How many times have you heard that a person is too busy to get fit? It is a common excuse many people make. Busy people have two fundamental problems when it comes to staying in shape. Ā They don't have a lot of time, and they need to have information that can be turned into actionable results. Without these, they won't be able to make the changes that actually work. Unfortunately, these people end up sacrificing their health and fitness and eventually suffer in all areas of their lives. To share how he overcame this cycle, we invited Martin Sharp to the show. Martin has personally worked through this problem and identified six pillars that those trapped in a busy lifestyle need to apply to enact lasting change.Ā  Martin is a multi-award winning international consultant and author who specializes in helping high achieving consultants, business owners, and entrepreneurs obtain their optimal fitness and lifestyle.Ā

We all lead busy lives and often use our limited time as an excuse to procrastinate and avoid making plans with others or getting things done in our own lives. But, when it really boils down to it, this is idea that you are "too busy" or "don't have time" is a lie. It's a lie we tell others, but sometimes more importantly, yourself. It helps you believe that you'll never be able to forge any new relationships, start a new project, or get anything done for that matter...and that is a problem, a big problem. Therefore, instead of saying "I'm too busy" or "I don't have time", replace it by saying "it's not a priority," and really see how that feels. To be completely honest, it may not feel good at first because you are admitting to yourself and someone else, possibly, that whatever it is, isn't a priority to you. These changing mindset and attitude most likely won't sit well with you, and that's the point. Changing your language reminds you that time is a choice. If you don't like how you're spending an hour, you can choose differently. It's truly a simple idea, and a great one at that! Our language is often used to be polite and respond with non-confrontational answers because the truth might be hard to hear. Sometimes you may even subject yourself to more polite language and end up in situations that you do NOT want to be in. You have to remember that how you use and spend your time is very important because time is a finite resource and shouldn't be wasted. Don't risk putting it to poor use by not allowing yourself to be honest with yourself and others about your priorities in life. Alter your language and you may just discover what's most important. --- This episode is sponsored by Ā· Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Hey, hey, hey and welcome to another episode of me telling tales of my shameless journey towards becoming a self made author in the hopes it would help you navigate your publishing journey. This is episode 5 of Self Published ya’ll, and that means we are half way through the season. I know I don’t usually do this, but I want to talk a little bit about this episode.Ā  As I shared in the last episode, I wear many hats. But being a mother is by far my favorite. I am a natural nurturer, and while my life could be used as a poster child for the nature verses nurture argument because I filled the role of a mom to my siblings from a very young age, I know that at the very core of me, even sometimes to a fault, the role of my soul is mothering. That’s just me. It is what it is. That being said, the blog we reminisce on today holds a special place in my publishing journey because it was inspired not only by my experience with my mother, but the challenges that many working moms face juggling career and motherhood.Ā  When you’re a parent, every decision you make affects your offspring one way or another; and even more so as a single parent. Though my kids are essentially along for the ride in many parts of my life, my maternal instinct is to take into consideration how my journey affects them. And that’s when IĀ make sure their wearing their seat belt. ā€œLolā€ Get it, along for the ride? Wearing a seat belt? lol. Oh….(transition from laugh to musicā€. The Blog Post.August 14th 2013 MATERNAL INSTINCT I love being a mother. I love everything about it. I enjoy being pregnant (after the morning sickness stage). I'm excited about giving birth. I adore breast feeding and I am passionate about raising children.Ā I was given a lot of responsibility at a young age and I am the eldest of a whole lot of siblings, but even before my parents burdened me with the care of my brother's and sisters, I wanted to nurture them before I was old enough to know what the word meant. I brushed my brother's hair when he was a baby (I was two). I begged my mom for opportunities to change my little sister (I was four). And by the time I was nine, for hours my parents would leave me home alone with three children and an infant to take care of.Ā I believe my maternal instinct is God given and not necessarily a conditioned behavior. On a daily basis I am surrounded by adults in progress; which include my own offspring, and aaaaalllll of their friends. I'm known to them as Mommy or 'Z', and my home is the place to go for advice, fresh cookies, or to take a load off. Z's house is also the only place that some parents on my block will allow their children to stay past their curfew. Now like any other human being, I have myĀ https://youtu.be/rCeEBUbyviI (Calgon)Ā moments, but I think my affinity towards and high tolerance of young people, is because I didn't really have a childhood of my own.Ā  I remember when I was twelve, I asked my mother if because she and my father got married after I was born, did they only do so because she was pregnant. In my attempt to figure out why my parents treated me the way they did, I found it logical that my conception was the blame. I thought that maybe if I wasn't born, my parents would not have gotten married and none of what me and my siblings went through would have happened. My mother never answered, instead she told me to stop asking stupid questions. I've long given up that idea, and now my mother answers every question I ask her. Which brings me to the inquiry I posed to her tonight: After all that's happened, what does she feel could have encouraged her to protect her children from herĀ husband? To which she couldn't respond. I told her to think about it and get back to me. Ā I’ve forgiven my mother. And though she's given excuses like fear and shame for her behavior, I have yet to learn why her maternal instincts didn't kick in.Ā  When she gets back to me, I'll let you... Support this podcast

Kenny Lattimore(born April 10, 1970) is an American singer-songwriter. Lattimore first developed his interest for music in the high school band program at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland. He often acknowledges Dr. Barbara Baker for setting him on his current path. Lattimore spoke at the 2005 Eleanor Roosevelt High School Graduation.[1] He is an alumnus of Howard University in Washington, D.C.Career[edit]1988-1991: Maniquin[edit]A stint as session vocalist for R&B group Maniquin led to an official place in the group as lead singer.[2] D'Extra Wiley of the 1990s R&B group II D Extreme was also a member of Maniquin, briefly before signing to MCA Records. The group released a lone self-titled album for Epic Records in 1989. Its lead single "I Wanna Ride" was an answer to the hit single "Mercedes Boy" by Pebbles in both sound and lyric. Both artists' singles were produced and co-written by Charlie Wilson of Gap Band fame.[3] Lattimore soon left Maniquin to pursue a solo career, and the group subsequently disbanded.[4]1992-1999: Kenny Lattimore and From the Soul of Man[edit]His own debut album Kenny Lattimore was released on Columbia Records in 1996.[2] That set included a pair of Top 20 hits: "Never Too Busy" and the Grammy-nominated "For You",[2] written by high school friend Kenny Lerum. The album earned Lattimore a win for Best New Artist at the NAACP Image Awards in 1996,[5] and eventually achieved Gold sales status. He followed up his debut with From the Soul of Man, another critically acclaimed set of classically styled soul music in 1998,[2] yielding the hits "Days Like This" and "If I Lose My Woman" along with a standout cover of The Beatles' "While My Guitar Gently Weeps."2000-2006: Arista Records and Weekend[edit]After a short hiatus, the singer re-emerged on Arista Records when, then president Clive Davis signed him to a new contract.[2] He eventually released a more contemporary R&B album, 2001's Weekend under L.A. Reid's regime as Davis was only allowed to take a small defined number of artists to his next venture, J Records. The title track and first single was anchored by a sample of Blondie's "Rapture" and became a radio favorite on both sides of the Atlantic.[6] Davis may have had a different vision for his career, but, he ended up recording three albums for Arista Records as Reid also had a vision that included a modern-day version of a classic soul duo with his new bride, the Gold level artist, Chante Moore whom he recorded two duet albums that were both critically and commercially acclaimed. In keeping with the "lover man" image that came to the fore with the hits that launched his career, Lattimore is known for his dramatic stage shows, vocal agility, and romantic ambiance. The New York Times called him as a "modern soul man" on stage.[7] The singer has long established in interviews his personal mission to show the "strong, but sensitive and caring side of Black men."[8]In 2003, Lattimore and his then-wife Chante Moore released a duet album entitled Things That Lovers Do consisting of classic soul songs from the 1970s and 1980s plus two new original songs. The standout singles were the smooth and contemporary "Loveable (From Your Head to Your Toes)" and a cover of RenƩ & Angela's "You Don't Have To Cry". Lattimore and Moore continued promoting the album with a successful touring stage show.Following Things That Lovers Do, Lattimore released another collaborative album with Moore. The duo released their second collaborative album entitled Uncovered/Covered (2006). The album peaked at number-ten on the Billboard R&B Charts and number-two on the Billboard Gospel charts. The duo's cover version of "You're All I Need to Get By" served as the theme song for the BET reality series The Family Crews.2008-present: Recent activities[edit]In 2008, Lattimore released a cover album with Verve Records entitled Timeless on September 9, 2008. The lead single "You Are My Starship" was originally performed by Norman Connor featuring Michael Henderson.[9] Lattimore was also featured on the uptempo dance song "Another Love" by Brian Culbertson.Lattimore began his own record company SincereSoul Records in 2012. He released his album Back 2 Cool on January 22, 2013.[10] The album's first single "Find a Way" produced by Ivan "Orthodox" Barias & Carvin "Ransum" Higgins hit radio on Valentine's Day 2012. The second single "Back 2 Cool" featured Kelly Price. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
