Do you know what your continuous glucose levels are? Most people don't, so don't feel bad! But, did you know keeping track of your glucose levels can reveal many important things about your daily diet and habits? It is possible and that's why we are going to dive into in this episode of the Complete Human podcast. How we do this is through were a Continuous Glucose Monitor. While many people think of these monitors for those with diabetes exclusively, they have become more mainstream and are now used by those who are serious about understanding what's going on within their body and how what they are eating and doing daily is effecting their overall health. One of the things we've been talking about for years is the value of diagnostic testing. While there's no singular test out there to really quantify true metabolic health, there are certain things that we can look at time and time again as kind of precursors to metabolic dysfunction, mitochondrial dysfunction, and insulin resistance. One of those is a continuous glucose monitor. We have both been wearing our levels, which is a Continuous Glucose Monitor that attaches to an app. By wearing this, we've been able to actually not only track our glucose on a consistent basis, but also look at the data as it pertains to certain food activity. So in this particular episode, we have the pleasure of interviewing Dr. Taylor Sittler, who's the head of research and development over at Levels and we really get into the weeds on metabolic health, what is contributing to metabolic dysfunction, and how we can overcome and avoid these issues through measuring and understanding our glucose levels.Levels is currently running a closed beta program with a waitlist of over 160,000 people. Are we supposed to be vegans or carnivores? Dr. Paul Saladino has a very unique answer to that question.Since the dawn of time, the food chain has been divided into two very distinct groups – carnivores and herbivores. The herbivores ate the plants and the carnivores ate the herbivores. We were really able to see this distinction in the dinosaurs over 65 million years ago. The dinosaurs died out, eventually paving the way for man, the pesky little hybrid of a creature who consumed both plant and animal. The study of man's diet through the ages is a topic of much debate in scientific circles. Did we flourish as meat eaters or are we meant to be herbivores. Outside of the scientific debate, there is a cultural clash between those who oppose eating animals, and those that believe that our greatest path to health lies in consuming meat.In this episode of The Complete Human Podcast, Janna and Evan discuss the Carnivore Diet with Dr. Paul Saladino, author of the Carnivore Code. Dr. Saladino discusses man's origins as hunters, and how eating animals made us human. He discusses in great detail plant toxins of all types, where they are found, and how to avoid these toxins.Dr. Saladino brings a very unique position to the conversation of dietary supplements and why some may be doing more harm than good.Find more from Complete Human:Articles: completehuman.com/articlesInstagram: @completehumanShop: store.completehuman.comYoutube: Complete Human

Have you ever experienced a tragic event and felt like you had a broken heart? Most of us have. It turns out that there is more to just that feeling than we could have possibly known. It was always believed that the brain was responsible for sending signals to the heart but there is actually a two communication pathway between the heart and the brain. The heart sends signals to the brain which can an impact on mood, sleep and even HRV, something Complete Human has discussed at great length. HeartMath research has demonstrated that different patterns of heart activity (which accompany different emotional states) have distinct effects on cognitive and emotional function. During stress and negative emotions, when the heart rhythm pattern is erratic and disordered, the corresponding pattern of neural signals traveling from the heart to the brain inhibits higher cognitive functions. This limits our ability to think clearly, remember, learn, reason, and make effective decisions. (This helps explain why we may often act impulsively and unwisely when we're under stress.) The heart's input to the brain during stressful or negative emotions also has a profound effect on the brain's emotional processes—actually serving to reinforce the emotional experience of stress. from HeartMath Institute websiteIn this episode we discuss the science of the heart brain connection with Dr. Deborah Rozman, it's impact on HRV and general health and what people can do to really optimize their heart connection. 2020 was a difficult year. Kids were confined to their homes why they attempted to learn through a computer. Most of us were cut off from friends and family as stay at home orders swept the nation nd the planet. Our way of live was turned upside down and possibly forever changed. In short - a global trauma ensued. The information contained in this episode of Complete Human sheds a fascinating light on the science behind this kind of global trauma and how HeartMath is helping people from all across the world heal.

What if the worst invention of all time wasn't the atomic bomb or some deadly viral pathogen, but the Refrigerator. The US throws away 8o billion tons of food a year, most of which has been attributed to poor refrigerator organization. Food waste accounts for 40% of our total food supply and has an economic impact of roughly $1600 per family in the US. Compound that with the type of food that is being wasted and there is no confusion about why America is the most unhealthy of all industrialized nations. Is the solution to return the Maytag or Frigidaire? Most likely not. While CEO's are a plenty in this world, few will ever earn the moniker of "Shaper," someone destined to leave a positive mark on the planet. Like Elon Musk or Walt Disney, Greg Connolly is on a mission to lead a charge the reshapes the Earth. Trifecta is a home meal delivery company who's mission is to remove the possibility of diet failure by delivering fresh healthy meals directly to their customers doors. After speaking with Greg on this episode of Complete Human, we found that the mission goes far beyond that. From optimizing supply chains which decreases total carbon footprint, to innovating packaging that actually serves as compost, Trifecta seems destined to make a major dent in that 80 billion tons of food every year problem while addressing major climate issues and health problems. Where Trifecta differs from other home meal delivery companies, and believe us, we've tried them all, is that you actually want to eat their food. They have clearly not sacrificed quality to chase margin. The variety of meals they offer and the quality of those meals are clearly one of the reasons that Trifecta is the largest business of it's kind. While giving back the refrigerator is not really an option any more, packing it full of Trifecta is one step that we can all take improve the health of the people and the health of the planet. To that end, we encourage all of you to check out Trifecta here and use coupon code completehuman to save 40% off your first order.
For as long as humans have walked the Earth, people have dreamed about true potential. From fire and the wheel to putting a man on the moon, our desire to push the boundaries of what we once thought was impossible has been the driving force and often the crowning achievements in the relatively short history of humankind on this planet. But where does this desire stem from? Maslow's hierarchy of basic human needs has been the default ideology for man's quest for actualization for decades. But what really is behind self actualization. As we peel back the layers of the Complete Human, we find that our own potential as individuals and as a species emerges time and again as the distinguishing characteristic that might just save us from all of our past transgressions. On toady's show, Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman takes us on a journey into human's potential, the pitfalls of Maslow's theory and how we can all take one step closer to realizing our fullest potential.
Who are the Clitorati? In this episode of Complete Human, we take a fascinating look at human sexuality through the anthropological lens of Wednesday Martin. How did the invention of the plow up end thousands of years of instinctual evolution? These are just a few of the questions Wednesday discuses in a conversation that helps us better understand human sexual behavior. And so back to the question of the Clitorati? Are they a secret society of sexually charged women waiting to take their place as rightful rulers of the planet and maybe the universe? Tune in to find out.

1990 saw the introduction of Michael Crichton's book Jurassic Park, a cautionary tale about the awesome power of genetic engineering. The story captured the minds of science fiction fans the world over but it wasn't until the launch of Jurassic Park the movie that the general population understood the true power of what Ingen was doing on that island off of Costa Rica. Genetic engineering is no longer science fiction – it is here and it is going to have an impact on the future. Science Fiction, for the most part, allows the dreamers of a generation to visualize what the future will look like, and then apply the very real consequences of the choices we make as a species to a fictional story. In many ways, science fiction acts as a global cautionary tale, a giant neon sign saying “Danger Will Robinson.” Jamie Metzl has made a career out of blending the unimaginable potential of technology with the very imaginable consequences of that technology. With a masterful hand, he guides us through the cosmic mine field of that technology with a patient approach to unifying humanity through education. As a science fiction and fiction writer, he understands the power of story in explaining the science of emerging tech, and the consequences of that tech if not handled properly. Jaime Metzl is a technology and healthcare futurist, geopolitical expert, novelist, social entrepreneur, and the Founder and Chair of the global social movement OneSharedWorld.
