The Podcast That Rocked for 12/10/24. Discussion on Bring Me The Horizon accused of AI use, Hellfest 2025 lineup, Pit Diapers, and more. The Podcast That Rocked | Every Tuesday 8PM EST on https://www.youtube.com/@rockednet Discussion Topics: Bring Me The Horizon called out for AI use Hellfest 2025 lineup announced Nicko McBrain retires from Iron Maiden touring Liquid Death Pit Diaper is a real item Conan gets metal in Europe Three of our favorite albums from the 2000's Upcoming albums/tours/more “Bring Me The Horizon has sparked controversy among fans with their recent use of AI-generated visuals in live performances and merchandise. The band showcased AI-powered effects during a live rendition of "AmEN" in São Paulo, Brazil, where frontman Oli Sykes appeared to transform into a demon on-screen. This move has divided their fanbase, with some praising the innovation while others express disappointment and anger. Critics argue that using AI undermines the work of human artists who have previously created visuals for the band. The controversy escalated when fans discovered AI-generated designs on merchandise, including t-shirts priced at $160. Many view this as a betrayal of human creativity and a step too far in the band's history of pushing boundaries. The backlash reflects a broader debate in the music industry about the role of AI in art and its potential to replace human artists. Despite the criticism, Bring Me The Horizon continues to defend their use of AI as part of their innovative approach to music and performance.” (Perplexity) Hosted by: Luke = https://bsky.app/profile/rockednet.bsky.social Alex = https://bsky.app/profile/voiceofalex.bsky.social Rowan = https://bsky.app/profile/rowbuck01.bsky.social

Interview by Kyra-Jade CoombsWhile She Sleeps are absolutely killing it lately. They've just gone on a huge run of summer festivals in the UK & EU to some of the biggest crowds they've ever played in front of. If you check out the videos on their socials or YouTube, they are HUGE. HEAVY had the chance to have a chat with their lead singer Loz about how it's been to experience something like that and exactly how you prepare yourself mentally to talk out on stage. The answer is of course, you guys! Feeling the energy from the crowd before going out on stage being almost intoxicating and carries you out. It's Australia's turn to host these legends this September on their Self Hell tour alongside Stick To Your Guns, Ocean Sleeper & Boundaries. They are playing all major cities, so be sure to check out Ticketmaster and get your tickets or visit www.destroyalllines.comWhen asked about what he is most looking to while visiting Australia Loz of course said “DROP BEARS!!”, our lil' terrifying Aussie icons. All jokes aside, he explained that Australia bears many similarities to where he is from and feels like a second home. We show lots of appreciation for bands who decide to fly across the world just to come play for us. And it shows.Self Hell is the newest album released by While She Sleeps, and this particular album was set out to ‘ruffle some feathers', going against the grain of what the band would traditionally sound like. The film clip that accompanies the self-titled song Self Hell is excellent. It makes you feel like you have a look into their world and who they are outside of music. Loz explained the video's purpose beautifully, although you'll have to have a listen to hear all about that.We went on to talk about having some amazing friends in the music industry like Oli Sykes of Bring Me The Horizon and Alex Taylor of Malevolence to feature on songs and what's in stall for their live shows. Lastly, we touched on what it takes to successfully nurture being in a band for so long… with the same line-up all these years I might add. This is virtually unheard of these days. The short answer was being able to compromise, share the world load, and work to each other's strengths. Advice that you could apply to most things in life.It was super refreshing to have someone (Loz) who is genuinely a lovely guy, so passionate and willing to have a good yarn about all thing's music. I have even more respect for While She Sleeps and can't wait to watch their show next month. Watch/listen to the full interview to venture inside the world of While She Sleeps.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Darro Chea is a musician. I met Darro at the Echo Park Tennis Courts when I got back into tennis and didn't know that he was a pop punk musician. I mean how could I have known? Ahh yes. The hair. Darro put out his new album ‘Accidents' which reminds me of all the pop punk greats as well as ‘j.o.m.o.' which means the joy of missing out. Didn't think I'd be listening to pop punk so much while cruising in his car to get tacos and relive my youth from the Warped Tour days but I'm not mad about it. Imagine the emo essence of Oli Sykes, the K-Pop aesthetic of JungKook from BTS and the modern pop punk sound of YungBlud you get Darro. I don't listen to two out of 3 but I do see the vision. We had the pleasure of interviewing Jeris Johnson over Zoom video! He was not born in a manger, but he is already changing the game. Jeris Johnson is first and foremost a true musician. He has been playing music wsince the age of two and was the drummer and singer in a metal band throughout high school. He has had a love of rock and metal as long as he can remember, but he also developed a love of hip-hop, trap, hyper-pop, and any musical genre that he found progressive and interesting. Jeris was so dedicated to bringing the world the future of rock music that he sold his guitar in order to be able to work with producer and collaborator SACCO. Together they have already created an urgent and amazing body of work. They have a Gold record for Jeris' song "damn!." which was a viral and streaming sensation. Jeris got Chad Kroeger of Nickelback to perform with him on a remix of "damn!," which also went crazy on the Internet. After Jeris posted a snippet of his reimagined version of "Last Resort" by Papa Roach, the band's singer Jacoby Shaddix heard it and contacted Jeris to do a whole new "Last Resort (Reloaded)" together and make it the official version to mark the 20th anniversary of Papa Roach's debut album. This song will soon be Gold as well, with over 52 million Spotify streams, plus over 11 million views of the video. This led to the release of Jeris' first EP My Sword, which included the songs mentioned above as well as fan favorites such as the title track and "Roses Red." Soon thereafter, Oli Sykes, frontman of Bring Me The Horizon, reached out to Jeris to do a new version of their most popular song "Can You Feel My Heart" and to open for them at a special intimate release show at The Whiskey in Los Angeles. Then, Jeris did a killer collab with massive rapper Trippie Redd on an original song called "Friday." In 2022, Jeris released his debut album I WANT BLOOD/i want love, which included "Friday" and 10 other bangers including "Going Ghost," "BURNING RUBBER," and his first acoustic ballad "life is underrated." Collaborations with Point North and Zillakami (on a Reloaded of the Slayer classic "Reign in Blood") plus another EP followed. Jeris had done a Reloaded snippet of the Three Doors Down classic "Kryptonite," which got a great viral reaction, and in October of last year ,he released a full version that has also been a viral and streaming success. Jeris then went quiet on social media and paused releasing music so that he and SACCO could focus 100% on creating his new album, the details of which are forthcoming!Jeris is already a battle-tested road warrior despite his brief time as a performing artist. He has toured with Falling In Reverse as well as Korn and Evanescence. He has slain the crowd at every meaningful rock festival and was even the only rock and metal act at the hip-hop festival Rolling Loud a couple years ago.We want to hear from you! It was good to catch up with Oli Sykes last week from Bring Me The Horizon on the latest episode of Talkin' Rock. Lots going on with BMTH. We talk about their latest tour with Fall Out Boy. "It's been sick." is how he summed up the tour. He told me why they choose to do a support tour "We've been going nonstop, and we're kinda on the verge of burning out." He explained that between making records and more, it was just easier to hop on a tour and go out for the summer. "We still have fans to win over." was another reason to hit the road. The new record called Post Human: neX GEn drops on September 15th. Is the upcoming album the most eclectic record? He answered that question. He spoke to influences and nods to some of the bands he loved growing up. "It's more about the frantic and unhinged energy" he said about some of the songs. "I know the rules to writing a song...now it's time to go back and break them." And, yes, this album will challenge the fans. He talked about the process for writing music. As far as recording songs, he said that vocal booths are overrated. Ha! He said they don't even really use studios anymore. One of his heroes was Linkin Park's Chester Bennington. He talked about meeting him and singing at his celebration of life. "I guess you could say that was bittersweet." He searched for words to describe the loss of Chester in his life. "I feel like a part of my childhood died when he died." He talked about preserving his voice and what he does to not lose it. He also answered the question as to whether the rock star life is all it's cracked up to be. "It's the best job in the world, of course!" I had to ask him about the crazy videos he's made. I posted a few of them below. He mentioned he wanted to be a director, so this isn't too far out of his wheelhouse. Really interesting conversation with Oli... -Meltdown https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/

BMTH frontman Oli Sykes speaks on the band's future plans and why they may never drop another album again.
As punishment for not predicting the future and getting his bets terribly, terribly wrong in the 2018 Betting Special, we get to listen to Mike go slowly mad over the course of this episode while he's forced to listen to two of his least favorite songs from the last five years on a constant loop! No worries to you, the listener; the music loop is edited out to save your sanity. We also catch up on all of the exciting new album announcements that have happened since we've last gotten together. We've got incoming albums from Alexisonfire, New Years Day, Our Last Night, Andy Black, and Silverstein. Bring Me The Horizon announces the cancellation of their current tour due to Oli Sykes' unfortunate vocal injury; we catch up on the 2015 "Twitter beef" between Buddy Neilsen and Chris Fronzak...because it was reignited recently since everyone involved has the mindset of middle-school children apparently. Finally, we share our thoughts on recent albums and recommendations such as 'Peach Club' by Emarosa, 'Phoenix' by Pedro the Lion, the self-titled album from Conor Oberst's Better Oblivion Community Center, 'Rebirth' by The Jon Hill Project, and the debut EP from one of our listeners band, Better On The Inside. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/theskinnywithmikeandadam/support
With their 6th album amo, Bring Me The Horizon have delivered their most diverse and controversial album. Extending their sound like never before, singer Oli Sykes speaks to Richard Kingsmill about the band's shift in direction, the reactions to the album so far, working with the likes of Grimes, and how his divorce and re-marriage has influenced the lyrics.

Well, where do we even start with our next guest's band? Bring Me The Horizon have been tearing up stages across the globe for the better part of the past 15 years and in that time, their sound may have changed from the early deathcore roots, through to their metalcore and most recent stadium rock albums, but now, yet again, we are seeing a significant change for the band which seems them introducing EDM influenced sounds and pop rock vibes with their latest album amo. But what triggered the change? Why did they stray so far from their original sound and (as rumours suggest) was it all a challenge to see if they could crack the mainstream market? All those burning questions you've ALWAYS wanted to know about BMTH will finally be answered as drummer Mat Nicholls co-hosts our Wall of Sound: Up Against The Wall podcast this week and by everything we mean everything from their Grammy Nomination, Mat's opinions on genres being "pointless", frontman Oli Sykes' music video ideas and even if they'll be bringing their heavy song medley to Australia in April. There's even a discussion about the band's belter of a new song 'heavy metal' which is a piss-take, "fuck you" anthem for all the old fans who criticised their progression away from the heavier side of music. You do not want to miss this one. Podcast host Browny also takes a look at Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton's new solo song with the late Chester Bennington and asks for your opinion about whether or not Wage War ripped off Architects' with their new song 'Low'. There's also plenty of new tunes from Seas of Conflict, Kill The Lights, The Last Martyr and Fever 333, throwbacks from A Day To Remember, Enter Shikari, While She Sleeps and heaps more… #WoSUATW #BringMeThrHorizon #BMTH #MatNicholls #amo #MANTRA #MarkMorton #ChesterBennington #SeasOfConflict #KillTheLights #WageWar #Metalcore #Architects #EnterShikari #WhileSheSleeps #Beartooth #ADayToRemember #ADTR #TheLastMartyr #IceNineKills #Fever333 #DavceGavinDance #MusicPodcast #Podcast #WallOfSoundAU

Steve Austin, vocalist and guitarist for Today is the Day, recently formed a new band called UXO with his longtime friend Chris Spencer of Unsane. We invited Steve to chat with us and wound up having one of the longest, most interesting discussions we've had in a long time. We talk about how the UXO project came together, where his drive to create introspective, destructive music comes from, how his relationship with his family molded the person he is today and how his children changed his outlook on life and music. We also try and figure out whether or not Bring Me the Horizon's Oli Sykes really has beef with Chris Martin and Coldplay or if he's just trying to get more people to pay attention to him. He claims he did not know that his stunt at the NME Awards was directed at the band, but we're not necessarily buying it. Also, just to warn you, there will be graphic depictions of a surgical procedure one of us had in this episode... let's just say the results were unexpected.
