Tom is an internationally acclaimed artist, published author, and social justice activist. He is an expert and consultant on animal liberation history and strategy, and the global animal rights movement. His first book, Your Neighbour Kills Puppies was released in March 2024. The book is the previously untold story of one of the world's most powerful social justice campaigns, Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty (SHAC). Tom became involved in the animal liberation movement at the age of fifteen when he attended his first hunt sab. Over the years that followed he devoted his life to helping animals and co-founded one of the UK`s most successful regional animal rights organizations, SARC (The Southern Animal Rights Coalition). Tom is a regular contributor to Forca Vegan magazine, and other periodicals. Under the professional name ‘Tattoo Tom‘, Tom has also achieved a highly successful and acclaimed career as an artist. Cameron Sean Ganis was born in New York on December 15, 1993, to John and Catalina Ganis at only three pounds. He has always been a fighter showing his relentlessness, passion, and a reason to keep going fourth towards his dream. He grew up in a bi-racial household along with two brothers. His father played the guitar since he was sixteen, and at the age of sixteen Cameron picked up a pen and pad and started creating his own sound. Today his biggest influencers are Drake, Lil Wayne, China Mac, Machine Gun Kelly, Joyner Lucas, Russ, Eminem, Chris Brown, and Justin Bieber to name a few. This up-and-coming vocalist, songwriter and rap artist had some major obstacles in his life. Both of his parents had a kidney transplant a few years ago, which took a toll on him, but because of his perseverance and love for music, he was able to overcome these obstacles. Cameron feels that he gets his drive from his mom, being that she overcame a few obstacles of her own. This thriving young artist also knew about the importance of getting an education, so he enrolled in the State University of New York at Fredonia near Canada. When his parents fell sick, he needed to be closer to home, so he enrolled at the University of Central Florida, the largest college in the United States earning a full scholarship.

In class, we spend one week reading and reflecting on the work of those who are part of the Chicana Feminist Epistemology tradition. The group that signed up to produce the podcast this week all identify as Hispanic or Latinx or Chicana or Mexican American or are in their own journey figuring out where they fit. So for this group especially the readings really resonated with them. The episode they submitted was about two hours long because they interviewed two amazing women in their quest to know more and better understand the ideas they read about. After listening to the episode I decided it would be better to split the episode into two episodes so that I could honor the work they did and share their conversations in full with limited edits. Ben's work is probably best described as epic, ranging from his earlier photography work which had him collaborating with amazing subjects around the world, to his latest installation work building incredible sculptures and artworks from unusual objects that hope to provoke and motivate people to take action on issues like recycling, child hunger, and of course our oceans.Whilst not a full time underwater photographer, Ben has created some incredible imagery with very little experience, and his journey from playing in a pool with friends to tying models to shipwrecks is really inspiring. This groundbreaking act can be taken as an example in today's political activism: we must, no matter who the oppressed are, stand with them, and protect the sanctity of goodness and love over the evils of slavery, discrimination, and social hierarchies. During this global crisis and Lock-Down time lets use this opportunity to find ourselves ,make Quarantine time Quraan-time & learn a new skill such as Arabic Calligraphy Art or an art firm.

Samatha Paige has had her fair share of 'bad' things happen to her in her lifetime. Enough to make a person ask "why me?" over and over again. But instead of dwelling on that, Samantha has turned her own heartache and trauma into something that's released her truth and vulnerability. After being diagnosed with cancer at 21 and then told she had the BRCA1 gene in 2008, Samantha decided to take matters into her own hands. Those experiences were tough and created a lot of change in her life; but they shaped her worldview and showed her how to literally and figuratively make those 'last cuts' in ones life. She looks at these last cuts are those decisions we are faced with in our lives, that we're too scared to make; but know are necessary for us to live in line with our essence.  These health challenges have helped Samantha to rise stronger and release her artist within, focusing on raw conversations with others and herself with the Last Cut Project. She's now a role model and thought leader who shows others how to engage in vulnerable self-inquiry to live a connected, fulfilled life that feels like one's own.

Tea with a Titan: Conversations Steeped in Greatness |Achievement | Olympics | Olympians| Success | Athletes | Entrepreneurs

What we cover: "What the world needs now is love, sweet love." -- Burt Bacharach   About three weeks ago, my four-year-old, JouJou had her first ballet recital with North Vancouver’s stellar organization Pink Petal Ballet, designed less to teach young girls the perfect arabesque, and more to teach young girls concepts like self-love and kindness. The recital concluded with 300 young girls on stage singing in questionable harmony the classic lyrical genius of Burt Bacharach: “What the world needs now, is love sweet love,… it’s the only thing that there’s just too little love.” However, thanks to artistic visionaries and thought leaders like Wendy Williams-Watt who sees opportunity for beauty and self-expression all around her, the quantity of love shown and received and felt is growing exponentially around the world. Love for oneself, love for community, love for country, love for the planet. In fact, her most talked about project to date Big Love Ball now has a home on every continent globally. If you’re not familiar with Big Love Ball, it is the incarnation of the glue that holds societies, countries, and families together – the most powerful single-word in any language, love – written in simple type across the width of a ginormous 5-foot in diameter to be exact, inflatable ball. It’s been called inflatable sculpture; an enormous beach ball that says the one thing we most want to say and hear and feel. Love. Wendy Williams-Watt is a neat person, and the reason this conversation is so important is two-fold. One, we talk about love. Why we’re so afraid to show it. What it feels like when we’re missing it. What it feels like when we’re in it. But, we also talk about what it means to not just have ideas – which, when you’re as creative a person as Wendy is, is kind of like breathing – but actually doing something about them. I say it all the time: “The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers, but most of all, the world needs dreamers who do.” Wendy is a dreamer who does, and this episode is an invitation to you too, to be a dreamer who does. Small admin note: I typically credit that quote as having come from Eleanor Roosevelt, but alas, I went to verify it the other day and I learned it was Sarah Ban Breathnach, writer of Simple Abundance. For years, Wendy was respected in the city of Vancouver for her role concepting and operating the go-to lifestyle destination shop called Liberty – it was a place to go and just lose yourself in the awe of the finely curated pieces. The energy in that space for me, nearly 20 years ago, as a junior copywriter just starting out and living across the street from it, was the feeling of “one day…” It was like walking into a dream. When Wendy transitioned from being the décor expert, the entrepreneur with the thriving enterprise, she experienced an epiphany one day when the battery of her mouse died and she saw the words: “connection lost” across her screen. Her daughter had just moved out, a relationship had come to an end, and Wendy realized she had too much stuff and not enough love and people. She let herself walk through the pain and the loneliness and when she came out on the other side, a whole new articulation of love waited for her on the other side. If you have not seen Big Love Ball, and Wendy’s other love-enhancing, love-expressing projects like Pink Ring and Writing on Ribs, please – no, really, please – check out MJDionne.com and check out the podcaster tab. You need to see this work. I hate to say it, but I’m going to anyway. There is perhaps an underlying feeling that to talk about love is a "female" thing to do. That it’s somehow not cool for guys to engage in dialogue this potentially vulnerable in nature. Which is why, I invite you all to tune in – love is as universal as it gets. And this is a talk for us all. In this time of a particular president talking about walls, and travel bans, and pulling out of the Paris Climate Change Agreement, and we have fear in London in light of last week’s London Bridge attack, and in Manchester after the Ariana Grande concert terror attack, what the world needs now, is love sweet love. Wendy talks about what it was like touring the Fire Halls around ground zero on the anniversary of 9/11 last year, and the reaction of these big, burly men – as soon as they saw Big Love Ball, it became an invitation to talk and connect and share. When they brought Big Love Ball to ground zero and invited people to pen a loving note on the ball itself, Wendy describes this feeling of eutopia – love doesn’t see religion, gender, nationality.  She was back in New York this week, with her latest project, Big Love Button as seen on Good Morning America – congrats to you on that, sister. What really attracts us to Emily's work is her wide range of video topics and styles. Her ability to produce a video that can appeal to those who need a "wake up call" and/or cold hard facts sets her apart from the other YouTubers. However, she can usually find a way to let her genuine heart and personality shine which really makes her subscribers loyal viewers. Personally, we've seen and used her videos to answer questions in social media posts and groups because she addresses topics so clear. Along with her traditional, and sometimes silly, videos she also provides a rare service: videos for kids. We know quite a few parent's raising vegan children or working to guide their families toward a more plant based lifestyle. Many of the parents I've talked to tend to have the hardest time explaining these changes to their children. Emily is able to speak honestly to children without over stimulating or talking down to them. She believes children are smart and should be treated as such. ABOUT BITE SIZE VEGAN Emily Moran Barwick is an animal liberation activist, artist, educator and the creator of Bite Size Vegan, an ever-expanding free educational resource consisting of a YouTube channel and accompanying website. Her videos range from the very serious and highly researched, to down to earth talks, to using humor to present a very real topic. She’s one of the very few vegan YouTubers who strives to not only educate the plant based community on how to address other but attempts to help the non-plant based to understand the plant based viewpoint. Regardless of the topic Emily presents the information that is passionate, sincere, and with plenty of her own personality. CHECK OUT OUR STORE Interested in getting some awesome CV swag? If you visit Professor Chandler's Facebook Profile Wall, you'll see a combination of posts: images on celebrating black female beauty throughout the diaspora, photos of children and grandchildren with loving comments, messages on healthcare products, news stories about various atrocities happening in America, aphorisms on politics, encouraging Bible scripture and philosopher's messages, videos on historical and political events, particularly related to what he calls "AmeriKKKa's" violent racist history and photos of chemtrails outside of his New Mexico. Many of those messages are shared on his Facebook Page. But, what is the point of all of this? What is the elder professor trying to tell the world, particularly the world of social media dominated by Facebook where people seem to come to tune out? The message is the same as it has been for nearly 55 years of activism through protest art and speech: WAKE UP,  AMERICA! Activism and raging against the machine are acts of self- and human preservation, not just something the socially disaffected do to get media attention. The 99% are all outsiders. So, he is calling out to America--and the world--to engage because tuning out and refusing t o tune in to what is really going on is a recipe for destruction of ALL of our civil rights and liberties, not just those of African Americans. This week, we'll talk about Prof. Chandler's perspective on American activism and the age of social media and why by paying attention to what's all around you, the life you save may be your own. This show is co-hosted and produced by Chandler's daughter and artist agent, Dahna M. Chandler, an award-winning former journalist.
