can you imagine this being your first introduction? I think sometimes we come into these rooms, I know when I first got in there, man, it’s 15, 16 years now when I first learned about this world and I came into it. And I remember going and hearing all these people talking about stuff, and they’re sharing numbers and stats and I think I had this envisioned in my head that I was going to come in and like 5 days later I was going to be a kajillionaire and that was going to be how it worked, because all these other people were doing it. And I think a lot of people have that believe as well. Sometimes they come in and start working and doing the process, and if they don’t get it right away, they fall away from it, which is frustrating and it’s hard. So I wanted to kind of just talk about my journey for a little bit because every time I meet somebody, I always get people who are like, “I’ve known you ever since the beginning.” And I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, when was that?” and they’re like, “Back when you did the Dotcom Secrets book. Ever since the very beginning.” And I’m like, “There’s 10 years that I was doing this before the Dotcom Secrets book came out.” Or “All the way back to Microcontinuity.” Who here remembers microcontinuity? I was like, “I was 6 years in when that came out.” I’ve been doing this for a long, long, long, long time. There’s been a whole bunch of ups and downs. And one of the quotes that is in the new Traffic Secrets book, this is actually the Dotcom Secrets book. We just taped the cover to it. Anyway, oh we totally did. I had someone grab it and they’re like, “I took pictures of it inside.” And I was like, “Yeah, it’s literally Expert Secrets so…” anyway, but in the Traffic Secrets book, as I was writing it and researching and trying to figure out the right stuff, there was a quote and actually from an entrepreneur that lives here in Boise. Anyone here ever heard of ConvertKit? So Nathan Barry is the founder of ConvertKit, he’s a local Boisean as well, a really cool guy. Someone I have a ton of respect for. And I was writing the chapter on publishing and I’m not going to talk a lot about publishing today, but he had this quote that I ended up putting in the book that just meant the world to me. And I wanted to kind of start this way, as I start this presentation because I want this to be the thing that’s in your guys’ mind as we’re going through this journey together. So it’s part of an email he wrote, and the subject line was “Endure long enough to get noticed.” And he said, “How many great TV shows have you discovered in season 3 or later? I started watching Game of Thrones after they had released 5 seasons. Pat Flynn had released over 100 episodes of his podcast before I even knew it existed. I discovered Hard Core History years after Dan Carlin had started producing it. This is such a common experience. There’s so much content being produced that we can’t possible discover it all. So instead we wait for the best content to float to the surface after time. “Step one in building an audience is to create great content. And step two is to endure long enough to get noticed. Seth Godin is very generous with his time, and will appear on almost any relevant podcast, but you have to have recorded at least 100 episodes first. His filter is creators who have showed they’re willing to show up consistently for a long time.” So when I read that I was just like, man, it’s crazy. And I was talking to my wife about this the other day because it’s still, this whole thing is insanely weird to us, because this started 15, 16 years ago when we first got married. And I was sitting there and I’m learning about all this nerdy marketing stuff, and funnels, and we didn’t even call them funnels back then. But I was learning about stuff and direct response marketing and reading books about headlines and hooks, and all these things, and I was geeking out and I would try to talk to people about it. I’d talk to my friends, and my family, and my parents, and my brothers, and everyone, trying to explain it to them. And you’re like, for me it’s the most exciting thing in the world. I’d explain it to them, I’d go through and they look at me like, “Oh, that sounds really nice.” How many of you guys have friends or family when you started talking about this kind of stuff, they’re just like, “Oh.” You’re like, “Do you not understand what I’m talking about?” and I freak out, “This guy did this, and this person did this.” I’m telling them story after story after story of all these people, all the people that I saw on other stages telling their story. I’d tell their stories and they’re like, ‘Oh, that’s really nice.” I’m like, “How are you guys not getting this? How are you missing the energy behind this? What am I doing wrong to convey this?” And I would talk about it over and over and over again and nobody seemed to care. But I cared. It was so exciting for me. So after that I started talking louder, and eventually I had a couple of kids, I was still going to Boise State just down the road, and I had a couple of kids in my classes who started listening and they’re like, “That is really, that’s really cool.” And I’d tell them about them and they got excited and I told other people, and so many people never heard me. I was speaking but they never heard me. I kept speaking, and speaking and eventually a couple people started hearing, and then a couple more started hearing. But it was slow. And the first decade of me doing this, the groups were not ever big. In fact, the last event I did before Funnel Hacking Live, which was probably about 10 years ago, so probably about 7 or 8 years in I did an event. And we had I think 300 ish people signed up for it. And I was super excited. We did it down in Salt Lake, we drove me and our tiny team, we drove down there and we showed up and less than a hundred actually showed up after they bought tickets. And I’m in this room, just like, how is this so hard? This is the most exciting thing in the world to me and I can’t get people excited. But I kept talking and kept talking and kept talking because I was passionate about it. Okay, if I would have done this because I thought other people were going to get passionate about it, it would have withered up on the vine a long time ago. But I kept talking and so it’s so fascinating to me today that there’s 650 people in Boise on a week beginning during a holiday talking about offers for crying out loud. This is insane. We’re going to have 5000 people at Funnel Hacking Live, all talking about funnels and about all these crazy things that are so exciting. That people are buying books, when I wrote this first book, man, I can’t tell you how scared I was. How many of you guys have ever written a book before? Anyone ever heard, do you guys know Ryan Holladay? He’s one of my favorite authors right now. He is going to be speaking at Funnel Hacking Live, I’m so excited. So he’s written some amazing books, but my favorite of all his books is a book called Perennial Seller, which is a whole book about how you create content that lasts beyond the moment. He talked about a whole bunch of examples of movies, movies that last forever like Star Wars. It’s just going forever. Then you have other ones that make a ton of money and then they die. And in the book he talks about Star Wars, like names some lines from Star Wars, everyone can list off some lines, because the movie is a Perennial Seller. But he says, the highest grossing movie at the time was Avatar. And he said, “Can anyone think of a single sentence from Avatar?” can any of you guys give me a quote from Avatar? See, I didn’t even know that. We got one person who remembers a line from Avatar. Highest grossing movie, but it died. Friends was the same way. Friends is an amazing show, but when it ended it ended. Seinfeld has lived on. So what seems to work that lasts, and what doesn’t last. And he talks about that, it’s an amazing book called Perennial Seller. And again, he’s going to be talking at Funnel Hacking Live about how to create art that lasts beyond. Its not just for books, but art, movies, courses, whatever your thing is. How do you create stuff that lasts beyond yourself, which is something that I study because I don’t know, I’m in the phase of my life where I’m obsessed with the legacy of this whole thing. How do you do that? One thing he talked about in the book is how interesting it is with creators where when you create something you go into private. Like when I’ve been writing these books or doing whatever, I’m in private in my own house studying, learning, reading, geeking out, but then when you make it public it’s like, it goes for me from this private thing to this public thing, and the fear of rejection is like the scariest thing in the world. So I remember putting this out and being so scared. But I was so passionate, my heart and soul and a decade of my life went into this, and put it out there. And I remember sending it to a couple of my friends and just having so much anxiety like, “What if they read this and they hate it or they don’t like it? This is so important to me.” We put it out there, and luckily they liked it. In fact, Rich Schefren, how many of you guys know Rich Schefren? He was the one I was most scared to read it. That dude’s read every book on planet earth like 400 times. In fact, there’s a video of him on YouTube that’s worth watching. He shows his book writing process, he buys a book, he rips the binding off of it. Excuse me, first off he reads it all, highlights it. Then he cuts the binding off of it, he scans the whole thing, he sends the scan to one of his Filipino workers and then takes all the highlighted sections and writes them into a PDF. And then he’s done that for like, I don’t know, 7000 books over time, and then every morning he wakes up like, “What am I going to study today?” He’s like, “Copywriting. These are the 30 best copywriting books of all time.” Plugs in his highlights into like an iPad, jumps on the treadmill and he’ll read 30 books in the morning on whatever topic he wants to do that day. The dude’s obsessed, and he has a whole video showing the process. It’s the coolest thing in the world. I remember sending him the book and I’m just like, “If Rich hates it, I am done. I’m walking away from this whole thing.” And I remember afterwards he called me and he’s like, ‘Dude, your book…” I’m like, “Yeah…” he’s like, “It’s really good.’ I’m like, “Oh my gosh, are you serious?” that feeling. So I’m sure a lot of you guys have ever felt that or are going to feel it, it’s scary. Especially if you’re fired up, you’re excited about the next thing, the offer you’re going to create, all this stuff. But as you get in the creation mode and start putting it out there, there’s always going to be that fear of like, “I’m going to give it to the world and what if they reject it?” So that’s just, that’s going to be happening. But I wanted to kind of step back on my journey and I want to talk about all this stuff that I tried. In fact, I printed this out before I showed up here. Who here in this room thinks they made the most funnels. And not like a quick create funnel, and a demo funnel, and you have 8000 in your account. Who here has built more than 10 funnels? Built, launched, live, were pushed out into the world, traffic was sent to them? Who has built more than 20 funnels? More than 30 funnels? 40? 50? 60? 70? Anyone more than 70? Alright, okay I was able to find 131. Not just funnels that I played with a little bit, that we built, pre-Clickfunnels in Photoshop and Frontpage. That we built, created, launched and went live. Here’s the first couple of links right here, these are the next ones here, the next ones here, next ones here, next ones here. Every one of these is a funnel we’ve created, built, launched. My designers used Photoshop and I used Frontpage, because I could use Frontpage. In fact, I used Frontpage all the way until Clickfunnels launched, for my nerds out there. They’re like, “What about Dreamweaver?” I couldn’t figure out Dreamweaver. I used Frontpage and that’s all I ever did, and then Clickfunnels. But these are them, 131 funnels that I could find and I think there’s more. I’m going to try to eventually get them all and put them all in chronological order. But that’s how many funnels I created over a decade and a half before I created Clickfunnels. I share this with you guys for a reason because so many of you guys are looking at me and saying, “Oh my gosh, Russell created Clickfunnels, now he’s making hundreds of millions of dollars, this is so cool.” It didn’t happen overnight, by any stretch of the imagination. It happened because I kept doing it and kept doing it. I had an idea after idea, after idea, after idea. Most of you guys don’t have your big idea yet. You may think you do, but you don’t. All these ideas, every single one of these things I thought was my big idea. I put my blood, sweat and tears into it. Every single one of these things took months to be able to create, write the copy, do the design, get the thing. It was a labor of love every single time and most of them didn’t even work. I’m like, “how did that not work? It’s the greatest idea I ever had. Potato guns, seriously! It’s going to be huge.” Of all sorts of stuff. Someday it will be fun to do a whole presentation and show you guys the iterations of like, “I had this idea and this is why. And this one and this one.” It would take days though, just to go through them all. But that’s what I had to go through. And on this journey as I’m doing this, I don’t really know where I’m going. All I know is I’m just going. I’m moving. Momentum forward, right. How many of you guys feel like that sometimes? I don’t really know where I’m going, I’m just moving forward right now hoping something good happens. That’s good. I don’t know what it is, there’s something about motion and movement and forward progress, as you do that, God, the universe, whatever you want to call it starts rewarding you 4 things. As I was moving forward I’m like, “This is the greatest idea.” Started doing it, and it’s like, “Ah, it kinda sucks.” But all the sudden, that door opened, I met that person, I found this thing. And I start moving, the next thing. I try this and I try this, and I try this and all these things in this journey started, as I was moving forward, new ideas, new opportunities, new people came into my world that made it possible.

Today I wanna teach you guys HOW to launch an MLM product. I'm actually really excited to teach you how to launch an MLM product. A lot of research and time has gone into planning and putting this together. I wanna do a couple of things here... First of all, I want to bring attention to and help you think about how Hollywood launches a movie. Now think about this with me for a moment. There are really cool movies that are coming out soon, and I LOVE going to movie theaters! I love... The experience When you walk in the light is a little bit dim, which makes the pupils dilate a little bit more (they do that and restaurants also) The ambiance There's a lot to it! I'm actually a theme park junky as well. I'm not gonna lie... I love Disney. I'm that guy that would totally go on rides by myself because I love the experience of it. I love that before you even get on a ride they start pre-framing you for this big build-up. HOW DOES HOLLYWOOD LAUNCH A MOVIE? Right now you’re probably thinking, "What does that to have to do with what you're talking about?" Just think about this with me for just a moment. The way Hollywood launches a movie uses very much the same kind of methods. They both use: Anticipation Build-up Hollywood is always putting out small minute-long previews a year before the film comes out. They probably don't even have the movie done… But they're saying, "Hey here's when it's coming out". Sometimes it'll just be something as simple as the title. They did this with one of the most recent Star Wars movies. They did a trailer six months ahead of time and all it did was play the iconic Star Wars music with the title and date overlayed. And the crowd went ballistic! I was like, "Oh my gosh, that's awesome." There was NO story, it didn't say anything! Now I want you to think about this a moment… WHY is this such a powerful and impactful thing? What happened six months later? They release a little bit of a story, usually about the protagonist. They tell a little bit of background and they add a little bit of conflict in. None of us like conflict but can you imagine how boring life would be if there wasn't any? We do want a little bit of drama in our lives, whether or not you're willing to admit it ;) If everything was easy 24/7 There were no challenges No trials, nothing in our life The salt of life would be gone. THE KEY TO LAUNCHING A PRODUCT Think about this with me for a moment… Three months later and they release another preview. Every single preview up until then has been giving you a specific date (or at least season if it's like a year out), "It's coming out on this day at this time". **This is very very key to understand.** They build up pressure and they build up pressure and they build up pressure up until the specific day… THEN they'll start releasing: Pre-booked tickets Specific experiences that you can have with the movie Now when the day of the actual movie comes up there's a HUGE amount of pressure that's built on a specific day in time like, "BOOM". As a society, even if you're not a huge movie-goer there's a big percentage of people who have been educated on what the movie is and what it's gonna be about. There's open loops like crazy, so there's a lot of curiosity and everyone's like, "I gotta go on that day" right? But before that comes up… They're gonna get the actors to go and hang out on night shows. They're gonna go on: Jimmy Fallon's Show The Tonight Show Today Show … They're building up pressure for this thing and at the end of each of those shows, they're like, "Make sure you go see the show coming out this day, back to you guys". If you look at what's happening, they're orchestrating this incredible event. Not at a certain location, not at one spot, but they're orchestrating an event… They're orchestrating NOISE. And that's what campaigns are, they're building a campaign. THE POWER OF A BOX OFFICE LAUNCH Now, all of this pressure gets built up and it pushes towards this specific day and then "BAM", box office weekend happens. They make so much money on the initial weekend that the movie's open, that there's usually not that much money left... I mean there's a lot of money, but nothing like that huge initial burst, "BOOM!" That huge initial burst pays for… Not just the crews It pays for ALL the stuff … Then they just live on the cash flow that's gonna come from the remainder of that film's life. THAT’S BIG. Obviously, this is NOT a new concept… But think about that. Most brand new products that there's a lot of buzz around, they ALL follow that same pattern! THESE GUYS KNEW HOW TO LAUNCH Three of my favorite guys EVER are: Albert Lasker P.T. Barnum Claude Hopkins SIDE NOTE: Have you seen the movie "The Greatest Showman"? That movie is largely made up… He started the circus as his retirement project NOT to take care of his young family. Hollywood completely made that up. Here’s some facts about P.T. Barnum: Most of P.T. Barnum's career was done around museums P.T. Barnum was the first guy to bring an elephant to America (so he made a huge deal around that) Anyway… These guys lived INCREDIBLE lives and they ALL understood the same principle of building a pressure. Stick with me because this is very, very powerful and will help you understand HOW to launch an MLM product. I KNOW one of the reasons why a lot of people don't do well in MLM is because they don't know what I'm talking about right here. When P.T. Barnum first brought an elephant to America, he wanted to make a big deal about it. He wanted to make a huge deal about it. THE P.T BARNUM STYLE LAUNCH So how did P.T. Barnum launch this elephant to the world? He was rich a rich dude. He's the second millionaire in America. One of his houses on the outskirts of New York was right next to these busy train tracks that led into the center of New York. When he brought this elephant to America, he decided to plow his fields with an elephant right next to the train tracks. The funny thing is… They were not plowing ANYTHING. They were fake plowing! NOTHING was planted there! But he continued to plow his field with an elephant next to that incredibly busy train track until over 60 reporters showed up and they ALL captured the story. These reporters ran the story all over the place. Only once he felt he had got enough buzz around him and his museum… THEN he finally stopped fake plowing his field with an elephant and sold the elephant. But that technique created a HUGE boost in revenue for his museum. He kept doing this over and over and over again, every single time he started selling something brand new. This is a BIG lesson in HOW to launch an MLM product and I'm trying to help you understand it. This is one of the reasons why people don't buy from MLM-ers even though you have a great product… Because you don't understand the principle of a campaign. Every time P.T. Barnum had a new product, he would create a campaign around the product. HOW NOT TO LAUNCH AN MLM PRODUCT Albert Lasker would do the exact same thing. PT Barnum is famous for another campaign he did around a fake Mermaid that was "caught off the coast of Fiji". He created this whole ruse. I'm not here to say whether or not that was good or bad… But the principle behind it is that whenever you have a product, you need to create a campaign. Imagine if Hollywood spent $100 million dollars putting together a two-hour movie… And the first time you hear about it, is the day it goes to the movie theater. QUESTION: How successful that would be? ANSWER: Not very successful. But most MLM-ers do that with their own MLMs product. What I'm trying to help you understand here is HOW to launch an MLM product. And to do that, you need to behave like a brand new MLM coming onto the market. You need to build: Anticipation A campaign All this pressure! … It's orchestrated noise, it's orchestrated pressure. You need to behave like a brand new MLM. Right now you’re probably thinking, "But Stephen, my MLM's not brand new." Yeah… But it might be new to all the people that you talk to about it. There are TONS of MLMs out there I don't know about. TONS. And I'm in this space with you! You need to be building up noise and pressure and anticipation around the fact that there is this AMAZING thing coming out and, for a limited window of time, "box office weekend", you can participate in this great experience. HOW TO LAUNCH AN MLM PRODUCT It's not enough to… Have a great product Always let something be available You need to take it off the market or say it's only available at this certain price/discount at this certain time. When you do that, you're behaving like a brand new company entering the marketplace. Creating buzz, creating a campaign, on a specific date, specific time, for a certain amount of time, a certain window… And then take it off. I'm not saying to stop selling the product… But for new people that you're gonna acquire there's nothing wrong with opening up the window and saying, "Hey, the promo is only available for this amount of time. You can still buy it, but the promo's only available here.” QUESTION: What do most MLMs do to their own distributors? "Hey, there's a new flavor coming out… But it's only for this time." This is a skill set that most MLMs know very well. YOU’RE the distribution channel… They actually call you a distributor. YOU’RE the one that goes and buys it. HOW TO LAUNCH AN MLM PRODUCT SUCCESSFULLY What I need to understand and the point of this episode is that you can step back and say, "Oh my gosh, I've never behaved like a brand new business.” You're technically a new company… But you DON’T enter the marketplace like a brand new company. You gotta build up the pressure around that and then turn around and say, "Hey, only available for this time." Remember what P.T. Barnum did with his elephant? He found something SHOCKING - an elephant He put it in front of distribution - a train. You can build your own distribution channels, but it is waaay faster to hook into a distribution that already exists. Find your train and start putting something out there and keep doing it until you feel like you've generated enough a BUZZ around the thing that you sell. This is big. It's one of the reasons why most people don’t know how to launch an MLM product and they don't have any success with this stuff. It's because they've never taken the time to sit back and actually orchestrate a campaign. They don't behave like Hollywood releasing a movie. Please, please behave like Hollywood releasing the movie. You’ll find an insane amount of power will come in your pocket because most people don't know how to launch an MLM product with that one skill set. A campaign is nothing more than orchestrated noise towards a specific date. HOW TO LAUNCH AN MLM PRODUCT WITHOUT FACEBOOK Facebook campaigns… That's NOT a campaign. Facebook is destroying the term campaign, they're killing it. A campaign is NOT an ad. It can be part of a campaign, but it's NOT a campaign. It's like saying a tire is a car. No, a tire is part of a car, but it's not the car. It’s the same thing with Facebook ads… Paid advertising is not the only way to get traffic. In fact, it's one of the weakest forms of it up until a certain point, and only then it becomes very powerful. Think about the old school guys like P.T. Barnum, Clyde Hopkins, Albert Lasker. These are the old-school marketers that changed the way we do a lot of stuff now. They didn't have all that tech… So how did they generate noise? ANSWER: They were pros at creating buzz around a certain date and time with a certain message. You've likely been given a script or message from your MLM You probably have an awesome offer because your product is amazing The reason why most people don't get paid in MLM for a while is that they don't know how to launch an MLM product and create campaigns. HOW TO LAUNCH AN MLM PRODUCT STEVE LARSEN STYLE What I would do is… I would interview lots of people Tell everybody that all the interviews are gonna be released on a certain date and time Sell your product on the back of it That’s almost guaranteed to generate a spike in sales. The whole point of this episode is to help you understand why you need to behave like a new company entering the marketplace and how to launch an MLM product. You can do it every quarter or every month, or however often you choose to do it. Those spikes and sales is usually what cover my business expenses for quite some time… And then I live off of the cash flow. This is a general business principle. That's some gold nuggets right there. LEARN HOW TO LAUNCH AN MLM PRODUCT Probably the biggest question I get is: “Steve, how are you using the internet for your personal MLM today?” To be clear, I am, but it's HOW that matters, and it's HOW that you're probably interested in. Facebook doesn't easily let you drive ads to MLM, and most MLMs won't even let you say their name on the internet, which is stupid. Despite those and other forces, I am using the internet to grow my personal downline and sell products. MLM is changing, and you're probably feeling that, right? It's why I created a little mini-course in a bundle… To show you HOW I'm doing this all today. It's called The MLM Funnel and you can get it at themlmfunnel.com. I'm doing this because you might not know WHERE to start in all of this and, secondly, because there's a cool new book by Russell Brunson called Network Marketing Secrets that I want you to go get. He's a cool guy, so I'm talking about this book a lot lately. I'm also going to give you a little bribe so you go get the book through my link. How evil of me. When you go to themlmfunnel.com and get Russell's new book, Network Marketing Secrets, I'm going to give you my Pre-built Recruiting Funnel Template, the Hack MLM Downline Onboarding Course, which is how I auto-train my downline when they join my team. ALSO, a discount ticket to my next event called OfferMind so that you can learn to outvalue your upline and downline. If you want all this for FREE, just go to themlmfunnel.com now and get a crash course into prebuilt funnel templates that I'm using with my own downline now. Again, just go to themlmfunnel.com and buy Russell Brunson's new book there, and I'll send you all those bonuses for free.

Today I want to address a VERY big question that people ask me… "Is MLM saturated?" There’s something I've started doing a lot in the evenings… I just go for a 10 - 20-mile bike ride. I also like to walk quite a bit so I can just listen to podcasts. I'm studying I'm thinking Sometimes I'm just jamming out to music … It's become my ME time. I'm sure it won't always be in the evenings, but it has been for the past little bit… Especially while I've just done my big OfferMind. So many of you guys came and it was AWESOME! About 650 people had a ticket and about 600 showed up (which is a pretty standard show-up rate for an event). We did a good chunk in sales, and it's just been so much fun to work with all those new people. I've really, really enjoyed it. What's interesting is... Since then, I've needed some DECOMPRESS time. At the time of recording this episode, I'm speaking at Carnegie Hall. Martha Stewart is speaking Michael Gerber is gonna be there Dan Kennedy is gonna be there so long as his health is okay ... This is nuts! ANYWAYS: If you guys wanna change your life, listen to what I'm doing on this show. Go publish for ONE YEAR… Come back to me in one year and you tell me if your financial life is not drastically different. There is something magical about publishing. **That's not the purpose of today's episode.** THE GIFT OF MLM MARKET SATURATION I wanna address a question that comes up frequently and you have likely have heard it if you've been in this space for more than six months. I LOVE MLM. I love it. It's so, so, so fun. One of my favorite things to do in MLM is to look at articles that other people have posted about why they think MLM is NOT okay. And what you’ll find is... Most people who publish these articles are usually those who've been in it but DID NOT figure out how to have success and they feel jaded. They feel, "Oh, everything's bad. For shame. For shame." And they go write these terrible reviews… That makes some people think, "Well, that just means MLM is bad." No, no, no! I've had NEGATIVE reviews. I've had TERRIBLE reviews. There are always naysayers and it doesn't change just because it IS or IS NOT MLM, network marketing, direct sales, whatever you choose to call it. There will always be Negative Nancies with Poopy Pants syndrome… That’s just how it is. I believe it's a GIFT that people think MLM is saturated… And I’m gonna tell you WHY. It's NOT because it lowers competition… THE TYPE OF MARKET I DON’T WANT A little while ago, I had somebody reach out to me and say, "Steven, I would love to buy Secret MLM Hacks. How much money will you guarantee that I will make?" And I was like, "What are you talking about?" I don't know if I've told you this in the past but just stick with me for a moment here… They said, "How much money do you guarantee I will make with your course?" And I said, "I don't even know who you are. I'm not gonna guarantee a number. This may not be for you." She said, "Are you telling me that you don't wanna sell it to me?" And I was like, "Yeah, I don't think you're a good fit for it." She's was like, "Are you serious?" So I said, "Yeah." I don't care if you have the money. The way I bring somebody into my product is usually what determines what they do after they've bought the product. MEANING: If I have to beg somebody into my downline, I usually have to beg them to do something while they're in my downline. I DON’T want that kind of individual (and I'm not judging someone's self-worth). I want somebody who is going to be a runner, a builder… Someone who's gonna run around and go far with this thing. I am not trying to convince anybody to get in my downline. I do stuff like what I'm doing right now. People who hear my voice and see what I'm doing… They catch the vision and they find a way into my downline. I'm NOT trying to pitch you, but you need to understand why this is such a powerful principle. THE SATURATED MLM MARKET GIFT I don't BEG or ASK anybody to join my downline. You know that nasty convincing feeling that you get sometimes? We've all been there, it's okay. You're like, "Man, I feel like I've kinda pushed them in there." … And then they don't do ANYTHING. That’s exactly what I'm talking about. When people say, "The market is saturated. The market is so saturated." THAT’S A GIFT! That’s why I went into MLM. The fact that I can say, "MLM," and 90% of any room already has an opinion… Oh my gosh! That's huge. I love the show Shark Tank. In one of the episodes of Shark Tank, there is an episode where they loved this guy… They loved his product They loved what he was doing They loved everything about this guy … But they didn't fund him. The reason they didn't fund him was one of the most powerful lessons I've ever learned in my life. They said, "We want your product, BUT it would take us millions of dollars to educate the market enough to want to buy that product." "We want your product, BUT it would take millions of dollars to EDUCATE the market enough to want to buy that." That's the ONLY reason they didn't fund him. I DON’T WANT TO EDUCATE THE MARKET Education takes time and money. The fact that I can walk into a room and say, "MLM," and 90% of everyone already knows what the heck I'm talking about is a GIFT. It is a gift. When someone says, "Oh, well, the market's really saturated." That just means the market's been validated. That DOESN’T mean that you shouldn't go into it. When I'm looking to see what to sell, I look for the MOST: Competitive Cutthroat Bloody red market … That I can. I want that. This is literally one of my strategies. I know it is one of the reasons I’ve done so well. In the last year and a half leaving my job, we're about to cross $4 Million. The strategy I'm teaching you right here right now is one of the MAJOR reasons why stuff has blown up so much. It's blown up so much because I have actively pursued bloody red, highly competitive markets. YOU DON’T NEED TO EDUCATE THE MLM SPACE This is a deep concept but if you came to OfferMind, you know what I'm talking about. The reason I want saturated markets is that the customer has ALREADY been educated. I don't need to be the one educating them. There's a HUGE market out there. So much money is running around the MLM space and that market is constantly finding new customers. People who were NEVER planning on being a customer. The MLM market as a whole are educating my dream customer for me. All I do is wait patiently for that person to get frustrated with what they've been taught. "Hey, you want to have success in MLM? Go talk to all your friends and family." I just wait. I wait for that person to get frustrated enough that when they finally see my message, my Facebook ads, my YouTube videos, the podcast or whatever it might be, they look at it and they go, "You know what? I'm kind of tired. I didn't realize that there's another way to do this." BOOM! MLM MARKET POSITIONING I don't need to tell them that the other way is painful because they're experiencing pain. It's one of the greatest hacks to the game EVER. This is one of the FIRST things I do with any corporate clients. I don't just serve the MLM space. I've done a lot of stuff with lots of big people and that's one of the first things I help them figure out. That's called MARKET POSITIONING. You need to figure out how you’re gonna position yourself in relation to the market. All I do is wait for people to get frustrated in the MLM space and I'm ready and waitin over here on this side, just speaking as loud as I can. I'm just shouting my message into that space. I'm not convincing I'm not pushing This is one of the FASTEST ways to grow 'cause I'm NOT the one educating them. An entire market is saying the exact same thing. There are billions, probably trillions of dollars inside MLM. And they're the ones who are educating my future dream customer. When somebody says, "Oh, the MLM space is really, really saturated." GOOD! WHY I LOVE SATURATED MARKETS Do you know why I sell in the ClickFunnels space also? QUESTION: How much money and manpower is being spent on educating funnel builders inside of ClickFunnels? ANSWER: They have over 400 employees. They spend millions of dollars in overhead every month. When someone comes in and says, "I'm gonna compete with that." It's like, "Good luck, Chuck." You gotta look at the firepower you're dealing with. All I do with the ClickFunnel space is complement it. When somebody comes into ClickFunnels, I'm like, "Hey, use ClickFunnels 'cause you should use ClickFunnels and it's dumb not to. By the way, if you want a free trial go to freecftrial.com and it'll give you a free trial of ClickFunnels, freecftrial.com.” But what I do with ClickFunnels is wait patiently for the person to just say, "You know what, I wish somebody would just build it for me." With ClickFunnels, I compliment that market. But in MLM, I compete with that market. I'm throwing rocks into the market. I DON’T do that with ClickFunnels. I'm NOT throwing rocks at ClickFunnels. That's dumb. I love ClickFunnels. My market positioning matters. So when I hear somebody say something like, "Hey, but the MLM space is supersaturated." That is market validation! That actually represents security. But you're not taught that in school. I was taught that it’s bad! I was taught that when there’s competition, I should run the other way. WRONG! It takes a lifetime of dedication to build the momentum that's required to build a market. I can either spend my entire lifetime going and developing a new market OR go see where the noise already is. What you have to understand is that a marketer DOES NOT create attention. They just align with where attention already is. THE BENEFIT OF A SATURATED MLM MARKET Realize the benefit to having such massive saturation. It is a benefit. Then all I gotta do is figure out, "How am I gonna position myself in relation to that market?" THIS is one of the reasons why my stuff is blowing up so much. I look for places where there's a lot of noise and lots of pressure. I don't need to create that because it's already there! One of the reasons MLM works so well is because I have purposefully targeted the MLM space, knowing that it's saturated. One of the biggest fears I had was that I couldn’t go talk to someone because they'd already been pitched… Q: How many books have you ever bought on one topic? My guess is that it's more than one. It's a false belief to sit back and say, "I can't because they have already purchased." GOOD! I should not be the first person that my customer ever buys from. I want to help you realize there are literally decades of previous people who've built ALL this: Pressure Noise Education … For us! I don't have to educate people on what MLM is. All I have to do is educate them on why my stuff is cool and why they should buy it. It's a gift. I don't care what MLM you're in, I just want to go change the industry. EDUCATE THE SECRET MLM HACKS MARKET I know it's tough to find people to pitch after your warm market dries up, right? That moment when you finally run out of family and friends to pitch. I don't see many up lines teaching legitimate lead strategies today. After years of being a lead funnel builder online I got sick of the garbage strategies most MLMs have been teaching their recruits for decades. Whether you simply want more leads to pitch or an automated MLM funnel, head over to secretmlmhacks.com and join the next FREE training. There you're gonna learn the hidden revenue model that only the top MLMers have been using to get paid regardless if you join them. The last episode I did was standing here as well… I had two big thoughts on my mind so I wanted to do another one here. About two or three weeks ago I hosted an event called OfferMind. I sold 650 tickets We sold about $1.9 million on stage … Which is awesome! It was a screaming success and it was a lot of fun. We'll continue to sell that program which is exciting. It was interesting because the ONE skillset you guys can go learn that will massively improve your wallet is MARKETING. The better marketer you are, the less amazing at sales you have to be. When I do my events, I like to teach A LOT. We went from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and we only took a lunch and a dinner break. One of the principles that I like to talk about the most, is this whole concept of sales psychology. One of the things that made the events so unique is: I don't really want to teach people the newest thing on Facebook. What I do care about is, what is true marketing? HINT HINT: We'll probably gonna have an MLM event soon called Hack MLM Live. WHY DID PEOPLE LIKE OFFERMIND? One of the reasons why people like OfferMind events so much is that I have an obsession with marketing history. I actually wanted to be a 10th-grade history teacher for a long time. I love studying American history and world history. I'm 31 now and what it's turned into is an obsession with marketing history. At the event, I said to everybody, “The purpose of this event is for me to remove the Internet. I wanna remove today's modern distribution channels”. Let's take those away…. What's that to do with MLM? Just hold on tight and I'll show you. https://youtu.be/6Xn5vTcQxD0 Let's go back to 200 years ago… To the time when the printing press was starting to come around in 1750. The printing press came around and suddenly we could have duplicatable messages that they were sending out... That's a BIG deal. Before that, you had to one-on-one to tell everybody. I told everybody at the event, “Let's remove everything to do with the Internet, learn what marketers in that time used to go do, study their patterns and then add the Internet.” That is powerful. Otherwise, the Internet can be a distraction. We think that posting on social media is marketing… IT’S NOT… It's posting on social media! The purpose of the event was to teach what marketing actually is in the context of old school times and then add in powerful Internet principles. It was very, very successful. THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND THE REFUND One of the things that people like the most, is studying this whole bio-psychology. I know I've talked about this a little bit in the past, but there's a certain key point to this. QUESTION: Have you had anybody refund on you? You do the whole phone or hotel meeting or you three-way him, or you spend time with that individual, and you can tell they're not all about it. Vice versa. There are other people where you show them the product and they're like, "This is the best thing since sliced bread, I love the product." Imagine you're talking to somebody and they're not loving it. You walk away, and you got the sale but it's kind of shaky. And you're walking away and let's say you got them on auto shipper. You walk away from him, and that dreaded text comes to you (cause they're not confident enough to actually call you) and they say, "Stephen, we were talking about this and I know I'm within my three day refund period and we just really want the money back." And you're like, "Ugh! Oh my gosh." We have ALL had that experience. Don't act like you haven't. If you haven't, you need to sell harder. Refunds are normal. There are very famous marketers that believe if they DON’T have a 10% refund rate, they’re not marketing hard enough Refunds are normal. DOPAMINE Let's say you have that experience… Why does that happen? There's a principle that I wanna walk you guys through on why that happens. There are four hormones in the brain that causes us to feel good. They're naturally produced by the brain. The first chemical is Dopamine. Dopamine is the chemical of DISTRACTION. We love to get distracted. It is statistically proven that you check your phone 72 times a day. WHY? Dopamine. Mark Zuckerberg said on film to Congress, "Yes, we brought in addiction specialists to make Facebook as addicting as possible." I'm not here to argue whether or not that's right or wrong. That's the statement. They engineered addiction into it. Dopamine is the easiest chemical for our brains to produce out of the four hormones. OXYTOCIN The next chemical is Oxytocin. Oxytocin is the chemical of connection. Of the four, it's the one that we want the most. I need a connection. I need to connect with people. Seth Godin teaches that right now, there's never been a time in history where we have de-tribed so much. We are de-tribing as a society. But funny enough, it's the chemical we seek the MOST. We're not relying on each other like we used to, but we desperately need to feel a connection, which is caused by the chemical oxytocin. We will give up our: Religion Relationships Beliefs Morals … In order to get a connection, even if it's fake connection. We need connection as a species. SEROTONIN The next chemical is Serotonin. Serotonin is a chemical of status. I don't mean like, "I'm better than you." That's not what it is. Status meaning validation. Meaning, I'm okay in my eyes, and I'm okay in those people's eyes over there too. It's one of the driving forces we have as entrepreneurs. I love this stuff man, I really go into this. ENDORPHINS The next chemical is Endorphins. Endorphins are the chemical of work reward. Let's say I'm gonna go jog around a track. The first three or four laps are gonna suck… They always do. But what happens once you get past that first mile is you get the runner's high. That's a work reward. That's endorphins. It's not dopamine, it's not oxytocin, it's not serotonin, it's endorphins. Endorphins come as a response to work reward. It comes in as the response of pain… The pain of growth. I might feel some growing pains as I'm sprinting around the track, but I'll start to feel some endorphins feel goods and it makes me keep going. WHY DO PEOPLE REFUND There are different ways to cause these chemicals inside of the buying process. And there's something I've discovered and learned how to do quite well. You consuming this right here… I'm giving you dopamine 'cause I've distracted you from something else today. Status in terms of it's very much US versus THEM, new MLM versus old MLM. I try to be as vulnerable as possible with this show, which actually gives a semblance of oxytocin. Endorphins are gonna be very hard for me to give you while you read this right now because you're not doing much. If I was to have you go do two or three things and check a box, it would start to give the chemical of endorphins and the feel-goods. I wanna tell you guys why the refund happens. Let's say you're pitching somebody and they're buying from you… They're getting dopamine because they're getting distracted. They're getting oxytocin, one of the easiest ways to get oxytocin is through purchases. You get that buyers high. Let's say there's a brand involved. They know it's an amazing brand. There's a sense of status that comes with it, serotonin. There's a little bit of work reward. The work they did is they pulled their credit card out and they're buying, they're feeling endorphins, man they're on a high. You're getting home all four hormones during the purchasing process. LOGICAL REASONS FOR A REFUND So why do they refund? What's happening in the brain? What happens in the brain is the purchase is not over. Buying is emotional. As I start to purchase, the right side of the brain is really where a lot of those emotions happen, and it overrides the left or logical side of my head. So I stop thinking logically. And when I start saying, "Hey, buy now. It's buy one, get one free right now." Guess what happens? What happens in the brain is they start to justify the purchase. “You know what, it makes sense for me to buy this right now because it's buy one, get one free”. They think it's logical… It's actually emotional though. As they walk away and those hormones start to burn off, the left brain starts to pop back in and go, "Oh crap. Oh my gosh. Why did I just buy this?" They start to freak out a little bit, like, "Oh my gosh. I wasn't planning on buying this thing today." And the left brain has to start justifying the action. I know I'm spitting a lot of stuff here, but understand that *THIS* is where the key is. If you wanna drop your refunds, this is how you do it. REASONS WHY PEOPLE REFUND The other reason why somebody refunds is because you have not armed the logical side of the brain during the sale. You heard what I just said? That's a BIG statement right there. You might wanna go back up and read that sentence again. One of the BIGGEST reasons why you get refunds is because you did not arm the left side of the brain during the sale. MEANING: You didn't give logical closes. Let's say that you go into a grocery store and you're like, "All I'm gonna get is eggs." How many times you actually walk out with just eggs? ANSWER: Never. Why? Beause you like to buy. Everyone likes to buy. "You know what, I should get some bread while I'm here", "You know what, I'm gonna go ahead and get the orange juice while I'm here." "Since I'm here... " What are you doing? Logically justifying. What happens when the first loved one walks up to you and says, "I thought you were just getting eggs?" You panic and think, “What do I say? What do I say?” What I say is the CLOSES. (I'm going way more tactical, far less story than I should on this podcast episode, but I'm hoping that you guys catch this.) LOGICAL REASONS AND CLOSES What happens is as the customer walks away and confronts their first loved one, they cite logical closes. A logical close is nothing more than a reason to ACT NOW. What are they gonna cite? It was buy one, get one free It was half off If I did it now, I got in my buddy for half off Do you know what I'm saying? They start citing logical reasons to act now. Not the stories that you told them. Go watch the last podcast and what I’m saying will make more sense. People DON’T cite the stories, they cite the logical reasons to act now to save face in front of loved ones who asked why they bought something. [PAUSE FOR EFFECT] People cite logical reasons to act now to save face in front of their loved ones. WHY PEOPLE REFUND RECAP Let me recap this real fast here and tie it in a nice little bow. I know that was a lot of stuff. Maybe watch this a few times too 'cause I know that's thick. This is a pretty deep topic. But just think about this… WHAT THIS MEANS IS: When you're selling somebody, you wanna give them as many logical reasons that they should be doing this as possible. You wanna be telling them things like: "It makes sense." "You're smart to get this done now because it's half off." "It makes sense what you take action this now. I totally would too because it is buy one, get one free before midnight." "I wish that I had this opportunity like you have now 'cause I didn't have this when I started." QUESTION: What did I just do? ANSWER: I just armed them with something that they can quote to loved ones when they try to save face later on. Once those buying hormones die-off on the right side of the brain, the left side is left to fend for itself and unless you arm it, they start getting buyer's remorse. That was one of the pieces people really liked at OfferMind. MY REFUND RATE I really don't have that many refunds on Secret MLM Hacks. In fact, with ALL the products I sell, I have an extremely low refund rate. And it's because I understand that part of my role when selling them is NOT to sell them ONLY on the decision to buy. I'm actually arming them post-sale on how to save face in front of their loved ones. That's my role, not theirs. The sale is NOT OVER until they can justify the purchase to loved ones. Otherwise, what happens is people step back and they say, "Well crap. I think I got swindled." because they can't cite any of the logical reasons to act now. Because of that, they start getting buyers remorse. They freak out! The whole point of this episode is that ONE sentence right there: The purchase is not over until you have armed them to save face and status in front of the loved ones once they challenge the purchase. THAT’S IT. And the way you do that is by arming them with lots of logical reasons to act now. When people are like, "I don't know that I like closing." You're killing your refund rate. NEWSFLASH: You're not closing hard, you're helping them save face. You're giving quotables that they're gonna go say to their loved ones. NO ONE ASKS FOR A REFUND ON OFFERMIND One of the reasons I did $1.9 million in sales at OfferMind is because I stacked closes. I've NEVER had a table rush. That was the FIRST table rush I've ever had my entire life. I hadn't even sent the freaking price and people were standing up and slamming the credit card down. BUT I DIDN’T STOP. I kept speaking. There were 650 people and half the room was on their feet! Do you know how loud the room was? I kept going like NO ONE was standing. I talked for another 15 minutes with everybody up, just doing my closers. Dave Woodward, one of the executives of ClickFunnels, is a funnel freak. He paid for this program before he even knew what was in it. He was the first one in the program and he was super excited about it. He’s a funnel freak… Are you? He's in the program and I want you to be as well. You need to tell people WHAT to cite after they go back home and the emotions have died. Logically, they need to know that they should be in the program. They're NOT the salesman, and now they have to sell their loved ones on the decision they made. If you haven't armed them with those logical reasons, they’re gonna feel like you took them. You didn't… But it just feels that way to them. MASSIVE RANT OVER. THE PSYCHOLOGY OF THE SALE Hopefully you enjoyed this episode of Secret MLM Hacks Radio. I love doing this show. If you could please leave me a review, that'd be AWESOME! This stuff works. I love MLM, I love what I do, I love sales, I love marketing, I love funnels. The opportunity we have right now is RIDICULOUS. There's never been a time where distribution has been so easy. Where products are made so quickly. Where society discipline is dropping so much… Which means if you just do ANYTHING. I know it's tough to find people to pitch after your warm market dries up, right? That moment when you finally run out of family and friends to pitch. I don't see many up lines teaching legitimate lead strategies today. After years of being a lead funnel builder online I got sick of the garbage strategies most MLMs have been teaching their recruits for decades. Have you been watching the buzz that we’ve been creating? Listen in on my thoughts about what we’re doing and why. On today’s episode Russell recounts how an announcement he’s making on Clickfunnels’ 5 year birthday got so much buzz. Here are some of the exciting things you will hear in this episode: How so many rumors about an upcoming announcement came from a simple two minute video. What some of the rumors going around about Clickfunnels 5 year birthday announcement are. And how studying the story of P.T. Barnum helped Russell see why creating buzz would be a better way to make announcements. So listen here to see how so much buzz was created around this announcement, and don’t forget to watch Facebook Live on Monday to find out what the announcement actually is. ---Transcript--- What’s up everybody? Good morning, good morning. This is Russell Brunson and I want to welcome you back to the Marketing Secrets podcast. Today I’m going to be reading the second half of the Traffic Secrets book. Alright, so I’m not actually reading it on this podcast. That’d be the longest podcast of all time. But I finished the Traffic Secrets book, did I tell you this already? We’re back from Fiji, and right before we went to Fiji we submitted the final manuscript to the publisher and then they have their editors go through and then send it back to us and we have to do our last edit. And then next Friday, a week from today, I have to submit it and at that point I can never touch it again. So I was kind of freaking out about it because when I read the Dotcom Secrets, and Expert Secrets books, when I finished those, after I got done I went and I remember I recorded the audio versions of them. And as I was recording the audio book versions I found all these mistakes and errors that I hadn’t found even though I read the book like 100 times through. But because I was publishing those through a smaller publisher I was literally able to make the audiobook, make changes, send it to them, and they changed it last minute and then we started printing them. But with this book, the book doesn’t come out until May 5th so it’s like, I don’t know, 7 or 8 months from now, which makes me sad because I want to start selling it tomorrow, because that’s what I do. But we have to wait for forever. So my audiobook I’m probably not going to record until next march or something. At that point it will be too late to make edits and stuff. So I was kind of freaking out, so I thought, I’m going to just do a live reading of it, that way I can read it out loud and I can edit it. So that was the plan. Then I was like, maybe I should invite my traffic team so they can hear my thoughts on traffic to make sure we’re all in alignment. So I invited the traffic team. And then we’re like, wait a minute, if we’re doing this anyway, we might as well record it because who knows, maybe something cool will come from it. So we’re like, if we’re going to record it we should set up a big set, it’s kind of like that book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. So then we set up the big set, and we’re like, this looks amazing. We should sell access to it. So basically for anyone who bought a Funnel Hacking Live ticket by right now, gets to come and listen to me read the Traffic Secrets book live. So I read the first half of it yesterday, it took like 8 hours. It was really tiring and exhausting. But I did it. So we did that first. And then when that was, so then today I’m reading the second half. So that’s what’s been happening over here. And it’s kind of fun actually reading it that way. It’s interesting, as I’m reading it, for the most part I’m liking all of it. There’s a couple parts I’m just like, ugh, this reads really weird. Or I don’t feel it here. Or I’m getting bored reading this part. Or this part was really fun and exciting. You know, there’s definitely different parts. And then it’s also funny because I found things that the editors edit, and I’m like, I don’t like how that was said, or I don’t like how this thing…you know what I mean? So I gotta change this back, or I gotta add in my voice back in here. Anyway, I remember my grandpa, my grandpa was a professor at BYU, a history professor, and he wrote like, I don’t know, 10 different books on like Columbus and all these old history things that he obsesses about. My grandpa obsesses about history like I obsess about marketing. Anyway, I remember him telling me back in the day when I was a kid, he’s like, “Yeah, when you write a book and send it to the publisher, when you get it back from the editor, you won’t even recognize the book, it doesn’t even sound like you anymore.” I remember him saying that and I’m like, that doesn’t make any sense. But then I totally see that. And luckily for me my editors have been really good at, they’ve kept my voice in and for the most part they’re just cleaning up punctuation and things like that, and things that I say, when I’m saying things repetitively. But it’s just funny because there’s some things they keep changing, and I’m like, “I’m not changing that. This part has to stay in the book.” Anyway, so it’s just kind of fun. Anyway, so today’s lesson has nothing to do with what I just talked about. As you may or may not know Clickfunnels is having our 5 year birthday on Monday. So we are making some changes and having some fun things. So we thought well, we need to get people to come on a Facebook live so I can announce these changes. And we thought, we’ll just do a Facebook live, but if we did that, who knows how many people would come on? So we decided, I wanted to make it more of a formal presentation, and there’s some big changes and some updates and some things happening. So I made these, talking about these changes and now we need to get people to show up and be excited for this thing. So how do we stimulate growth and excitement? And it’s fun because I’ve been studying over the last year a lot of P.T. Barnum’s life. And P.T. Barnum, if you haven’t seen the Greatest Showman, the movie is amazing, but if you study P.T. Barnum’s life, he is the king of publicity and shows. In fact, two days before he died, he wrote his own obituary and published it to the newspapers, that he had died and told this whole story. And people messaged, came afterwards like, ‘You’re still alive. Why did you publish your obituary?” and he’s like, “Oh, I thought that the news of my death would help sell tickets to the circus.’ Or something like that. He’s always about creating the buzz and the story and excitement and whatever to be able to sell more tickets, or deliver the message, or whatever the thing might be. So for us we were thinking, how do we cause some noise, get some excitement? Let’s make this not just like, “Hey, Russell’s doing an announcement, you should show up.” Because then no one’s going to show up. Like, we need people to get excited. And what’s happened, it’s been a show. We could write a whole book on what happened. So what happened is initially we’re like, “What if we got people to start rumors? We got people to go post on Facebook, ‘oh did you hear the rumors that CLickfunnels is selling?’ or things are happening.” So we were thinking about that, and it’s not really as good. So instead what we did is when I was in Fiji I recorded a video, and the video if you haven’t seen it yet, it’s on Facebook and YouTube, but it’s me kind of talking about some of these changes. And I’m obviously nervous about it, and I didn’t try to hide that, and I made this very vague, very cryptic announcement. And I talked about what some of the rumors are. Some people have rumors that we’re acquiring a company, some people, some rumors are that we’re selling, we’re going public, or I’m retiring, all these things. And I haven’t been able to tell anyone, but I’m going to tell everyone on Monday. So that’s been kind of the thing. In fact, I think this podcast will probably go live today, so if that’s the case then you know about it now. It’s happening on Monday. So Monday the announcement will happen and I’ll tell you guys about what it is afterwards, and if you’ve been listening to the podcast you have some hints and some updates. One of the big one’s is that this is just one part of a three part announcement. One part we’re announcing right now, one part we’re announcing at Funnel Hacking Live, and one part we’re announcing on my birthday, March 8th. So these are three big, fun, exciting things that are happening. So anyway, the reason why I’m telling you this is because what’s happening has been crazy. I’ve been watching people online meltdown, I’ve been watching people post on their own page, “What’s happening?” People taking bets, like, “I think Clickfunnels is selling. I think this is happening. I think Russell is doing this. I think this.” And everybody is speculating like crazy. And it’s causing all this buzz. And it’s been insane to me because I’ve been getting text messages from all my friends, people I haven’t heard from in a long time. People texting me, “Good luck on the news. Good luck on this. We’re nervous for you, we’re praying for you.” all these things. Today I got in the car to take my kids to school and I pick up these other kids in the neighborhood, and when the kids jumped into the car, again, these are kids that go to school with my kids, the first thing he asked was, “What’s your announcement that’s happening on Monday?” I’m like, “What, what?” and my kids are like, “What dad? What’s happening?” I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, this has gotten all the way to the neighborhood kids. They’re like, ‘Yeah, my parents were talking about it last night for like 30 minutes trying to speculate what they thought was going to happen.” And it’s like, oh my gosh, this is so cool. So I hope you guys are watching this because there is a real announcement that is happening, there are multiple announcements happening over the next couple of months. But we could have easily just gone and told people, “Hey, we’re making an announcement about blah.” But instead we talked about, we’re making an announcement and it’s not these things. And by talking about what’s it not, we didn’t say it’s not about these things, we said that “people are speculating that it’s about these things, but I’ll tell you exactly what it is.” And by saying that and saying what people are speculating, then it caused people to really speculate, and it’s caused all this controversy and all these people talk9ing about it, and it’s just been one of the most organic. fun, cool promotions we’ve ever done. So it’s got my mind thinking, man I don’t want to ever speak or do a Facebook live or do an announcement without this kind of buzz behind it. How do we craft this, how do we choreograph this, how do we create this when we have a new webinar coming out? Or we have a new thing? How do we make it so we get this kind of buzz behind it? Because it causes it, you know, we get people talking about your business and creating speculation and all these things. It’s really, really fascinating. It’s been crazy. And I’m excited to see on the Facebook live Monday how many people actually show up. I don’t think it’s going to be a few, I think it’s going to be insane amounts of people. Just from the amount of people who have texted me personally, people who I haven’t heard from in years, people who are all in the middle of this. The neighbor kids and their parents talking about it, you know online seeing people posting on their own social profiles, and people you know, just causing this controversy and it’s been really fun to watch, and a really interesting marketing lesson. So for you, I’d start looking at your business like what’s an announcement you could make, or you should make? And then how do you cause the buzz behind that? It also makes me think about that for any new webinar I do, or any new announcement, or any new product, or any new whatever, how do you craft that much engagement? Stephen Larsen when I was at his Offermind event, he talked a lot about how a lot of people think it’s just the offer, or just the funnel. It’s like, no, those are parts of it. You have to have an amazing offer, you have to have an amazing funnel, but then it’s like, the campaign you create that causes the buzz that pushes people into that funnel. That’s a whole ‘nother art and science, the art of creating campaigns and creating buzz and doing these kind of things. And it’s interesting, if you watch the people that are great at this, I’ve been watching, as I’ve been writing the book and editing the book and things like that, every once in a while my brain has a lot of pain. So I’m like, I gotta take a 20 minute break on something. So I’ll go and I’ll watch different things, things that are short though. So like, for example, I was watching the Connor McGregor/Khabib fight, which all my UFC fighter friends and wrestlers would know this. But it was this big fight that happened a couple of months ago. So I watched that. But I was watching all the pre-stuff that built up to the fight. It wasn’t just two dudes stepped in a ring and started fighting. It was like, no there’s campaigning, and trash talking, and pre-weigh ins, and the stare down, and trash talking. And then after the match there’s Khabib jumping over the side of the cage, and all these things that caused the drama, it’s all the campaign build up that makes us care about this fight. Because if two people just jumped in a ring and started fighting nobody would care, it’s what’s the campaign ahead of time that creates the buzz and makes people want to know what’s happening. So that’s what I want you guys thinking about with your businesses. It’s like, what are the things I can do? A really good book to read, probably the best book to read on this, Joe Vitale wrote this book called, There’s a Customer Born Every Minute, and it’s the life story of P.T. Barnum, through the lens of how he did his marketing. I sent this two years ago to all of the Two Comma Club X students. I was like, “Read this book, you guys. It is so good.” But P.T. Barnum, like I said, he lived back in the early 1900’s and this is before the internet and everything. So he had to go and create this buzz to get people to come to the show. And again, if you watched the Greatest Showman, you saw a glimpse of it. But if you study his life, especially that book, that book is really good, There’s a Customer Born Every Minute, by Joe Vitale. If you read that book, you’ll see how he created all these things. He called them humbugs. We need to create a humbug, which is like a fake story to cause buzz. And back then they didn’t have FTC, they didn’t have the legal regulations. Most of the stuff that P.T. Barnum did back then would probably be illegal nowadays. But he did these things to create buzz. Stephen Larsen at Offermind was showing, he did this campaign where it was like, I can’t remember what it was, it was like a mermaid-monkey or something. But basically it was like a big fish and a monkey and he took the corpse of it and sewed it together so it looked like it was a monkey mermaid, or something like that. I can’t remember. He put these ads in the newspaper showing the picture of this monkey-mermaid, and it was literally he just took a dead monkey and a dead, huge fish and sewed them together, but used that as publicity to get people to come to the circus and come to his museums, and all these crazy things. So I just want you, I hope you’re watching this campaign. I hope that you’re paying attention. I hope you’re thinking about, what can I do in my business to stimulate growth and controversy and people talking? Because man, this is the best viral, free, organic exposure of anything we’ve ever done. And it all started with a two minute video I filmed in Fiji, telling the story about the rumors people have been throwing around. And if I’m completely honest, there were no rumors. I caused those rumors. So there you go, just for my Marketing Secrets friends, you guys know behind the scenes. I’m the one. There was nobody saying, ‘I wonder if Clickfunnels is getting bought or sold or going public or going, if Russell’s retiring or whatever. None of those things people were saying, but I said, in my video I said, “There’s been whispers of this.” And it was, I was whispering about it with my team. But by putting those things out there, it caused the whispers, it caused the things. Anyway, it’s fun. It’s exciting. I think you guys all are going to enjoy it. So hopefully you’re enjoying the show. Come on Monday, again, depending on when you get this, Monday we’ll be making the first of three big announcements, and they are big announcements, each one progressively bigger. And then there’s one, there’s one thing I can’t tell you guys all yet. Even on these announcements that I’m excited for. But I did buy, just so you know, I bought bootstrap.com, and my next book is going to be called Bootstrap.com and it’s going to be telling the Clickfunnels story. And in that book I’ll be able to tell you the full story. Anyway, there’s reasons I can’t explain it all right now, that will make more sense when you read the book someday. But yeah, that book I’m excited for. It’s going to be my first non-how-to book. It’s going to be just the story, the story of Clickfunnels. How did this come to be? How did all the weird characters meet together to create this thing, and the movement and the ups and the downs and all the stuff? So how many of you guys are pumped for that book? I’m excited. Anyway, with that said, I’m going to bounce. I appreciate you guys all for listening. I hope you have a good day, and if you do get this before Monday, I’ll see you on the Monday announcement. And if you get this later, that’s totally cool, my next podcast episode will probably be recorded, or one of the near future ones will be talking about that and what came from it. So we’ll go from there. Thanks everybody and we’ll talk to you soon.
Today we’re talking about webinars and why webinars can totally suck because in truth, webinars are really sold as this magic thing that’s just going to make everything work. When it all honesty, it’s not really as perfect of an engine as you’ve heard. And it’s really weird because you have heard people like Russell Brunson touting the fact that everybody was in their Inner Circle must create a webinar and you run that webinar every single week until you’ve made $1 million period. Don’t deviate. Don’t automate, do it. That’s what he tells people. But really in all truth, there are things about the Webinar that nobody knows, number one, because you don’t know the stats about a Webinar. And number two, you’ve never really tried to scale a Webinar and there are some serious issues, but if you get it right, it’s still one of the best systems to use. So that’s what we’re talking about today. So about three years ago, this gal had built her business. She was teaching people how to build a staffing business and she was going business to business selling high ticket and doing it, but she was always traveling, never able to be home, and she was like, can’t I scale this? She was doing YouTube but massively and she was like, I should be able to make money with this. How do I make money? And so she looked online and everyone said do the webinar. And so she had decided, okay, but here’s the thing, the secret with her, she didn’t say, I’m going to go learn everything, become a webinar expert. She said, I’m going to go find somebody who knows how to do this stuff. That’s stroke of genius that literally took years off of her learning curve, brought her knocking on my virtual door. I was the guy who’s going to build this funnel for her. And so she gave me all the ideas, everything she wanted, and I said, okay, that’s wonderful, but if we’re going to do this right and you actually want a webinar that’s actually going to work, I needed to take your stuff, I need to adjust. Are you okay with that? And she’s like, yeah. So first thing is with a webinar, in all truth, the first page has to be 100% curiosity based. If you can’t make somebody say, I don’t know what this is and I have to find out you’re not doing a good enough job, everybody wonders why your webinar doesn’t work or why your first page in your funnel doesn’t work. It’s usually curiosity. And if everybody’s webinar, they’re like, this is the way that makes so much money online. Those, and you’re like, oh, I know that. If somebody looked at your headline and says, Oh, I know how to do that. Already done. You’ve just destroyed here. Entire opportunity in order to make your business work, curiosity has to be built in. So we built an awesome curiosity hook. We made sure the page looked spectacular, so that way she looked professional and we hacked what was working already in that niche. And in the webinar space, after we built the Webinar with the ecosystem and all the emails that follow up and the emails and make sure you purchase and everything, we decided to launch. Now when you launch your first Webinar, it’s not going to be perfect and don’t expect perfection. You’re going to fall flat on your face and that’s okay. And when you do launch your Webinar, make sure you’re only promoting it for like two or three days before the Webinar. There’s this statistic out there, I don’t know what it actually is. It just says that we have less of an attention span than a goldfish. I don’t believe that’s exactly true because you’re still here, but at the same time, you know it’s totally possible. So you need to make sure that you’re giving people only a small window because if it’s longer than two or three days, I guarantee you people will forget and they will not come. That is traffic that is wasted. If you’re going to run live, either run it once a week and only advertise in specific spots or run it two to three times a week and just put in the work. And yes, live webinars do far, far better than automated webinars, automated webinars, they sound attractive because you get your life back. But literally listen to Russell Brunson, do it live. So we launched the webinar and as everything goes with a webinar and any funnel, the first week is going to go and it’s just going to fall over. It’s just going to fail. It’s going to be really bad. I don’t know what I’m liking that noise, but I’m doing it a lot. This stuff. Anyways, we launched the funnel and rule number one, when you’re doing a presentation, any presentation, this specifically a Webinar, you have to bring the energy and luckily this gal, she was bringing it and it was working awesome and she got everybody to be out on top of things like everybody was commenting, everyone. She was having a blast with this thing and then we went to the sales pitch and it didn’t quite make it all the way that we wanted, but that was not a failure. Webinars are an awesome machine for testing because literally one week it’s going to suck. The next week you can suck less. The next week after that you suck even less until you make this thing the magic machine. But it’s literally you adjusting until you get there and it takes a lot of energy. It takes a lot of input, but this is the system that can make this work. There’s only one problem. You’re spending paid traffic to a Webinar. It’s inconsistent beyond inconsistent. Now the ways that big gurus get over this, like Steven Larson and Russell Brunson has a lot of their traffic is organic and so organic traffic will continue to convert the way organic traffic does. Paid traffic, ebbs and flows. There’ll be days when it’s super cheap to get it. These words expensive and as you scale your ad spend, it actually gets more expensive to get a registrant and much more expensive to get a sale. How do you actually make this work? Well, this is the issue we came up with this client. We would have these ebbs and flows because a lot of her traffic was paid. We’re doing Facebook ads and we were doing a good job. We were discovering audiences that work. You’re stepping in the right headlines that worked the right images that brought in. Really what it all came down to in truth was how that traffic felt that day. Look, we ain’t got leads for like $3 and 50 cents. We got leads for like a dollar and then we got leads for $12 and this isn’t something that just happened with this client. I’ve seen it with multiple clients and in fact actually took this question and I asked it to a very big guru. I don’t know if I should name drop, I’m going to name drop. His name is Frank Kern. I’m in his inner circle. Trillium is a good program, honestly. So I’m on a call and he says, literally, yeah, this just kind of the way the Webinar goes. And I was like, nobody told me that. Everybody said, you’ll put in a dollar, you’ll make three years stale. Nobody said, well, it ebbs and flows and yeah, it definitely gets more expensive as you start to increase your ad spend. Nobody said that, and nobody will tell you that. Nobody will tell you. And that’s what sucks. But once you get your webinar converting, it shouldn’t be an issue. Once you get your webinar working and you actually get this conversion rate down, you bring the energy, you have the curiosity, you have all these systems moving and all the pieces working right on the automation side, on the backend to be able to get money as fast as possible. And then close the sale. You should be closing about 10 to 15% of people on the backend. That is $1 million webinar waiting to happen. That’s like, let’s make this thing magic. With that percentage rate, you can take on $12 registrants and they will be more interested in your product. So that’s not that big of an issue, but costs will go up and they will ebb and flow. It’s not going to be perfect every single week. One week you’ll put in $5 and make 15 one week you’ll put in $5 and make two and you know what? It’s got nothing to do with you. It’s the way traffic works. And if you’re doing just paid traffic, that’s the name of the game. So how do you get over this? Well, we actually talked about it before. We make sure that we do other types of traffic. Other options are number one, you want JV. If you can bring in somebody that already understands your topic and it’s like I have an audience that would love to do that, the audience is going to convert better than paid ads guaranteed. I love that. Strategy number two, make sure that you build it out so it’s SEO powerful. Now if you have a blog or a YouTube channel, make sure you put the link everywhere so that way you get some organic traffic moving towards this webinar towards this machine that you are building. Make sure you’re driving as much traffic as you can outside of paid ads, so if organic is a machine and organic can work if you do it right and they can be pretty warm too. The last thing that you can do is start to build out your list and keep inviting your list. Build your list with other paid media first and then bring them into the Webinar. This is where .com secrets, Russell Brunson’s book actually makes sense because instead of promoting the webinar where it’s going to is going to ebb and flow and go kinda crazy. He promoted a book and he made a book funnel and that self liquidated everybody who then went there. So I’ve put in a dollar, I got a dollar in on the book funnel. That’s $1 million funnel. I’m gonna scale that. Why? Because I can then take them and push them to the Webinar. And if only a small smidgen of a percentage actually work there, my business is exploding. So number one, definitely looking to doing a JV. Do a dream 100 start listing out the people that you want to work with in your niche and start reaching out, seeing how you can give them value. Put them on a podcast, on a YouTube channel, whatever you’re doing, promote them and help their following and you will suddenly become somebody they want to connect with it works. Number two, make this an SEO engine. Make sure your link is all over the place. Put It on YouTube, put it on your blog. Put it on your website, make sure that there is a way for organic traffic to come in cause organic traffic is much more consistent. But the way to really build this like a king and a queen is to get a self-liquidating funnel at the beginning. Now the self liquidating offer funnel where you liquidate your ad costs, that’s what I like to call it, which is like a book funnel or a product funnels. I’m like that where it’s low ticket at the beginning and you have upsells and down sales, that type of a funnel, it’s really hard to get working right? It’s kind of complicated, so I highly recommend you do number one and number two, but once you start to do those out and you’re like, okay, I got this, that’s when you go to step number three. So again, just to recap, webinars are one of the best ways for you to scale your business. It still is. It worked for this Gal and we scaled it and it worked. It was inconsistent, but it can work. You just have to know the secrets of a Webinar to be absolutely honest, which include number one, keep the curiosity high. Number two, don’t let people wait longer than two or three days to hop on the Webinar. Number three, present with energy and number four, make sure that you have an entire ecosystem built around this so that way you keep following up on customers all the way through the process and it’s not a one touch and done otherwise. Your webinars are gonna work. Your funnel isn’t going to work. There needs to be that ecosystem. That’s the biggest issue with Webinar funnels when you start to scale with Facebook ads. Guys, I’m grateful that you were on. Thank you so very much. Now you have a question or is this something still on your mind? Did I not cover something that you wanted covered? The next couple of episodes are going to be kind of Webinar focused. I want to talk about the client’s stories where we actually built a Webinar. Eventually we’ll get into other types of, we want to talk about the Webinar first cause this is the presentation funnel. The webinar is one of the best ways to actually start to scale your business. There’s a lot of reasons why Steven Larson just connected as high ticket offer, lab offer into presentation funnels or Webinars, and why Russell Brunson still says build a Webinar, scale it to a million duet live. It still works.
RIGHT NOW, as of recording this, I still have people auto-joining my downline. I'm still having people auto-buy my products! It’s not a showboating thing… I just want you to know that the things I teach you guys on this channel are REAL. If you’re in the program, Secret MLM Hacks, it's cool to watch you BLOW IT UP! It's been awesome. MLM SALES FUNNEL AUTOMATION Routinely, we'll get people who have BIG downlines, who are trying to find another program to sell another product… And they'll come join and it gets BIGGER and BIGGER. **IT WORKS** It works because: I’m doing this podcast Of the automation that I put in - Which is the funnels. This might not be that fast of an episode… Usually, every time I say that it's a bit longer! But you have to understand… I've had a few people reach out since I've started doing this stuff here, and they'll be like, "Stephen, my MLM will not let me do MLM funnels." And I understand what they mean… But I just need to tell you guys something real quick. If you have sold anything EVER, you used a sales funnel. WHO INVENTED THE MLM FUNNEL? What we have to understand is this whole concept of the MLM funnel... ClickFunnels DID NOT invent sales funnels. The first sales funnel that ever happened was when a caveman traded a rock for a fish with another caveman. An MLM funnel is nothing more than a sales message and an offer, THAT’S IT! Sales message Offer So, when you think about what it is that your MLM has allowed you to do… You have a SCRIPT, which is a sales message. And you have an OFFER. = You have an MLM FUNNEL. The only reason why the things that I do work so well is because most of the time, people don't build their MLM funnel with very much intent. They don't do it on PURPOSE. And because they don't do it on purpose… It doesn't work very well. Any "a-has" on that? USING A SOCIAL MEDIA FUNNEL FOR EVENTS I just finished an event here in Boise called OfferMind, it's my event. You might have even come to it, which is awesome. We had 600 people come We did about 1.9 million in sales from the stage …. It was awesome! QUESTION: Guess what I used? ANSWER: A sales funnel. "But Stephen, you were on stage." It was a sales message and an offer, therefore, it was a sales FUNNEL. I was the sales funnel, you understand? What I was doing there was super powerful and it was still a sales funnel. It's sooo much better when you can take what your MLM has given you and find a way to automate the sales message and the offer. Does that make sense? FOLLOW THE MLM FUNNEL RULES The only reason I'm doing this is that I want you to know, if your MLM has said, "You're not allowed to use an MLM funnel," you already are. When an MLM is like, "Hey, you can't do that." First of all, follow the rules. This is NOT a game to try and break the rules with. That's NOT what I'm doing. I'm not encouraging you to do that. I don't do that. But you have to understand that going on Facebook Live and telling the story of how you first started using your company's product, THAT’S a sales message. Funny enough… They're okay with you doing a social media funnel in that way. BUT the moment you put it on a page that you own, they kinda freak out. I'm just trying to help you understand that an MLM funnel is broader and BIGGER than most people think it is. It is not just these ClickFunnels sales funnels. That's a method. HOW TO BUILD A SOCIAL MEDIA FUNNEL I just wanted to walk you through a very simple way to build a social media funnel that helps build belief in people who might be doubting whether or not you should do this in your MLM. So many guys might be like, "Hey, Stephen, my MLM won't let me do this," and I totally get it. In fact, several people reached out and they'd be like, "My MLM won't let me use a social media funnel." And I'm like, "You already are." I'm like, "How many people do you have in your downline?" They'll be like, "I have several hundred people in my downline, and we do... I make 10 to 20 grand a month." And I'm like, "Cool, you already are using a social media funnel." You're already using one, otherwise, you wouldn't have all that stuff. If you sold anything EVER to anyone, at any price, whether it was free or paid, it was with a sales funnel. There's a sales message and an offer, which is all an MLM funnel is. The fact we put it on pages is a method. PROVE THAT SOCIAL MEDIA FUNNELS WORK Look at it that way, and start thinking through, “Okay, well, if that's what a social media funnel is, how can I create a social media funnel?" One of the easiest ways to prove the fact that you're using an MLM funnel is… Let's say that you have somebody in your upline or corporate HQ (something like that), and they're like, "You know what? You can't use a social media funnel. You know what? We don't want you to do these things with it." One of the easiest ways you can prove the concept of internet sales funnels works is by using Facebook. PLEASE keep to the rules. I'm NOT telling you to ride the line. All I'm saying is that most MLMs are okay with you going on social media and talking about the product. That's actually the beginning of any sales funnel. THE BEGINNING OF AN MLM FUNNEL There are TWO things you can do on Facebook (or any social media platform) 'cause usually, they're okay with that. A lot of them DON’T want you to say the name of the MLM and that's okay, Play by the rules. I do. That's why I've been able to pull it off. DON’T try to find sneaky ways, don't try to ride the line. All I do is tell the story of when I first started using my MLMs product. Think back to the day when that started happening for you. I asked somebody that once, and they're like, "Well, the reason I use the product is that it has the purest ingredients. I needed the best form of ingredients because I wanna be the best human being I can be." And I was like, "Barf, barf, barf." That is NOT what I'm talking about. Why did you make the decision to start using the product you're using? You gotta go back. We call it the epiphany bridge. What gave you the epiphany, "Oh my gosh, I need to be using that product"? It was NOT ingredients. It's usually something that's going on in your life. The MLM product that I use… I'm not gonna tell you the name of it, 'cause I keep it very third-party. I don't want you guys to think I'm selling you. I'm trying to change the industry as a whole. THE STORY BEHIND YOUR MLM FUNNEL On my dad's side, pretty much every guy has or is at EXTREME risk of type 2 diabetes and extremely high blood pressure. And then, pretty much every guy on my mom's side, have had prostate cancer. So I'm like, "Well, that sucks. What does that mean for me?" I take that very seriously, 'cause I'm like, "Shoot, son, I don't want any of that crap." I remember once, watching my dad go through some surgery. He's generally a healthy guy, but that wasn't good enough. He needed an extra level of intensity on his health 'cause it's still in our DNA. I remember sitting there, looking at him, and I was thinking. I was like, "How can I avoid this? I don't wanna do that. How do I avoid that?" In high school, I was 35% body fat. I had a double chin, I was working on a triple, I was a big boy and I was getting picked on like crazy. And I remember I was walking down the hall… Outwardly, you might have seen that I was a happy kid. I was a super nice boy. But on the inside, I was kind of this train wreck. I remember this moment where I was like, "Enough. I'm tired of being big. I wanna lose weight." And I lifted every day for the next nine months, I lost 45 pounds, I grew six inches. I went from 35% body fat down to 6% body fat. So low that it's actually 1% away from considered unhealthy. As I started growing up, and I kinda kept this habit going. I started competing in sprint triathlons and I got third in the 11th Colorado Sprint Triathlon for my age group, which was pretty awesome. SOCIAL MEDIA FUNNEL STORIES Do you see what I'm saying? I'm telling a story. What I would do if I were you is lead that up to whatever product you're selling. You have a story behind why you're using what you're using. It has NOTHING to do with the ingredients. That's not why anyone buys anything. They buy the story, not the product. Half the reason why people buy from you is that you inadvertently have told some stories about the product itself. QUESTION: You wanna make a social media funnel using Facebook? Here's how you do it. Tell the story of how you came to use the products you're using right now in MLM. What is that story? There was a story, not a feature. There's something in your past and there was a moment where you're like, "I don't want this," or, "I do want that" . Whatever that might be, tell that story. What happens in the customer's mind is, you begin to open up a gap where they sit back, and they go, "You know what? Things are not as I thought they were." It's really powerful. What happens is, you open this gap up where there's this window of belief, and they go, "I'm starting to feel open." They're not gonna say that, but that's what's going on inside their brain, psychology-wise. "I'm starting to feel like there's a possibility this could actually work for me." That's the magic of where sale happens. That's the magic of when you finally start talking about your offer, where they go, "I can see myself doing this, why don't I just try it?" That's the magic. MLM FUNNEL + SOCIAL MEDIA FUNNEL If you wanna make a social media funnel using Facebook... It's still an MLM funnel. You tell the story of how you started using the product, and then you’re like, "Hey if you're interested, please reach out, and I'd love to give you a free sample of X, Y and Z." DISCLAIMER: I don't know what you sell, so customize that to whatever it is you're doing. But do you see how you just made a sales message and an offer? A sales message is just a story. Tell a story Deliver and showed the offer to them Give a little call-to-action. "Hey, reach on out." That is one of the easiest ways to leverage any platform with a social media funnel. That is an MLM funnel. It's more powerful if you can customize the page the video is on and put testimonials on there. To the degree, you're allowed to… You can add: Some scarcity and urgency A few other stories Maybe you can have the formulator come on in and tell a little bit about it. ... You see what I'm saying? Follow the rules. I'm NOT telling you to go be sneaky or whatever. I'm just telling you that an MLM funnel is broader than most people believe that it is. That's good news, 'cause if you're like, "Oh well, I don't know that I can use this whole social media funnel thing that Stephen talks about." You already are! Just do it with a little more intent, automate it and then automate the follow-up. That's one of the easiest ways to make money. STAGE SELLING WITH A SALES FUNNEL We sold a lot of money on stage two weeks ago. QUESTION: What are we doing these last two weeks? ANSWER: Following up. I am over-communicating with my buyers. I'm saying to them, "Hey, how are you doing? What are your goals? What is it do you wanna do? Let's jump on a phone call." Do you see what I'm saying? You can automate that (and we certainly will in the future). Understand that you're already using a sales funnel, and that's one of the easiest ways to make money. If you're like, "Does this whole social media funnel thing really work?" I dare you to put it to the test. Go tell the story of how you started using your product on social media. PLEASE don't do the thing where you're like, "Working from home today." Snapshot selfie, selfie, selfie, on Instagram. THAT’S DUMB. Instead, tell the story about how you started using it and say, "If anyone's interested in a free sample, this is not meant to be high pressure, I just wanna share with whoever is interested." Tell me you don't get some sales from that. Storytelling is an art and science of and in of itself. That takes practice. But just go do it. That's how I started this show. YOU’RE ALREADY USING AN MLM FUNNEL Just start telling the stories, and get good at telling the stories. When you do it that way, it's super exciting what happens. You'll actually find that people are excited to buy from you. You know that when you go sell something to somebody, and you walk away feeling like you convinced them? You know what I'm talking about. If you don't wanna feel that when you're selling to people, the answer is to get good at storytelling. Then it makes your offer feel like a gift. Otherwise, it feels like you're convincing them… "Better hurry. Buy one, get one free by tonight. Better hurry, it's half off before this time." And then they're like... AGHHHH! They drag their feet in… They know they want it (but they kinda don't) because you kinda pushed them and there's some convincing along the way. The only reason that happens is that they weren't sold, they were convinced. People like to be sold… They don't like to be convinced. The whole point of this is to bring awareness to the fact that you already have an MLM funnel. Start thinking through, design and purposefully plan your story. Purposefully plan the offer that you're gonna drop to them. If you're serious about this and you wanna take this to a really cool level, go get the Secret MLM Hacks Program 'cause it's awesome, and that's exactly what we're talking about. Last week I was in Boise, Idaho attending a conference called ‘Offermind'. It was primarily about marketing and how to create an irresistible offer, but there were lots of golden nuggets that applied to speaking too! As you may know I coach and consult on marketing and speaking with a specific focus on storytelling and humour. That's because I believe that the two are so closely linked AND as well as educating and motivating your audience speaking is also one of the best ways to market and sell your products and services. All of the speakers who were on stage at the conference were amazing and I was particularly chuffed to be able to see one of my marketing heroes in action. This guy is also one of the highest paid speakers in the world, so when he talks, I listen. He gave away many value bombs during his keynote including the one I'm going to be sharing with you today! Enjoy! What this episode covers: Why frameworks are important How to make your audience engage with the framework before you even share it with them How the same teaching framework will enable you to flex your talk to fill five minutes or five hours! When you should stay at the strategy level and why. The one thing you should always do with your framework to get your audience motivated to implement what you're sharing. Thanks for listening! Today I wanna talk about mainstream MLM advice. This is gonna be a fun episode ;) I went on Google and I googled… How do you win an MLM Top MLM strategies today … Stuff like that. I grabbed a whole bunch of blogs and I started power reading through them and finding ALL the advice they were giving. A lot of them were like, "The Top 10 Steps To Be a Top MLMer", and stuff like that. So I was like looking at the TOP 10 steps or the TOP 3 strategies or whatever. As I was looking through all of them… Some of them just made me flat out laugh. So what I’m gonna do is walk through them here… Just in case somebody's wondering if I'm throwing rocks… I AM. https://youtu.be/msZgv8szCEg The purpose of it is because, a lot of people who follow this show and have been consuming my stuff or have been in Secret MLM Hacks and then become a student… What's interesting is a lot of people will be like, "How have I never known this?" Look at the information that you have available to you. Please don't feel guilty. Don't feel weird. I'm here to help justify that. One of the reasons I started doing this is because I started looking to see what kind of information the MLM world has available. A: Not much. I was like, "Well I could probably make quite a splash" and we are. So I'm gonna walk through some of these so-called ‘Top Tips’ that I compiled. MLM ADVICE #1 One of the first things that people say will cause success is that you need to find a company with a product you LOVE. I love my iPhone… But I have never in my life had this iPhone put money in my pocket. How much you love your product has NOTHING to do with your ability to actually make it sell. Nothing. It has ZERO to do with how well it sells. Nothing at all. Have you ever walked out in a room and said, "I love this product, it's just so awesome," and your true passion is what sells it? You can get sales like that… But it’s not very likely, and usually, they don't stick very long. Passion does not equal profits. When I was in college and we were talking about the entrepreneurial space a lot. I took A LOT of entrepreneurship classes and they would say things like, "You need to be passionate about what you do." Now I understand that in the long term you should feel passion around it because it gets challenging and not much else will pull you through… But passion is not a sales strategy. Passion is not a marketing strategy. You're NOT gonna get money just because you love the thing that much. THAT was the #1 piece of MLM advice. You have to find a company that you love the product… Or you could just make an effort to share your business and product every day. Or just build a funnel and it'll pitch every moment instead of every day. Set a goal. In the last month, we had 3,000 people hit one of my new funnels. That's 100 people a day. Physically, I wouldn't be able to keep up with that. You can bend time with funnels. MLM ADVICE #2 Now, these are some good ones… Identify your target market. At first, I was like, "Sweet," but then I kept reading and it was like, for example, "Do you only want friends and family or do you want people outside of friends and family?" And I was like, "Crap, that started so well." MLM ADVICE #3 Another good one was to listen and then sell the solution. I actually wholeheartedly agree with that. Listen to people and sell the solution. I wish they had talked more about storytelling though. MLM ADVICE #4 Learn how to market. That was a good one, but then when it said to learn how to market, it was like, "Create a big list." I was like, "NO" MLM ADVICE #5 Figure out how to stand out from other distributors. I really agree with that piece of MLM advice. Figure out how to stand out from other distributors. You know what's funny is, I actually learned this as a door-to-door sales guy. I was knocking on doors and it was sooo hot. I was doing door-to-door sales selling pest control six years ago. It was the middle of the summer and it was sooo hot. So one day I went over to McDonald's just to stand in the AC and funny enough, half the other sales guys were in there also trying to cool off. We were all sitting there in this McDonald's just sucking up their AC for a little bit when this guy walks up and he goes, "Hey, I need your services. When can you come by?" Since we were a group of salesmen, we were all looking at each other wondering who's gonna take the sale. "No, no, you take it. No, no, you take it. You take it," until suddenly our boss pointed at somebody and they got the lucky laydown sale. That experience didn't leave me. We walked away and I started thinking about it. It didn't matter who that guy chose. We ALL sell the same thing with the same product, with the same fulfillment. We had the same trucks, we had the same uniforms, we had the same pitch, we had the same cheesy jokes at the same points in the same pitch. It did not matter to that guy who he bought from. Now tell me how that's different from MLM distributors? We all sell the same product with the same pitch, with the same scripts, with the same stupid jokes, with the same methods. THIS is what I realized walking away from that McDonald's that day… The other salesmen are actually my competition. But they were also my friends and family. Funny enough, I grew up with a good percentage of the people who were selling pest control with me that summer. Your upline and your downline is your competition. Finding out how to stand out from other distributors was an amazing piece of MLM advice. I wholeheartedly agree with that and that is what Secret MLM Hacks teaches. MLM ADVICE #6 Another great one was to develop a system for follow-up. I was like YES, absolutely. If you heard my last episode, I just talked about that. You need a system for follow-up. It's typically where you'll make most of your money, both in selling products and recruiting. MLM ADVICE #7 Here are some other weird bits of MLM advice that I don't agree with at all… Lead with the product, not the biz. Some people are looking for the business. I actually started that way. I don't lead with the product right now. But I know that I'll move that way at some point, but we just passed 1800 people asking to join my downline, who I've never met. And I'm leading with the business first, then the product. That's not a set-in-stone thing that that person is talking about. MLM ADVICE # I think this one actually from entrepreneur.com. I think it was the second piece of advice… Bullet point number two on “How to be successful in MLM”. Take massive action. THAT was the strategy. The strategy was MASSIVE action. What don't you have to do that on? Are you serious? That's the big secret? MLM ADVICE #9 This next one I heard when I was at an event. Everyone there was super excited like, “We can't wait till this guy shows up. He's gonna drop some amazing stuff on you about how he's been able to blow up so big," I was actually with Colton and the time comes… The guy stands up, and he goes, "Guys, here's the big secret on how I've grown my downline so big. When I'm at a restaurant," And everyone starts writing, "R-E-S-T-A-U-R-A-N-T" “When I'm at a restaurant and I see somebody eating alone, I sit down at the table." … And I was waiting… But that was the strategy. Like what kind of hot garbage? Are you serious? MLM ADVICE #10 Here’s another piece of MLM advice that I heard from a huge, famous blogger in MLM space… One of his favorite strategies is to leave business cards on windshields. I was like, "That's your strategy?" No wonder my stuff looks so crazy! MLM ADVICE #11 Another bit of MLM advice was to become a life coach. I don't want to become a life coach. I'm building a business, I'm building an asset, I'm building something that's actually sustainable. I am NOT recruiting anything that has a heartbeat. If I start recruiting people who need the opportunity, I am required to become a life coach. If I start recruiting people who are dying for the opportunity and are begging to be in my downline… They're messaging me, they're the ones that reach back out over Messenger saying, "Hey, let me in." Guess who I don't have to become a life coach for? That person. It's not that I'm NOT willing to help… But if I have to be a life coach for thousands of people, that is not a duplicatable thing. I remember one guy in one of the first MLMs I was a part of. He was like, "This is a passive asset." I was like, "Dude, you're working 80 hours a week. There's nothing passive about it." He was making a lot of money. He was making a good chunk of change every month. He's like, "Yeah, but it's passive." I was like, "There's nothing passive about the way you're doing it, man." It is because of the types of individuals he's bringing in. Not to judge Not to compare I’m not saying anyone's better than anybody else … But some people are just in a better spot in life to take action than others. We all know that's true. MLM ADVICE #12 Here's some great piece of MLM advice. Somebody was like, "You should get on YouTube. You should have a newsletter." YES. "You should blog." … But then they botched it. Having a newsletter Being a podcaster Being a YouTuber A blogger … The reason that's so powerful is that it extends your reach. It creates more noise. It helps people say, "Oh my gosh, have you seen this guy?" I will never, in my entire life ever have to do this episode again. By the time I die, there will probably be tens of thousands of people who have heard this episode. That's the whole point. I'm bending time, baby. That's why publishing's such a big deal. Q: You wanna attract people to you? A: Start something like this. This is one of the easiest ways to do it. You don't even need to have a great offer or a great business, and you'll recruit more people. Make more noise and more people will see you. I publish a lot. I'm very, very, very cutting. MLM ADVICE #13 The next bit of MLM advice: Evaluate the higher-ups. And I was like, "Yeah, totally evaluate the higher-ups." If you wanna see how to have success with what kind of company you're trying to be, definitely evaluate the higher-ups. And he was like, "Are they as committed to your success as you are?” I was like, "No. I'm not responsible for anybody's success." I'm gonna help: Answer questions Solve problems … But the best way for me to be successful is to focus on my success. That's one of the greatest fallacies of the MLM space: You'll get more successful the more people you recruit. The best way for you to be successful is for you to focus on YOU, and make you better. Are they as committed to your success as you are? That's like saying in a marriage that you're gonna focus on changing the other person. If YOU get better, you start healing the relationship a lot faster. That's why I'm so focused on who I want and don't. I require input. I require effort from those I recruit. This isn’t an offer, it is a relationship. For me to say I'm as committed to your success as I am mine… I understand the warm fuzzies it brings, but in my very strong opinion, that is a fallacy that has you recruit people that are probably not a good fit. STEVE LARSEN TOP MLM STRATEGIES Here's what I do believe you should go and evaluate opportunities on. If you're trying to find… A company to go join The success strategies … One of the things that you have to evaluate a company or opportunity on is your ability to market it. Not sell it, market it. How can you rank the product? Can you rank your ability to bring it to market? You can have all the passion in the world but not have a freaking clue how to market, and you're not gonna make any money. It could be the exact opposite. You could have lots of ability to market and have no passion BUT you'll make a lot of money. You need to have a strategy before you join ANY opportunity. How will you market that product? And if you don't know what marketing is... Marketing is how you get people to your face. Sales is what happens when they're in front of your face. My definition of marketing: Marketing is changing somebody's beliefs and prepping them so they can buy. Sales is presenting the offer and overcoming objections. That's what they are. And if you don't have a plan on how you're gonna get more leads, you're gonna die. Q: What does every business need more of, always? A: Cash flow and leads. You have got to have a strategy put in place for those. HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN MLM Next thing, I would evaluate companies and opportunities based on their ability to fulfill. I don't wanna spend all this time putting a marketing strategy together and executing it if the company has a hard time fulfilling. If they can't box up the thing and ship it, I don't care how good I can market, I'm gonna have a lot of people who are mad. I wanna evaluate a company and an opportunity based on how well I'm paid. If I'm not allowed to market a product that has an incredible compensation plan on the internet, I'm still gonna make no money. If I have not as amazing a comp plan but I am allowed to… Put this thing on the internet Say the name Create my own front ends Create funnels Make things that attract people to me … I'm gonna make a ton of money regardless of how amazing or not amazing the comp plan is. The whole point of this is that cash is the byproduct of marketing and marketing alone. Cash is the byproduct of marketing. LEARN HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN MLM DON’T MAKE A… Business card Logo Slogan Cute saying Facebook group that has some alliteration about you being some kind of successful MLM thing The only thing you need to focus on is sustainable marketing strategies. That's why I can walk into any company and help them increase their sales. I know what causes cash. When I walk into any business, including MLM, it's the same stuff. To be an entrepreneur is to be a problem solver. To be an entrepreneur is to know what the marketing strategy is that sells your thing. If you don't know what that is, that's likely the reason why you might not be where you wanna be right now. I largely automated most of my businesses… I'm not taking massive action in certain things anymore. It's because I have systems. Find a company with a product you love. It helps, but it's not required. Identify your target market. YES Listen and then sell the solution. YES Learn how to market. YES 100% Figure out how to stand out from other distributors. YES Develop a system for follow-up. YES, absolutely. Lead with the product, not the biz. That depends, this is not set in stone Take massive action. Not necessarily… I don’t. Sit next to lonely people in restaurants. NO. Leave business cards on windshields. Are you kidding me?! Become a life coach. I don’t wanna be a life coach! Publish. YES! Publish, publish, publish! Evaluate the higher-ups. YES HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN MLM WITH SECRET MLM HACKS Probably the biggest question I get is: “Steve, how are you using the internet for your personal MLM today?” To be clear, I am, but it's HOW that matters, and it's HOW that you're probably interested in.
Offermind 2019... Holy crap. Amazing. On this episode I give you a peek inside my Offermind notes, some of my favorite quotes/big take-aways... And I give a super simple framework for how to get the most out of any live event.
I was blessed to have the opportunity to get coached one-on-one by the phenomenally successful Steven Larsen, founder of Offermind and many multi-million dollar funnels, as well as the popular podcast Sales Funnel Radio. He is also the former funnel builder for Russell Brunson, owner of Clickfunnels. Today I’ll be sharing the experience I had with him, and what he taught me about SUCCESS....

A lot of business owners and entrepreneurs think that their ‘offer’ is the product or service that they sell, but it’s not. At its heart, an offer is your core product or service plus added value. The aim of your offer is to create a compelling proposition for your customer, where the perceived value of what you’re offering is much higher than the price that they pay. Putting together the right offer for your target customer is one of the biggest factors that influences their decision to buy. In this show, I’m going to be sharing my biggest takeaways from Offermind, a two-day event designed to help entrepreneurs and business owners master this critical aspect of marketing. The event featured some of the biggest names in business today and I was very fortunate to be able to go. There was a lot of gold shared at this event and I took copious notes so that I could share the goods with you. Enjoy! What I’m going to cover: The definition of a dream customer Why you should choose a position in relation to the category king in your market The three different ways you can add value to your core product or service Why people hate to be convinced Thanks for listening! We bring the energy, We are a sum of our offers, we get to create environments for A-HA moments.
Steven J Larsen dropped some massive value this weekend and here are some take away nuggets about the idea of resourcefulness
Everyone’s been begging me for a glimpse of Traffic Secrets, and while I can’t show you the book, I will give you a sneak peek. On today’s episode Russell gives an interesting sneak peek into his Traffic Secrets book which he is in the process of finishing. Look for these awesome things in this episode: What he has been doing over the last few days to finish the first draft of the book. What his plans for the cover to look like are. What each section of the book will be about and when it will finally be out for everyone to read. So listen here to get an amazing sneak peek into Russell’s new upcoming book, Traffic Secrets. ---Transcript--- What’s up everybody? This is Russell Brunson, welcome back to the Marketing Secrets podcast. Can you tell which car I’m in today? You can probably tell, it’s pretty quiet. When it’s the jeep you really, really know, when it’s the Tesla you’re just assuming I’m either just hanging out or I’m in the Tesla. So we’re in the Tesla heading downtown. It is the last day of writing the Traffic Secrets book and I got a few minutes to share with you guys some thoughts about some things I want to talk about. So with that said, let’s queue up the theme song and I’ll be right back. Alright everybody, I hope you guys are all doing awesome today. As I mentioned in the intro I’m in the Tesla right now driving downtown. And today before I am allowed to go to bed today, the manuscript, the first manuscript for the Traffic Secrets book will be finished, which I’m really excited for. It’s supposed to be done on Monday, and then it became, it was going to be Tuesday and then Wednesday and then Thursday, and today is Friday, so it is getting done. And then my wife and kids are heading downtown to Utah this weekend, which I am very grateful for. I wish I could be with them, but I needed, oh I needed the extra time. I am killing myself to get the book, like I said the manuscript will be done tonight and then tomorrow or tonight hopefully I’ll start at the very top and doing a read through and start going through editing stuff, tweaking stuff. I’ve had about 5 or 6 people that have been going through and reading it and then leaving comments on this site inside Google docs, leaving comments of like, “What about this? Or this? And this made no sense. This was awesome. Do you have any more context here, or do you have any story to light this concept up?” So they’ve been going through, following behind me doing all that kind of stuff. I also have Joy Anderson on my team who has been going through doing editing. So it’s been edited an cleaned up, formatted and stuff like that. So that’s kind of a, we call that a line edit, then there’s a concept edit. So we have 4 or 5 people going through doing concept editing and adding their remarks in. So now tonight or tomorrow I will start at the very top and I will do my last edit, which is me taking the concept edits, weaving them in, deleting them, adding or taking away, whatever I need to do to make sure that all those things work good. And then at that point, Joy will follow with one more line edit, and then we’ll submit section one to the publisher on Monday, and then sections 2 and 3 on next Friday. So it is the end of the time. No more procrastination is allowed. I have, it’s done, it’s game time. The other crazy thing, if you look at the Dotcom Secrets book, it was 58,000 words. The Expert Secrets was 60,000 and the Traffic Secrets book as of today is 87,000 words. And it will probably end up close to 90,000 when all is said and done. So it’s 50% bigger than the Expert Secrets book, which is crazy and I hope my publisher doesn’t kill me, because they told me to write a 250 page book. But I didn’t listen because I had to write until it was done. It’s funny because people are like, “Well how long is the book going to be? How many pages?” I’m like, “I don’t know. It’s going to be as many pages as it needs to be to explain the concept.” That’s just how it works. It’s why some people, I drive them crazy at our live events. They’re like, “We need a schedule.” I’m like, “Nah, we don’t do that.” “Why not.” “Because I have no idea how long it’s going to take me to teach the session. I’m going to teach until I’m done.” When I’m coming to sell, I know I got 90 minutes, everything is timed out second by second by second, everything I’m going to say, but if I’m coming to teach, I’m teaching until everybody gets it. And sometimes we’re going to go late, sometimes we’re going to get done early. So it’s just going to be as long as it needs to be. That’s how I feel with this book. And then what’s crazy is some of you guys saw the Mastermind.com launch, the top ten affiliates for that are going to Fiji in like a week and a day, whatever that is. So Collette and I are jumping on a plane and flying to Fiji, which is I don’t know, hopefully it’s a long international flight because I’m also re-writing the Dotcom Secrets and Expert Secrets books over the next two months. So I’m trying to get the Dotcom Secrets re-writes done while I’m on the plane. I write on really long planes. So writing it on the plane to Fiji and on the plane back getting Dotcom Secrets re-writes done, which will probably add an extra 20,000 words. I’ve got some cool sections I want to add in there that I think are foundation, essential foundational things that I want to add into Dotcom Secrets, and the same with Expert Secrets. We’ve got some cool updates and additions and things that I think would be really powerful to have in there. So we’re doing that, and then I’ll give, I bought the rights back from those two books from my original publisher, and I’m giving them, or selling them, however that works, to the new publisher. So we’ll have all three books. At Funnel Hacking Live, my goal is to have a box set on stage for everyone to see. I’m not sure if it’ll be done in time, but that’s the goal. We’ll see. And then the actual launch-launch date is cinco de mayo, which is long and far away. But with a legit publisher they make you do things out in the distance, which is why I’m scrambling now so I can have the book by May 5th. But it’s good. The other thing we’re doing is, if you’ve seen the Dotcom Secrets book, we filmed, Brandon Fisher and I did this really cool thing where we spent 6 hours to film literally 7 seconds of video where I’m in front of this wall, there’s all this stuff taped to the wall, and the camera zooms in, it turned out so cool. And then that became the cover shot for the Dotcom Secrets book. And the Expert Secrets book was just a picture of me onstage. I think I’m going to change that for the new updated version. And then for this book, it’s Traffic Secrets, and I need an image for that. So while I’m at the penthouse this weekend, we are staging this huge shot where it’s going to be me overlooking Boise with these three monitors with all these traffic graphs on it, and we’re getting a crane and a camera to fly in and do all these crazy things at night overlooking the city. It’s going to be so cool. So that’s also happening so I’ll have the cover shot done hopefully by this weekend as well. So yeah, a lot of fun things are all happening and I’m excited and pumped and I cannot wait. But also me telling a story about the book, which I’m sure you guys are fascinated by. I wanted to give you some value as well, and kind of give you a glimpse inside of the book, if you guys are okay with that. I’ll probably do more of that over the next few months, just kind of share different ideas and concepts. But it’s interesting, as I wrote the book, there’s three sections. Section number one is really me laying out the foundation for everything else. So it’s, and you guys are obviously more advanced than the typical reader, because you’ve been listening to me for the last, you know, 600 whatever plus episodes hopefully. Bt it’s really the foundation of like, who is your dream customer, where are those people congregating, and hten who are the people that have already pre-congregated? Who’s your dream 100, right? So we figured that out and so that’s the whole first section. And then teaching the traffic that you, excuse me. So you have your dream 100 and then it’s like, now do I earn my way into that traffic, and how do I buy my way in? So you’re earning your way and getting free traffic, you’re buying your way and doing paid ads, and then you convert all that traffic into traffic you’ve earned, traffic you control and traffic you own, which is your own email list right. Then you have an email list, how to do follow up funnels, how to follow up, all that kind of stuff. So that’s the core foundation, section one teaches that. And again, I think a lot of you guys know those things. I go into a lot more depth and detail, but that’s the core things. Who’s your dream customer, where are they congregating, who’s already congregated them? Those are your dream 100. And then how do we work our way into the dream 100? How do we buy our way into the Dream 100 after we’ve done that. And now, we convert that traffic from traffic we’ve earned and traffic we bought into traffic we own. Boom, now we have a list, here’s how we follow up with that list, and boom, now we move into section number two. So section number two of the book is called Funnel Hacking: The Algorithms. And it starts going into, “Okay, how do we funnel hack Facebook and Instagram and Google and YouTube, and podcasting. And I just showed 5 networks. The two biggest social networks, the two biggest search networks, then podcasting because I love podcasting. And then I left it open. I didn’t go into every single network on earth. I didn’t go into Twitter and Linked in and TIkTok and Snapchat and all the others, although I could’ve. The reason why is because in those 5 chapters I lay out a framework, and the biggest, most difficult thing for me writing this Traffic Secrets book is I’m writing a book I want to live for forever and be evergreen on the most un evergreen topic of all time, which is traffic. Literally the Facebook ads manager changes every single day. So it’s like, how do you write a book and take a snapshot in time, like this is how it works, when tomorrow it’s different? So instead I tried to show a pattern. This is the pattern of how it all works, and how it works over and over and over and over again. And I show that pattern in the current Facebook, current Instagram, current Google, current YouTube, current podcasting, but then I’m trying to not just give a man a fish. A lot of times it’s like here’s the fish, this is how you do it, just copy the process. But instead I’m trying to teach people how to finish in this book. So it’s like what’s the pattern every single time. So if you look everyone of these chapters it’s kind of interesting. The first section of every chapter is like the history. Like if you want to know where the platform is going we have to know where it came from. Like how to Google start, how the algorithms change, why do they change, what was the purpose behind this one and that one and that one? Because if you understand why Google is making these changes, and you can start thinking like them and understanding, this is what their goal is and what they’re trying to do and their intention. Because you may be reading this chapter in the book right now, and it may have already shifted, so you need to be able to understand and find the history of what’s happening and where we’re at today. That’s number one, is getting a lay out of the history of each of the platforms and what the end goal is of each platform, which is always how to make the best experience possible for the end user. Google wants to make sure when you go to Google, you get the best results. Facebook wants to make sure when you show up to Facebook that you love the things that are in your feed. That’s it. So that’s what they’re trying to do. How do we align with those networks, instead of trying to compete against them, which is what all the spammers and scammers do, how do we align with the will of the network and then if we give them what they want, they’ll give us what we want. So it’s all figuring out that alignment. That’s number one. Then number two, the next step in the process is always who on the platform has already figured this out? Who’s already identified your dream customers? Who’s already publishing? Who’s getting tons of views and likes, whoever it is? Let’s find those dream 100, I tell everyone, let’s say it’s Facebook. Go into Facebook, unfriend all your friends and go follow all your dream 100. That will make it so your newsfeed is just a real time swipe file of the pulse of your market, what’s happening, and you can feel it, as opposed to being distracted by all your friends and family posting cat pictures and such. So you delete everyone and just follow your dream 100. And now you ha ve your pulse on the market. Now you can feel what’s happening in the market. What’s working today? What kind of things are people posting? What’s getting the most likes, and the least likes? It gives you the ability to see in real time what the algorithms are rewarding. That’s the magic of it. So we go back and understand the history, we take a snapshot of where we’re at right now, and we do our dream 100 on the specific platform and we start watching and observing what is being rewarded today, and that gives us a snapshot of this is what’s happening and how we need to do. So now you have that. And the third thing is okay now, based on the snapshot we understand what’s happening, how do we build our publishing plan. So we build a publishing plan, so we have a show on the network that we’re focused on that becomes our show. And then you can leverage that show to earn your way in to other, into your dream 100 and then to buy your way into the dream 100. So that’s the next phase of the pattern. And then you’re siphoning off the traffic you’re earning, the traffic you’re buying, and converting traffic of your own. And the last section is how do you go and just do paid ads directly on a platform. But that’s the pattern I show in every single network, over and over and over and over again. So if you want a sneak peek at the book, that’s it. It’ spick a platform, looking at the history, figuring out where do they come from, what were the algorithm changes that happened? Okay now we understand, this is what’s been happening over the last decade, now I’v ecome to play this game, now I know the rules of the game, now I’m going to follow my dream 100. What are they currently doing today that’s being rewarded by the platforms? We look at that closely and then we start modeling it. And then after we model it, we start innovating on it for our own show. Boom, we create our own show. After we have our own show, from there we come back, step back and we start figuring out how we use our own show to leverage to buy our way into other people’s shows, and then how do we buy ads to buy our way into other people’s show, drive traffic to build your following, and also to fill your funnels. And t hat’s the game my friends. And it’s so much fun, it’s so exciting. I cannot wait for you guys to read this book. Anyway, it actually was really helpful for me to explain that out loud to you guys as well. I’m going to go back and maybe add a little pre-section before section 2 that explains that better. I think I explained it very well after the section, but I’m going to plug that into the actual section I believe. So anyway, fyi. Thank you guys for letting me share that with you. And the last thing I’ll tell you is section number three of the book is called growth hacking and it’s fun. It’s where we start going into all these other ninja ways to get traffic that most people aren’t thinking about or talking about. Yet, they are responsible for a ton of our traffic. So oh man, I can’t wait for you guys. I hope you enjoy this all. It’s fun. This whole game is so much fun. Alright, that’s all I got my friends. I appreciate you all, I’m almost to the penthouse. I’m actually speaking at Stephen Larsen’s Offer Mind on Tuesday and I’m going to be talking about the same thing I just shared with you guys. I’m going to go a little deeper into it though, so they can understand it at a little deeper level. But I want, I just wanted to kind of flush it out here a little bit. Again, testing my material here. And I’ll be sharing it in the book obviously, but as his event. And for all you guys how are anxiously waiting for the book as much as I am, I cannot wait to give it to you guys. I can’t wait to share it with you gusy. It’s been a labor of love, it’s been a lot of work. And I hope you guys get a ton from it. So with that said, I appreciate you all, thanks for everything. And I’ll talk to you all soon. Bye everybody.

I'm very excited to share with you today's episode all about how to make strategic noise. I'm gonna share with you a video ad we created recently, AND teach you a little bit more about the script that we used to make it. I know I've talked about this a little bit in a previous episode (or two) about how we wrote the script for themlmfunnel.com ad. Go to themlmfunnel.com if you wanna look at it. But I'm actually gonna put it right here in this episode! And the ONLY reason is because I want you to watch what I'm doing. I couldn’t care less if you actually go get the thing that it's promoting. What I want you to see is how I'm using things that people are already familiar with in their ads. HOW TO MAKE STRATEGIC NOISE I have been studying more P.T. Barnum… And if you do not know who he is, P.T. Barnum is famous for his circus that he created. He's The P.T. Barnum Circus. But he didn't start doing that till later on in his life… He had a museum that he would promote… And he's kind of a serial entrepreneur. One of the things that P.T. Barnum was most known for was his bizarre ways of gaining attention. And to be a marketer is to be an attention-getter. THAT’S what I'm gonna show you guys in this ad. https://youtu.be/oC1U_Q2yBXM One of the things that he did way back in the mid 1800s when he had this museum was, he went and he found this homeless guy… He walked up to the homeless guy, and he told him to: Every hour, on the hour, several times a day, carry these bricks… He was supposed to put a brick on the corner of all these streets around the museum… And walk around, every so often, throughout the day, take one brick and replace it with the one that's on another street corner… Then walk to the next corner, and replace that brick with another one… And go to the next corner, without saying anything… … That was it. Then he was supposed to go drink and take a nap. It was only 30 minutes before this bizarre act was causing attention around his museum, and thus he would get more sales. I think he paid him 15 cents an hour to do this. He did A LOT of really bizarre, random things. He was the first one to bring an ELEPHANT to America. He's the first one to do a lot of things. And what he was great at was using strategic noise. MAKING A VIDEO AD FOR STRATEGIC NOISE I believe the world is noisy already… I'm not telling you to make strategic noise for noise's sake. However, to be a marketer… Multi-level marketer Network marketer ... You are a marketer, but the industry is mis-named. It is largely mis-named, because they're like, "You can only use these kinds of noise." And it's not really strategic noise… It's like a whisper. I want you to see how I am creating noise. This will make sense when you actually watch it. I'm doing bizarre things… And you don't need an explanation. People NEED curiosity in their lives. They WANT excitement. I challenge you: To watch what I'm doing and how I'm orchestrating it. HINT: Don't stop when you see me get to the offer ;) I strongly encourage you to go and watch the YouTube version of this podcast episode because you’ll actually SEE the ad… The jump cuts How fast we did I had a professional video ad team follow me around for a day. We shot this ad and we've been going back and forth on different cut styles, when to take this out, and put this in, and what kind of words to put on the screens etc. I'm using an actual script in my head… And then I'm doing a few weird, bizarre things that make no sense for the sake of gaining attention. MLM VIDEO AD In the ad, I'm also making fun of a few things that are widely known inside of MLM. Q: Why would I do that? A: Because they're widely known inside of MLM. One of my favorite Shark Tank episodes was where they turned down funding for this guy because… They loved his product, they liked him, they thought it was amazing. BUT the only reason why none of them funded him is because of this… This is what he said. "I like it, I like you, it's amazing. The only issue is it would cost millions of dollars to educate the market, in order for them to buy this." I was like, "Oh man, that's a powerful statement right there." You don't have to be this prolific genius. The market will tell you what’s already known. If you're like, “How do I make ads for this or that?”, “How do I gain attention?”, “How do I gain more noise?” You need to join in the place where they already are, and then take them to a new spot. Watch the ad and I want you to do something for me… When you learn something cool or observe something, please pause it and take notes. One of the ways I learned how to write scripts in my early days was to watched A LOT of videos. I would press play and then press pause and write it down. Q: Did that take few hours? A: Yeah, it did. Actually, sometimes it'd take a few days. But I internalized it on such a deep level. It meant I could replicate it and do the same, which is why we're doing all this. Take out a piece of paper. LEARN FROM THIS VIDEO AD What I'm good at is causing buying emotions. When you start to feel the buying emotions, pause and take note as to why you're feeling the buying emotion. This is one of the greatest educations I could give you on this podcast. Make notes when you: Start to feel the buying emotions Learn something new When you see something bizarre I'm doing this to fight false beliefs and poke fun of certain things. But there's a spot where I switch gears and start pitching. Watch that. Try and answer these questions: Why am I pitching what I am? Who am I pitching it to? Who do you think my target buyer is? … Thinking this way turns you into a marketer. You DID NOT become a marketer because you joined MLM. I needed to turn you into a marketer. Dissect this ad and go slow. Watch what I do to create scarcity and urgency. What do I do to walk them through buying? What do I do afterwards for all the knee-jerk reactions I know people are gonna have when they watch it. Watch it the whole way through… Do it a few times because it's very, very powerful. It's gonna be powerful for you seeing how us marketers actually orchestrate strategic noise. THE MLM FUNNEL VIDEO AD Is success in MLM even possible today? Well, let me ask you this…. Will this TV blow up with four pounds of explosives under it? BOOM! Whoa! I'm Steve, and MLM is stuck in the '90s! HELLO, the Internet is here! MLM is loaded with old and outdated methods, like… The three-way phone call! "Hey, you wanna make some money? I don't know how it works, but you gotta talk to this guy. Let me three-way you in." OR making a huge list of your friends and family that are uninterested and bugging them… The next question I have to answer is, “What island will I buy?!” OR have you ever attended one of those home parties that turns out to be fake? "Thanks all for coming to my party. I can't wait for you all to buy my product and fuel my future and retirement, 'cause I really haven't learned how to sell." "This party sucks!" I'm totally kidding… But serious. VIDEO AD FOR NETWORK MARKETING SECRETS The point is that us Internet marketers are playing the MLM game completely different than you've likely been taught.
