She also goes into the recent changes in toxic work environments and how there is still a long way to go. The entertainment industry is frequently called out for posturing as politically enlightened and progressive, yet beneath this veneer lies a troubling history of toxic, racist, and emotionally abusive working environments. This conduct would be deemed unacceptable in other sectors, so why does Hollywood often turn a blind eye? More crucially, what measures can be taken to address it? In this episode, Adam is joined by author and journalist Maureen Ryan to discuss the cycle of abuse and accountability, and the best course for remedying the ugly underbelly of show business. Co-hosts Tara Bennett and Mo Ryan sit down with Finding Lost author, Nikki Stafford, for an insightful look at how Lost took fan engagement to a new level. They discuss how they each interacted with fandom back in the day, the history of Lost's official fandom board, The Fuselage, and how from there, the show's speculation/theory culture spun out to new heights. From blogger recaps to journalist mega theories, Lostpedia’s fan community, spoiler culture, and the evolution of toxic fan culture, this episode tackles it all.

In this episode, we're trying out a new format. We're calling it an acoustic panel. Doctoral candidate Megan Genovese sent questions to leading leading voices in the ongoing debates around diversity in the entertainment industries. Each respondent sent in a recording of their responses and we've edited them together to make up a virtual panel. The result is a lively, if simulated discussion, touching on the industry, its guilds and unions, and representation, on screen and off. We'll ask our expert panelists about the state of the American entertainment industry in light of the 70th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards and a year into the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements. The panelists include Marjorie David, television writer and producer and Vice President of the Writer's Guild of America West; Mo Ryan, a freelance journalist and television critic; and Joelle Monique, cultural critic and writer for Pajiba, Polygon, Mary Sue, and other outlets.
