SUMMARY: 2-5 CAV TOC In the tenth episode of this Podcast Series about the Battle of Sadr City on April 4th, 2004, I sat down with Specialist Stephen Ellis. Assigned to HHC 2-5 CAV, SPC Ellis worked in the Battalion TOC (Tactical Operations Center) Lancer Mike. Military TOC's are the nerve centers of the battlefield, the Command and Control Centers where operation plans and decisions are made. This is also the hub of communication and the callsign you call when you are outside the wire and need help! We all take away our own stories from our time in Iraq. We have little memories mementos and things that take us back to that time on the ground. In many ways, a lot if not all of us lost a piece of our innocence. Sometimes we lose that innocence behind the mic, hearing your brothers on the other end in desperate need of help with little you can personally do to help other than your job manning that mic. We’re joined by special guest, Stephen Ellis, Co-Founder and CEO of Pipeline, former professional gamer, and husband to Natalie Ellis, BossBabe’s CEO. One of the most highly anticipated and requested episodes, we’re taking you behind the scenes into their marriage and what it’s like when two ambitious, goal driven entrepreneurs get married.     If you’re an entrepreneur in a relationship with another entrepreneur, then you know how the pressure of owning your own business and the responsibilities that come with being a CEO can impact your relationship. Tune in to hear Natalie and Stephen’s journey from marrying each other after just 4 months of meeting, to building their own businesses, and moving to Los Angeles.    We’re diving deep into the routines and rituals they’ve put into place to prevent neglect, and how they’ve learned to communicate with each other (because we all know communication is key in any relationship!).   Stephen also shares his story of being a professional gamer, landing a corporate role at Facebook to becoming the CEO of his own company.   Join us and hear his advice on how to protect your energy, and set your priorities and boundaries so you can be present in your relationship.   Links: Get two free months of Skillshare premium membership and receive access to unlimited to over 1000+ classes: www.skillshare.com/bossbabe    Follow: @bossbabe.inc @iamnatalie @snoopeh

https://terriblehappytalks.com/Stephen is a proud Koori man of the Warumunga Kamilaroi nation, father, motivational speaker, skateboarder and double amputee (legs). Stephen grew up in a low socio-economic area on the south east coast of New South Wales Australia. Aside from being a highly dedicated father, and skateboarder, Stephen is passionate about advocating for, and raising awareness about, the pandemic of mental illness that continues to sweep the world, particularly in males. Known as “Stove” to his friends, Stephen’s skills on a skateboard are mind-blowing. You just have to watch his clips on Youtube to see his level of dedication and his ability to adapt. Upon meeting Stephen, I sensed his innate sincerity immediately, a person that is comfortable in his skin, empathetic and supportive of others. In this week's episode, Stephen is with me to share his journey, challenges, experiences and hopes for the future. It is that time of year. Last year, The Kessel Toy Run gathered nearly a thousand Star Wars toys for hospitalized children and their siblings. The toys were delivered to the hospitalized children by costumed Star Wars heroes thanks to The Saber Guild Temple Prime! The children’s spirits were lifted, the siblings and the children bonded over Star Wars and us fans made a difficult situation into a beautiful moment for those families.   This year The Kessel Toy Run is back and it is an opportunity to share our love of Star Wars and do something really special for some little fans that could use our help so let us do it again! Unopened Star Wars toys will be given to children in the age range of 1-12 years old.   This year we hope to raise even more than last year. We realize all of our Star Wars friends and donators come from various walks of life and some of us have a lot, and some of us, not so much. Every kid loves a really rad Star Wars toy, however, some kids could just use a Star Wars coloring book or a Star Wars children’s book to help them escape into their imaginations for a little bit of Star Wars fun. Hope you enjoy this series about 04-04-04 -"Shoot 'Em In The Face"   Give back to Veterans who give back to Veterans!  Hey, It's Eddie Thanks for listening! Globalisation has not passed Africa by. The recent boom in commodity prices has had a direct impact on African markets, as has the inescapable presence of new global powers like China on the continent. The massive amount of under-utilised agricultural land in Africa has also drawn buyers from the United States, East Asia, and Middle East. Globalization has also led to opportunities, as infrastructure is developed and mobile-phone based technologies revolutionise the way Africans live and work. Growth rates in many countries in this new, outward-looking Africa are high enough to make even the Chinese jealous. It is this wider global context that Stephen Ellis tries to draw out in his new book Season of Rains: Africa in the World (Hurst, 2011 ). Ellis does more, though, than place Africa in the context of globalization. He also shifts perceptions of Africa away from the familiar historical framework of colonialism and post-colonialism. There is of course far more to Africa than that. Season of Rains is an enjoyable read, full of interesting insights and provocative opinions. But beyond this, it offers the reader a new way of viewing Africa in a quickly changing world.   Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
