Lance Lopez is an American blues rock and Texas blues singer, guitarist, and songwriter. Lopez has been influenced by Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jeff Beck has described Lopez as "a very exciting and intense blues guitarist". Lopez has spoken over the years about being mentored by both Billy Gibbons and Johnny Winter. Lopez was age 16 at the time he met Gibbons, and they have remained friends throughout. Over the period between 2008 and 2011, Lopez toured in Europe extensively, playing at larger music festivals and supporting acts including ZZ Top, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, and Rod Stewart. In 2009, Lopez had signed a new recording contract with MIG (Made In Germany) Music / String Commander, who were based in Hanover, Germany. In 2010, the album Salvation From Sundown, which was produced by Jim Gaines was released by MIG. It was issued in limited edition format alongside a DVD of the Rockpalast concert recorded on July 25, 2009. It was deliberately arranged in a Texas blues style, which led to Jeff Beck calling Lopez, "a very exciting and intense blues guitarist". In March 2012, MIG Music released the sixth album from Lopez, Handmade Music. As with the previous release, the album was produced by Jim Gaines and recorded at the Ardent Studios in Memphis, Tennessee. In 2012, Supersonic Blues Machine was formed by Lopez, the drummer Kenny Aronoff, and the bassist and record producer Fabrizio Grossi. They released their debut album, West Of Flushing, South Of Frisco, which was recorded mainly by the three musicians separately and using Pro Tools technology to bring the various elements together. The same principle was used in selecting the guest musicians tracks to be added to the overall mix. The band was 'augmented' on the recording by Billy Gibbons, Robben Ford, Walter Trout, Warren Haynes, Eric Gales and Chris Duarte. Supersonic Blues Machine had its worldwide debut concert at the Holland International Blues Festival on June 4, 2016, in Grolloo, the Netherlands. The rigors of touring and the lifestyle caught up with Lopez around this time. Lopez stated "My own personal struggles were overcoming alcoholism, drug addiction and to start eating healthier, lose weight and exercise... I struggled for years drinking and drugging and eating badly while I was drinking... I became very overweight". Once recovered, Lopez noted about performing, "That still doesn't mean every night is perfect... but at least I can walk away and say I did the best I could and I was sober doing it". His next release was Live in NYC (2016), which was issued on Cleopatra Records and produced by Paul Nelson. The recording come out of Lopez attending, and performing at, the 70th birthday party for Johnny Winter. Lopez signed with the Mascot Label Group in November 2017, and his debut album on their Provogue Records imprint was Tell the Truth, which was released on March 2, 2018.It was produced by Fabrizio Grossi, and featured Jimmy Zavala.   Grainne Duffy is an Irish guitarist, singer and songwriter hailing from county Monaghan, Ireland. Her specific genres include Blues, Soul and Americana enriched with some delicate country and pop elements. Her professional career started in 2007. The same year she released her remarkable debut album Out Of The Dark, proof talent that was raising at an impressive rate. Described by The Sunday Times as ‘a blues singer of real integrity', Grainne Duffy is a pioneer of her own style while also paying sincere homage to her roots, soul, blues and rock traditions. During 2011 she released her second album Test Of Time as a result of her collaboration with the producer Niko Bolas (Melissa Etheridge, Los Lobos). The release and the accompanying video to the title song further marked the development of Duffy's reputation in the U.K followed by the rest of Europe, Canada and Australia Important highlight are her 3 concerts at Glastonbury festival, 4 concerts at Woodford Folk festival (Australia), Tremblant International Festival (Canada) and her appearances at Mahindra Blues Festival (India) where she shares the stage with likes as Billy Gibbons, Eric Gales, Shemekia Copeland and Supersonic Blues Machine. 2014 and 2015 sees Grainne as winner in Blues Matters Writers Poll in the categories “best vocalist” and “best solo artist” With a voice that is as passionate as it is raw and honest, accompanied by simple, melodic and phrased guitar lines, this is what you have in Grainne Duffy. 2017 sees her in USA recording with producer Justin Stanley (Eric Clapton, Sheryl Crow). This results as release of third album “Where I Belong” to follow the success of the previous two. The title song “Where I Belong” leads Duffy to numbers of live sessions at BBC and live performance at BBC TV. The summer of 2018 sees Grainne to share the stage at Cornbury Festival, UK alongside with fine artists like Alanis Morissette and Mavis Staple. Duffy releases her 4th studio album “Voodoo Blues”during October 2020. It is warmly received internationally achieving # 7 in UK IBBA Top 40 , # 13 in USA RMR and # 8 in France Powerblues charts. The album led Duffy to be winner in Independent Blues Awards 2021 in the category “Best Modern Roots Artist”. This success is another proof for Grainne's incredible songwriting and vocal capabilities. The moody blues quality of the vocals perfectly collaborates with the steady groove laid down by drums & bass and perfectly enriched by lead guitarist Paul Sherry. Kris Barras is a British blues rock guitarist and singer.Kris began playing guitar at the age of 5, under the guidance of his musician father, Paul Barras. He performed his first-ever gig with his Dad's band at the age of 9. For most of his adult life, Kris used had an unusual side-job alongside his music career. Although now retired, he had a successful 10 year professional Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai career, which saw him compete and train in Las Vegas, Thailand and Singapore.  Kris picked up his first guitar aged just five -- two years later he upgraded to an electric and developed his signature style. At the same time, Barras was also training in martial arts, and although his music career saw him playing in various bands, touring the U.S., Europe, and the U.K., he also found himself competing in mixed martial arts contests.  Deciding that fighting wasn't the direction he wanted to take, he fell back onto his first love, music. In 2014 he formed the Kris Barras Band, playing a mix of blues and Southern and classic rock. The following year they released their self-titled debut mini-album independently and spent the majority of their time playing gigs up and down the UK. The follow-up album, Lucky 13, appeared in 2016, once again self-released. In 2017 Barras signed to Mascot label Provogue and set about recording his third album. The Divine and Dirty. The success of this album led to tours with artists such as Beth Hart, Joanne Shaw Taylor and GUN. Kris was featured as one of "The 17 Best Blues Guitarists in the World". He was voted number 13, alongside names such as Joe Bonamassa, John Mayer, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Derek Trucks and Eric Gales. I caught up with Kris a couple months ago to talk about his bands latest release Death Valley Paradise. Lance Lopez has been on a slow, steady climb up the mountain of blues rock guitar heavyweights for the last decade. Lance has a voice that let's you know he's walked the walk and his smoky tenor has grown more gravely and passionate with the years. Lopez started playing professionally at the age of 14 in bars and clubs in and around New Orleans, and along the Gulf Coast. After High School, he was hired by soul great Johnny Taylor when he was just 17. Quickly becoming a modern blues legend, he was Lucky Peterson's band leader at 18, and eventually joining the Buddy Miles Express. He's lived the life every day since, and you can feel every mile of the road in every note he plays. I spoke to Corey Taylor about the new Stone Sour record Hydrograd a few weeks before it came out, and we had a lot of fun talking about inappropriate swearing, how to pronounce ‘Framus,’ and how to sing after your damn spine has been reconstructed. This interview with Buddy Guy was done just over two years ago as advance publicity for his appearance at Bluesfest in Byron Bay, and just a couple of days before his most recent album Born To Play Guitar came out. We did the interview after he’d appeared on the Tonight ShowYou know Kenny Aronoff. You’ve heard him with John Mellencamp, Bob Dylan, Tony Iommi, Jefferson Airplane, Elton Jhn, Santana, Chickenfoot, The Smashing Pumpkins, and on and on and on.
