The NFL World and Swifties alike were stunned by the retirement of Jason Kelce after his team was throttled in the first round of the playoffs by the Buccaneers. We reflect on the career of one of the best to ever snap a ball between his legs. Plus, security at the arena formally known as Staple Center needs to step it up after a fan was able to walk right up to LeBron James on the bench and put his hands on him. Thankfully for Bron he still has a pretty good stiff arm. We discuss the the scary potential for players in NBA arenas these days. And, Bill Goldberg is happy to send his son off to college. Especially when he's sending him to play for one of his best friends in the world, his former Atlanta Falcons teammate Deion Sanders. Erica Melancon Fox, Executive Director of the Maison Freetown African American History Museum, joins us today to share her incredible journey. A musician, a historian, and a lover of a good story, Erica shares stories that are golden. Her parents always supported her journey in music, dance, and all things that allowed her to share her spirit. Our community is so much better off because of their investment in her talent! Highly accomplished in the world of performing arts, Erica is a professional songwriter who has sung with Rice University's Orchestra, served for eight weeks as lead actress and singer in “Ain't Misbehavin” at the National World War 2 Museum, and toured with various national musical companies. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juaGTXOpIig Erica Melancon moved to LA right after high school and attended Occidental College in Los Angeles, acquiring a record deal right off the bat. She had a college sponsorship, but no money to speak of but wanted to follow her dream of being a recording artist. She had no manager, and knew no one, but was guided by God to follow her calling. She learned very early on how to be a business person as she also learned what it was like to be 'canned!' She was discovered when she sang the National Anthem at the Staple Center in Los Angeles. Her journey led her to be a part of the Motown productions of the Funk Brothers, a talent trove that wrote all the classic songs we love. Erica is classically trained but loves all types of music, including Country! Erica has opened for shows at Acadiana Center for the Arts and Festival International de Louisiane. She received a 2020 Grammy Consideration for Best R&B song: "I Still Love You" on her This is 2020 album. "I feel like I've lived many lifetimes. My life is a song. That is the basis of everything I do. I have always loved sound and writing and literature since I was a four-year-old kid. I was always outside singing and didn't realize I was writing songs when I was singing to the trees and the birds and making shows and performing with my imaginary friends. My love for literature for song came from my father who appreciated all types of music. She had the opportunity to interview Calvin Moret, the last surviving Louisiana member of World War II's famed Tuskegee Airmen, an accomplished soldier and woodworker who played down what his talents were. "It makes you wonder what are my talents...what more can I do?" Erica learned that Lafayette still had a surviving member of the WWII Battalion, all-black Female soldier of the 6888th (SIX TRIPLE EIGHT) Central Postal Directory Battalion, Major Fannie Melancon, and pursued interviewing her to pursue the knowledge of people of that time period. We ran into each other recently at a tribute of the WWII all-black Female soldiers of the 6888th (SIX TRIPLE EIGHT) Central Postal Directory Battalion at the Freetown Maison museum. Erica makes incredible contributions to our community each and every day and it is a pleasure to share her story!

Hihihihi…. A bientôt, Greg et Adri. timeline : SOMMAIRE: 00 :00 :00 INTERVIEW JP ALART : 00 :07 :12 MAITRE MAGOUILLE : 00 :49 :14 INTERVIEW KIKI : 00 :55 :15 INTERVIEW REMI REVERCHON : 00 :89 :05 CONCOURS : 01:44:50

Rosie Rivera is one of the most influential and inspirational Latinas in the world. As the bestselling author of God is Your Defender, an international speaker and co-host of marriage podcast The Power of Us, Rosie uses her voice to give hope to fellow survivors of sexual abuse. Today, Rosie shares her painful journey and how she found serenity including: the tragic loss of her beloved sister, internationally acclaimed singer Jenni Rivera the trauma of being sexually abused as a child finding peace in surrendering pain This conversation will empower you to face life's minor or most hurtful situations with courage, compassion + perseverance. SHOW NOTES: As a family of eight living in a two-bed one-bath home, Rosie didn't recognize how poverty-stricken until she was blessed later in life. Jenni Rivera is known as the most important female figure and top selling female artist in Regional Mexican music, and the first to sell out Los Angeles' Staple Center. Robbed of her voice: At nine, and overcome with anger, Rosie confronted the family member that was being sexually abusive. At 16, Rosie refused to remain silent and took action. “For 18 years I battled a trauma and depression because of that sexual abuse. Once I was healed I was also set free and I wanted to share that hope with all survivors so I began speaking to anyone that would listen.” “One of the biggest weapons an abuser can have is our silence.” Rosie empowers her three children to know the value + beauty of their bodies and fosters strong avenues of communication. Healing is your responsibility: After 18 years of seeking revenge, Rosie found herself living in anger. Before surrendering the pain, Rosie stresses the importance of validating the emotions. After Jenni's tragic death and the difficult aftermath, Rosie had to vulnerably share her brokenness with her new husband Abel which strengthened their respect for each other. When faced with adversity, Rosie has trust that God works in his own time. “Dream little girl dreams.” Get a copy of Rosie Rivera's God is Your Defender here. Life after trauma: Whether divorce, bankruptcy, natural disaster or anything in between — we've all faced trauma. Expert psychologist Dr. Laurie Nadel shares proven techniques to find healing on ep. 91. ROSIE RIVERA'S LIVE INSPIRED 7 What is the best book you've ever read? Other than the Bible, East of Eden by John Steinbeck. What is a characteristic or trait that you possessed as a child that you wish you still exhibited today? My ability to forgive quickly. Your house is on fire, all living things and people are out. You have the opportunity to run in and grab one item. What would it be? A folder with all our birth certificates, pictures, drawings, USBs with everything. You are sitting on a bench overlooking a gorgeous beach. You have the opportunity to have a long conversation with anyone living or dead. Who would it be? I'd love to have one more conversation with my sister Jenni Rivera and ask her what emotions she had about my sexual abuse. She took care of me so well that I never realized how much it could have affected her. What is the best advice you've ever received? “You could sit there and pity yourself. Or you can get off your butt and we can do something about it.” What advice would you give your 20-year-old self? It gets better, there is truly a lot of people that love you but begin loving yourself first. It's been said that all great people can have their lives summed up in one sentence. How do you want yours to read? She was a bold woman of faith who loved well. *** About our sponsor: Keeley Companies wholeheartedly believes that if you get the people right -the results will follow. November 28, 2020 Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. Fight NIGHT! Exhibition In LA at the STAPLE CENTER.. FRONT ROWE with some of my exclusive friends and Mike Tyson Recapping some of his memorable moments. Yolanda Whittaker aka YO-YO is a Grammy-nominated American rapper and actress. Much of her music has advocated female empowerment, denouncing the frequent sexism found in hip-hop music. She is the protege of gangsta rapper Ice Cube. Yo-Yo dubbed her crew the IBWC, which stood for the Intelligent Black Woman’s Coalition. Yo-Yo first appeared as a guest on Ice Cube’s AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted album in 1990, on the track “It’s a Man’s World.” Cube returned the favor by appearing on “You Can’t Play with My Yo-Yo,” which was on Yo-Yo’s 1991 debut album, Make Way for the Motherlode. Her follow-up in 1992, Black Pearl was well-received by critics, partly because of its focus on positive messages and uplifting themes that contrasted the popular gangsta rap style. However, despite a plethora of renowned producers such as DJ Muggs, this did not translate into a hit with mainstream hip-hop audiences, and the album’s sales were considered a disappointment. Less than a year later, released her follow-up “You Better Ask Somebody”. The final track on the album was her third recorded hip-hop duet with Ice Cube, “The Bonnie and Clyde Theme”. Yo-Yo’s next album was 1996’s “Total Control”. In 1998, she finished her fifth album, Ebony, but it was not released. In 2008, her single “Can’t Play With My Yo-Yo” was ranked number 92 on VH1’s 100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs. Later that year, she performed with MC Lyte, the Lady of Rage, and Salt-n-Pepa at the BET Hip Hop Awards. As of 2009, she has been at work on an EP, titled My Journey to Fearless: The Black Butterfly. In 1991, YoYo appeared in John Singleton’s feature film debut, Boyz n the Hood. She also appeared in Who’s the Man?, Menace II Society, Strapped, and Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. She had a recurring role on the television show Martin as Keylolo, the sidekick of comedian Martin Lawrence’s alter ego Sheneneh; and appeared on other TV shows, including the Fox network’s New York Undercover. She has also made many cameo appearances, including the music video for Missy Elliott’s “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)”. YoYo has also appeared in the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, as a voice actor. A meeting YoYo had in 1994 enabled her to help enrich children’s lives today. It was more than a decade ago that the pioneering Los Angeles rapper spoke before Congress on behalf of rap. While in Washington, she met U.S. Congresswoman Maxine Waters, who represents California’s 35th Congressional District, which includes YoYo’s native South Central Los Angeles. With the help of Representative Waters’ Community Build program, YoYo launched “YoYo’s School Of Hip Hop,” a seven-week summer program designed to teach 100 low-income children hip-hop dance and how to write rap. A mother herself, YoYo knows the importance of keeping kids busy in a fun and productive manner, but also in a way that will entertain their minds. YoYo aims to inspire and reach out to kids that otherwise might not have such opportunities.

We are sharing the actual four-day itinerary of our Southern California trip. In this trip, we had a great time and managed to see a lot in a very short amount of time. We spent some time in LA, a day in San Diego, and even made it South of the Border in Tijuana. People often ask how we do so much in such a short amount of time. It really comes down to planning. We wanted to get the most out of our trip, so we were very mindful of the time we had. If you want to make a similar trip, we share what we did each and every day, If you don’t want to plan, you can just follow our itinerary to get the most out of your trip. Show Notes [02:25] We took this trip from Indianapolis. We knew we would gain a little time, because we were going from Eastern Time to Pacific Time, so we left early. [03:25] If your flight is longer than three hours, upgrade if you can. [03:58] We had our nephew LJ with us. We were a party of five. [04:44] We had been to New York, Chicago, Florida, and we were trying to find somewhere in the US to go. We decided to go to California. [06:04] We arrived at LAX. We rented a Jeep Liberty. It was a little cozy in the back for the kids. You may want to make sure, you are able to get a larger car if you have multiple people. [08:42] We knew San Diego was only a couple of hours away, so we decided to go there too. [09:25] We stayed at the Hampton Inn SeaWorld location. We had two double beds and a sleeper sofa. [10:02] We took the Pacific Coast Highway out of LA to San Diego, and made a stop at Manhattan Beach. [11:43] We had lunch at In-N-Out Burger. We drove up in to the hills and took some amazing pictures. We left that day open to explore and not have to rush. [14:02] You have to give yourself flexibility when you have a plan. [14:48] We got to San Diego in the afternoon and checked in at the desk. The clerk suggested we go to Tijuana. She gave Chris directions to a restaurant in Puerto Nuevo that had butter fried lobster. [16:56] We head over the border and lost cell phone service. We were in Mexico with no GPS or map. We sat outside overlooking the Pacific. A mariachi played and charged a fee. [19:52] The fried lobster wasn't the best. The sun was setting as we left. There is a line to get back into the US. [21:28] There's bumper to bumper traffic, but the line has people selling things and banging on your car windows. It was a great life lesson for the kids. [24:29] We got back late, went to sleep, and our itinerary really starts now. [24:39] We ate breakfast at the hotel and went to Sea World. They had roller coasters, and we saw the whales. There are touch tanks and shows. [26:45] Sea World has an all-day dining deal that is a great deal. It was $29.99 for adults and $18.99 for the children. [27:49] We spent a day at SeaWorld, then we headed over to the Hyatt Place in Anaheim. We had a main bedroom and then another room with a bunk bed and a pull-out couch. [29:44] We used the Go City Los Angeles card. The Go Card can be a big money-saver. [31:19] We asked the kids what they wanted to do. We went over the list of things to do and bought the Go Card at home. [33:06] It took us two hours to get to Hollywood. We went to the walk of fame, the TCL Chinese Theatre, the Dolby Theatre, and a Hollywood movie star tour on a bus. [37:14] That night they were filming the ESPYS at the Staple Center. We ate at a restaurant with outdoor seating that was right along the path where the athletes were walking, and we got to see everyone. Then we went back to the hotel. [41:25] The next day was our Universal Studios Tour. It was a lot of fun. We were also able to fit in the Warner Brothers tour. We even went on the set of Friends. [44:35] We also went into a sound effects room were they took a movie without sound and then layered in each sound until there was a cacophony of sounds. Each portion of sound is recorded separately. [45:52] We then spent the afternoon in Venice Beach and rented bikes. We were able to layer this in before heading to the airport. We even saw a man levitating. [48:35] Our flight wasn't until 10:00 pm, so we went to Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles. [50:40] Quick recap: Pacific Coast, In-N-Out Burger, Tijuana, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, Warner Bros. Studios, Hollywood Movie Star Tour, Dolby Theatre Tour, ESPYS outside the Staples Center, Venice Beach, and Roscoe's. SASSY AT THE CENTER!!! This was the modern day Malice at the Palace. A glorified prepillow fight between two teams that had no intentions on throwing a single punch. Regardless I loved every second of it. The masters dive into Rockets and Clippers at the Staple Center, some real UFC fights, and potential Super Bowl match ups.
