This is a teaser for the episode with Australia's #1 Life Coach, John Templeton. Don't miss the full episode. Questions to ask: 1) Is this belief a 100% complete and certain fact? (Could someone else in the universe disagree?) 2) How does it make you feel? 3) Who would you be without this belief? 4) What would be a better belief that you could put your energy into? (it must ‘feel' true) 5) What are three specific examples where this new belief was true? 6) How does that make you feel? 7) Can you have, be and do more when you are feeling this way? Is the world a better place now that you believe this? 8) What action must you take to support your new belief? (this will feel scary but must be done to start the rewiring phase)
My guest says: “I began life as a change maker but soon gave in to disempowerment as a sensitive being. I developed Lupus at age 19 and at 31 began my awakening journey to a full recovery, curing the autoimmune disease at the age of 36. Coming to understand the mind body and spirit connection and the power of belief and energy work transformed my work as a counseling psychologist. Surrender led me to certain life events, profound spiritual awakening and a dedication to being of service. I am here to assist in the rising of the new earth and empower the people to heal their pain, create their own realities and remember their divinity.” Nikki's Healing InSight Method transforms people's negative beliefs through clearing their chakras, raising their vibrations and creating an open space for new positive beliefs to enter. Health, happiness and healing can be easy. Please join us Thursday to learn more about this transformative system for personal growth and development.

Belief change can be a real SOB. I remember that initial chasm (trust me, there were many more) that was crossed, when my world got rocked understanding the flaws and consequences of a purely biomedical paradigm. It challenged a lot of my foundational knowledge that I clung too, and what defined me. So here's the plot twist, what do you do when you have a social media platform over 500k in size and you have a massive belief change? That shit takes SERIOUS integrity and vulnerability. This is one of the reasons why I truly admire Jacob Harden. I have had the pleasure of growing along side him since 2015. One thing that unifies us is this: "when you know better, do better." While overly structural and nocebo laden posts are a hot ticket on the gram, once you see the robust evidence that this can cause harm, you must simply do better. Thank you Jacob for opening up on this episode, I thoroughly enjoyed it and consider you a true leader in the healthcare industry. Definitely check out Jacob's course which he teaches world wide Prehab 101. Learn more about our upcoming cohorts for Level Up at thelevelupinitiative.com Interest in the CALU Summit? How our beliefs affect us and belief change are topics of focus in this episode of Thinking Clearly with guest: Professor Michael Wolfe from Grand Valley State University. Professor Wolfe's research interests on how our preexisting beliefs affect our evaluation of arguments, the degree to which we change our beliefs when exposed to information that is either consistent or inconsistent with those beliefs and the implications of his findings for our ability to be critical thinkers are also explored.

When was the last time you changed your mind? Are you sure? In this episode we explore new research that suggests for the majority of the mind change we experience, after we update our priors, we delete what we used to believe and then simply forget that we ever thought otherwise. In the show, psychologists Michael Wolfe and Todd Williams, take us though their new research which suggests that because brains so value consistency, and are so determined to avoid the threat of decoherence, we hide the evidence of our belief change. That way, the story we tell ourselves about who we are can remain more or less heroic, with a stable, steadfast protagonist whose convictions rarely waver -- or, at least, they don’t waver as much as those of shifty, flip-flopping politicians. This can lead to a skewed perception of the world, one that leads to the assumption that mind change is rare and difficult-to-come-by. And that can lead to our avoiding information that might expand our understanding of the world, because we assume it will have no impact. The truth, say Wolfe and Williams, is that mind change is so prevalent and constant, that the more you expose yourself to counterevidence, the more your worldview will erode, replaced by a better, more accurate one -- it's just that you probably won't realize it until you look back at old posts on social media and cringe. - Show notes at: www.youarenotsosmart.com - Become a patron at: www.patreon.com/youarenotsosmart SPONSORS • The Great Courses: www.thegreatcoursesplus.com/smart • Squarespace: www.squarespace.com/sosmart -- Offer code: SOSMART See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I’m so excited to share with you Beyond Positive Thinking. Dr. Robert Anthony is a world leader when it comes to the mind, and this is the book that changed my life forever. Your actions are a direct result of your ideas, right or wrong. Think about this. You are going to follow your thinking. So if you have broken or limited thinking, you’re going to have broken or limited results. Your opportunity to build a big business and achieve exactly what you say you want to achieve is directly relative to your belief structure. Low level of belief, low level of success. High level of belief, high level of success. This is why so many business owners have been able to go out and build businesses that are three, four, five, 10 times bigger than their peer groups’. “If we accept our beliefs as true, then they will be true for us, even if they’re formulated on faulty information.” If our thinking is limited with regards to our opportunity, our belief is low. And many of our beliefs are not true, but the desire to be right is more profound than the desire to change. These beliefs ultimately limit our success. I see this all the time in business. People dig in their heels in and say “I’m right. This doesn’t work. I know that won’t work. We don’t want to change.” They’re so settled into mediocrity that they are unwilling to look at the opportunity to do things bigger and better, and to create a much more dynamic magnitude of impact, because their beliefs say don’t do it. If you want to change your life, you must change your thinking. Business is an extension of your life. If your business is not doing all the things you’d like it to do for you — and I’m not talking about settling, I’m not talking about mediocrity, but doing amazing things for you — then you need to change your thinking.
