So, back in 1912, when the Titanic hit that infamous iceberg, things got chaotic real quick. The ship scraped against the ice, and that friction caused some serious damage. Now, here's the kicker: when metal rubs against metal like that, it creates this distinct metallic smell. So, all those passengers probably caught a whiff of it as the ship's hull got torn up. It's like when you accidentally scratch your car against a pole – that smell tells you something ain't right. Sadly, for the Titanic, it was a whole lot worse than a scratch. #brightside Credit: Berlandiera lyrata: Melburnian, CC BY-SA 3.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/..., https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi... Transcript included below…Today, we're going to talk about cultivating our awareness as guitarists, and why that matters. This was a pretty tricky episode to put together, because it's a little subjective in parts…but I'm actually quite pleased with where it went. See if you can track with me, and consider leaving a comment after you've experienced my thoughts.Have you ever walked through a crowded area and crossed paths with someone who wasn't really looking where they were going? I've seen it happen, and I've actually also been the guilty party. It's easy enough to look back at where we've been walking from, but not watch where we're headed…and that can result in at least a comedy of errors, or perhaps a messier situation. If someone isn't watching where they're going, they're going to struggle. We as guitarists have the potential to play well, to communicate well, and to enjoy the process…especially if we can reduce or eliminate some of these struggles.I've got a handful of illustrations that are designed to help us understand the importance of awareness, all with a view to helping us be more aware of what we are doing, but especially of what is going on around us.The Beginning of BatmanIn the 2005 Christopher Nolan movie Batman Begins, Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne trains with mentor Ducard as he develops his skills. One of their exercises is a sparring sword match on an icy pond. Just when Bruce thinks he has overcome Ducard and says “Yield,” Ducard looks up at him and says, “You haven't beaten me. You've given up sure footing for a killing stroke.” Then, suddenly, Ducard taps his sword against the ice, and Bruce falls through it into the water. The recurring phrase that is uttered throughout this movie is “Always mind your surroundings.” Having a heightened awareness of our surroundings helps us “do battle” better, and to be victorious. We can overcome obstacles and challenges, but we have to be…aware.NertzOne of my early memories of courting my wife was playing the card game “Nertz” with her family. I did not play well. I discovered quickly that to have my eyes mostly on my own cards was not going to be sufficient. I had to be aware of the piles in the middle of the table, but also every other player's rows of cards in front of them. This would allow me to know what was coming up next, so I could get rid of my cards. But this was not a relaxed, calm game…it was a race against the other players. You snooze, you lose, right? The more players, the faster you had to act if you saw an opportunity. This game continues to be a family favorite. I'm including a photo of the table where my kids and their cousins are having a rousing game of Nertz on one of the Puget Sound ferries.Even playing this game with just my wife has been challenging. I've even found myself the recipient of friendly advice for what to play next. This proves that she is completely aware of her situation, but also of mine, which informs her situation.I don't love the game, but I love what it teaches: “Be hyper-aware of your needs, the needs of others, and how to meet those needs, even in a competitive environment.”The most skilled Nertz player knows what's going on in their hands, but also in the hands of their fellow players. Even helping each other can lead to our own success, but we have to be…aware.Situational AwarenessI was a guest musician at a Christian school recently where they had brought in some law enforcement officers to train the students and faculty in the unlikely event of an active intruder. Everyone was encouraged to memorize the address of where they were, so that in the event that they needed to call 911 for help, and they only had a moment to talk, they could at least state the address. It's important to know where we are. And it's important to know what to do if something changes the situation. And some of this is made possible by…preparation. Being prepared helps us to focus and act intentionally when something unexpected happens. But when it all comes down to the moment, our safety, and even our lives could depend to some extent on how tuned in we are to all that's happening in the situation. Sometimes a crisis brings adrenaline, and those who are the calmest are the ones who can function the best.Making it through a crisis can be done, but we have to be…aware.Social AwarenessWe're all learning how to be better conversationalists, and we grow in this area each time we talk with another person. But some folks have more to learn. They tend to be what I'd call “socially unaware” or perhaps “less” aware. This is demonstrated when they do most of the talking, or don't sense when the person they're talking to wants the conversation to wind down. They simply don't respond to social cues, because they're just not aware. This can happen at any age. But when someone is aware of the climate of the conversation, it blesses everyone. They know how to contribute, how to ask good questions, and how to add value to what is being discussed…primarily because they know how to listen. We can listen, we can respond, and we can build up others as we talk, but we have to be…aware.Defensive DrivingIf you've been driving for any length of time, you know that not every driver out there is aware of what they're doing. They may be preoccupied by the fact that they're lost or turned around, or they may even be hindering their own progress by looking at their cell phone. In the past month, I cannot tell you the number of drivers I've seen on the road who have been texting while they drive. I couldn't count how many I saw. That's obviously a subject for another time, but I wish those folks would wait to send a text until after they get where they're going, so as to avoid a possible collision. It's up to us to be defensive drivers. I recall years ago a bumper sticker that said “Visualize world peace.” This was eventually met with a similar bumper sticker with a bit of a snarky tone that said “Visualize using your turn signal.”Not everyone signals before they turn. We, as the other drivers, need to be on the lookout for their “less than awesome” driving, especially as a matter of safety. We need to know where we're driving, we need to be watchful for how others are driving, and we need to notice traffic signs, lights, and all the rest. Our safety in the context of the road and the other drivers depends on what we do moment by moment. We really have to be…aware.Sensitive to the SpiritI always appreciate spending time with followers of Christ who are sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading. Sometimes, in a conversation, someone I'm talking to will feel led to pray about whatever we're talking about…right then and there. That shows a level of sensitivity that I believe honors the Lord, because it invites Him into the conversation and also brings His authority and guidance. If we have a plan to do anything in life at all, and we feel a prompting from the Holy Spirit to change what we're doing, we need to respond to that. Perhaps the Holy Spirit is prompting us to give something to someone, to have a conversation with someone, to pray with someone. Any and all possible things can happen if we are stirred, convicted, or prompted by the Holy Spirit. But we have to be…aware.Putting it into Context with GuitarYes, I believe there is direct application in multiple contexts where we play our guitars, specifically on the worship platform or the stage from where we are ministering with our music.Let's say we play guitar in a band, specifically on a worship team. What do we need to be aware of? I'd say everything. First, like Bruce Wayne or Batman, we need to mind our surroundings. We need to know what's going on in the space in which we're playing, as we listen to the other musicians, the sound of the room, the response of the congregation, the vocalists, and their various musical decisions. As a part of minding our surroundings, we need to know where we are in the music. If we don't know that, we can get lost. I recall leading worship as a guest at a church, and as we rehearsed the set, the bass player started playing lots of notes that didn't make sense. I paused the song and gently asked him if he knew what was happening. He humorously responded “Where did I go?” We got back on track, and the rehearsal resumed. But for a moment, that musician didn't know where he was. I needed to know the music well enough to be aware of this, so I could guide him back.Second, like the Nertz card players, we need to know what's in our hands, and also in the hands of our fellow “players.” We need to know what the band is doing, so we can be more musical. In other words, if the band is doing something dynamically contrasting, or there's a specific groove, we need to be able to support that. Knowing our music well also helps with this. We can help the other players, especially if we know what their role is, and where they are in the song, or even in their musical development. We're a team, and we can be there for each other. Part of being a good “player” is to know what pastoral leadership is doing. Sometimes, pastors think like musicians. Sometimes. But this is not common. I've had pastors encourage me (in the moment) to “play a few bars of something while I pray.” They don't know what they want, but they ask for it. We need to know how to accommodate their requests, and often with very little notice. We might want to come back around and ask them to set us up for success with a little more planning…but some pastors just don't work like that, so flexibility is essential. When we know what the pastor is doing, especially if it's a departure from the plan, we can make adjustments, but we have to be “in the moment” and totally aware to be able to do this.On the same subject of being a good player, we need to know what the techs are doing. Sometimes, despite the best of intentions and efforts, a song form won't get communicated to the projectionist, and what is up on the screen for the congregation to sing is not what is on our music stand (or in our rehearsed set.) If this is the case, no matter how we've planned to sing the song, what trumps this is what we are “technically” telling the congregation is happening.Third, in terms of situational awareness, beyond the obvious need to know what to do should there be an emergency in the church (e.g. knowing the address, etc.), we also need to know if, on a much lesser level of seriousness, the service is going long. What do we need to do at this point? Does it fall to us to cut or abbreviate the final song? In an upcoming episode down the road, I'll unpack the value of communicating well with our teams, but I'll give you just a taste.I have been known to craft and rehearse two versions of a closing song – one unabridged, and the other abridged. These versions have corresponding slide shows. And I cue these visually, without a word. If my hands are at their sides, my body language is communicating that I'm in no hurry – therefore, the unabridged version will be used.If my hands are in “play” mode on the guitar – fretting hand on the neck, strumming hand at the strings – then I'm “raring to go” with the need to opt for the abridged version. Everyone – musicians, technicians, and especially the projectionist way up in the booth, gets the signal, and the length of the service is preserved, or at least kept close to “on track.”Fourth, in terms of social awareness, we need to know our part in the musical conversation. The best thing we can develop is our ability to listen, because then we can contribute intelligently to what is being discussed. (I'm being metaphorical in my language – I'm talking about the notes we play.) If a piano player is playing a high riff with lots of 16th notes, there's no need for us to re-state that on the guitar. We can play more sparsely in a lower register. We can also parallel the drum beat. Whatever the song requires. But we need to be “socially” aware so as to contribute well to the musical conversation.Fifth, like a defensive driver, we need to be on the lookout for when fellow bandmates change tempo, or even accidentally play wrong notes. Is it up to us to steer them back on course? Maybe. Or maybe we need to come alongside them. If a car in front of me stops unexpectedly, I need to change my course and stop as well, or we'll collide. So, if the drummer changes the tempo or does something unexpected, I, like a good driver, may need to imitate what he's doing, for sake of preserving the flow of the song.Sixth, and perhaps most important, I believe we need to be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit is doing in our musical offerings. More times than I can count, I've been a part of a worship experience where someone was prompted to sing a song again, or add a verse or chorus, or add another song, or linger on a song. Different church denominations approach this differently – some are more structured in their framework, others are more open to what might happen. But any time I've been prompted by the Holy Spirit in a worship setting and responded to that prompting, I've been grateful for what the Lord has done. And in performances, sometimes I've felt the Holy Spirit prompt me to sing a particular song at a concert that I wasn't planning to sing.I'll ask a rhetorical question – can the Holy Spirit guide us as we plan the worship sets or the concert sets? Absolutely. The Lord is a God of planning as well, so even if the Holy Spirit isn't prompting us in the moment on the platform, He may have already prompted us to put together the very song set we are playing.Unlimited PotentialAs we wrap up today, let me offer this closing thought. As worshipers, musicians and guitarists, we have tremendous potential as we use our gifts. But if we aren't aware, like each of these vignettes I've talked about today, we just might miss out on those opportunities to grow, to make an impact, or to be a blessing. So how aware are you as a guitarist? Have you learned some things today? If you have, I'd love to know. Please leave me a comment, a five-star review on Apple Podcasts, or both. And please also check out GuitarSuccess4U.com.Lastly, as a friendly reminder, four weeks ago in Episode 53 of Guitar Serious Fun, I made a humble request. And I'll ask once again. Would you give us some feedback on how we're doing with this blog/podcast, and whether we should keep it going? The survey should only take about 5 to 10 minutes and it can be found at www.GuitarSuccess4U.com/SeriousFunSurvey. I know I asked three or four things of you today, but I'm in an asking mood. Again, please comment, give us a high rating, check out GuitarSuccess4U, and take the Guitar Serious Fun survey. Any or all of these could bless me, but ultimately, future guitar players who could be sharpened by what I'm offering here…and could also bless you as a guitarist. Thanks for reading Guitar Serious Fun! I am your host, Melissa Oliveri. In our previous episode, Magpie and Julien get engaged during a holiday celebration with the Sarcelles at Carnifex House. In today's episode we read Chapter 27 – Mirror Pond - in which Lucas experiences the terrible winter of 1925 first hand.Be sure to listen through to the end of this episode for a preview of a podcast I quite enjoy called Spilling the Crime. Now, it's time to settle in… grab a blanket, and a warm drink… and let's get started. The terrible winter of 1925 has arrived. Shortly after the New Year's celebrations, weeks of frigid temperatures and relentless snow falls started taking their toll. Lucas remembers reading about it in Charlotte's letters and in the books and newspapers at the library, but never in his wildest dreams did he think he'd be living it. He is there when Charlotte and Edward pack up their house. He helps Edward and James carry their belongings to the attic. It takes the strength of all three of them to haul the silver-framed mirror that had once been the centerpiece of the dining room up two flights of stairs. He is there when Cerise disappears, leaving Charlotte devastated. He watches as she tearfully tucks the photo of James and Cerise into the lid of the trunk, the photo that he had once held in his hand, the photo that his younger self would find 90 years from now. Once everything is safely tucked away, he helps them wall off the staircase and build the closet in what would eventually become Magpie's room. He helps them pack their cart and watches with a heavy heart as they disappear down the road, travelling toward a future that is uncertain for them, but for which he already knows the outcome.Lucas hears about a man's tragic passing in a fire at a nearby farm, and his heart aches. He remembers reading about the incident while he and Magpie were doing research at the library, he remembers sitting in the man's abandoned barn with Magpie, the ruins of the farmhouse just a few yards away. But back then he didn't know the man, he had no connection to him. Things are different now. The man's name was Earl. He was a lovely, very hard-working man who was proud of his family. He was a wonderful father to his children, teaching them, entertaining them, caring for them. He and Lucas had worked side by side rebuilding the bunting's shed after the wind blew it down. History records events, it records people's accomplishments, but it doesn't record who people are, who they were, not in the most meaningful way. Articles about the tragedy didn't say “He carried his daughter up on his shoulders so she could reach to brightest, shiniest apple in the tree,” Lucas thinks sadly. With the Carnifex family gone, the Shearwaters have invited Lucas to stay with them at Meadow Lane. He and Farfalla announced their engagement over the holidays, to everyone's delight. It was the happiest Lucas had been in a long time, until the cold and snow removed all joy from the town of Pocket. The apple trees in the orchard were chopped down for firewood as the residents of Pocket became more and more desperate to stay warm. One of the last trees standing is the large oak that stands in front of Meadow Lane. Farfalla had desperately begged her father to preserve it, arguing that birds and animals were nesting in it and she couldn't bear the thought of chopping it down. Finally, Lucas had offered to go out to find more wood and Mr. Shearwater had relented.Lucas has spent the last few days riding through the fields with Cormorant, searching for any kind of tree the Shearwaters can use for firewood. They have been using what little reserves they have left sparingly, but the pile of wood is dwindling, with no sign of the bitter cold letting up. His first few excursions had been somewhat successful, he'd found some saplings that would tide them over for a few days. Today he has traveled farther than any other outing, but a blizzard blows in as he is making his way home, drastically reducing visibility. Lucas squints his eyes against the howling wind and nudges Cormorant in the general direction of Meadow Lane. They slowly plough through mounds of snow, the wind never relinquishing its hold on the air. Lucas can feel thoughts of Marius' untimely end creeping into his mind but pushes them away, he needs to focus on getting home to Farfalla. Suddenly, Lucas sees a flash of colour up ahead. He squints, leaning forward in the saddle to get a better look. He sees a girl sitting on a large rock. “Magpie?!” he says, his words carried away on the wind. Lucas reaches up to try and pull his scarf from his face so he can see better, but a gust of wind blows it out of his hand and onto Cormorant's face. The huge animal rears up in fear, throwing Lucas off its back. Lucas lands with a thud, the frozen ground instantly knocking the wind out of him. He can hear the sound of Cormorant galloping away, and takes a moment to catch his breath and think about what to do next. He thinks about the stories he and Magpie heard about Marius, how he disappeared in a snowstorm by Mirror Pond. If he is at Mirror Pond, then he isn't all that far away from Meadow Lane! If he can get up, he just might make it. Lucas turns onto his stomach and lifts himself up on all fours then waits a moment to make sure his arms and legs are unhurt. Suddenly, his hands slip out from under him, brushing away the snow on the surface of the pond and sending Lucas' face crashing against the ice. Out of nowhere he hears a man's voice. Lucas strains to make out the words. He senses movement nearby and rolls over onto his back to get a better view. An older man is leaning over him, a pleading look on his face. “Take me with you!” he says, “Please, you have to take me with you.” Lucas sees his bright white snowy surroundings fade to black as he loses consciousness. The man springs into action, groaning as he picks Lucas up off the ground and carries him as best he can toward the house at Meadow Lane. He finally reaches the front yard and leans Lucas up against the trunk of the oak tree on the front lawn. “I'm going to get help, I'll be right back,” says the man to a still unconscious Lucas, before racing toward the Starling farm across the road. A few moments later Lucas can feel himself slowly coming around. He keeps his eyes closed and wraps his arms around himself to fend off the bitter cold. On the wind he can hear the tinkling of a bell, he recognizes the sound of the Skylark Bell. “I must be near Meadow Lane!” he thinks, his eyes popping open. The world before him is washed in white. He can feel the trunk of the oak tree behind him and realizes the house is only a few yards behind. He props himself up against the tree and turns around. In the upstairs window of the house, he can see Farfalla dancing in front of her vanity mirror, her mouth moving like she is singing. He strains to hear, a very faint tune carrying on the wind, a tune that sounds vaguely familiar. Something about it sends a chill down Lucas' spine, a chill far worse than the burning cold of the blizzard. Lucas closes his eyes, and the singing gradually gets louder. He has no doubt about where he has heard it before. That surreal voice singing that mystical tune. He first heard it in the forest near Carnifex house, an ocean and a century away. Lucas feels dizzy and disoriented, and the sensation of his body and mind separating, floating away on the sound waves. The old man makes his way back to the oak tree. “I don't understand,” he says in shock, realizing that Lucas is gone. “He was right here!”The old man looks devastated as his shoulders slump in resignation. He knows Marius never made it back to Meadow Lane, he read about it years ago.Thank you so much for listening. Join me next week for Wingspan chapter 28, All That Could Have Been, where Lucas once again finds himself transported, this time back to Carnifex House, but his feeling of relief is short lived. The Skylark Bell is brought to you by Phaeton Starling Publishing and features original music by Cannelle. Most films are suffering the onslaught of The Batman, says James Cameron-Wilson, looking at the UK box office. This dark version of the Dark Knight, almost 3 long hours long, took £13.5m over the weekend, the 3rd highest since the pandemic. British indie comedy Ali & Ava made #9. James had reservations about Netflix's true-life survival drama Against The Ice, a Danish-Icelandic co-production. But he loved Portuguese The Metamorphosis of Birds, almost a new cinematic art form in itself, out in selected cinemas and on various streaming platforms. Learn more about your ad choices. "Against The Ice" is a survival film based on a true story with deep ties to Danish history. Emmy-nominated "Game Of Thrones" star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau co-wrote the screenplay about Captain Ejnar Mikkelsen's (who he also plays in the film) expedition in Greenland, which left him and his volunteer mate Iver Iversen (played by Joe Cole) stranded for over two years in an unforgivingly cold and harsh environment. Nikolaj was kind enough to spend time talking with me about coming across the story, working with Cole, what were the toughest and best parts of shooting, and more! Nieuwsgierig geworden? His exploits read like the stuff of legend. From sitting against the ice for hours on end, to swimming 100 yards under the frozen sea, to injecting an endotoxin into himself to prove that he could fight it off, Wim is a testament to mind over matter. The Ice Man is well known for discussing his techniques on breathing, cold emersion and mental fortitude, but in this episode of Complete Human, Wim reveals the connection he feels to all living things, and why it's time for the soul to now be timeless. This rare look at the Man behind the Legend gives us a deep sense of his passion for helping people and why he does what he does.Man's potential is limitless and many will look at Wim, especially in video's where he is buried in ice for hours, or running a marathon in the desert without water, or climbing mountains in just his shorts, and think that it's either a trick or that he is a freak, something Evan asked him in the interview.Wim goes on to explain his theory on Top Down Regulation and how it really is easy for people to control their own automimic nervous systems. He explains how the Wim Hof Method was designed to help people become Happy, Healthy and Strong. A Milton Academy hockey player suffered spine fractures and a brain hemorrhage after being slammed against the ice rink boards during a hockey tournament last month. In Fitchburg, where Jake Thibeault grew up, they are holding a fundraiser on October 23rd at Hollis Hills Farm to help the now paralyzed teen. Jake's dad, Mike, along with Milton Academy head coach Paul Cannata join Dan to share an update on Jake's progress and what comes next.
BIG TW ON THIS EPISODE! DAN'S SECOND STORY CONTAINS GRAPHIC DETAILS OF TORTURE AND MURDER. VERY EXPLICIT! "A tap tap tapping beneath his feet made him jump. It sounded like something was just underneath the ice. Caleb watched, frozen in fear…. as the dark outline of a hand pressed against the ice from below. Tap tap tap...." In Dan's half of the show, he takes us to Connecticut! A somewhat hilarious story of a man trying to move his house across a frozen lake leads to the house sinking. And while that is is own kind of horror, the real fun begins when the rumors flare. Supposedly, the house sinks to the bottom of the lake where the piano left inside is now played by ghosts. Turns out, there might be someone under the ice. Then in story number two, we travel to Hong Kong. A sad, tragic story leads to one very scary tale. A young women is brutalize and murdered for stealing from her pimp. After dying at the hands of her torturer, she returns to seek her revenge. Lynze has 3 back to back to back stories that are all just a little bit odd. A UFO sighting that was confirmed by multiple sources, a little girl conjures up a new friend in the mirror and possibly haunted hotel or the very least, a very sketchy situation. Combine all three for maximum spoops! New Merch: New Scared to Death playing cards in the store now at badmagicmerch.com. Især hans mærkelige tv-serie The Strange World of Gurney Slade, som er kommet på dvd. Og til sidst har Jakob en engelsk film 1959, der fascinerede ham - og som ligger på Youtube. Den hedder Sapphire. A portal rod has been found! Unfortunately it was highly magnetic so could not be moved from its deadly spear spouting metal frame. The irresistible magnetic force announced itself by pulling the platemail wearing Cran onto the pole-arms, spitting him like a kebab. Later, the metal clad Victoria was yanked in too and smashed against the icewall cast to protect against the spears. Seconds from death she was healed in time but it left Ugnan carrying a debilitating injury who was laid down to rest, out of the proceedings for now. As he drifted in and out, he heard Orgiana's voice in his head again, this time giving warning that danger approached and an offer to help. Trying to resist falling any further into the Dark Gods service, he politely refused. Warned of the oncoming threat, the two main warriors, now devoid of metal arms and armour to be able to move about the room, looked for something to defend themselves with just as Numal confirmed the presence of dark shapes stalking down the corridor towards the cornered party...You're listening to a Rolemaster Classic Actual Play set in Terry K Amthor's excellent Shadow World using Fantasy Grounds. You can find session summaries, items and characters on World Anvil where our campaign is called "The Praise of Old men" ( https://www.worldanvil.com/w/shadow-world-ancellus ).6:40 Start of skirmish1:03:52 The Ashling StoneWatch on YouTube: https://youtu.be/euRy7JhMw_giTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/wolfshield-actual-play/id1461466298Streamed live most Fridays at 19.30ish UTC: https://www.twitch.tv/majykfngrzEmail: vids@wolfshield.co.ukTwitter: @wolf_shieldFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/WolfshieldApps/
You've found the Crowley Show and the Penguins continue their March tonight against the ice cats, but we start with Crowley explains how the Steelers can be a better team next year even though they are losing AB this offseason. We then get into the Pens game tonight against the Panthers and how they need to take care of business against a team like this. We talked about the Cameo app a lot yesterday, and today we raise the question, does AB's involvement in this app add smoke to the fire in regards to his financial well being? It's then time for the Five Minute Major, hockey sounds and hockey takes all at the same time. Innovation baby.

LCHF Family 009: School Lunches Released: August 10, 2017 In this episode, we share a bunch of options for healthy, nutritious, real-food, LCHF lunches for your kiddos (or yourself)! First off, Amazon has a bunch of options for bento-style lunch boxes. These will help a great deal in reducing waste as you pack your child's lunch. This one comes in three colors, is leak proof, and the company offers coordinating ice packs. This option would be best for elementary-age appetites. This option is also leak proof but holds up to a liter of food, so would be better for teens and adults. Also, check out these adorable cookie cutters! Or these animal-shaped ones! Perfect for sprucing up an elementary child's cheese and deli meat. Make the food fun! Abby has some of these and loves to use them from time to time when she makes lunch. If you're thinking of making some LCHF-friendly crackers, here are recipes for 100% cheese crackers (you don't have to add the spices!) and almond flour crackers. There's also a recipe in Eat Happy. Great options for all your crackery needs! If you want to try a tamagoyaki-style omelet, here's a link to a pan, and here are one, two, three recipes. As you can see in the 2nd recipe, you don't NEED the special pan. It's just there if you want to be "official" about it. Remember to use butter, coconut, or olive oil in your preparation, and leave out the sugar in these recipes! That video I mentioned about keeping an avocado green is available here. From personal experience since recording this episode, I can vouch for the "leave the pit in the avocado" method. It seems to keep it green for 2-3 days. Fathead rolls, 90-second almond bread (scroll to the very bottom), cloud bread, and keto loaf are all options for those days when they are really hankering for a sandwich. Gnocchi made from cheese and egg--great for an LCHF-style pasta salad. I'm not linking you to any fat bombs that require artificial sweetener or honey or agave or dates or, or, or. If they do mention a sweetener, it's listed as optional. Walk away from the fake stuff. It's no good for you or your kids. Even stevia. I dug through TONS of recipes that included that chemically, fake junk so you don't have to. Ok, off my soapbox... Here's an orange walnut fat bomb, cinnamon bun fat bomb, coconut fat bomb, ginger fat bomb (This one doesn't say the sweetener is optional, but it's such a small amount, you should be safe leaving it out. Try it and let me know if it doesn't work!), lemon fat bomb, almond pistachio fat bombs, and healthy Valentine hearts. Remember: I picked these because the sweetener is optional. Don't even add it! Fat bombs sometimes soften up at room temperature, so if you send these in a school lunch, make sure they are packed right up against the ice pack! At 4pm on 6 October 2008, as the global financial crisis ravaged Iceland's economy, its prime minister addressed the nation. "There is a danger, fellow citizens," he said, "that Iceland could be sucked into the whirlpool and the result could be national bankruptcy. It was decided this morning to suspend trading with the banks. God Bless Iceland.” The message was clear. Iceland was about to do what no other country had done - let its banking sector fail. And that was only the start. Over the coming years, Iceland would go on to do much more - clean up its banks and prosecute many senior bankers. And the story is still unfolding. Just two months ago, five more bank executives were jailed. So how exactly has Iceland done it? What happened next to Iceland's economy? And why aren't other nations following Iceland's example? A very sly episode in which we creepily wink at one another, discover techno music is secretly brainwashing us with Morse code and establish the conversation hierarchy. - We ask out everyone in our contact list and then punctuate our sentences with a wink. - We ask why Funniest Home videos are still using footage from 1997. - Vicki’s sister in law gets tricked into a date and we learn emu’s make the best wing women. - We catch the NightRider with savoury characters as far as the eye can see. - We go out of our way to avoid small talk and get confronted about watching porno at work. - Captain Awesome and C-Bomb face off against The Iceman and No Date. - We reminisce about The Amazing Live Sea Monkeys and Australian TV in the 90s. - Ben thinks when people talk about going clubbing they’re trying to seem cool. Vicki thinks he’s crazy. - Vicki’s dad tells her about Nazi Germany and the one song he likes. - Ben’s dad taught himself to eat olives in the Israeli desert. - Carly Rae Jepsen is as crazy as she claims. - We establish the conversation hierarchy and Vicki’s friend stands around.
