Welcome back, everyone—Connor with Honor here, your friendly First Responder turned Realtor, bringing you another deep dive into the Santa Clarita real estate world! Today, we're discussing a critical shift in our market: the rising number of listings and why some sellers may be overshooting their pricing by using “future values” rather than current market comps.First, we'll break down why inventory levels are climbing more swiftly than usual this season. Is it a sign of a changing market, or just a post-holiday bump? We'll talk about how buyer demand still exists—but isn't always willing to chase overpriced listings. Overconfidence could be costing sellers valuable exposure and offers, resulting in stale days on market and eventual price reductions. We'll also cover what it really means to base your price on data from 90 to 180 days in the future. How do you time this right without alienating potential buyers? You'll hear direct tips on making sure your property stands out amidst increasing competition, whether that's a fresh coat of paint or a fair list price anchored by realistic comparable sales. Then, it's off to the buyer's corner: Is that newly increased inventory a golden opportunity for you? Yes and no. We'll discuss the nuances of negotiating in a market that hasn't fully tipped toward a “buyer's market,” but is certainly friendlier than last year's ultra-competitive frenzy. We'll also look at potential interest-rate movements, the importance of pre-approval, and how to zero in on the listings that match your goals before someone else beats you to it.Finally, don't forget to check out my in-depth blog post athttps://www.santaclaritaopenhouses.com/listings-are-increasing-but-sellers-are-pricing-for-too-far-in-the-future-2025for a written breakdown of today's topics, along with helpful city-by-city links. What he or she has at home will not keep them there. It will not keep them from cheating. You may think you're such fine wine that he or she won't drink anything else. Wrong! Nothing about you will keep a cheater from cheating. I'm sorry, but it's fact! Many people have beautiful families at home but will risk losing their families because of the unhealed and unresolved inside of self, that causes them to seek things outside of the home and their relationships. It has nothing to do with you. They'll say they love you but what's going on inside has a stronghold on them and until they choose to allow healing to occur they will continue to seek after self-gratification, risking all they have. People have to fall in love with self, grow and mature mentally to become better people.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/relationships-and-relatable-life-chronicles--4126439/support.

The tables are turned for the first episode of series 9 - host Penny Wincer is being interviewed by author Caro Giles about her new book Home Matters. We talk about what draws Penny to write about home, digging beneath the surface of homes to find meaning behind the choices we make and how objects become portraits and tell stories about our lives and identities. We also talk about weaving memoir and non-fiction together, making choices about the personal and political aspects of the book and the challenges of writing and publishing a book that doesn't fit neatly into categories.LinksHome Matters - Penny WincerTwelve Moons - Caro GilesAll The Houses I've Ever Lived In - Kieran YatesThe Lonely City - Olivia LaingMonkey Grip - Helen GarnerPenny on Substack pennywincer.substack.comCaro on Substack carogiles.substack.com
The importance of intimacy in marriage can't be overstated! Oten, however, we confine “intimacy” to sex. Sex is definitely included, but not all that intimacy is about. Eric and Gena spend time in this Home Matters episode discussing the importance of intimacy outside the bedroom—-the communication, the touches, the time couples spend together, and more; all of which ultimately lead to better intimacy inside the bedroom! It's a fact—-intimacy should be going on all day, every day!

Although Brian and Heather's home-build is showing apparent progress, they are feeling loads of stress from the mistakes that keep surfacing on the project. The problems on site are not only becoming costly, but dangerous for the family now. The home is a living organism and for it to function properly, there is a lot more than just following plans, to have a successful project. Toner and Curtis discuss building performance and the consequences of short-cuts which are commonly done because builders and home-owners are making cost-cutting decisions without discussing the implications of those choices on functionality of the home. It's easy to think it's okay to hide our crappy moods, temper and mess behind closed doors in our home where others except our own family can't see it but our home is a small representation of who we are and our life on a larger scale. I never really understood how this could matter or impact our life until some recent realizations. We can dismiss it or use it as a small stepping stone to make the changes we want to see in our life. The outside world will draw us “out” with the attention, compliments but how we are in our own home has a ripple effect on our entire life. Listen to this week's episode as I unpack all this! We've all heard the famous quotes about home: "Home is where the heart is!" "Home is a feeling!" "There's no place like home!" All of these are true, but WHY? Why does home matter and why should we care so much about nurturing the heart of the home? "A home can be beautiful, but if it lacks heart - it's nothing more than an empty shell." Home is: * a RESPITE from the heaviness of the world around us * a REFLECTION of you, telling your story and sharing your family's history * a place for nurturing RELATIONSHIPS most dear to you * RELIABLE where there's safety in predictability, consistency and stability * a place for RE-IMAGINING how we want to shape and share our futures //Links mentioned in show:// Email: figandfarmathome@gmail.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/figandfarm/ Facebook Group: https://bit.ly/design101group

James Navé here. It's my pleasure to welcome Paris-based French chef and NY Times author Susan Loomis to a Twice 5 Miles Radio conversation titled Dancing Tomatoes. Suppose you have an interest in French cuisine. In that case, you may already know Susan's name. Susan is an award-winning author with fourteen books to her credit, a professionally trained chef, and a brick and mortar cooking school proprietor until the last year. I first met Susan in 2006, and I was doing an Imaginative Storm workshop in Paris, which she attended. Susan and I became friends right away. She invited me to visit her brick-and-mortar studio/house in Louvier, France, west of Paris, about two hours by train. It turns out her home was a former nunnery built hundreds of years ago. I suppose the nuns left an excellent vibe because Susan's kitchen was one most welcoming places I've ever been. When you listen to this conversation, you'll get a sense of why her house was so warm and happy. Susan is an accomplished author and journalist. Included among her titles are THE GREAT AMERICAN SEAFOOD COOKBOOK, FARMHOUSE COOKBOOK, CLAMBAKES, AND FISH FRIES, FRENCH FARMHOUSE COOKBOOK, ITALIAN FARMHOUSE COOKBOOK, (all Workman Publishing, Inc.) and ON RUE TATIN (Broadway Books. 2001) a narrative about her life in France, with recipes which won the IACP best literary food book for 2002, TARTE TATIN (Harper Collins UK, 2003), the sequel, COOKING AT HOME ON RUE TATIN, (William Morrow, May 2005) and NUTS IN THE KITCHEN (William Morrow 2010), IN A FRENCH KITCHEN (Penguin, 2015). Conversely, creating a space that you feel relaxed and happy in, those positive emotions affect the rest of our lives too.19:27 - Tasha feels strongly that when you really love your home, it gives you the energy to take care of your space. You may be tired, but you have more motivation to clear the dishes out of the sink or make your bed when those spaces make you feel joy. Remember, “home is a feeling, not a place.”25:50 - What Tasha and Joe are going through right now with the stress of their kitchen renovation is a perfect example of how loving your home matters for your mental health. Tasha even got a comment on Instagram from a woman who had gone through chemotherapy and a kitchen reno… guess which she claimed was harder? 29:15 - Tasha encourages people not to feel selfish or guilty for wanting to create a home that they really love, which she herself has experienced. When we feel at our best and feel good about our home base, we can do more for everyone else and help be a part of the solution for our larger world problems. Dr. Barbara Corona, psychotherapist and President of the Board of Hudson Valley Home Matters (HVHM), and Ruth Kaba, a member of the Board, discuss their nonprofit “aging-in-place organization,” dedicated to helping those over 50 remain in their homes. Many senior citizens for various reasons need help to continue living active, independent lives but do not want to move to an assisted living facility, away from their local friends and family. Home Matters recognizes the importance of retaining senior wisdom and other contributions in the local community. HVHM is part of a national movement modeled after Beacon Hill in Boston, Staying Put in New Canaan, Connecticut, and Capital Hill Village in Washington, DC, all well established organizations. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/radiorotary/support

Throughout the years, I have always been on the hunt for how to spend my time. I want to be intentional with how I use my time. I want to make sure that I am using my time wisely and with purpose. But this gets hard when my days consist mostly of ordinary, mundane moments. I go from changing diapers to making breakfast, to do dishes, to cleaning the bathrooms, then to lunch prep, and the whole cycle starts over again. Today I had the chance to sit down with Courtney Reissig and discuss our importance among these mundane moments. Listen in! Listen to the Podcast: We also recorded this blog post as an audio podcast. But it's in those moments that we have a powerful opportunity to serve and love God. The problem? It's often so hard to see that! One of the books I read last year that had a big impact was Glory in the Ordinary. The tagline to the book is Why Your Work in the Home Matters to God. The first ever pod cast with Chris Dunham and Dr. Nick Fanning, this was the inaugural for Home Matters. This covers what we're going to talk about, I will share these a few times a week. Some will be less than 2-3 minutes, others longer. My target is to get you engaged and make you empowered with the information I am sharing, from investing in home ownership, to recognizing the signs your kids may be struggling in life and everything in between.
Reading is one of my favorite past times! But I've gone through seasons in the last few years where I haven't read as much as I wanted. So in 2017 I set a reading goal for my year for the first time! While I didn't actually reach my insane goal of 104 books, I did end the year with 67 read! And I am just fine with that. Out of the 67 books, I read last year, I came across some amazing ones. So here are my top 10 books I read in 2017. Listen to the Podcast: We also recorded this blog post as an audio podcast. If you want to listen in instead of reading, click play below or do a combination of both And don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast in iTunes. My top 10 Books from 2017: Refresh: Embracing a Grace-Paced Life in a World of Endless Demands - Shona Murray I read Refresh near the end of December 2017 and funny enough, I had already picked it as my word for 2018! So this book was a perfect fit for me as I was contemplating what my year of REFRESHMENT was going to look like. You can read or listen in all about my word for 2018 here. This book takes a look at what we do when our lives get too full and too busy. It's full of practical suggestions and ideas, but my favorite part of the book was it's spiritual look at how we run our lives. The author again and again makes the case that we need to rely on God more within our daily lives and less and less upon ourselves. There was a lot in this book that I really needed to hear as I head into 2018. The Life Giving Table: Nurturing Faith through Feasting, One Meal at a Time - Sally Clarkson The Life Giving Table is a book about hospitality and serving those who eat at your table, particularly your family! There are a loooot of suggestions in this book and I'm only looking at implementing a very small fraction of the ideas for this season of life with little kids. And many of those suggestions I'm modifying even further to make work. Sally presents a very ideal look of home and table life and I think it's a great idea to pick and choose which ones will work for your family. I did walk away from reading this book with new found encouragement to make family mealtime special. I interview Sally in the fall about her book. You can listen to that interview here. The Tech-Wise Family: Everyday Steps for Putting Technology in Its Proper Place - Andy Crouch I think this is a must-read book for all families! It's all about healthy and responsible approaches to technology in the home. I think this is a vital message in today's culture and family life and it's only going to get more important as technology integrates itself even more in everyday life. While we LOVE technology in our home and even run an online business, balance is the key! We had a lot of good things to think about from this book and several of his suggestions we are incorporating into our family. Jason and I both read the book in August. It was great to get to both read it and discuss it along the way. Glory in the Ordinary: Why Your Work in the Home Matters to God - Courtney Reissig Most of what I do in my home each day is boring and ordinary. I bounce between scrubbing toilets, making dinner, and folding laundry. It's very easy within these routines to wonder, "What's the point in all of this?? Am I really serving God through all this mundane?" Courtney beautifully addresses this heart problem and directs us again and again to view our work in light of serving God and His Glory! It's a quick easy read but will give you a lot to think about. None Like Him: 10 Ways God Is Different from Us by Jen Wilkin Jen has long been one of my favorite authors (and I'm looking forward to the new book she has coming out in May)! None Like Him is a great book that takes a look at 10 attributes of God. If you are wanting to learn more about God and his character,

Theology For the Rest of Us | Quick Answers to the Questions About God and the Bible
Many segments of our contemporary society do not value work within the home. Other segments even look down on mothers that choose to stay at-home with the kids instead of "contributing" to society. But the contributions you make at home, for fathers and mothers, matter significantly to God. In this episode, Kenny interviews author, speaker, and blogger Courtney Reissig about her newest book Glory in the Ordinary about the meaning and value of mundane tasks in our homes. When the work of the home fills our days, it is easy to get disillusioned and miss God’s great and grand purpose for our work. As image bearers of God, we were created to work. We contribute to society, and bring order out of chaos in every moment; no matter how small the tasks may seem.
