Today's soul story is called The Impossible Dream. It's a little snippet of my story and my experience when I ran my clothing and bag line, Bahian Gypsy Bags and Accessories. It's a prophetic call to rise, to walk by faith, and to embrace the welcoming timing of your becoming. Remember: You are loved. You are chosen. You are enough. The bible says there is a time for everything in Ecclesiastes 3:1. For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: I want you to remember the sun always sets in the west and no matter what you have been trying God's in it. Gods got it and if it's in alignment with the Father's will, then He will flourish it. So, stop running east when you can run to Him to help you finish it. The Impossible Dream is a Soul Story based on Faith, Sisterhood, and Divine Possibility A soul-stirring reflection on rising by faith, embracing divine timing, and saluting the women within. In a nutshell it's saying be resilient, keep going, press in, don't give up, change something if it's doesn't work and try another but submit your plans to God and do not quit.As I said before something is brewing. So, let me break it up for you. Into The Garden is our Podcast Ministry division. @Into The Garden - it's our line for Christian inspiration and many more. In this stirring soul story, we journey into the intertwined lives of two unnamed women. One mature, one young whose suffering and healing are divinely timed and spiritually symbolic. Drawn from Matthew 9:20–22, Mark 5:25–34, and Luke 8:43–48, Woman What's Your Issue? invites us to reflect on the bleeding woman and Jairus's twelve-year-old daughter, whose stories form a sacred “healing sandwich” of faith, desperation, and divine intervention. The bleeding woman often identified as Veronica pressed through the crowd after twelve long years of isolation, shame, and physical torment. Her touch of Jesus' garment wasn't just a reach for healing, it was a declaration of belief, a challenge to stigma, and a cry for restoration. Jairus's daughter, also twelve, lay dying while Veronica bled. One was young and fading, the other older and fighting. Yet both were touched by Jesus, one through a garment, the other through a word: “Talitha cumi” little girl, arise. Whether your issue is physical, emotional, relational, or spiritual, this is your invitation to press in, to rise up, and to believe again. So, Woman what's your issue? And are you ready to be touched, healed, and revived? We hope that you enjoy this episode. God bless you and Rise Up! Abound in Grace, under the shelter of His wings @Into The Garden

In this fun and feel-good episode, Shawna and LaLa chat with the legendary Macy Gray, who's celebrating 25 amazing years in the music industry! Macy opens up about her journey, her upcoming tour stop at Bethel Woods on November 8th, and gives fans a sneak peek at her new album that's currently in the works. The episode takes a nostalgic turn as Shawna and LaLa travel back to the 90's, reliving the music, memories, and moments that defined a generation. Meanwhile, Shawna admits she's not thrilled that it's getting cold out—and that Christmas is only 71 days away! She's been keeping warm (and healthy) thanks to her new Clearlight Sauna, which she says has made a huge difference in her migraines, muscles, and sleep. And of course, LaLa brings the laughs with her outrageous story about an Amazon delivery driver who “Free Willy'd” it through his truck window after spotting her dog, Cayman.

In this deeply reflective episode, I share the awakening that comes when we stop rushing and begin listening to our soul, our creativity, and the quiet whispers of transformation. Inspired by the quote, “Once she stopped rushing through life, she became aware of how much time she had to enjoy and do the things that sparked her creativity." This episode explores the metaphor of the brook: a gentle yet powerful flow of emotion, art, writing and divine calling. Through poetic storytelling and spiritual insight, I invite you to rediscover the well within you, where creativity, healing, and purpose reside. Whether you're consoling through grief, rediscovering joy, or simply longing to begin again or long to do something new, this episode is a tender reminder that your voice matters, your creative spirit matters, your art heals, your writings echo like musical notes and finds a landing pad in hearts of those tuning in or reading and your journey is special to you and those around you. "Let the brook speak. Let the well overflow. Let the exploring begin. Just… start and see a new lease of life enriching your path again." We hope that you enjoy this episode. God bless you and Rise Up! Abound in Grace, under the shelter of His wings @Into The Garden

Who told you who you had to be? And more importantly—are you still carrying labels that no longer reflect your truth? In this powerful episode of Cacao Conversations, we dive deep into the stories, roles, and identities we've taken on throughout life—some inherited, some chosen, and many simply absorbed. Labels like “the strong one,” “the good girl,” “the fixer,” or “too much” may have once protected us—but now? They might be the very thing holding us back from becoming who we really are. We'll talk about: How to recognize limiting labels you've outgrown Why releasing them can feel scary (and how to move through it with grace) Practices for rewriting your story in a way that aligns with your soul's truth And how to reclaim your power by naming yourself instead of letting the world define you This isn't just mindset work—it's sacred remembrance. Grab your cacao, tune in, and let's start peeling back the layers so you can step into the real you. Hey! Thanks for listening! If you liked this episode, please send us a message. In a world obsessed with visibility, applause, and performance, this soul story is a moment to pause, breathe, sip and reflect. It's a poetic reckoning with the cost of success when God is not present. We invite listeners to reflect on the silent ache behind the spotlight, the hollow echo of comparison and competition, and the objection of a loving God who whispers, “This is not your path.”This story explores the tension between worldly ambition, divine alignment, divine agreement and revealing how true success is not found in titles or trophies, but in surrender, obedience, and the stillness where transformation begins. It's a call to realign, to release, and to remember that even the smallest seed sown in faith can yield a harvest when God is part of the plan and to bring increase. A story for every weary soul chasing applause, this is your invitation to return to what matters most.Thank you for tuning in, showing your support and sharing this podcast around. Some conversations touch something so deep within us, we know we'll never quite be the same again. This was one of those conversations. In this powerful and poetic episode, host Elizabeth Mintun sits down with Mary Reynolds Thompson, an award-winning author, spiritual ecology pioneer, poetry therapy facilitator, and wild soul guide. Mary's life and work invite us into a space of reconnection: to the Earth, to story, and to the sacred wildness within. From her enchanted childhood memories in a remote Italian fishing village to a life-changing encounter with the ocean while newly sober, Mary shares the deeply personal stepping stones that led her to her life's work: helping others live their wild soul stories. This is not just a conversation - it's an initiation. An invitation to return home to your wild self.Key TakeawaysYou are earth in human form. Mary reminds us that we didn't arrive on Earth - we emerged from it. Recognizing ourselves as part of nature, not separate from it, is essential to healing both ourselves and the planet. This perspective reconnects us to a sense of belonging, purpose, and deep interconnection with all life. The wild soul speaks through archetypes. Through five powerful Earth archetypes - Desert, Forest, Ocean & River, Mountain, and Grassland - we can better understand our emotional and spiritual landscapes. Each archetype reflects a state of being and offers guidance for healing, creativity, and transformation.Enchantment is a choice and a practice. We can reclaim wonder and meaning in a disenchanted world by turning toward the living Earth, story, and ritual. Whether watching a sunset or journaling with intention, small moments of presence can reawaken the wild, creative, soulful parts of us that modern life often suppresses.Resources Learn more about 1:1 Coaching with Elizabeth Mintun here. Watch this episode on YouTube.Jerry Colonna is a world-renowned and highly sought-after executive coach. After a successful early career in venture capital and private equity, he found his calling in coaching. Known in some circles as “the CEO whisperer” or “the Yoda of Silicon Valley,” he brings a depth of soul-rooted presence, love, and fierce advocacy for the disinherited and the unseen. How did he get this way? Through a long journey of meeting his own fear and trauma with love, of course (see his book Reboot for that story). And through decades of personal work and dedicated spiritual practice (primarily Buddhism). There's also a lesser-known aspect of Jerry's journey, which I personally see as vitally important: he traveled the nature-based journey of soul initiation. I believe the tremendous contribution that Jerry is making to the building of a better world — including his groundbreaking books and his work with leaders and teams — is largely empowered by the journey he went on to find and embody his soul's true purpose.I was really excited to get to draw out more from Jerry about his experience of that journey in this podcast. He describes it as going from being “dismembered” and “a complete mess” (as a financially successful investor in his 30s) to becoming “re-membered.” To remembering himself.Jerry shares how at one point the Earth literally pulled him down and swallowed him whole, initiating a wakeup call that brought him into contact with his deeper self and eventually led him onto a vision quest.Jerry's story is a deeply moving example of what's possible through self-discovery and self-healing in nature. We discuss how the part of himself he discovered on that quest — the essence of his soul's unique gift — has informed and empowered his life and work since.Jerry and I also unpack how the lessons learned from what helps us make it through our own personal dark times in a good way can also inform how we collectively approach the current dark times we are witnessing on the global stage right now.–Links & ResourcesConnect with Brooks on Instagram or LinkedInSoulful Impact: soulfulimpact.coCheck out Jerry's coaching firm, RebootRead Jerry's two books, Reboot and ReunionConnect with Jerry on Instagram or LinkedIn–Chapters00:00 - Introduction: A Journey of Remembering02:30 - Early Years: Disconnection and Depression07:30 - Wakeup Call: Falling into the Crevasse11:45 - The Meaning of Soul16:30 - Vision Quest: Purging Pain, Finding Purpose24:30 - Integration: An Ongoing Process28:15 - Non-Directive Coaching: Allowing Emergence32:00 - Reunion: Belonging and Our Ancestors38:30 - Navigating the Dark Times44:15 - The Work That Is Never Done48:45 - Finding Joy Amidst the Darkness54:00 - Remembering Our Role in the Symphony59:30 - Final Reflections: Be Excessively Gentle With Yourself—Get newsletter updates & future episodes delivered to your inbox: Subscribe to Soulful Impact on Substack Get full access to Soulful Impact at www.soulfulimpact.blog/subscribe

The winding and interconnected story of Mark Michel, Musto jackets, Soulhub, Drake Passage, Antartica, and icebergs.Carmen Rendell reminisces on the stories shared across continents and, now over a decade ago. Some stories should be shared further, and this is one of them. Not just because it highlights the change in our climate, or the remarkable work of Mark and the team in Antartica recording the sounds and images of the icebergs, but because of how the story is told by Mark, and how their experience and his talent transcends the air waves.I wonder at what point we became so estranged from our relationship with this Earth. You're instantly transported to Australis, their vessel, and on the boat with Mark and the team. Antarctica is a place not meant for humankind. colourful and often tragic history reflects this. It is not that we are unwelcome here, more that we are not, perhaps, natural. In simple terms, it a beautiful tale, including how Carmen and Mark connected across the oceans, and still having yet to meet, brings you on board to relive how these Lincoln, Yoko and Ernest icebergs and their micro-environments end up projected onto the Auckland Museum. Please do share and let us know what you felt as you listen to Mark's story. We'd love to know what it evokes in you. Carmen Rendell recorded a short back story ahead of her conversation with painter Sue Rapley, as their connection through Soulhub goes back to our Soulhub Journal No 3, and the web of unfolding felt worthy of good air time. It shows the magic of Soulhub and the beauty of serendipitous moments in not just Carmen and Sue's life but all those touched by her artwork, the journal and Soulhub. And these are just the ones we know about. Our entwining story, leads us up to the present day, as we create our Soulful Meadows Painting Retreat this May (17-18 May 2025). What's missing in the story is Sue's raison d'etre. What led her to paint? What does she experience as she goes through her process, and for someone who spend decades estranged from her passion, how did she find her way back to it. It's a surprise story that took her back to art college, more than 30 years ago, and a squiggly path of many industries before she re-found the paintbrush. A supportive husband Dave, and a mentor who arrives just as the student was ready, meant that Sue's love of the sea and desire to sit with her thoughts and creativity, finally found the space and canvas to be explored. It's finding how you can create something that has real meaning and that's actually really coming from your heart and from your soul, really. We hope you enjoy both spectrums, the introduction and then our podcast together. For more information on Sue and her work, please do check out her website and instagram. And to access the brochure for our Soulful Meadows Painting Retreat click here. How would you cope with a death threat on your family? And as a consequence you might move houses, careers and even countries to find safety. As Kenny did. And yet safety is also an internal emotional feeling that has to be witnessed, held and expressed to make sense and find a home.Kenny Mammarella D-Cruz returns to the Soulhubbers Podcast, this time with Carmen Rendell to share his personal journey of escaping to refugee camps in Italy and the UK, away from Idi Amin's dictatorship of Uganda and finally to the remote Welsh town of Fishguard. He talks into how, as a 60 year old, the stories he puts to feelings still spook him. How he falls apart and comes together again and again. He shares intimate details of how he's finding tools through his life, such as breathing and deeper self understanding to let go of his unhealthy mental and physical coping mechanisms. We talk about suicide, feeling feelings and trauma, and how he gets to his golden shadow, via the dark shadow.Kenny very much follows in the community sharing as his father did when he first arrived in the UK.He brought hockey here, he took it to school, so now it's a big deal in the area. He used to play hockey for Uganda. He started the Friendship Circle for older and lonely people. I think that was 30 years ago. He started a charity. He started and was the first Goan Mayor in the UK, and in the year, the bicentenary of the last invasion of Britain, which was our town. It's a beautifully insightful sharing of how ‘doing the work' can change you and enables you to go on to work and support others go through their life challenges, trauma and dark nights of the soul. June 12, 1928. The great Blues singer Ma Rainey steps up to the microphone at a studio in Chicago. She's there to record a scandalous song called “Prove It On Me Blues.” It's her answer to the rumor that she'd once attended a party with a bunch of other half-clothed women – a party that got busted by the cops. It's a rumor she doesn't deny. The song is just the latest of Rainey's boundary-pushing moves. Her audience, and her record label, eat it up. How did Ma Rainey talk about sex and sexuality through the Blues? And in the America of that time, how was a boldness like hers even possible?Special thanks to our guests: Darryl Bullock, author of Queer Blues: The Hidden Figures of Early Blues Music, which will be published this July; Dr. Steven Lewis, curator of Music and Performing Arts at the National Museum of African American History and Culture; and Dr. Tyina Steptoe, history professor at the University of Arizona and host of “Soul Stories” on KXCI Tucson. Thanks also to Dr. Cookie Woolner, history professor at the University of Memphis and author of The Famous Lady Lovers: Black Women & Queer Desire Before Stonewall, which will be published in September.
