Image via Riccardo De Luca - Update / Shutterstock. Here’s a beautiful invitation from The Patrick Madrid Show that every Catholic should hear: Pope Leo XIV is asking us to fast and pray for peace this August 22nd, the Feast of the Queenship of Mary. At his general audience, the Holy Father turned his heart, and ours, toward the many conflict zones around the world... especially in Ukraine and the Holy Land. His message is clear: Mary, our Queen of Peace, is with us in the fight for true peace, and she’s inviting us to join her through prayer and fasting. So why August 22nd? Mary is honored as Queen of Heaven, and she’s reigning as our Mother; she's standing with us in every struggle. Patrick explains how this connects directly to Revelation 12, where the “woman clothed with the sun” is both Mary and a symbol of the Church. This woman gives birth to Christ and then becomes the target of the dragon, who wages war not just on her, but on the rest of her offspring. These are those who follow Jesus and keep His commandments. What the Pope is Asking: Pope Leo’s call isn’t generic. He says: “I ask you... to include in your intentions a supplication for the gift of peace, a peace that is disarmed and disarming, especially for Ukraine and the Middle East.” This is about real peace, the kind that starts in the heart and flows out to the world. What to Do on August 22nd: Here’s how you can respond: -Pray a Rosary (especially for peace) -Fast in whatever way you can: from food, social media, entertainment, etc... -Offer your day for all who are suffering because of war and violence -Invite others to join you: family, friends, your parish group, etc... August 22nd is your chance to join the Church worldwide in a spiritual mission for peace. Mary is Queen, and she’s leading the charge. Will you follow her lead?

Friends of the Rosary,Today, August 19, we remember the fourth apparition in Fatima. The three child saints were arrested by the Administrator on August 13th, and our Lady's plans were delayed slightly. On Sunday, the 19th of 1917, the Holy Virgin appeared to the visionaries in the woods of Valinhos."Come again to the Cova da Iria on the thirteenth of next month, my child, and continue to say the Rosary every day. In the last month, I will perform a miracle so that all may believe."Lucia asked, "What are we to do with the offerings of money that people leave at the Cova da Iria?""I want you to have two ardors [litters to carry statues] made, for the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. I want you and Jacinta to carry one of them with two other girls. You will both dress in white. And then I want Francisco, with three boys helping him, to carry the other one. The boys, too, will be dressed in white. What is left over will help towards the construction of a chapel that is to be built here."Lúcia then asked for the cure of some sick people."Some I will cure during the year."Looking sadly at them, she said:Pray, pray very much. Make sacrifices for sinners. Many souls go to hell because no one is willing to help them with a sacrifice.Having said that, she departed as she had on the other occasions. We pray one more day today's Holy Rosary from East Hampton, NY.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! In this interview, Lee Humerian shares his journey from rock star to full-time missionary in Ukraine. Lee and his wife, Katie, led mission teams to the Czech Republic and then to Ukraine, which sparked their passion for youth ministry, leading them to join Josiah Venture in 2017. They have been deeply involved in various ministries, including Exit Tours and music camps. Due to the war in Ukraine, they have also led trauma-healing retreats. Lee now leads the evangelistic ministry programs team, while Katie handles human resources. They focus on supporting local church leaders and organizing camps for youth. This summer, the camp theme across our 16 Central and Eastern European countries was "Real Life," and Lee wrote the outlines for the evening talks, which focused on the life of the apostle Paul, for over 120 evangelistic camps. "We can't have the theme 'Real Life' without having stories from our real lives. Your story is powerful. I always think of the verse in Revelation: "We will overcome the enemy by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony." Our stories have the power to overcome the enemy, and so that was my proclamation." -Lee Despite the ongoing war and its impact, their ministry continues to thrive with a commitment to youth and their community. Please continue to pray for an end to the war in Ukraine, and for all of the after-camp follow-up events that are happening right now across all of the JV countries. Pray that young people will come to realize that real life is life with Jesus. A new memo from the Office of Personnel Management claims to protect religious expression in the federal workplace, but it explicitly permits proselytizing, allowing federal employees to attempt to convert coworkers. While it insists these efforts "must not be harassing," the practical reality of defining and reporting harassment—especially when your boss is involved—is a bureaucratic nightmare. This performative stance suggests a solution to a non-existent problem, as religious speech was already permitted. The memo's real aim appears to be to champion specific religious overreach, carving out special protections for "religious beliefs" while conveniently ignoring other deeply held "social, political, or economic philosophies." It's a transparent, and frankly, unnecessary move for a progressive, secular audience.News Source:New memo lets government workers push Christianity on colleagues even if they're the bossBy Hemant Mehta for The Friendly AtheistJuly 28, 2025

As Christians, we put the future in God's hands. We cannot predict the future. We don't know what will happen tomorrow. Many will choose to worry about the future, but instead, we can choose to trust our Heavenly Father. We trust His will, His plan, and His purpose for our lives. Main Points:1. Tomorrow is on our minds. It's likely you are thinking about the future as it relates to your family, your health, your finances, your retirement, your work, and your ministry. What does tomorrow hold? What will the future be like?2. Planning our future gives us a sense of comfort and control. It's not wrong for us to plan and prepare for tomorrow, but we cannot leave God out of our planning. Why? Because He is the only one who truly knows what tomorrow brings. 3. As we look to tomorrow and our future, let's be quick to consult God and ask Him to show us His will. Ask Him to lead, guide, and direct your steps. Pray and ask the Lord to show you His will concerning every aspect of your life. Let's return to the verbiage of believers in a previous generation and say, “if it is the Lord's will."Today's Scripture Verses:James 4:13-16 - “Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil.”Proverbs 27:1 - “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”Quick Links:Donate to support this podcastLeave a review on Apple PodcastsGet a copy of The 5 Minute Discipleship JournalConnect on SocialJoin The 5 Minute Discipleship Facebook Group

In January 2024, a Coptic Christian woman waskidnapped and forcibly converted to Islam in Egypt. Irene Ibrahim Shehata, a 21-year-old medical student at Asyut National University disappeared between her mid-term exams. Her frantic family sought help from the police, but none was provided. Why? What was going on?Sadly, Irene's case is neither isolated nor rare. In Egypt, and other countries, Christian women are “disappeared,”kidnapped by Muslims, forcibly converted, married off and enslaved. How does this happen in the 21st century? Who is driving this trafficking of Christian women? What can be done to combat this evil?“Lindsay,” an associate with Coptic Solidarity, joins the Christian Emergency Podcast to shed light on this evil pattern playing out. She answers these questions and more as she brings this issue to light; an issue many would rather leave concealed in darkness. As you learn about the plight of these Christian women and girls, please pray for them. Pray for their families. Prayfor their release and return. And pray for their abductors, that in their hearts they may be convicted of their actions, repent and come to faith in Christ. Do you truly love the Lord? Do know Him? Do you recognize His power in your life? Do other people know the things He's done for you?
Big Idea: Which is better, unity or uniformity?1 Corinthians 12:12-26For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body—so also is Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and we were all given one Spirit to drink. Indeed, the body is not one part but many. If the foot should say, “Because I'm not a hand, I don't belong to the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I'm not an eye, I don't belong to the body,” it is not for that reason any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But as it is, God has arranged each one of the parts in the body just as he wanted. And if they were all the same part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don't need you!” Or again, the head can't say to the feet, “I don't need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that are weaker are indispensable. And those parts of the body that we consider less honorable, we clothe these with greater honor, and our unrespectable parts are treated with greater respect, which our respectable parts do not need. Instead, God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the less honorable, so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other. So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.I. Are spiritual gifts permanent? II. Should we pray for (specific) spiritual gifts?III. If all gifts are important, why are some called “miracles”?Next Steps: Believe: I need Jesus to give me the gift of new life today.Become: I will honor someone else's gifts this week. Be Sent: I will use my gift to help someone who is suffering this week.Discussion Questions: What do you consider the most important spiritual need in the church right now? Why?Have you taken a spiritual gift test more than once? If so, did it change? How does seeing another person honored make you feel? How can you grow personally when others are being honored instead of you?How does it make you feel to give someone else praise for their efforts? How can the church grow stronger when individuals better understand their personal gifts?Pray for the Holy Spirit to help you use your spiritual gift this week.

Episode Description Episode Description Sign up to receive this Unreached of the Day podcast sent to you: https://joshuaproject.net/people_groups/21130 Dear Friend, The Batak people of North Sumatra didn't have a written language until 1834. Today, they're one of the largest Christian populations in Indonesia, with over 6 million believers. The transformation happened because someone, a German missionary named Ludwig Nommensen, decided their spiritual poverty was unacceptable. That was 190 years ago. Today, 4,473 people groups are still waiting for their Ludwig Nommensen moment. The People Group Adoption Program launches today, and here's how it works: It meets you where you are. You're not being asked to become a missionary in the field (though if God calls you to that, we'll cheer you on). You're being invited to use your current gifts, prayer, advocacy, networking, research to support those who are already called to go. It's strategic. Every people group in our database has been vetted by researchers and field workers. These aren't randomly selected communities. They're the 100 largest frontier people groups, the populations with the least gospel access and the greatest potential for kingdom impact. It grows with your capacity. Whether you're adopting as a family, church, or organization, the commitment adjusts to what you can offer. Some will pray weekly. Others will fund translation projects. A few will end up moving to the field. All contributions matter. When you adopt a people group today, you'll receive: Immediate next steps for your specific adopted group A digital covenant card to mark your commitment Information about your frontier people group Regular updates as we develop more resources and connections Beyond the practical resources, you'll receive something harder to quantify: the knowledge that you're part of a strategic response to the most urgent spiritual need on our planet. The Batak people have been sending missionaries to unreached groups for decades now. Their story didn't end with their own transformation; it multiplied exponentially. Your adopted people group could be the next. Show less
QUOTES FOR REFLECTION“Grace puts its hand on the boasting mouth, and shuts it once for all.”~Charles Spurgeon “Certainly we should be very active in seeking God, and Jesus himself called us to ‘ask, seek, knock' in order to find him. Yet those who enter a relationship with God inevitably look back and recognize that God's grace had sought them out, breaking them open to new realities.”~Tim Keller “A man can no more take in a supply of grace for the future than he can eat enough today to last him for the next 6 months, nor can he inhale sufficient air into his lungs with one breath to sustain life for a week to come. We are permitted to draw upon God's store of grace from day to day as we need it.”~Dwight L. Moody “Your worst days are never so bad that you are beyond the reach of God's grace. And your best days are never so good that you are beyond the need of God's grace.”~Jerry Bridges “When the worst thing you could ever imagine happens, there is something that was not there in your imaginings—and that is the grace of God.”~Elisabeth Elliot SERMON PASSAGE7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. 9 Do not be led away by diverse and strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, which have not benefited those devoted to them. 10 We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat. 11 For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp. 12 So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. 13 Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. 14 For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. 15 Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. 16 Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. 17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you. 18 Pray for us, for we are sure that we have a clear conscience, desiring to act honorably in all things. 19 I urge you the more earnestly to do this in order that I may be restored to you the sooner.

It's not easy going out as the Kevin Cronin Band, I will tell you. You can't overestimate the power of the name REO Speedwagon and that ubiquitous, winged logo. They mean a lot to people.
