The Chief Medical Officer has requested a Health Impact Assessment be carried out on proposed legislation which extends opening hours of pubs and nightclubs. Professor Breda Smyth has written to the Justice Minister Helen McEntee, urging her to give consideration to carrying out the assessment. It comes weeks after the Road Safety Authority expressed concerns the passage of the Sale of Alcohol Bill would lead to an increase in road deaths. The Bill would extend the opening hours of late bars to 2:30am, and nightclubs to 6am. Clare's Aontú representative is calling for the extension of test centre opening hours in a bid to curtail the county's significant driving testing backlog. The Road Safety Authority is currently processing 3,149 driving test applications in Clare, however less than 8% of these budding motorists have so far received a scheduled test date. The average waiting time for a driving test in the Banner currently stands at 24 Weeks, while the waiting time is as high as 36 weeks in Shannon. Aontú's MidWest PRO, Eric Nelligan believes test centres could easily operate on weekends and for up to 12 hours a day.

Despite doing a roaring trade seven nights a week since Covid-19 restrictions eased, he believes the lack of foreign tourists means there are not enough willing wait staff to keep up with demand. Conclusion: The Air France Salon Lounge at Lyon airport came with the newly expanded Terminal 2 building, facilities and amenities inside the terminal are kept at the minimum while being new and clean, so is what I have to comment about the new lounge. The lounge decor is up to date with Air France’s overall new service concept, while cost cutting had been put into practice at every aspect possible. I certainly wouldn’t recommend paying in any form to gain access to this lounge, as during quieter hours, the terminal itself has more area to sit and explore than this. Being a frequent traveller these days can only remind people of lowering their own expectations, though the hallway inside the lounge does bring you some peace and solitude while being at such a hectic place like the airport.
