Cynthia Collier grew up in Salt Lake City in a family that enjoyed the performing arts. She studied philosophy, English, and music at Brigham Young University, and has taught music and theater in schools. Over the past 25 years she has been involved in writing and directing live productions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including Savior of the World at the Conference Center Theater in Salt Lake City, and the Nauvoo and British pageants in Nauvoo, Illinois. She has served in the Church as a teacher, in various music callings, and in presidencies in wards and stakes. She most recently served with her husband as a branch minister at the University of Utah and Huntsman Hospitals in Salt Lake City. She is married to Eric Collier and is a mother and grandmother. Amy Robinson graduated from Brigham Young University in Humanities and Modern dance, and was thrilled to be part of the BYU International Folk dance team and Modern Dance team. She believes her greatest educational opportunities came from touring with those companies to many amazing places including China, India, and Europe. This may be where she gained her nomadic spirit—she and her husband Nathan have moved 27 times in 20 years of marriage! In London, England, in 2013, Amy had the opportunity to create the choreography for the first British Pageant. It was a life-changing experience to see the miracles that came to the participants of that show and audience. In 2015, Amy enjoyed helping set the British pageant on the Nauvoo stage and returned to help family casts learn choreography for the pageants in 2022 and 2024. She considers it her dream job to "move with joy" with the casts in England and then Nauvoo. Amy has also been part of the Arts in Education program in Utah through Tanner Dance, teaching dancers of all ages in elementary schools, and teaches folk dance at American Heritage School in Salt Lake City. Amy and Nathan are the parents of six children and her greatest joy is time spent with them—dancing in the kitchen and singing in the car—and serving in the Church, especially with youth and children. Growing up, Amy Robinson was immersed in her family-owned floral business, Keith's Flowers and Plants. Since early childhood, she accumulated a wealth of creativity and design expertise, finding her passion in the floral profession, but this wildflower realized that the 9-5 work-life just wasn't for her - and so, she opened Fleurish in the heart of Petawawa. Although this passionate floral entrepreneur boasts that business is typically flowery and fun, as the saying goes, every rose has it thorn, and that means that in this episode, Amy enlightens us with the grits and grind behind the counter... and things get a pit prickly around here!

Amy was kind, dependable, and dedicated to her future; she was preyed upon by two heartless beasts. For being an underseen Martin Scorsese film, AFTER HOURS is responsible for rescuing his career in 1985. This wild, insulated world weaves an intricate web of curiosity & chance rolled into an anxiety dream. Scorsese's fast-paced, down & dirty style takes up residence within the dark corners of New York for this one-night-only adventure of survival. //***Discussions include*** Actors Griffin Dunne & Amy Robinson tracking down the screenplay, finding a director & controversial story origin; what led Scorsese the project; recirculating themes, foreshadowing & key plot points; use of dark comedy, action & anxiety in the film; cast & extreme performances; lighting, cinematography, editing & score; reception, effect on Scorsese's career & behind the scenes stories. We may be a bit late in getting Marty Month started, but we're diving in head long with Scorsese's breakthrough picture, and the first of many collaborations with his two leads as we finally sit down to watch 1973's Mean Streets, written and directed by Martin Scorsese, and starring Harvey Keitel, Robert De Niro, Amy Robinson, Martin Proval, Richard Romanus, Cesare Danova and Victor Argo. It's Scorsese's second full length feature, but the first that comes from a personal space, and features so many elements of the director's signature voice and style that would only become more refined in the decades since. It is indeed hard to imagine what it would have felt like to see this movie for the fi rst time upon its release, as its influence is hugely felt across film and television. This week we're hyper-fixated on Sufjan Stevens' Javelin and the fact it's cold enough to go for pho. Tough to say whose fixation is whose. And we've got Theatre Field Reports on Stop Making Sense, The Creator, The Royal Hotel, Gran Turismo, and PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie. Other films discussed in this episode include: Charade, His Girl Friday, Ford v Ferrari, Need For Speed, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and countless other Scorsese movies. Hayley also would love for you to support community radio in Regina by visiting www.cjtr.ca. If you send her screenshot with proof of donation, you will be entered to win a custom cross-stitch courtesy of Hayley herself! Please support if you can. We'll be back later this week on Friday as normal, as Scorsese Month continues with The Aviator. That movie is available on Crave in Canada currently, while Mean Streets can be seen on Starz. Sorry we missed some weeks there! We're glad to be back!

THIS IS A PREVIEW PODCAST. NOT THE FULL REVIEW. Please check out the full podcast review on our Patreon Page by subscribing over at - https://www.patreon.com/NextBestPicture For this month's first throwback podcast review, I was joined by Giovanni Lago, Danilo Castro, and guest Larry Fried to discuss the first collaboration between Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese and Academy Award-winning actor Robert De Niro in "Mean Streets" to help us get ready for the release of their latest piece of work together in "Killers Of The Flower Moon." Shot on a small budget with very few resources, the movie may not have been the official feature directorial debut for Scorsese, but it would be the film that would put him on the map and lay the foundation for much of the greatness that would come after for both him and De Niro. Also starring Harvey Keitel in one of his best roles, David Proval, Amy Robinson, Victor Argo, Richard Romanus & David Carradine, the film is very much a snapshot of 1970s style filmmaking as much as it is a personal look at small-time crime in the streets of Little Italy New York from Scorsese's perspective. What did we think of it fifty years later? Tune in as we discuss the story, the performances, the themes, and scrappy filmmaking, which led to some innovative choices that helped give the film its original identity at the time of its release and more in our review. Actors Griffin Dunne, Mark Metcalf, and Amy Robinson were looking for film projects for their fledgling production company and all agreed that Ann Beattie's novel Chilly Scenes of Winter was ripe for adaptation. Indie director Joan Micklin Silver came on board with John Heard and Mary Beth Hurt leading the cast. The film struggled at the box office in 1979 under the new United Artists imposed title Head Over Heels. When it was re-released in 1982 as Chilly Scenes of Winter, the film fared better and has since become a cult title. Dan and Vicky discuss the romantic "comedy" along with their thoughts on the end of Netflix's DVD service, the women of Sex and the City sequel And Just Like That, and Dan's planned trip to Spain. Following up on our great Brian De Palma episode with Megan Abbott & Alison Gaylin that was released last week, we have our second of three installments this month featuring two tremendous guests. Centered on one of our greatest film stars in the form of Robert Mitchum, you'll hear two different conversations with two brilliant women, recorded over the course of the summer to clock in at a combined total of two hours. If anyone deserves that much time & attention, it's Robert Mitchum!First up, we have blogger & historian Raquel Stecher, who joins me to cover some of the actor's most famous performances in the films OUT OF THE PAST, BLOOD ON THE MOON, RIVER OF NO RETURN, THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, & THE FRIENDS OF EDDIE COYLE. After that, actress-turned-producer Amy Robinson returns to share her thoughts on the man whose six-decade-spanning career she did a deep dive into during the pandemic. In addition to a general appreciation of what Robert Mitchum brought to film history, she chose to tackle one of his most unexpected & fascinating collaborations with his good friend Deborah Kerr, with whom he starred in the films HEAVEN KNOWS MR. ALLISON, THE SUNDOWNERS, THE GRASS IS GREENER, & REUNION AT FAIRBOROUGH. A wide-ranging conversation that touches on several other memorable films, stars, & directors, you'll want to be sure to listen to this one with a notebook & pen in order to write down all of the titles we work into these two terrific chats. A film critic for publications such as LA Weekly, New York Magazine, Vulture, The New York Times, and formerly, The Village Voice, the brilliant Bilge Ebiri is one of my favorite journalists working today. Although we've discussed some of his favorite directors like Terrence Malick & Neil Jordan tangentially in the past, I was thrilled to bring him back to the podcast this time to focus on the filmmaker who helmed his favorite movie of all time Barry Lyndon. An engaging and insightful journey into Ebiri's own life & career exploring the work of Stanley Kubrick, which is one of his particular areas of expertise, over the course of two jam-packed hours of conversation, we explore the films Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, & The Shining. Unable to stop asking him questions about the rest of Kubrick's filmography, the result is a highly entertaining, story-filled exchange that's sure to be a new favorite among cinephiles. Moreover, following the podcast's three most recent installments covering French Crime Movies, the oeuvre of actor-producers Amy Robinson & Griffin Dunne, & the Ranown Westerns of Budd Boetticher, this episode is the perfect way to close out what has unofficially become Watch With Jen's Criterion Collection-centric July. In Season 3 of the podcast, my good friend Kate Hagen - a talented writer & Senior Vice President at The Black List - joined me to kick off a fascinating new series of conversations with the people behind the movies we love. We launched it with what is still one of my all-time favorite episodes: a long, career-spanning discussion with the great filmmaker Allison Anders & then a few months later, we reunited to chat with Allison's daughter, the hard-working & acclaimed music supervisor Tiffany Anders. And recently, Kate returned to help me welcome two extraordinary guests, actors & producers Griffin Dunne & Amy Robison, who, along with their company Double Play Productions, were behind some of the best movies when we were growing up, including director Joan Micklin Silver's CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER, director John Sayles' BABY IT'S YOU, Martin Scorsese's AFTER HOURS (which also starred Dunne), Sidney Lumet's RUNNING ON EMPTY, & more. An actor I think most people in my generation first remember as the teacher upon whom Anna Chlumsky's character had an impossible crush in MY GIRL, Griffin Dunne has had an impressive career on both sides of the camera, acting in films as diverse as AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON & QUIZ SHOW, & directing films such as PRACTICAL MAGIC & the wonderful Joan Didion documentary THE CENTER WILL NOT HOLD. Amy Robinson made a stunning debut as an actress in director Martin Scorsese's MEAN STREETS, in which she played Teresa. And in addition to the films she's produced with Dunne, Robinson has also produced director Joan Chen's AUTUMN IN NEW YORK, the Hughes brothers' FROM HELL, Michael Cuesta's 12 & HOLDING, Nora Ephron's JULIE & JULIA among others. In this feature-length episode, the warm & thoughtful duo behind Double Play Productions take us on a tour of their memories making some of the most acclaimed films from the late '70s through the early '90s & beyond. Timed to release this week as AFTER HOURS debuts on disc from The Criterion Collection (a few months after CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER did as well), film buffs, & especially those interested in the business of making movies are sure to enjoy this endearing conversation. Note: SAG strike rules prevent actors from discussing or promoting any projects they made under past contracts. This conversation was recorded prior to the strike in May of 2023. Hayley tells Brandy the story of Nique Leili On a warm summer night in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, a woman named Dominique Leili, known as Nique to family and friends, disappeared. Her husband Matthew Leili claimed Nique intentionally left their home and their two young daughters behind. But when her nude body was found in the nearby woods, suspicion turned to her husband, though how she died is still unclear. Matt had installed 21 surveillance cameras around his family's home, and he used audio recorders to capture some of the fights he and his wife Leili had before she disappeared. It was later discovered that surveillance footage from the hours Nique Leili went missing was mysteriously deleted, according to police. Nique Leili's family is convinced her husband is responsible for her death. "[I have] no idea what she saw in him," her sister, Amy Robinson, told "20/20." A jury later found Matt Leili guilty of his wife's murder, and Nique Leili's family believes justice was served, but her death is still a mystery. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/easykillerpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/easykillerpodcast/support

Today's SWAPA Number is 825 million. That's the negative impact the meltdown will have to our fourth quarter earnings according to an 8-K, the Company filed on January 6th. I don't have to tell you that SWAPA has been super busy communicating with our members over the last couple of weeks. Our reps and our execs have written extensively about the leadership failures, while our committees have been trying to make sure that you get the information you need to help navigate this crisis. And speaking of committees, I want to give a special shout out to Scott Plyler and his SRC team that gave us a great day by day breakdown last week of how and why the scheduling side of the operation failed so badly. So if you hadn't had a chance to watch that video, please, you really, really need to. Like I said, we've been all over the airwaves, including business cable and major news networks trying to get SWAPA's message across to the public. The problem with TV interviews is that they get edited down to just a little bit of a sound bite and a lot of the important parts tend to get left out. So on today's show, my usual SWAPA Number, host Amy Robinson and SWAPA Comm chair Mike Panebianco, sit down with all three execs for a conversation that covers many of the same points you've already heard from SWAPA, but there's a lot more detail and nuance that had been left on the cutting room floor.

Today's SWAPA number is 40 That's about the average number of comm pieces SWAPA distributes to our members, the media, and other outside audiences on a monthly basis.SWAPA SMEs produce a huge amount of information and it's our Communications Team's job to turn it from a rough draft into a polished product, usually with very short deadlines. On our 50th episode a while back, Kurt Heidemann and Amy Robinson talked about their role in Comm. Today on the show, we're going to talk with the rest of the members of the Comm Team about their SWAPA Comm products and how they work to keep our Pilot group educated and unified.
Today's SWAPA number is 50. That's the amount of SWAPA Number podcasts we've produced for our pilots since we started in August of 2019. We've gotten a lot of great feedback about them because they let us talk directly with our SMEs about subjects in an easy-to-follow format. So today on the show we're going to celebrate that milestone by turning our mics around and interviewing our long-time hosts Kurt and Amy so they can give a look into the inner workings of SWAPA Communications.

Ep. 16: HAPPY 2021! This is the year to get your finances in check. In fact, you're late to the party, but don't sweat it. Amy Robinson, my Texas Exes Mentor, is here to help you. Amy is a 26-year-old real estate business owner and low-key minimalist, which have both greatly shaped her views on money - Saving, spending, and investing. She grew up in Plano, TX, yet fell in love with the big city life when she enrolled as a business student at UT Austin. Amy (through a ton of trial and "I hate this s*it") found herself with a major in Marketing and a real estate license by the time she was 21 and decided to pursue a career in ATX real estate right out of college. She and her business partner/best friend, Hannah Mickey, have built a business together over the last 2.5 years that not only works, but also allows them the freedom and flexibility to pursue their passions both personally and professionally, and the opportunity to retire early. Amy has learned over the years how to start and run a lean business, invest in the future she's excited about, and budget like a champion. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/lashermanas/support
