Republican voters are entering the "find out" stage. Of course, Trump lied when he said he wasn't going to meet with BFF Putin. The New York Post reminded Shitler the Czar of Russia was a dictator. Angry GOP constituents in Georgia ripped U.S. Representative Rich McCormick a new one over his subservience to man-baby.  Feckless Transportation Secretary was booed in Cali. Trudeau took a verbal swipe at Diaper Don after Canada beat the U.S. in a hockey game. Evangelical loon Joel Webbon blathered Christians need absolute power. Representative Robert Garcia mocked the ketamine addict known as Elon in a funny way. The crackly voiced head of Health and Human Services stopped flu shot ads and a canceled a vaccination conference. According to the new Michael Wolfe book, Melania hates Donald bigly.  A prominent prophet explained how he was wrong about something.

On today's episode, we welcome the dynamic duo, Lily Yasuda and Michael Wolfe, two inspiring filmmakers who have decided to take the road less traveled by creating their own feature film, Like Love. Their journey is one of collaboration, determination, and creativity—filled with moments of laughter and the occasional unexpected hurdle. From the outset, you'll sense the chemistry between Lily and Michael. They first crossed paths during their time at Chapman University, bonding over vulnerable and humorous writing assignments in a creative writing class. Their shared passion for storytelling sparked not only a friendship but also a creative partnership. This partnership culminated in the idea for Like Love, a project born out of their desire to challenge traditional romantic comedy tropes.“We wanted to tell a story that feels real and honest,” Lily shares, “about friendships and the complexities of human connection.”At its heart, Like Love is what they call an “anti-romantic comedy.” Drawing inspiration from classics like When Harry Met Sally, Lily and Michael aim to flip the script on the genre. Instead of perpetuating the myth that friendship between men and women inevitably leads to romance, their film explores the beauty of platonic relationships. As Michael explains, “It's about two friends trying to fall in love and realizing they're better off as friends. That's the kind of story we don't see enough.”Their filmmaking journey hasn't been without its challenges. Crowdfunding has been a pivotal part of bringing Like Love to life. Lily and Michael describe the process as “a full-time job in itself,” requiring not only meticulous planning but also a willingness to be vulnerable and open about their creative vision. They've leaned heavily on their network for support, finding generosity in unexpected places.“The community in Boise has been incredible,” says Lily. “People here are so supportive, offering locations, resources, and even homemade meals for the crew.”Despite the logistical hurdles, their passion for storytelling shines through. Michael, the film's director, admits that directing a micro-budget feature comes with unique pressures. “We're all wearing multiple hats,” he notes, “but it's an amazing experience to work so closely with a team that believes in the project.” Lily, who also stars as the film's lead, balances her roles as actor, writer, and producer with grace, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in every aspect of the project. As they reflect on their experiences, one thing becomes clear: Like Love is more than just a film; it's a testament to the power of community and perseverance. Lily and Michael hope their story inspires other aspiring filmmakers to take the leap. “Making a movie isn't easy,” Lily acknowledges, “but if you're passionate about your story, you'll find a way to make it happen.”Please enjoy my conversation with Lily Yasuda and Michael Wolfe.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/indie-film-hustle-a-filmmaking-podcast--2664729/support.

When was the last time you changed your mind? Are you sure? In this episode we explore new research that suggests for the majority of the mind change we experience, after we update our priors, we delete what we used to believe and then simply forget that we ever thought otherwise. In the show, psychologists Michael Wolfe and Todd Williams, take us though their new research which suggests that because brains so value consistency, and are so determined to avoid the threat of decoherence, we hide the evidence of our belief change. That way, the story we tell ourselves about who we are can remain more or less heroic, with a stable, steadfast protagonist whose convictions rarely waver -- or, at least, they don’t waver as much as those of shifty, flip-flopping politicians. This can lead to a skewed perception of the world, one that leads to the assumption that mind change is rare and difficult-to-come-by. And that can lead to our avoiding information that might expand our understanding of the world, because we assume it will have no impact. The truth, say Wolfe and Williams, is that mind change is so prevalent and constant, that the more you expose yourself to counterevidence, the more your worldview will erode, replaced by a better, more accurate one -- it's just that you probably won't realize it until you look back at old posts on social media and cringe. - Show notes at: www.youarenotsosmart.com - Become a patron at: www.patreon.com/youarenotsosmart SPONSORS • The Great Courses: www.thegreatcoursesplus.com/smart • Squarespace: www.squarespace.com/sosmart -- Offer code: SOSMART See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

On today's episode of The Daily Daily Caller Podcast... Former Director of National Intelligence has a story to sell you, more accurately, he has a book to sell you. James "the clap" Clapper is on a book tour that is being greeted by the liberal media like two other recent book tours for James Comey and Michael Wolfe, who were treated as conquering heroes of the #Resistance that were going to deliver a death blow to the Trump administration...only to see the wheels come off soon after hitting book stores. Like Wolff and Comey, Clapper is having difficulty backing up his assertions --- in this case that the intelligence community spied on the Trump campaign to protect it. The idea that the FBI needed to spy on the Trump campaign in order to save it is like Nicolas Cage in "National Treasure," where he had to steal the Declaration of Independence in order to save it from being stolen by a really bad guy. Unlike "National Treasure," where Cage tried to warn the National Archives of the gathering threat, Clappy and his fellow travelers didn't bother to inform anyone in the Trump campaign that the Russians, allegedly, were trying to infiltrate them. Why? If you're afraid someone is attempting something nefarious to the point that you'd spy on Americans to "protect" them, wouldn't you do the ultimate "heading them off at the pass" and inform them so they wouldn't even risk accidentally falling down that rabbit hole? Not if you wanted to gather dirt on them, which seems to be what the "deep state" really has as its objective. On his book tour, The Clap is saying he believes the Russians not only tried to interfere with the election, but they actually flipped it and won it for Trump. Hillary Clinton's campaign spent nearly a billion and a half dollars, more than 2 to 1 what Trump spent, and still lost. Was it because of the several thousands of dollars alleged Russian agents spends on ridiculous Facebook memes, or was it because she was an awful candidate the public had gotten to know over 30 years and decided they wanted no part of? We answer that question on today's show. Special Counsel Robert Mueller is attempting to block the trial of Concord Management and Consulting, one of the companies charged by him as members of the conspiracy to influence the election. By law, they are entitled to a speedy trial. But Mueller is trying to deny them that because he never expected any of the 13 defendants he charged to actually want a trial, he expected them to hide in Russia. But Concord called his bluff, and now Mueller is in panic mode, saying he needs more time than the legally required 70 days after filing charges. Either he has the goods or he doesn't, either the indictments were legitimate and backed up by evidence, or they were for show so his office could claim an accomplishment and advance a narrative. What is Mueller afraid of? We discuss. And the NFL thinks they've solved their National Anthem problem. The league has introduced a fine and penalty for teams where anyone does not stand at attention for the song before the start of any game. Are Roger Goodell and the gang trying to have it both ways? Will it work, will fans return? Probably not. Listen to find out why. The Daily Daily Caller Podcast is a daily look and mocking of the news from a conservative perspective. Engaging with customers is one of the most difficult challenges for most companies. With the growing number of ways consumers interact with brands — from phone calls, to texting, to social media messaging — it’s becoming increasingly hard for companies to aggregate interactions into useful information. Even today, customer service products focus on individual communication channels and treat customers as case numbers or tickets. The founders of Gladly think this standard needs to change. They are reimagining the business/consumer relationship by centralizing all communications and making the atomic unit of their product what it should be: the customer.  Gladly CEO Joseph Ansanelli and VP of Engineering Michael Wolfe have a deep history of successful ventures together. The two first worked with each other at Kana, an early customer service software company that helped managed email and web based communications. The pair later founded Vontu, a data loss prevention software that was later acquired by Symantec. In 2015, they got the band back together and incubated Gladly at Greylock with mission to change how large enterprises interact with their many customers.   In the latest episode of Greymatter, Joseph and Michael sit down with Greylock partner and Gladly board member, Jerry Chen. The founders share their vision for reinventing customer service, identifying spaces ripe for disruption, and what it takes to become the industry standard. Below are a few key takeaways from the discussion.

Calling customer service is a nightmare. But what if it didn’t have to be? What if you could call up a major company—your credit card or your airline, for example—and they instantly knew who you were? If they had your tweets, your emails, and your most recent experiences with the company at their fingertips, and could just start off helping you out? Gladly, founded by Michael Wolfe, is turning this into reality. Listen to Karl Ulrich and Michael talk about what makes Gladly an unique kind of startup, with a dream team of serial entrepreneurs and a huge quantity of funding, who are out to change customer service as we know it. This is not something two college dropouts in a garage even could do—and we avidly hope that Gladly succeeds. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

For many entrepreneurs, creating a business plan is motivated by their passion, their vision, and what they think will make their business a success. However, what many small business owners and new business owners often forget Is that – despite their passion, their vision – they also need to consider what their investors are looking for in a sound business plan before they determine whether to invest their money. But, what do investors look for when reviewing a business plan? How can a small business owner identify those deciding factors and write their business plan to get a “yes” from investors? Today, I’m talking with Michael Wolfe, a software entrepreneur with over 12 years of experience as a software investor. He shares what he – and many other investors – look for when evaluating a business plan and deciding whether to invest money into a small business.   “The best business makers are fantastic storytellers. They understand how to pitch their story to whoever their audience is.” – Michael Wolfe   This Week on the Your Money, Your Business, Your Life Podcast: Why developing your team is as important as developing your product and business? Why investors only want to see one person anchoring the business – not more than one. Why “sweat equity” is important to investors.     5 Most Important Areas in a Business Plan: A simple idea. As wildlife populations increase, so does the potential for human-wildlife conflicts, which can be seen in in economic losses, regulatory conflicts, and sometimes, physical encounters. Terry Messmer, Director of the Berryman Institute at USU, says that wildlife managers may need to change their traditional emphasis from sustaining or increasing wildlife populations to mitigating conflicts. On Monday's AU we'll talk about potential effects of listing the Sage-grouse as an endangered species and of delisting the wolf. We'll also consider the phenomenon of urban deer and the management of wild horses and burros. We'll ask you what you think about these issues and we'd also like to know if you've had an encounter with, say, a mountain lion or a bear. Joining the discussion today is Terry Messmer and Michael Wolfe, Emeritus professor of Wildlife Ecology and Management at Utah State University.

Strange Fruit #58: Filmmaker Michael Wolfe on Muslims in America

Documentary filmmaker Michael Wolfe is probably not the image that comes to mind when most people think "Muslim." In fact, he's a middle-aged white guy from Ohio. But he is a convert to Islam and has spent his career telling the stories of Muslims in America—a story that goes back further than you might think (there were Muslims in the USA during George Washington's lifetime, and of course, many enslaved Africans were Muslims). Stereotypes about Islam abound, and often intersect with other forms of bigotry, especially since 35% of American Muslims are African American. Wolfe was in Louisville recently, courtesy of the Pakistani-American Alliance for Compassion & Education, to speak about major Christian figures like Jesus, Moses and Mary and the role they play in Islamic theology. He stopped by our studios to tell us more about his work, including his film Prince Among Slaves: The Cultural Legacy of Enslaved Africans, which was screened at the Frazier History Museum. In our Juicy Fruit segment this week, we have an update on George Zimmerman. We told you last week he was arrested for threatening his girlfriend; she has decided to stay with him and has asked prosecutors to drop the charges against him. While many states will proceed with domestic violence prosecutions without the victim's cooperation, victims are often the only witnesses as well, so those cases can be hard to prove. We also talked about representations of black lesbians on reality TV, and a recent article called 11 Things You've Always Wanted to Know About Lesbian Sex But Were Afraid to Ask. Dr. Story also drew some parallels between the racist and sexist reactions to the so-called Obama selfies, and a viral episode of What Would You Do featuring a black man and his white girlfriend in a Harlem barbershop. Both stories suggest that black women see white women as a threat to their relationships, which Dr. Story says is a made-up media narrative and a tool of white supremacy and patriarchy. "Because if they're so fighting over the black men," she explains, "they aren't going to be working on feminist stuff or moving gender forward."

Actor, writer, director, and producer Michael Wolfe joins host Robin Milling to talk about his debut film, Maybe Tomorrow. The multi-talented Wolfe wrote the story tailor-made for his acting buddies of three friends who reunite after 15 years to explore a long-forgotten crime and cover-up that has affected the course of their lives. Wolfe, who's character snorts a line of cocaine from a 12-step brochure, tells Robin the energetic Vitamin B-12 which doubled for the white powder was so realistic that a rehab director at the film's location thought he was really hopped up! Michael jokes about filming the sex scene with his co-star Carolina Ravassa on top of a washing machine is not the most sexiest, but Michael Douglas would be impressed! A native of Long Island, Wolfe is very excited to show his film at the upcoming Hoboken Film Festival in New Jersey. For his sophomore project Wolfe wrote and will perform in I Love You, I'll Miss You, Goodbye, an intense and touching on-the-road comedy. In the years since the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001, scrutiny of the religion of Islam has become part and parcel of our public life. In forums of all kinds, often guided by non-Muslim pundits, we ask, what does terrorism have to do with the teachings of the Qur’an? Can Islam coexist with democracy? Is Islam capable of a reformation, or has it fallen into hopeless decay? We pose these questions to a spectrum of American Muslims who describe themselves as devout and moderate. Our guests take us inside the way Muslims discuss such questions among themselves, and they suggest that when we consider “the Muslim world” we must look first at Islam in this country. In this open society, they say, Islam has found a home like no other.
