It was the turn of the century, and everything was meant to be crumbling. The Y2K bug had been and gone, but people were still unsure of their future - or the future of the planet for that matter - but amid all the gloom and chaos emerged a beacon of light, headed by a brother/sister combination, both still in their teens. That band was called Killing Heidi and the release that changed it all, coming out in 2000, was Reflector.Propelled by hit singles Weir, Mascara and Superman/Supergirl, Killing Heidi, and particular teenage frontwoman Ella Hooper, became the voice for disenfranchised youth everywhere. Their songs, filled with hope and belonging, gave people a view to a brighter future, which, coupled with the rags-to-riches story that accompanied the Hooper siblings, resonated with a much wider audience than the band's teenage demographic would suggest. The band would go on to release another two albums over the next 25 years, plus took a ten-year break, but will forever be known and loved for that debut album. Now, a quarter of a century on, Killing Heidi are celebrating Reflector by re-releasing the album as well as heading out on tour to take their music to the nation.Jesse and Ella both joined HEAVY to discuss 25 years of Killing Heidi."We're pretty stoked," Jesse enthused. "We're getting the band back together for the 25-year anniversary of our debut album Reflector, and doesn't that make you feel young and old (laughs). We tend to mainly do festivals with Killing Heidi over the last eight years, so we're stepping back into our own headline shows, which is really exciting for us. We're going to play Reflector in full - which we've never done before - and it's gonna be a party.""This is a big deal for us," Ella added. "We're putting on our big girl pants and doing our own headline tour with some amazing support acts as well."In the full interview, Jesse and Ella discussed the tour in greater detail, reflected on their debut album and the success it brought them, ask what the album actually means to them, their thought process going into the album and their initial hopes, which of the songs are most personal to them, their youth at the time Reflector came out and if the success of the album forced them to grow up quickly, how those songs helped shape the people they are today, playing the album in full and how difficult it was to learn all of the songs and more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Iva Davies was born and raised in regional Australia, where his early exposure to music set the stage for his remarkable career. Trained as a classical musician, he excelled as an oboist. However, the allure of rock music and the emerging punk and new wave scenes in the 70s inspired him to shift gears. Influenced by artists like David Bowie, Roxy Music, and Brian Eno, Iva began exploring electronic and experimental sounds, which would later define Icehouse's unique style. In 1977, Davies formed Flowers with bassist Keith Welsh, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in Australian music. Originally a covers band, Flowers soon began incorporating original material. Their raw energy and Iva's charismatic stage presence quickly made them a favourite in Sydney's pub rock circuit. The release of their debut album, Icehouse, in 1980, was a game-changer. Featuring tracks like "We Can Get Together" and "Can't Help Myself," the album showcased a blend of new wave, punk, and synth-driven rock. Its success led to an international record deal but a legal conflict over the name Flowers prompted the band to rebrand as Icehouse. As Icehouse, the group became a vehicle for Iva's creative vision. Their 1982 album, Primitive Man, marked a major turning point. The album included the upbeat "Great Southern Land," a song that became an unofficial Australian anthem. The next album, Sidewalk (1984), showcased Davies' maturing songwriting and reflected his growing interest in themes of isolation and urban life. Though less commercially successful than its predecessor, it set the stage for the band's magnum opus, Man of Colours (1987). Man of Colours was Icehouse's most commercially successful album, cementing their place as global stars. Tracks like "Electric Blue," co-written with John Oates of Hall & Oates dominated international charts. The album resonated with fans worldwide. In Australia, Man of Colours became the highest-selling album of 1987 and earned multiple ARIA Awards, including Album of the Year. Iva's passion for technology and experimentation was evident throughout Icehouse's career. He embraced cutting-edge digital synthesizers and recording techniques, creating a sound that was both innovative and timeless. In addition to his work with Icehouse, Iva composed scores for films like Razorback (1984) and collaborated with the Sydney Dance Company on Boxes (1985) and Berlin (1995), blending classical and modern musical elements. Despite lineup changes and shifts in the music industry, Icehouse remained a beloved act. In the 1990s, the band released Code Blue (1990) and Big Wheel (1993), which explored deeper and more personal themes. Although these albums didn't match the commercial heights of earlier works, they reinforced Davies' reputation as a versatile and introspective artist. By the 2000s, Icehouse focused on live performances, reconnecting with fans through nostalgia-fueled tours. Davies also reworked classic tracks for the 2011 album Icehouse: White Heat 30 Hits, which celebrated the band's enduring legacy. Iva Davies and Icehouse have left an indelible mark on Australian music and beyond. Great Southern Land is regularly cited as one of Australia's greatest songs, and Icehouse's albums continue to influence generations of musicians. Davies' fusion of classical training, electronic innovation, and rock sensibility has made him one of Australia's most iconic and enduring musical talents. Today Icehouse remains active, with Iva at the helm, performing to loyal audiences and to new fans. The band are celebrated as pioneers of Australian music and continue to bridge the gap between the past and the future of rock and electronic sounds. Catch Icehouse when they headline the RED HOT SUMMER TOUR starting January 2025. Supported by several other notable Australian bands in Noiseworks, Wolfmother, Eskimo Joe, Baby Aniamls, Killing Heidi and Bachelor Girl - this is sure to be an incredible outdoor music festival.

Stu Watts chats with Calvin Bennett, a Western Australian-based producer, songwriter and musician whose credits list to date reads like that of someone at least 10 years his senior. Having signed last year a worldwide distribution deal with Downtown Music Services/DashGo, Bennett's successes to date include two Western Australian Music Song of the Year Awards (and another seven nominations) for both his solo work and indie-pop duo Farraday's Cage who was awarded the Nannup Music Festival Emerging Artist Award, has enjoyed national airtime on radio Triple J and have supported the likes of San Cisco, Justice Crew and Killing Heidi. Mellow and understated are two words that could also describe Bennett's personality, basing his work on total transparency as he establishes himself as a go-to producer for any and all musical ideas, which you can hear on collaborations with modern lo-fi innovators like 9ick, 7ove and Soul Food Horns, as well as fellow local artists on the rise including Alannah Chapman, Elianie, Jewel Owusu and Jarrod Jeremiah. Now running Studio 156 in Perth, WA, with producer Roc, next up for Bennett will be a slew of more productions, both expanding his solo catalogue as well as his reputation as a musical production nomad, working with a range of artists from L.A. to Europe as he draws closer to his goal of global writing residencies. Join Gleeso on Triple M Nights as he welcomes the legendary James Reyne, who is embarking on the highly anticipated 'Way Out West' Tour alongside Ella Hooper of Killing Heidi. With the tour set to kick off on June 23, we get an exclusive preview of what fans can expect, including exciting secret collaborations that are sure to leave audiences buzzing. However, it hasn't been a smooth journey for James Reyne, as he shares the story behind the rescheduling of the first leg of the tour. A mishap in Surry Hills left him with a broken ankle and a cracked rib, prompting him to reflect humorously, "Did I fall over, or did I have a fall? I'm at that age now where it's like, 'Aw, James had a fall.'" In addition to discussing the upcoming tour, the conversation delves into Ella Hooper's recent record, 'Small Town Temple,' and sheds light on how this exciting collaboration between James Reyne and Ella Hooper came to fruition. Listeners are treated to a special rendition of the iconic 1992 hit, 'Way Out West,' originally performed by James Reyne and James Blundell, highlighting the enduring appeal of this timeless track. Furthermore, James Reyne expresses his admiration for the late Broderick Smith of The Dingoes, the original songwriter of 'Way Out West,' and highlights the significant influence he has had on numerous artists, despite often going unrecognized. Gleeso takes a moment to acknowledge James Reyne's immense contribution to Australian music, applauding his role in bringing local talent to the forefront, even amidst the domination of international artists in the market. We also explore the enduring popularity of Australian Crawl's iconic anthem, 'Reckless,' with Gleeso noting that every time he witnesses James Reyne perform it live, the crowd's fervent sing-along is twice as loud, a testament to the lasting impact of the song across the country.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Interview by Erin EddyThere aren't too many bands that are as Australian as Frenzal Rhomb. The tongue-in-cheek humour, the larrikin antics, the accented vocals, and the disorderly, rowdy energy are all traits synonymous with the punk rockers, who have been spreading their infectious high jinks and raucous music for 31 years now. Here at HEAVY, we took advantage of a moment with guitarist Lindsay McDougall while he was on the job at ABC Radio, Illawarra.“I'm speaking to you on the ABC's dime; That's right, this is taxpayer funded right now!” Lindsay cheekily told us.The purpose of our chat was to speak about the upcoming Spring Loaded Festival, which Frenzal Rhomb is featured on, as well as Lindsay himself being the MC for the event. But it's hard to speak with someone like Lindsay, from a band with as much history as Frenzal, and not slide a little off track and reflect on days past, especially if you're a long-time fan.In the following interview you'll hear discussion on the 2001 Big Day Out, stealing Killing Heidi's vodka, their VHS The Travelling Flea Circus and anecdotes about past experiences touring overseas. When we did speak of Spring Loaded, Lindsay expressed that the familiarity of sharing the line up with old friends is a definite joy.“It's nice playing with a bunch of old pricks that have the same level of cynicism as us,” he jokes, “I do wonder where the high jinks on this tour will come from and from which bands will the nonsense originate from.”“I'm excited to see who in the Shihad camp gets unnecessarily drunk by the end of it!”Given that this festival is stacked with a line up to make any 90's kid froth, we asked Lindsay whether Frenzal Rhomb's set was likely to be more geared toward a nostalgic vibe.“Nah, fuck that!” He laughs, “We do a lot of new stuff. We love not relying on nostalgia. We use nostalgia, we'll pull it out, but we've just put a new album out and we've loved playing songs from the new album at the last couple of shows that we've done. So if you've come to see us play just songs from Not So Tough Now, bad luck!”The new album Lindsay speaks of is titled The Cup Of Pestilence. It was released only last month, and Lindsay says the songs are more involved and complex than ever.“We wrote really hard songs to play and to sing. They seem to be only getting more difficult, too. Because we've all been playing instruments for long enough, Jason knows he can get away with writing these really hard songs for us to play.”If you're in the area, make sure you head to Sandstone Point for the Spring Loaded Festival atSandstone Point Hotel this Saturday June 3. Tickets are still on sale and can be purchased via Ticketmaster or Oztix. And if you can't make it to Spring Loaded, Frenzal Rhomb will be on the road across the country as they continue to tour their latest record The Cup Of Pestilence, so keep an eye out for dates near you.Have a listen to our full interview with Lindsay to get the complete scoop on all of this and more!

After a 4 year hiatus, Ella Hooper has shared her brand new single OLD NEWS.Old News has been hailed as a new beginning for Ella, who was still a teenager when she burst onto the Australian music scene fronting Killing Heidi. Ella left High School halfway through Year 11 to concentrate on Killing Heidi. She states that the first time she heard her voice on the radio was on the school bus. “For a long time, I felt awkward about my success, that I had to apologise for it,” Ella reveals. “Becoming a bit of an overnight success with Killing Heidi really presented its challenges. I've had a complicated relationship with my career, but I don't feel hamstrung by that anymore.”“I guess Old News is a message to myself,” she adds. “It's okay to be ambitious and still have dreams.”The tour will commence in WA on October 20, before moving on to Victoria, SA and QLD, and winding up in Sydney with Mary's Underground on November 25 and Centro, Wollongong on November 26. It also includes what will no doubt be a massive night for Cup Eve at Northcote Social Club in Melbourne (Monday October 31). With two shows down and only one remaining in Melbourne this Saturday, May 7, it's fair to make an early call and declare the first year of Uncaged Festival to be a resounding success.Carting an all Aussie line-up from Sydney to Brisbane and now Melbourne, Uncaged has truly been a diverse musical festival, featuring bands like Wolfmother, You Am I, Tex Perkins & The Fat Rubber Glove, Shihad, 12 Foot Ninja, Killing Heidi, 28 Days, Bodyjar and more, taking fans down memory lane while also treating them to a display from some of the finest up and comings bands this country has to offer. With the finish line in sight, HEAVY sat down with 12 Foot Ninja guitarist Stevic for his take on the run of shows thus far."They've been awesome,” he enthused of the first two shows, “we had a blast. It's been a really fun festival. All of the crew and staff have all run things super well. The bands have been awesome... yeah, I can't complain mate, it's been a good time."When I point out that many at the recent Brisbane leg of the tour at Eaton's Hill thought 12 Foot Ninja were one of the standouts of the day, the normally unflappable Stevic ALMOST looked like he might blush."Thanks, that means a lot,” he managed. “We just had a good time. It's like a ripple effect. If the band is having fun, then most of the time it's fun to watch."In the full interview, Stevic talks more about Uncaged, being part of something like this, how 12 Foot Ninja approach festival shows compared to their own, guest vocalist Kayla who wowed the Brisbane audience, a headlining tour of Australia later this year and more.
After being delayed since last year due to the dreaded Spicy Cough, Australia's newest – and Aussie bands only – festival Uncaged is finally within sight of the first show in Sydney on April 23.Uncaged features an eclectic collection of bands, covering everything from rock to punk to metal and bringing them all together under one banner to provide a diverse line-up of bands that will have something to please everyone.Wolfmother, You Am I, Magic Dirt, The Superjesus, Killing Heidi, Tex Perkins and Shihad head the one day festival which will visit Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, as well as a host of local bands such as Twelve Foot Ninja, Bodyjar, Tumbleweed, 28 Days, The Hard-Ons and more.Sydney punk/rock outfit Molly & The Krells are along for all three shows, with vocalist/ bass player Blake Cateris joining HEAVY to chat about the run of shows and what it means for the band to play all of the shows."Man, it's...,” he measured, “we were surprised when we got asked to do it. I was like, let me ask the guys, and then he said do you want to just play Sydney or do you want to do all of them? And I said, is that an option? Of course, we want to do all of them, so it came out of nowhere but Danny has always been a big fan of Molly and what we do, and Danny and I have quite a few musical similarities so we always bonded over that."The lineup of bands covers many genres, with the diversity of music a main feature of Uncaged. We press Cateris on what he thinks Molly & The Krells bring to the festival."For diversity I reckon,” he shrugged “From memory there's not a lot of poppy, punky bands that are on the bill and I think it adds for a little diversity and a modern touch to what's going on in that lineup. Not to say the other bands are old but in terms of what's happening these days there's just a handful of acts. It's good to have a bit of youth and some young bloods on the lineup."In the full interview, Blake talks about the bands he is looking forward to playing with, what the band will take out of performing alongside some heavyweights, where he sees Uncaged heading in the future, tips on lasting the day, what we can expect from their set, whether the band will be playing any new songs, their last single Silver & Gold and the response it received from Rolling Stone, future plans and more.

It's been so long. I wanted to play big time in 2020 but that was off the table, so I'm more than dying to get back on stage."W press further and ask whether he is more excited, nervous, r anxious about getting back out on stage again which brought a smile to Stevenson's face."All of the above,” he laughed. “We've got a new lineup of musicians so we've been doing a lot of practicing in preparation. It's been such a long time since we've been on stage, so definitely nervous, but excited. I'm sure it's going to be great."In the full interview, Rohan discusses the diverse line-up and where I Built The Sky fit in, the importance of homegrown festivals, who he is most looking forward to seeing, tips on how to last the festival without peaking too early, the possibility of new music being played at the shows, upcoming album The Quiet Place Away, future plans and more.

He's got balls, and what could be more attractive than a man with very big balls?"Another aspect where festival organisers are ahead of the game is their decision to take most of the line-up to each city rather than chop and change the roster depending on location. It shows confidence in the ability and drawing power of individual bands and is something that surely must increase the confidence of localized outfits, knowing the people behind the scenes have faith in their performance."Honestly, we're a pretty confident band to begin with,” Coops replied, tongue firmly planted in cheek. “It's funny. I actually had someone that I work with who had no idea that I play in a band - which is funny considering how much ink I have on my body and all that kind of thing - and she said that she had listened to some of the music and she couldn't understand why we weren't bigger and I could have gone into the whole spiel about the state of the music industry and all that kind of thing but it's actually something that we get a lot. People that take the time to listen to it often come back and say how come you guys aren't doing more stuff? Well, you know, that's the game. The thing that we really do, that we can really... not rest laurels on... but where we get our confidence from, is playing live. We are the best live band in the world, and I don't mind that getting out. If anyone that plays in a band doesn't think that about their own band, then why fucken play live? I know that really we're not the best but I like to think that we are. At least that we're up there (laughs)."In the full interview, Coops goes into greater details on why El Colosso are amongst the best bands in the world (and almost convinces us that they are in the process), what sorts of things a band can take out of playing festivals such as Uncaged, how important home grown festivals are for the future of Australian music, survival tips to make sure you are still standing for the final band, El Colosso's sound and where it comes from, future plans and more.

How's that for a podcast title, we can only hope it's rolling past your eyes on repeat via the display of your digital radio or Spotify app. We are not sorry, we are actually warning you that this episode has a lot of dick built into its contents. We'll explain more after Em sorts the introduction, which is where she spontaneously created that title (I did take note of it Em, and obviously totes loving it, it's also way better than her other suggested option of ‘Dick Chat') there's a lot of side quest action in the intro, so can we get a huzzah for that? HUZZAH! First up we need to talk about an article that sent Em into an emotional tailspin, but in true side quest realness we also cover off the continuing obsession with Em being on ‘The Masked Singer'. There's all the action that goes on within the Emsolation Facebook Group to reflect, which includes some VERY effective photoshopping, plus the news that some believed Em was Baby has been proved wrong after Killing Heidi front woman Ella Hooper revealed herself to be under the baby mask. Anyway, this article is a good chance for all of us to check our own internalised misogyny, after a Mamamia journalist chose to trot out the labels ‘outspoken' and ‘controversial' when describing Em. Those two words trigger Em on a number of levels and she is calling for all of us to try and stop using words like ‘outspoken', ‘controversial' or ‘opinionated' to describe women who have thoughts and feelings they want to share publicly. You'll hear why she finds it tiring as part of the introduction and then we'll bring Michael back so we can talk dick pics. Michael is understandably shook that this is the FIRST he's hearing about a dick pic that apparently arrived in Em's possession 4 DAYS EARLIER! Once that's been worked through, we get to the meat of the problem. Well actually, we first have to talk about all the hairdo's being rocked on the Grand Final footy field, because of course we do. Obviously I'm not about to ruin any of the chat about the rogue wang picture turning up in Em's DM's, but it was a moral quandary that Em AND her two daughters had to work through together. Somehow that then leads to chat about a Italian hand painted ceramic leopard statue that is charging stupid money in order to own it. Em wanted it so much that she took up gambling in an attempt to secure it so she could add it to her interior decor collection. You'll find out if she was successful or if her gambling adventure ended in broken dreams that didn't include ceramic hand painted realness being added to her menagerie within. Look at us with all our hooking and teasing and not revealing what's going on within the podcast in fine details. Then it's onto something that apparently ISN'T small and shaped like a toadstool. This time around I will reveal that we did say this episode was a bit dick heavy and this is the second reference to peen. Sadly it relates to the news that the first of Trump's former White House staff have begun releasing their tell all books. Yep, we know, vomit, but we promise you'll also get confirmation that a LOT of what Em and Michael thought Melania might be up to, was actually happening, plus learn some of the nicknames White House staff had for certain members of Trump's family. Finally it's onto the big dick energy (or BDE as it's more commonly referred to) that seems to ooze from every pore of American rapper, singer and songwriter, Lil Nas X. Em and Michael are huge fans of how he works every angle of his social media profile and how he's able to build his career and success by delivering one groundbreaking event after another. So dive in face first, we promise you won't get a slap to the face with anything other than sassy comments and much hilarity, plus there's exciting news to wrap things up that include the words ‘bonus' and ‘episode', squeaaal, I'll say nothing else, get amongst it all NOW! We had the pleasure of interviewing Eliza & The Delusionals from the House of Blues in San Diego! *This interview was recorded prior to the COVID-19 pandemic* Eliza & The Delusionals have never been afraid to think big. “The goal has always been to play huge shows,” says singer-guitarist Eliza Klatt, who founded the Northern New South Wales/Gold Coast band in 2015. Over the past few years that dream has slowly become a reality as the group’s sweetly snarling, anthemic brand of indie rock has led to supports with artists such as Grinspoon, Nothing But Thieves, Dear Seattle and Killing Heidi, appearances at landmark festivals such as BIGSOUND, Falls Festival and Canadian Music Week, and major radio support both locally and internationally. After a slew of well-received early singles, the band’s climb was kickstarted in earnest by 2017 debut EP The Deeper End. A potent mix of buzz-saw guitars, ear-worm melodies and Klatt’s undeniable vocal hooks, singles such as “Salt” instantly caught the attention of national broadcaster triple j. “We’re just writing songs we want to hear ourselves,” says guitarist Kurt Skuse. “You hear us in our purest form in our writing.” Skuse and Klatt go back years, living down the street from each other as kids. They reconnected in the Gold Coast’s thriving band scene, with Skuse joining alongside guitarist Ashley Martin, a friend of Klatt’s at university, to solidify the line up. The extended periods on the road since have acted as a steep learning curve, while fusing the band into a tightly-wound live unit. "We learned how to put our live set and show together through the experience of watching bigger-scale bands do it” says Klatt. You can hear that experience in recent singles “Pull Apart Heart” and “Just Exist”, the first taste of the group’s forthcoming second EP. The latter in particular introduces a more mature subtlety to their sound, with Klatt ruminating on finding a balance between creativity and good mental health against a slowly building and insistent melody. The song has connected in a big way, particularly in the United States and Canada, with Alt Nation – the flagship alternative rock channel of SiriusXM – crowning it their ‘Critical Cut’ and adding “Just Exist” to high rotation. The listeners responded in kind, voting it Number 1 on the Weekly ALT18 countdown, where it remained in the Top 10 for more than a month. The flow on effect has been remarkable, with more than a dozen stations across America – including national network Music Choice and influential outlets in New York, California, Texas and Florida – adding “Just Exist”. The band’s Spotify listenership has jumped by nearly 100% overall and a whopping 400+% in America, while “Just Exist” has exceeded 600,000 streams. Recently crowned Amazon’s Music’s “Weekly One” and “Song of the Week” in the States, the band’s Shazams have also surged by more than 900%. Having signed with renowned US agency APA for North America, the doors are well and truly starting to open for Eliza & The Delusionals internationally. Those huge shows are getting closer every day We want to hear from you! Ella Hooper chats to HEAVY Mag about how excited she is to be kicking off 2021 with Trip The Switch.
The festival season is kicking back in, with several large scale shows already being announced for next year.Among them is Scene & Heard, set down for February 21 in Newcastle, a festival made up of some of last centuries most popular - and still relevant - acts. One of which is Grinspoon, the festival headliners and voice of the downtrodden youth since the release of Guide To Better Living in 1997, an album which to this day still serves as an unofficial anthem for those who like to live life moderately outside of conventional parameters.Guitarist Pat Davern sat down with HEAVY during the week to discuss the show and more."After the year that we've just had it's hard not to get excited," he laughed when asked about the performance. "Let's hear it for 2021!"With so many classic Australian bands on the lineup - including Regurgitator, COG, Frenzal Rhomb, Ratcat, Killing Heidi, Caligula and Custard, Davern has likely toured and/or played with all of them at one stage of Grinspoon's existence but it would be nice to know which of them is the most fun."Frenzal Rhomb are always good ones to tour with," he replied without hesitation. "We've toured with a lot of those guys, especially in the States in the '90s with the Warped Tour and things like that. The whole line-up looks pretty good but we've always been big fans of Regurgitator and what they do so we'll be looking forward to seeing those guys. I think it's just great there's no internationals because there can't be! It's a huge, open market for Australian music next year which will be awesome for the festival scene and the music scene in general."In the full interview, Pat talks more about Scene & Heard, runs us through a bit of nostalgic history about Grinspoon, talks potential new music, discusses the legacy of Guide To Better Living and more.

When you think of iconic Australian bands from the late 90's, you can't go past Grinspoon who have been tearing up stages for the better part of the past 24 years (yes we're including the hiatus too, eat me!) and they're set to do it all again celebrating their BEST songs for a special edition vinyl which will coincide with a massive Australian tour and this week frontman Phil Jamieson joins the show to talk all about it. Join podcast host Browny as he takes a look back at the band's two and a bit decades in the music industry and the pair reflect on where they've come from to what's next. Is there new music on the way? What hasn't Phil crossed off that "bucket list" yet and what about those rumours of him appearing on Australian Survivor last year? Were they true and would he consider it in future seasons? All that and more are covered in the pair' chat. Plus, we go wayyyyy back into the Australian music scene and revive songs from bands you probably haven't heard in a long time (or at all) including classics from TISM, Gyroscope, Lash, The Vines, Happyland, Kisschasy, Frenzal Rhomb, Killing Heidi, Silverchair, Regurgitator, Bodyjar, 28 Days, Wolfmother and the brand new single from The Butterfly Effect even gets a spin too. #WoSUATW #PhilJamieson #Grinspoon #ChemicalHeart #AustralianBands #TISM #Gyroscope #Bodyjar #28Days #Kisschasy #Happyland #TheVines #Lash #KillingHeidi #FrenzalRhomb #Regurgitator #Silverchair #Wolfmother #TheButterflyEffect #Hellyeah #Podcast #MusicPodcast #WallOfSoundAU

The members have undergone extensive music and performance training and specialise in a range of genres from jazz to heavy metal. Their combined powers make for a diverse and highly skilled songwriting team, taking no time at all to move from their once virtual anonymity to becoming a house hold name. Receiving spots and rotations on community and commercial radio, features in Rolling Stone Magazine, Tone Deaf, Music Feeds & more and earning a fierce reputation for crafting an adventurous live show described by The Music, as both “Intense” & “Magical” as well as receiving a nomination as ‘Best Live Act’, 2018 by the National Live Music Awards alongside Ball Park Music and Hockey Dad. It's hard to believe that Killing Heidi are celebrating their 20th anniversary. Pip spoke to the group's Ella Hooper.
What better way to celebrate our 10th episode of Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall, than by joining in on the celebrations The Getaway Plan are currently having for the 10th Anniversary of their debut album Other Voices, Other Rooms which they're touring across Australia at the moment. Matt Wright co-hosts with Browny to go back in time and discuss what was going on with the band when all of a sudden they were thrown into stardom and success on the back of the album's two huge singles 'Streetlights' and 'Where The City Meets The Sea' and how being young, dumb and inexperienced may have impacted the band's future.
