Antonia Whillans is making her mark as an actor, voice-over artist, and model, while also passionately championing causes as an activist. Her commitment extends to animal rights, human rights, and veganism, considering it a moral imperative to confront oppression and advocate for a world imbued with compassion and kindness towards all living beings. Antonia takes pride in being a prominent face of Vegan Happy, a brand that embodies genuine ethics—promoting kindness to animals, people, and the planet. Wearing the exquisite attire from Vegan Happy allows individuals to make a statement wherever they go. In her dedicated pursuit of aligning work with animal rights activism and veganism, Antonia played a pivotal role in Viva! charity's inaugural television commercial, broadcasted across Channel 4 and associated networks, reaching an impressive 16 million viewers initially and 18 million upon re-airing the following year. Her commitment to raising awareness took a daring turn as she participated in a bold stunt outside Tate Liverpool with the organization Speciesism. Braving freezing temperatures of -3 degrees, she portrayed a human woman being milked, shedding light on the harsh realities of the dairy industry. The stunt garnered substantial attention from media outlets such as The Save Movement, Plantbased News, Vegan FTA UK & Spain, and Liverpool World, ensuring widespread coverage of the impactful demonstration. Antonia further lent her voice to the award-winning documentary 'When Pigs Escape,' narrating the compelling story of Matilda, a pig who defied slaughter, gave birth in a woodland, and eventually found sanctuary amidst public outcry. Currently involved in another documentary titled 'Food for Thought,' focusing on Veganism and currently in post-production, Antonia continues to utilize her platform to shed light on crucial issues. Notably, during London Fashion Week, Antonia graced the runway in vegan cactus leather and gender-neutral footwear designed by Sophie Park, a graduate of the Jimmy Choo Academy, exemplifying her commitment to promoting ethical and sustainable fashion choices. www.veganhappyclothing.co.uk FaceBook @veganhappyclothing Instagram @veganhappyclothing https://linktr.ee/antoniawhillans
I want to be like Ruth when I grow up.. here's why! Ever since going vegan at age 62, Ruth has given the animals her all. An absolute all-star at Edgar's Mission, Ruth retired and began mucking out barns twice a week. It wasn't long before she moved closer to Edgar's and was trusted to transport surrendered animals to the sanctuary and veterinary appointments. Ruth extends her support to other sanctuaries and rescue organisations in Victoria. If that's not enough, Ruth is equally as passionate about activism. Having found activism through Facebook, Ruth joined the Save Movement to participate in rallies and vigils. Recognising the benefit in disrupting activities that exploit animals, Ruth has been involved in disruptions at slaughterhouses, factory farms and a rodeo with Direct Action Everywhere, Meat The Victims, Dominion and most recently Vegan Rising. In this episode, Ruth also chats about abolition vs welfarism, the concept of animal "ownership" and the importance of activists not taking on too much. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002844522819

Are you aware that 20 billion animals are killed each year by the nutritional supplements industry? Maria Cebrian, the founder of the vegan supplement company Terraseed and activist for animals, is leading the Transparent Label Campaign to fight on behalf of these animals. The fact is that approximately 50% of dietary supplements contain animal-derived ingredients. According to a recent study authored by animal protection global organization The Save Movement and Terraseed, supported by a coalition of animal welfare non-profit organizations, there is a lack of transparency in disclosing the animal-derived ingredients or how those inputs are sources. In an industry worth $55 billion, this study identifies the gap of the impact of nutritional supplements on our environment and animals worldwide.

How do you turn your actions as an individual into a global movement? How can we change the world by bearing witness? In this episode of Activist, we talk with the brilliant Anita Krajnc about how she created the Animal Save Movement and how by opening our eyes to the suffering around us, we can help to end it. In 2010 Anita made a promise to a pig on a truck, that she would no longer turn away. From three vigils a week, a movement was founded that would become global. Our chat with Anita was both moving and inspiring. If you want to make a bigger impact for the animals, Anita shares some wonderful advice and paves the way to a brighter future for the animals, the planet and the people. "We want to change the cultural norm so that people don't say anymore that "Oh I don't want to see slaughterhouse footage, it's depressing, it's terrible, I don't want to see that." That's not an answer. Even if it hurts you, even if it causes you trauma we need to share the incredible trauma that animals are suffering in order to change their plight. They suffer trauma from the day they're born until the day they die. All their life they're suffering trauma. They bear witness all their life. We're just breaking witness a tiny bit and it's so devastating because it's so awful what's happening, but we need to do this. if all of us do this, if a community does it instead of one person, then there's more power in it and the situation will change faster. So that's the reason you don't have one person bearing witness, you really need to encourage the entire community to bear witness, because that's what's going to change the world faster." - Anita Krajnc
Richard Oglesby, known as Trikky Oges to his friends, spent most of his life working in industries that exploited animals, until he started a job at Edgar's Mission, which changed his whole life. Trikky began his career in shearing sheds across outback Australia when he was 20 years old. He was a zoo keeper at Adelaide Zoo for seven years and recalls the boredom animals in captivity experienced. Trikky then became a groom at a top cattle stud in Victoria and later a contractor at equestrian centres.Trikky met Pam Ahern, Founder of Edgar's Mission, at a local farmers Markets and was invited to join the Edgar's team in May 2015. Trikky recalls arriving at Edgar's Mission and feeling an overwhelming sense of joy when he was met by Saturday, a special needs Suffolk sheep in a cart. He met all the beautiful residents and recognised their strong will to live. He began to reflect on his food choices and as a result, Trikky went vegetarian at age 68.Trikky's 2018 new years resolution was to go vegan, which he accomplished with the encouragement and support of the Edgar's crew, who supplied him with recipes and meals. Trikky is a testament to it being "never too late to change".Trikky attended a Save Movement rally where Pam was the guest speaker. He then came across an Anonymous for the Voiceless Cube of Truth in Southbank and realised being active for the animals was the next necessary step in his journey. He attended the next Cube event and has been a regular member ever since. In this episode, Trikky shares the importance of learning from each other, going outside your comfort zone for the animals and being a proud example of diversity within the vegan movement. https://www.instagram.com/trikkyoges/https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100031136912915
Before prepping for todays interview I saw the Animal Save Movement as a global network of passionate animal rights activists committed to baring witness outside slaughterhouses with both the knowledge that transparency and truth is the biggest threat to animal agriculture. And also the hope that if slaughterhouse houses had glass walls (or at least an animal vigil at every slaughterhouse) then the world would be vegan. These statements are of course true, ... Youth Climate Save is the first youth climate organization to focus on the link between climate change and animal agriculture. It's time to seriously talk about that connection and what better place to start ... than with our youth. On this episode we are speaking with Greta Cuthell a 17yr old activist from Australia.Greta spent 2 years working at a wildlife sanctuary, which made for a very different high school experience, during that time she saw firsthand effects of climate change. It's was this experience that opened her eyes and she has said it destroyed her while also revealing her calling to being vegan. At one point in our talk Greta shares how being vegan brightens her own day, by knowing that she is not contributing to the suffering of animals. This is but one powerful insight amongst many others from this vibrant and compassionate being. These days, she works with Youth Climate Save, a movement that empowers young people from all over the world to stand up for climate justice and animal justice while also educating others on these pressing issues. Greta's voice lands evocatively on our hearts as she focuses her life on helping to create a more beautiful, just and kind world. as an organizer for Youth Climate Save Victoria you can find Greta on IG @youthclimatesavevictoria and support the plant-based treaty @plantbasedtreaty some of the things we talked about ... * Animal Agriculture * Plant based food system * Veganism * Community Building * Renewable Energy * Being in right relationship with the natural world visit EmergingWorldProject.Org --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/whatareyoudoinghere/message
Tash Peterson went vegan overnight after watching a documentary "Food Choices" on Netflix four years ago. It was a light bulb moment for Tash and she knew she would be vegan for life. Tash wanted to share the vegan message and became involved with animal rights organisations such as Anonymous for the Voiceless, the Save Movement and Direct Action Everywhere. Following involvement with Direct Action Everywhere, Tash decided to conduct her own actions. Her first action was at a local supermarket with a friend, she wore a cow onesie, held a "watch Dominion" sign and mourned animal flesh in the supermarket. The protest was recorded and posted, gaining millions of views and international media attention. Tash recognised the impact of her protests and started holding regular actions on her own. Tash also founded "Tell them the truth" which is a movement inspiring people to conduct their own actions to bring about change. In this episode, Tash provides an insight into what helps her stay motivated, how she handles confrontation and online harassment and advice for anyone interested in animal activism. https://www.instagram.com/vganbooty/https://www.vganbooty.com/
A New Beginning, Livegan RebornTonight we welcome Vegan Activist Alliance (VAA) as our new host. While we will miss our audience and the podcast, we couldn't be happier for the new chapter of Livegan. Thank you all for giving us an amazing three years. We hope that you stay on to listen to the exciting and informative episodes VAA has lined up, and get to know an organization we regard very highly due to our shared vision and values. About the founders: Eloisa Trinidad is a total liberation activist and organizer focusing on animal rights and human rights. She uses her career in business development to work on campaigns for social good, such as The Economist Feeding the Future campaign which aims to get consumers thinking more about environmentally sustainable approaches to food production and consumption by educating them on plant-based foods, reduction of plastic use, and reduction of food waste.Eloisa's path towards activism and veganism started early in life. She was raised by centennials who lived off the land, taught her to be self-sustainable, and passed down much ancestral knowledge to her. This shaped her views of empathy for all Beings, protection of our sacred Earth, and the belief in the healing power of plants. She is Co-founder at Vegan Activist Alliance and serves on the board of directors at Plant Powered Metro NY and on the advisory council at The Vegan Museum. She is NY Chapter President at Hip Hop is Green, a vegan organization that supports the transformation of urban youth and their communities through veganism, music, and the arts. A food justice activist, she focuses on making veganism accessible to communities in need through her work at Chilis on Wheels. Recently, she started pandemic relief efforts that led to providing ongoing assistance to public school students and to hundreds of families across New York City's most impoverished neighborhoods.Eloisa lives in New York City and her favorite food is fruit. She is an artist and a volunteer at Tamerlaine Animal Sanctuary. Tom Wramage is Co-founder at Vegan Activist Alliance, he has been vegan since 2015 and shortly after became an activist. You don’t need to experience trauma to feel depressed. You don’t have to grow up in a certain zip code to be a drug addict, and you don’t have to have obese parents to develop a food addiction. Adam Sud grew up in a comfortable household with a loving family, yet he experienced all of these things. After years of Adderall abuse and excessive consumption of fast-food, Adam tried to commit suicide. Unsuccessful in his attempt, he finally committed to seeking help and discovered the healing powers of the plant-based diet - not just the physical effects, but the mental benefits as well. Adam lost 160 pounds and titrated off all of his medications, including his antidepressants. Now healthy and medication-free, Adam devotes his life to helping others, proving that no matter how far one has fallen, there is always a way out. What we discuss in this episode: - Coping with food as a child - Adderall addiction - Steps to recovery - Losing 160 lbs and becoming a fit marathon runner - Perseverance and trusting the journey - Benefits of a whole foods, plant-based diet - How to change your perspective and set a positive mindset - The Save Movement (@thesavemovement) - The Pleasure Trap Connect with Switch4Good - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQ2toqAmlQpwR1HDF_KKfGg - https://www.facebook.com/Switch4Good/ - https://www.instagram.com/switch4good/ - https://twitter.com/SwitchForGood - switch4good.org

Regan Russell was a beloved, relentless and skilled activist who – for more than forty years – devoted her life to advocating for voiceless animals. But, in an instant, she was silenced, run over and killed, on Friday, June 19th, by a truck packed with pigs as it headed to a slaughterhouse in Burlington, Ontario in Canada. Protests and blockades have now erupted at the spot where Regan was run down, as a scrum of media assembled to hear from the victim's family and fellow animal rights advocates. Save Movement founder Anita Krajnc spoke, promising global mobilization in honor of Regan Russell's life, cut short as she was advocating for compassion to other sentient beings with whom we share this planet.

Did you know that a single slaughterhouse in Canada kills about 10,000 pigs a day? Are you aware that, on average, two hundred pigs are crammed into each animal transport vehicle as they are moved to slaughterhouses? Have you heard why ending animal agriculture will help solve the climate crisis? In this riveting interview, NYK […]
Slaughter Free Cities is a movement that seeks to end the destructive role animal agriculture plays in society. Meat is a leading cause of human disease, climate change and animal suffering. Right now in NYC, Slaughter Free Cities and the Animal Save Movement are coming together with local New York organizers as a unity effort to help Slaughter Free Cities generate widespread impact throughout 2020 and beyond. The Save Movement is based on the moral imperative of bearing witness to suffering and not turning away. Currently, the Save Movement has more than 600 vigils at slaughterhouses around the world. The goal is a vigil at every slaughterhouse on the planet.

Over 150 billion land animals are slaughtered every year for our consumption. If we add in the 2.8 trillion fish, the marine animals, and even bees and silkworms, we’re into the multiple trillions. This is the largest, longest, most bloody holocaust our planet has every seen. There is no question that these animals are sentient–they feel pain, fear and grief, are capable of joy, love and excitement. There is a reason that we separate ourselves from the source of our food–we don’t want to see the terror in the eyes of our “dinner.” [] Our featured guest is Amy Jean Davis – an animal rights advocate and the Founder of LA Animal Save (www.laanimalsave.org), the Los Angeles chapter of the global Save Movement. Originally from a small town in Indiana, Amy came to Los Angeles in 2008 as a top 24 Finalist on season 7 of American Idol. Davis started an animal sanctuary in the Los Angeles, California area. In 2015, she completed her certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from eCornell, and in 2016, Amy founded LA Animal Save, which is now the largest chapter of more than 600 Save groups worldwide. There are many reasons people go vegan–their health, the environment, the social impact–but one reason most people stay vegan: morality and ethics. Veganism challenges the socially ingrained concept that animals are here for our use and questions the ethical validity of this belief system. Most people are self-proclaimed animal-lovers. What most don’t proclaim is that they only love certain animals. We humans, on the whole, place certain species above others and our own species above everyone. This is called speciesism. We love dogs but eat cows. We care for our cats but kill and consume pigs. We may grown up with a pet chicken whom we name and love and care for, yet simultaneously continue to eat other chickens. Why is one being more deserving of life than another? These are the moral and ethical disconnects that veganism resolves. About LA Animal Save: Founded in 2016 by Amy Jean Davis, LA Animal Save () is the largest chapter of the 600+ Save Movement groups around the world. The Save Movement (), which began in Toronto, Canada, bears witness to the suffering and oppression of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animals en route to slaughter. Using a love-based, community-organizing approach, volunteer animal rights advocates hold regular, peaceful vigils at slaughterhouses, live markets, and factory farms in order to be present in the face of animal injustice, raise awareness about the plight of farmed animals, help people to become vegan, and continue to build a grassroots animal justice movement based on the principles of animal equality and freedom. In this episode, Kathy Stevens and Anita Krajnc discuss: The catalyst for why she changed from vegetarianism to veganism and decided to establish Toronto Pig Save. How Anita built a worldwide movement in part by studying the strategies of Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King. What Kathy learned from her participation in pig and cow vigils. Why vegans must begin to talk about climate chaos. The Greta Effect and how vegans can make a direct change. Key Takeaways: If you stage frequent, direct actions, you can build a movement that way. We need to be eco-vegans, not just vegans. Going vegan is an essential part of the climate control solution. We are all in this together: there is no enemy. “As animal lovers, we need to sacrifice to help them." – Anita Krajnc Connect with Anita Krajnc: Twitter: @thesavemovement Facebook: The Save Movement Website: TheSaveMovement.org YouTube: The Save Movement Instagram: @thesavemovement Connect with Kathy Stevens: Facebook: facebook.com/kathy.stevens.CAS,facebook.com/catskillanimalsanctuary Twitter: twitter.com/CASanctuary/ Books: https://store.casanctuary.org/collections/books/products/where-the-blind-horse-sings Website: Catskill Animal Sanctuary Instagram: instagram.com/catskill_animal_sanctuary/ YouTube: www.youtube.com/user/CASanctuary
Learn why going vegan is incredible for not only your health, but the health of your children and the planet. So much of what we learn about nutrition in school and through campaigns by the meat and dairy industry is wrong. In a country where the most prescribed drug is Prilosec, clearly we are not eating in alignment with what our bodies actually need and want. In this episode you will learn the incredible health benefits of going vegan, and how it can eradicate world hunger, global warming, and gross abuses against animals. Whatever your core interest in veganism may be, you will definitely want to hear what Amy has to say. Activism is often marked by speaking up for the voiceless, and that starts by bearing witness to suffering. These are two of the cornerstones of Jane Velez-Mitchell's mission with Jane UnChained, a digital news network dedicated to reporting on animal rights, climate change, food justice, and living cruelty-free. Jane is a former news anchor, two-time Emmy winner, and four-time author with two New York Times Best Sellers to her name, including iWant: My Journey from Addiction and Overconsumption to a Simpler, Honest Life. Her news network has grown to 70 global contributors who provide breaking animal rights news, live coverage of demonstrations, and daily Lunchbreak Live recipes. She joins us today to dig into the social conditioning of our diets, her story of overcoming addiction, and the importance of breaking social contracts for a more compassionate world. What we discuss in this episode: - How social conditioning impacts our diet - The power of bearing witness and Anita Krajnc’s Save Movement - The two words from Howard Lyman that convinced Jane to make the switch for good - Jane’s story of addiction and overcoming alcoholism - The cycle of addiction, why we attach our happiness to what we consume, and why diets don’t work - How animal agriculture affects climate change, and why the media is afraid to cover it - The origins of Jane UnChained and how it grew to over 70 contributors - Why you need to tune into Lunchbreak Live and an absolutely delicious vegan cheese and cranberry pastry recipe - Breaking the social contract by confronting a lack of compassion when you see it - Follow Jane on Instagram at @janeunchainednews or on Twitter at @JVM, and on the Jane UnChained website at janeunchained.com. Recently the Los Angeles Times did an amazing article on the Save Movement in general and the Los Angeles pig vigils in particular. Written by Gustavo Arellano, it decribed strangers offering water, love and comfort to the doomed pigs. The Save Movement is comprised of groups around the world who bear witness of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animals en route to slaughter. Our goals are to raise awareness about the plight of farmed animals, to help people become vegan, and to build a mass-based, grassroots animal justice movement. The Save Movement started in December 2010 with the inception of Toronto Pig Save. Today there are more than 600 vigil groups around the world. We encourage you to bear witness to animals sent to slaughter in your own community. Find out if there is a Save group near you or consider starting a Save group. I chat with Cheryl Sobie, founding member of Manitoba Animal Save, about the Save Movement, activism as a whole, and veganism in general.
Anita Kranjc is living proof that one person can create earth shattering impact, because that is exactly what she did when she made global headlines after being arrested in 2015. She was charged with criminal mischief for giving water to thirsty pigs on their way to the slaughterhouse. And after two years awaiting trial, she was acquitted. Her case attracted media from all over the world and brought global attention to her movement, The Toronto Pig Save – which has spawned The Save Movement: numerous Animal Saves that take place all over the planet. Each save group is shows up to their local slaughterhouse once, twice, or three times a week and bears witness to cows, pigs, chickens, fish, even whales and horses on their way to slaughter. But it all started with one woman, Anita and her dog Mr. Beans. In 2010, she was living near a slaughterhouse in Toronto. Everyday as she walked the dog, she’d see the truckloads of terrified pigs being driven to the slaughterhouse. She wondered why no one was doing anything, and six months later, she formed the Toronto pig save, which began as a small group of people that stood vigil outside of the slaughterhouse, three times a week. As the trucks pull into the slaughterhouse gates, they have to stop at a red light. Anita and her group (and most Save groups around the world) give water to the thirsty animals, who are often on the trucks for as long as 36 hours and are not fed nor given any water in that time. When they finally arrive they are often insane with thirst (plus, a little water is the only act of compassion that these animals ever receive in their entire miserable lives). Even in the beginning, with a tiny group of activists bearing witness, Anita had big ideas for the movement. She wanted and still wants all slaughterhouses to have glass walls and watching the pigs being driven into a single slaughterhouse in Toronto was a first step. Since her arrest, the Save movement has grown into more than 330 groups in countries all over the world, including Canada, the US, Mexico, The UK, most countries in Europe, Central and South America, all over Asia, and Africa. It truly is a global movement and her goal, to see inside and bear witness to all of the slaughterhouses in the world is becoming a reality. She is exactly why we all need to Dream BIG. She is a force. I met Anita in Toronto. The day before we met, I’d been at an all day vigil at with the Toronto Pig Save. It was my first vigil and I had no idea know what to expect. On one hand, seeing live six month old animals in abject terror, packed into truck after truck was horrifically sad and way more real than I had anticipated. But there were also many wonderful moments throughout the day. The people were kind and generous and incredibly good to me and to one another. By the time the 2nd or 3rd truck pulled in, I felt like a part of the community. I didn’t really understand the power of what it meant to bear witness until that day. I don’t think you can know what it is until you do it - it’s so much bigger than I could have possibly imagined. I felt changed by the end of the day. Depressed yes but it also gave me enormous feelings of hope and connection. I’ve been vegan for a few years, but seeing animals being driven inside to their death is a whole different beast. It made me question everything that we are doing as humans to all of the other species on earth. I think it’s because you can’t deny or compartmentalize when there are living beings right there in front of you. I met Anita and Mr. bean at her home the following day. She is an inspiration and an example to all of us that one person can indeed create a tremendous impact.

Anita Kranjc is the original founder of The Save Movement, which is a collection of groups around the world who bear witness of pigs, cows, chickens and other farmed animals en route to slaughter. The goals are to raise awareness about the plight of farmed animals, help people become vegan, and build a stronger, grassroots animal justice movement. On June 22, 2015 Anita Kranjc gave water to pigs in a slaughter truck on the way to Fearman's Pork slaughterhouse, which is located in Burlington, Ontario just outside of Toronto. On June 23, 2015, the owner of the farm who technically still owned the pigs at the time Anita gave them water, filed a criminal case against Anita. On September 9, 2015, Krajnc was charged with criminal mischief, the penalty for which ranges from a fine to 10 years in prison. This is the second in a special series of episodes recapping the 2017 DxE Forum! This episode is all about The Save Movement and sanctuaries. I have the absolute pleasure of talking with Anita Krajnc about the future collaboration between DxE and Save, and then Rachel Hipp and I talk about animal care and The Microsanctuary Movement. Plus, a fun musical interlude from the Forum Talent Show!
Together Amy and Billy started the Cleveland chapter of the Save Movement, the Cleveland Farmed Animal Save. They are two of the kind souls who dedicate their time to expose what the animal agriculture industry doesn't want you to see, working to connect the disconnect between animals in farms and photos and animals on our plates. Recently Amy & Billy came back from bearing witness at Anita Krajnc, of Toronto Pig Save's, final court date. This duo does all of this with love and positivity, citing a strict 'non violent' stance in their work. In this episode Amy & Billy share their experience with Anita's 'pig trial', how they work to chisel away at the idea that animals are property, and their response to Gary Francione's opinion that save movements aren't helpful to veganism. Plus they give some helpful advice on why a non violent approach can deescalate any situation.
