Chinese medicine asks why they showed up in the first place. Jiaming Ju is a second-generation Chinese medicine practitioner whose father trained for decades in the mountains on the North Korea-China border — where the most potent medicinal herbs in the world still grow. Jiaming walked away from a rising career as one of the world's youngest longevity economists to carry that lineage forward, and the results speak for themselves: patients with long Covid, endometriosis, PCOS, and autoimmune conditions that "couldn't be fixed" — healing. In this episode, you'll discover: • Why your anxiety, bloating, brain fog, and painful periods are all the same problem — and what your liver and digestion have to do with it • The Chinese medicine view on ADHD, depression, and why medicating the symptom without addressing the root makes things worse over time • Why stubborn weight that won't budge has less to do with what you're eating and more to do with what happened to your digestion years ago If you've been patching symptoms without ever asking why your body got there — this conversation will change how you see everything. Today's podcast guest, Dr. Sonya Jensen, is a first-generation immigrant who grew up navigating two very different cultures and the rules imposed on her about how she should look, who she should be friends with, and how she should perform in school. Around age 13, she developed anorexia as a way of gaining control of her own life. Ultimately, her experiences with anorexia, processing childhood trauma, and working with patients led her to put the pieces together between emotions, trauma, and physical health. In this episode, we discuss the deep work she does with women, where she focuses on the well-researched links between emotions and physical health. In this podcast, Dr. Jensen and I discuss: A 66,000-woman study over 16 years found every single woman with a fibroid had childhood abuse, whether physical, sexual, or emotional (this is when Dr. Jensen started piecing together trauma and physical health) When progesterone is low, GABA is low - so you may feel anxious - when estrogen is low, dopamine and serotonin are low, so you're not accessing joy as quickly Constant production of the stress hormone cortisol creates more pronounced estrogen dominance; one woman manifests tender breasts or cysts, another manifests fibroids, but all have low progesterone Fibroids can become worse by pseudo-estrogen from environmental toxins (pesticides, phthalates, plastics)...if your body can't detoxify them, they recirculate and create estrogen dominance Dr. Jensen was previously against bioidentical hormones, but she then realized women go into midlife very depleted, and physiological dosing helps them feel like themselves again Progesterone dosing is nuanced: One of Dr. Jensen's patients went into psychosis on progesterone because her OB-GYN doubled the dose - not everyone can be on the same dose or same kind of hormone Holocaust studies show infants born to survivors have adrenal insufficiency; their ability to adapt to stress isn't as optimal due to generational trauma If mom was stressed during pregnancy, her preteen will have more anxiety, if mom had really low cortisol, the child's nervous system regulation isn't as efficient Women who use hormones along with lifestyle changes and emotional work thrive on minimal doses, and some can even take breaks; women who only do hormones hit plateaus and cycle back

Women with uterine fibroids face a significantly higher long-term risk of heart disease, meaning fibroids act as an early warning sign of deeper cardiovascular strain rather than a localized reproductive issue The increased risk shows up early, often years before traditional heart disease symptoms appear, giving you a key window to address underlying metabolic and vascular stress Fibroids are linked to chronic inflammation, impaired blood vessel function, and disrupted energy metabolism, all of which contribute to heart disease development over time Addressing root causes such as low cellular energy, poor metabolic flexibility, and vascular stress helps reduce both fibroid progression and cardiovascular risk Lifestyle strategies that support energy production, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation shift your body out of survival mode and lower long-term heart disease risk

Mifepristone, one of the drugs in the two-pill medication abortion regimen approved by the Food and Drug Administration, is an extremely versatile drug. It has the potential to treat a striking range of diseases and conditions—from fibroids, breast cancer, depression, and endometriosis, to autoimmune diseases such as chronic fatigue syndrome and multiple sclerosis, according to scientists. Research also suggests that it could help prevent some forms of breast cancer, and it can serve as an effective weekly contraceptive without some of the side effects of hormonal birth control. Given its incredibly promising uses to aid women's health, why has its research been repeatedly undermined, derailed, and obstructed in the United States?Joining us to discuss these issues is our very special guest: Carrie N. In this episode of Black Women's Health, Dr. Rahman talks about the presence of uterine fibroids while pregnant. Pregnant with Fibroids and Scared taps into the exact fear, isolation and uncertainty pregnant women actually feel - especially Black women, who often feel dismissed in clinical spaces.Sadly high quality data/research on the relationship between fibroids and pregnancy outcome is limited.Fibroids are incredibly common in Black women. And we have the highest prevalence of fibroids during pregnancy. For too many of us they show up right in the middle of one of the most vulnerable time in our lives: pregnancy. This week I'm talking about what fibroids can mean during pregnancy and the real conversations we should be having with each other and with our healthcare providers. If you've been pregnant with fibroids, are pregnant with fibroids now, or support women who are pregnant, this episode is for you.Take Our Fibroid Survey (2 minutes): "From a health equity perspective, it (fibroids) is one of the least well-understood and understudied entities." In this episode of Black Women's Health Podcast, Dr. Rahman talks about uterine fibroids which are incredibly common, incredibly disruptive and incredibly ignored. Fibroids affect up to 80% of Black women by the age of 50 yr. Often treatment focuses on surgery. But there is a whole area of research - quiet, underfunded, promising- that rarely gets translated to clinical care: vitamin D.* Black women are more likely to be vitamin D deficient*Low vitamin D is linked to a higher risk of developing fibroids*Small clinical trials show that supplementation may slow fibroid growth. This is early research that deserves our attention. Stay tuned for our survey annoucement, and share this episode with someone who needs it.

On this episode of Vitality Radio, we continue our deep dive into systemic enzymes, building on the foundation laid in episodes #530 & 566. This time, the focus is on practical protocols that combine Fibrenza with key companions and targeted nutrient support for cardiovascular health, immune resilience, and recovery. You'll learn how systemic enzymes modulate the immune system for conditions like autoimmune disease and fibromyalgia, why pairing them with other supportive supplements can retrain immune balance and strengthen the gut lining at the root. Jared also shares cardiovascular strategies post-COVID — using Fibrenza with supplements that support nitric oxide, vessel flexibility, and inflammation balance. Finally, the discussion turns to exercise recovery, with protocols designed to accelerate healing, reduce soreness, and protect tendons and ligaments. This episode is about root cause solutions — supporting balance, reducing inflammatory debris, and nourishing the body so it can do what it was designed to do: heal and thrive.Products:Fibrenza Systemic EnzymeKyolic Moducare Daily Immune SupportVital 5 Precision Probiotic Vital SporesNatural Factors L-Glutamine PowderGet Well Stay WellN.O. On this follow-up to episode #566, Jared takes systemic enzymes one step further by laying out practical protocols for real-life concerns. While the last show explained what systemic enzymes do and why they matter, this episode focuses on how to use them—and how to combine them with other targeted supplements to give the body the tools it need to truly heal rather than just mask symptoms. Jared lays out protocols that address the root causes behind pain and inflammation, and abnormal tissue growth as in scar tissue and adhesions, fibroids, cysts, and endometriosis. If you listened to episode #566 and wanted to know “what do I actually do next?” this show provides the answers with clear, actionable strategies. You'll come away with step-by-step dosing guidelines, companion supplement recommendations, and a roadmap for addressing both symptoms and the root causes behind them. The post has sparked a global debate about a health problem that affects millions of women around the world but is rarely talked about.
