The ancient Greeks often told of the Sirens, who with their beautiful songs of... 69'ing... would cause you to cut your nipples off. And they were right! In our first truly Aqua Teen-less episode, Carl spends some time with his new kinky mythological neighbors. What they're into isn't Carl's cup of tea... but his credit card is maxed out so he has no other option. Dave Willis briefly joins us to talk about getting John Kruk, Kelly Hogan, and Neko Case on this nipple-centric episode. We're also getting into this episode's Hellraiser influence, Carl's spinoff series "I'm Pissed," and how Markula steals the show on this episode. Other topics discussed include the spoof films of the aughts (and why they died), Robert Plant's dick outline, getting low to Low, a swashbuckling MMORPG that refuses to die, and why wooden paneling truly is the best feature. Unleash the beast and crank up the volume, because Metal Massacre is back with another face-melting episode that's guaranteed to thrash your soul into oblivion! In the first half, the guys delve into Static X's electrifying performance at Steelhouse Omaha. They explore how Xero seamlessly fills the void left by Wayne Static's tragic passing, embodying his spirit while adding a fresh twist to the mix. Plus, they share their love for Steelhouse Omaha and emphasize the crucial role of a skilled sound technician and top-notch live technique. Dusty and Lucian later on kick it with the relentless riff-rippers, Cameron and Karl from the North Dakota death metal leviathan, Gorgatron. As Gorgatron prepares to unleash their latest auditory assault, "Sentience Revoked," the guys break down the dark inspirations behind the album and their mission to deliver a full-throttle experience that transcends the boundaries of traditional metal brutality. From bone-crushing breakdowns to their uncompromising stage presence, this episode delves into the band's evolution, their relentless touring escapades, and the guttural growls that define their sound. Amidst setting up a wrestling event and finding refuge in a janitor's closet to chat, Cameron and Karl reveal the hilarity that ensues on the road and the punk rock guilt that fuels their fire. Whether they're slamming through tables or serving up a sinister soundscape, Gorgatron's dedication to their craft and their fans is unyielding. Metal Massacre is your all-access pass to the maelstrom of mayhem that is Gorgatron's world. So strap in, headbang, and embrace the chaos—this is where metal lives, breathes, and conquers. And remember, in the words of Gorgatron, "High tide raises all ships," so let's set sail into the storm together! (10/18/23) - Talking Machine Killer North American Tour, Project Regeneration, Wayne Static and much more ahead of the band's Des Moines show on Friday

Interview by Kris PetersWhen the enigmatic and universally loved frontman of LA industrial/heavy outfit Static X passed away in 2014 many thought that was the end for the band as well.Wayne Static WAS Static X - just by virtue of the name alone - and to try and find anyone to replicate his on stage intensity was thought to be futile.The band who had given the world the groundbreaking album Wisconsin Death Trip and the industrial alt-rock hybrid Evil Disco, shaking metal from its stagnant state and redefining what can be done with heavy music, was rudderless and without the emotional capability to continue. Wayne's passing - after long periods of unrest within the band - seemed to be the final debilitating factor in the future longevity of Static X but behind the scenes the three founding members of Static X, Tony Campos, Koichi Fukuda and Ken Jay were scouring the musical landscape for someone who could not only fill Waynes shoes musically, but would also be accepted by their fanatically loyal fanbase.In 2019 the trio recruited a still unidentified mask wearing enigma as vocalist who went by the name Xer0 and despite initial skepticism and often downright hostility from some members of the public, Static X have been reborn as both a live and recording unit and will arrive in Australia for three shows starting in Melbourne on May 19 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Wisconsin Death Trip.Sensational live footage of their US tour has leaked on social media which justifies the current hype surrounding Static X, with the show as much a visual spectacle as it is aural, complete with a stunning new outfit for Xer0.Bass player Tony Campos joined HEAVY recently to discuss the tour and a host of other things relating to Static X, starting with how much of Wisconsin Death Trip they will be playing as part of the anniversary celebrations."We will be playing... I won't say most of it," he offered, "but we'll be playing a lot of cuts off that album."Campos has been quoted as saying that as well as playing songs from that album and Machine, Static X are also going to throw in "a couple of nice surprises" so, not being ones to like surprises, we asked him if he would share the knowledge."It depends on who the surprise is coming from," he laughed. "If you want a clue check out any of the interviews from the last couple of shows that we've been doing here in the States to get an idea."Static X will also be celebrating the life and legacy - as they do with every show - of Wayne Static, which although gives the fans an inside glimpse into the mechanisms of the band with Wayne out front, would also be emotionally draining on the surviving members night after night."Being together with my friends that were there with me in the beginning and having that comaraderie with those guys keeps the vibe positive," he measured. "It keeps it focussed on all the good things we achieved together."In the full interview Tony talks more about what to expect from the shows, how different it is having Xer0 out the front to when Wayne was there, losing Wayne and the decision to move on without him, initial negative feedback from fans and how it affected the band, the new stage show and what it entails, the early days of Static X and where they fit in, creating their sound and introducing it to a new audience, at what stage of the bands life did he personally feel they were onto something good, how they made their last two albums Project: Regeneration Volumes 1 and 2 after Wayne's passing, future new music with Xer0 at the helm and more.
Tony Campos is one busy dude playing double bass duties on the “Rise of the Machine” tour for both Static X and Fear Factory! We chat with Tony about the tour, heading to Australia, Wayne Static's last vocal recordings, Xer0's new mask, their upcoming album Project Regeneration Volume 2, working with Jon Davis of Korn on the “Queen of the Damned” soundtrack, the future of Static X and more!
This is probably the fourth or fifth time I've interviewed Chris, and every conversation is better than the last. Yes, I'm a fan of Daughtry professionally and personally. He's a really solid guy and very talented. He gets a little more in-depth about why he covered Journey's "Separate Ways" with Lzzy Hale. "Lzzy and I have been talking about doing a duet, whether it be an original or a cover, for a long time. When we did that acoustic tour she came out on one of the dates and did an acoustic cover of Alice In Chains' 'Man In The Box', and, I was thinking "Maybe we should record that" and then this idea came up, I was like "Hey, would you be interested in covering 'Separate Ways'?" She responded that was her go-to karaoke song, and they were on their way. That's just for starters with Chris. Tripp Eisen is up next. We discuss everything from Dope to Static X to the Murderdolls. What's his relationships like with some of his former bandmates? Why isn't he in the new incarnation of Static X? What was his last encounter with Wayne Static like? (That was an interesting story) What's he got going on in 2023? These questions and many more were answered. -Meltdown- https://wrif.com/2023/01/19/chris-daughtry-talks-about-covering-journey-with-lzzy-hale-the-rock-community-plans-for-2023-and-more-meltdown/ https://wrif.com/2023/01/20/tripp-eisen-talks-dope-static-x-murderdolls-and-much-more-meltdown/ https://daughtryofficial.com/ https://www.trippeisen.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/

I think we can all agree there was only one Wayne Static, even if some of us occasional get him mixed up with the guy from Drowning Pool (there's only one of him too, though if I were to google his name I might learn he's been cloned). I can't remember which sports pundit with the extremely punchable face (ie. all of them) opined some years ago that you don't wanna be the guy who replaces the guy (vax phobia aside, this didn't work out so badly for Aaron Rogers, wacky shirts aside it worked out quite poorly for Ray Handley), but it might well be applicable in this case - perhaps the burden of expectations, stepping into a legend's boots etc. will not be as burdensome for whoever replaces Edsel Dope (sorry, Xer0) in future editions of Static-X.There's no Static X music on this week's show, mostly due to rights clearance issues but also because I got them mixed up with Drowning Pool and had to re-write this week's program notes at the last moment.

Formed in 2004 out of Sparrows Point, Maryland, Chrystal James is the face and soul of the post industrial hard rock band Anoxia. Knowing the potential of this band, there were a number of line up changes made over the years; each one improving and building on what became a local powerhouse with heavy riffs over electronic keys, layered with powerful and at times ethereal vocals. Anoxia went on to share the stage with bands such as Saving Able, Adema, Hed P.E., Soil, the late Wayne Static of Static-X, as well as members of Anoxia sharing the stage with Starset, Gemini Syndrome and 10 Years. In 2014, the band took a hiatus due to ...well... life. Seven long years later Chrystal and Dan decided to reignite the fires of Anoxia, answering the call of the Shadow Phoenix to once again rise from the ashes to reclaim her throne! Where does Strait Up, the tribute album to Snot singer, Lynn Strait rate in comparison to other metal compilations? Is it as good as Chef Aid or Freddy vs Jason? That's the question we'll be talking about on this episode. To be honest, the answer probably won't surprise you. But I was super surprised hearing Staind compared to the Pixies - such an obvious comparison that I have been regretting all the times I could have dropped that truth bomb at dinner parties. There's a bunch of Sonny Mayo love on top of a very difficult question to answer: Who's shoes are bigger to fill? Freddie Mercury or Wayne Static? https://static-x.org/ Static-X is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1994. The line-up has fluctuated over the years, but was long-held constant with band founder, frontman, vocalist, and guitarist Wayne Static until 2014. The band was founded by Wayne Static and original drummer Ken Jay. They rose to fame with their 1999 debut album Wisconsin Death Trip where their heavy industrial metal sound attracted attention within the burgeoning nu metal movement of the late 1990s, with the album eventually going platinum in the United States. The band released five more albums over the course of the next decade: Machine in 2001, Shadow Zone in 2003, Start a War in 2005, Cannibal in 2007, and Cult of Static in 2009. The band entered a hiatus while Static worked on his solo album, Pighammer, in 2011. Static briefly reformed Static-X in 2012, using only members of his solo album's touring band, before officially breaking up in June 2013. On November 1, 2014, Wayne Static died at the age of 48. The rest of the original Static-X lineup – bassist Tony Campos, guitarist Koichi Fukuda and drummer Ken Jay – announced on October 23, 2018 that they were reforming the band in Static's honor, and would release Project Regeneration, their first studio album in eleven years, in 2020.
One of the most iconic figures in nu-metal, Wayne Static, is almost more of the focus of this episode than the band is, as we look into Static-X's start as a band, Wayne's eventual death, and the band's decision to dress Edsel Dope up in a Wayne mask and go on a 20th Anniversary Tour of this album. It's the first album we've reviewed from the side of nu-metal that also held a pretty large industrial influence, and both Bryan and John explain that it was one that largely passed them by at the time but one they are excited to revisit. In a continuing series where Bryan Quinby (Street Fight Radio) and John Cullen (Blocked Party) review one classic nu-metal album per month, Static-X comes in from a listener donation, and for John at least, it feels like the only way this would've ever gotten a review from the P.O.D. boys. But Bryan and John are game for it, as the album shows some flashes of what Static-X could have been, were they not so focused on "evil disco" and building tracks strictly from the drums and programming up. And the weird legacy of the band proves almost more interesting, as the in-fighting over the name, Wayne Static's drug problems, and the introduction of Xer0 make them a more fascinating tale than most. Plus, we find some time to talk about Korn's cover of "Devil Went Down to Georgia" going viral and Corey Taylor's new solo project. If you want a fun solo project, you can take some alone time and use it to donate to the show at https://patreon.com/thepodkast, where $4/month gets you a bonus episode every single month. Last month, we had the wonderful Jordan Uhl on to discuss Strait Up, the tribute album to the deceased lead singer of the band Snot which features nearly all of nu-metal's greatest singers, and we've got another great episode coming this month as we tackle the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. Plus you get access to all of our back catalogue of bonus episodes and there's new stuff coming every month. Donate now!

I sit, in my desolate room, no lights, no music. Just anger....HA! Not really. But hi, hello, welcome back to episode DIRTY 30 of Roaming Reigns. Happy 30th. Happy 111 days without social media! I'm actually recording, editing, and uploading a podcast all in the same day! Just for YOU! I waited for YOU, MAN! I suppose I am getting the hang of this. So, I threw in some groovy tunes, I miss ol' Wayne Static. They did drop some new music, so if you look you'll find it. I also reveal just how much of a CHINGON I am, fixing my car. I talk comics, and movies, and of course podcarts. WELCOME TO THE BEST PODCAST straight outta HELL PASO! HA But yes I start pretty somber but end up in a good mood. That's rare for me. Right now I'm writing this up in the bunker as the temperature rises, heat rises, but the window mount AC isn't helping much. I'm gonna finish this, upload it, let you guys enjoy it. I feel like this is a funny one. A poignant and well paced and thought out one. Intro yucks, Podcast talk. Shout outs. Books. Comics. More shout outs. Real life stuff. Mental health. Yes that's a Baby Yoda from Build-A-Bear in the intro. It belongs to me. So what? This isn't your momma's EL PASO podcast. Ha but seriously, I'm going almost 180 days without being in the matrix. It's been a learning and growing experience. I present you with some music talk, some wrestling talk. I give the nod to Mr Christopher Nolan. Can't wait for TENET! Opa, chegando com a edição de número 69 do Total Distortion. Mais uma vez com uma selelção de músicas bem legais para você que é fã de distorção, seja lá qual for a vertente! Temos o neo-nu-metal do From Ashes to New e o groove metal raíz do BIAS, ambos com interpretações diferentes sobre a pandemia, o som gótico e melancólico do Cold e o industrial groovadão do Static-X, banda que ressuscitou há algum tempo, apesar da ausência do finado Wayne Static. No bloco de passado e futuro trazemos os mascarados do Mushroomhead com dois sons bem legais de pontos distintos da carreira da banda. Também temos dois covers bem inusitados de bandas interpretando músicas do mais novo sucesso viral de 2020, o Tiger King, também conhecido como Joe Exotic - Matt Heafy, do Trivum e The OffSpring fazem suas versões do malucão do country louco por tigres. E o bloco old but gold tem duas pérolas do grunge, ou proto grunge, com as lendárias bandas mães do estilo que nem sempre são lembradas: Mother Love Bone e Malfunkshun. Esse programa é um final de temporada. Infelizmente ficarei um tempo sem enviar programas novos devido a uma nova rotina massiva. Me falta tempo de enviar os programas semanalmente, roteirizar, gravar, etc. Mas prometo que volto logo logo e com reformulações (e continuarei montando o meu excel gigante de playlists com muitas ideias para programas novos!) Tracklist: - From Ashes to New - Panic; - BIAS - Unsavory; - Cold - Without You; - Static-X - Hollow; - Mushroomhead - Sun Doesn't Rise; - Mushroomhead - Seen it All; - Matt Heafy - I Saw a Tiger (Joe Exotic cover); - The Offspring - Here, Kitty Kitty (Joe Exotic cover); - Mother Love Bone - Stardog Champion; - Malfunkshun - Jezebel Woman;

It's time to light it up and push it to the limits! Brendan the blind guy had the honour of chatting to the one, the only Tony, not Todd, Tony, from the legendary US Disco-metal giants, STATIC-X about the bands' 'Wisconsin Death Trip' 20th anniversary Australian tour, paying ultimate respect to late singer Wayne Static! Have a listen and find out what a "Static-X metal throwdown" is all about, plus what gets Tony's motor going and what an early-day fan-girls' party trick was! Check out the official Keen Eye 4 COncerts website www.keeneye4concerts.com
On this episode of INSIDE MUSIC, host James Shotwell chats with legendary bassist and founding Static-X member Tony Campos about twenty years of 'Wisconsin Death Trip.' Tony tells James how and why the band came together for their latest tour, as well as their efforts to preserve and celebrate the legacy of fallen vocalist Wayne Static.
With Static X reforming and honouring the legendary Wayne Static in a 20 Year “Wisconsin Death Trip” tribute show, we catch up with founding member Tony Campos (bass) with a special cameo from drummer Ken Jay to get the inside scoop. We discussing reforming the group, finding a replacement vocalist, discovering new never before heard vocals from Wayne, their upcoming album “Project Regeneration” and more!
Here is a sentence we never thought we'd be saying again: Static-X are touring Australia again! Believe it or not, but three of four OG members are back and heading down under for a tour like no other which will serve not only as the 20th Anniversary of their breakthrough album Wisconsin Death Trip but also a Memorial Tribute to their late frontman Wayne Static, who passed away back in 2014. The news has divided fans (some for, some against the idea) but bassist Tony Campos is on this weel's podcast chatting all about it to clear the air and answer any concerns fans may have had. Podcast host Browny, despite being a fan, takes both sides of the argument to get the truth from the band and find out if the right intentions are at play here or if this is another one of those cash grabs from fans, but from what you'll hear, every intricate detail about this tour has been well planned, thought out and even received the blessings of Wayne's family before the ball was even rolling and it seems the people that want this the most are Static-X's longterm fans who even pledged their own money for the band's new album, Project Regeneration, which wouldn't have seen the light of day if it wasn't for their contributions. Tony also delves into the current status of the album and how they're using old vocal recordings from studio sessions before Wayne passed to create a brand new album from the band, featuring original members Tony Campos, Ken Jay and Koichi Fukuda. There's also throwbacks from Megadeth, dope, Rammstein, Coal Chamber and Fear Factory, New Music from SKYND, Sleeping With Sirens and Bare Bones + heaps more... #WoSUATW #StaticX #TonyCampos #WayneStatic #WisconsinDeathTrip #ProjectRegeneration #Metal #IndustrialMetal #Megadeth #DaveMustaine #FearFactory #CoalChamber #Rammstein #Reliqa #dope #SKYND #SleepingWithSirens #BareBones #DrownThisCity #Podcast #MusicPodcast #Interview #WallOfSoundAU
It's time to get down to the Matter of Fact(ion!) This week, Pricey and Browny discuss the new Daybreak three-track release and their tour alongside Alpha Wolf and Mirrors, the Perth heavy scene, Karnivool and Southeast Desert Metal's tour together, Hellyeah and new drummer Roy Mayorga, whether you can replace Wayne Static in Static-X and get Metal AF as they discuss the Gojira guitarist and his run-in with a massive fire blast on stage. The legendary Uli Jon Roth is a musician's musician. An artist's artist. Probably most noted for his work with the mighty Scorpions in the 70s, Mr. Roth has a vast discography spanning five (!) decades. In honour of this, Mr. Roth is currently on his "Triple Anniversary" tour commemorating three key moments in his storied career. It was an absolute honour that Mr. Roth gave us a moment of his time. So sit up straight, shut your mouth, and open your ears as we discuss his legendary status, this awesome tour, and his current relationship with the Scorps. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we celebrate Record Store Day, "The Hoff" going Metal (!!), and the creepy Wayne Static mask issue. On this week's Sidetrack we take a quick peak at Static X, one of the many bands that "followed the leader" Korn in the Nu Metal movement of the late 90s. Static X brought their own taste to the mix, dropping in some solid "four on the floor" dance beats and more repetitive hooks, leaning heavily into the industrial metal category. We also listen to a song from the movie "Queen Of The Damned", performed by Wayne Static, but written by Korn frontman Jonathan Davis.

Heavy Pod Is Heavy Cast!We have a bunch of new proggy music this week, including Devin Townsend, Periphery, Equipoise, and Hannes Grossmann. Also Nekrasov. We also cover some sad/weird stories like the passing of Viraemia bassist Scott Plummer, and Static-X doing a tour with their vocalist replacing Wayne Static wearing a Wayne Static-but-with-dead-skin-looking mask. Yeah. Also this Magic: The Gathering trailer with an emotional Linkin Park cover, and some random live clip of Metallica with Cliff. Then cool people time with, you guessed it, Santa Clarita Diet, Arrested Development, Sekiro, Hitman 2, and Texorcist: The Story of Ray Bibbia. Enjoy!
You know when someone introduces you to a band and you instantly fall for them? You love their music, members, style and purpose and dedicate your life promoting them as much as you can! That's how we felt with I Prevail who burst onto the scene a few years back covering a Taylor Swift song, BUT, the difference between them and others who were doing it at the time was they had a vast array of heavy/melodic music behind them to not just be known for that cover. From there, they've escaped the comparisons and have set out on their own, dominating the world and this week we're chatting to guitarist Dylan Bowman all about their achievements (and struggles) so far. From selling out their ENTIRE Australian Debut Tour to almost losing their clean vocalist Brian Burkheiser to a pretty traumatic (pun intended) vocal injury, to now, on the eve of the release of their second studio album, we go into detail about everything they've faced along the way and how they'll never give up in their fight. Podcast host Browny also takes a look at the news surrounding Static-X's reforming and Memorial Tribute for Wayne Static, the former frontman and namesake of the band ahead of their Worldwide Anniversary Tour and new album Project Regeneration. Plus there's plenty of New Music to get through from Liberties, Red Handed Denial, Windwaker, The Beautiful Monument, The Last Martyr, Dealer, Jinjer and Bury Your Dead and more... #WoSUATW #IPrevail #DylanBowman #Trauma #BowDown #Metalcore #Liberties #TheWordAlive #RedHandedDenial #Windwaker #TheBeautifulMonument #TheAmityAffliction #AmityAffliction #TheLastLartyr #BuryYourDead #Dealer #Hardcore #StaticX #Jinjer #DevinTownsend #MusicPodcast #Podcast #WallOfSoundAU

X-Factor #30 (1988)Despite the Walt Simonson art, this X-Factor book fails to impress. However, we do have Beast in his “ode to the 1984 San Diego Padres” outfit and Iceman wearing his Asgardian championship belt so not all is lost. Plus, Thomas Haden Church makes an appearance and then promptly explodes (probably from all that star power) and a sentient ship makes chili burgers and it is gross.Shawn and Jen also review the film QUARTER BIN which is an Amazon Prime indie centered around varied relationships of folks that work at a comic book store in Cleveland. This week, Mike and Adam talk about nothing. Yup, that's right. Nothing of importance to discuss this week at all…………I guess they discuess the death of Simpsons co-creator, Sam Simon; also Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson announcing Zoolander 2; the official cause of death for Wayne Static; and the alleged stabbing of Slipknow guitarist, Mike Thomson.At the end of this non-eventful episode, Mike is impressed by the realism of the newest editions of the Real Dolls and Adam reviews albums from The Wonder Years, Linkin Park, and Blink 182. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theskinnywithmikeandadam/support

That leads into the police and their tactics of making money rather than crime prevention. They then talk about the NHL and Rich has an idea which he thinks would improve the league and fan experience without effecting the game. They then talk about meeting Wayne Static and their time at the Static-X concert. They then debate about the best live drummer touring today which leads into talk about how concert goers today are a bunch of pussies.
