This Lukan fable has a pretty clear message: Wealth creates an impassable crevasse between humans. Wealth is only one of the many things that can create impassable crevasses between people; so too can race and religion and immigration status, to name a few more. But I have to believe the fable is ultimately meant to inspire us to bridge crevasses before it's too late. This sermon will take you to the midnight bedroom of Ebenezer Scrooge, to the summit of Mt. Rainier (aka “mama Tahoma”), to a jail cell in Durham NC, and to an Executive Board decision of some uncharacteristically speedy Mennonites. Buckle up and come along for the ride; we need one another more than ever. And please remember: I do not answer questions. I do not answer questions. I do not answer questions. We keep each other safe, beloveds.Sermon begins at minute marker 5:22Luke 16.19-31ResourcesBibleWorm podcast: Episode 633 - The Rich Man and Lazarus, Amy Robertson and Robert Williamson, Jr'Crevice' and 'Crevasse': A Gap in Meaning, Merriam-Webster.Anabaptist Community BibleNew release: “MC USA and more than two dozen Christian and Jewish denominations and associations sue to protect religious freedoms,” February 11, 2025.Isaac Samuel Villegas, Migrant God: A Christian Vision for Immigrant Justice (Eerdmans, 2025), 6-8.Front Light podcast, by Mennonite Action, “From ‘quiet in the land' to suing the US Government, reflections on Mennonite advocacy with Iris de León-Hartshorn,” Season 1, Episode 4 (2025). The fact that we cannot save everything does not mean we cannot save anything and everything we can save is worth saving. You may need to grieve or scream or take time off, but you have a role no matter what, and right now good friends and good principles are worth gathering in. Remember what you love. Remember what loves you. Remember in this tide of hate what love is. The pain you feel is because of what you love.”Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol, 1843.Image: Ladder bridging crevasse on Mt. Fetus John the Baptist knew exactly who Jesus was, according to Luke. Adult John the Baptist sends emissaries to ask Jesus who he is. Jesus does not answer John's question, but rather instructs the question-askers to simply report what they see and what they hear. It seems that, according to Jesus, his identity must be shown, enacted, embodied for it to be real. Similarly, our Anabaptist faith has a centuries-long history of being done, enacted, embodied. Our faith is a lived faith and has traditionally been proclaimed more in deed than in word. This is why the decision of our denomination to be the named plaintiff in a lawsuit against the Dept. of Homeland Security (Mennonite Church USA et al. v. United States Department of Homeland Security et al.) is completely in line with our 500-year history of following Jesus. Because our faith IS caring for our neighbor. So when the U.S. Government tries to prevent us from doing that, the free exercise of our religion is compromised and we must resist.Sermon begins at minute marker 6:18Luke 7:18-35ResourcesBibleWorm podcast: Episode 626 – Are You Really the One?, Amy Robertson and Robert Williamson, JrIris de León-Hartshorn, “Our Anabaptist Witness as Mennonites,” (theological basis for legal action taken by Mennonite Church USA - see link below) February 12, 2025.“MC USA and more than two dozen Christian and Jewish denominations and associations sue to protect religious freedoms,” February 11, 2025.Mary H. In this episode of Push To Be More, host Matt Edmundson chats with Andrew Hartshorn, an expert in helping businesses prepare for exit. They discuss the challenges of selling a business, the importance of work-life balance, and how the definition of success changes with age. Andrew shares insights on achieving freedom through business and the value of enjoying the journey rather than just focusing on the destination.---Timestamps:0:00 Intro5:08 If you could interview anyone, who would it be?10:50 From business owner to exit expert16:14 The emotional side of business exits29:53 Defining growth as freedom41:05 Success vs significance46:09 Outro and contact information---Key Takeaways:1. Prioritise Freedom Over Wealth:Andrew highlights the importance of valuing freedom and time over mere financial gain. He states, "Most people want money, but they don't realise the reason they want wealth is because that will give them the freedom to do what they want." This underscores the idea that true success is about having the liberty to choose how you spend your time, rather than just accumulating wealth.2. Prepare for Business Exit Early:Andrew advises business owners to get their businesses ready for sale well in advance. He mentions, "Get your business ready for sale so you can sell it when you're ready. You've got to put that effort in beforehand." This preparation not only ensures a smoother transition but also provides peace of mind and freedom when the time comes to exit.3. Embrace the Journey, Not Just the Destination:Andrew encourages enjoying the process rather than solely focusing on end goals. He notes, "A lot of people always focus on the end result... And you can lose five years doing that." By taking time to reflect and appreciate the journey, individuals can find greater satisfaction and avoid losing years to relentless pursuit of future targets.---If this episode of Push to be More piqued your interest make sure to keep up to date with everything we do here on the Push to be More Podcast.

AT OUR AGE: Kick butt WOMEN AUTHORS I am always thrilled when I find women who are bucking the system in their 60's and older. I feel this way because two women, Rosalind Severin McClean and Patt O'Neil are very different writers. Yet they are women of a certain age in their 60's and seventies. They have chosen the literary paths to share tales, poetry, idea. In turn they show the world that us seniors still have a lot to offer. Ms. McClean has four titles of note: OCEANS of THOUGHTS Book one, Two and Three. Her latest publicatio, Book Four, is a charming and adventurous children's book: The Little Pianist. The illustrations are colorful, eye-catching and will keep the attention of toddlers to young readers. Perfect holiday gift and the family can help read along to the young children . At first glance, one would think that Patt O'Neil's genre is Westerns. Not so. She has a natural talent for story telling. Taking us to places as varied as Venice and Cornwall, readers get a flavor of intrigues and mystery. Her two recent works are collections of short stories: TWO SIDES of the SAME COIN: In-between stories of SHERLOCK HOLMES and John WATSON. Readers will taste the difference between water starved deserts, steep canyons unforgiving heat and as Patt O'Neil told me, people share the traits of moving through challenges, issues and problems until they all resolve in their best manner. This repeat upload is in tribute to one of the participating guests who passed away in Jun 2024. Mark Hartshorn was not only a talented medium, and counselor, but a family man who cared for all. We were very grateful to Mark and his sister for agreeing to appear on our show. Mark appears here with Andy and Neil back in Sept 2022 with his sister Jayne Hartshorn discussing how they came by their mediumship abilities. We send our condolences to Jayne, and Mark's family and friends.Original program description as follows: Mediums Mark and Jayne Hartshorn who can communicate with the afterlife or another world of existence, are the guests of Neil and Andy this Sept on the Paranormal Peep Show. If you want to skip to that section in particular, bypass the intro and chat about the death of Queen Elizabeth, and go to about 12 mins in.Mark and Jayne Hartshorn were brought up in various haunted houses such as in Brighton and Hove, Plymouth and Wales and kept seeing spirits of the previous house owners, such as old Sea Captains and Black Smiths and spooky shadows crossing along the wall, along with loud bangs across the ceiling etc. Jayne and Mark went on to visit spiritualist churches and demonstrations, where they were impressed by the skill and accuracy of the mediums involved. They were afforded an opportunity to develop their natural mediumistic skills and went on to become full working mediums, both as a partnership and individually. In this show, we discuss their history, how they developed as mediums and the various haunted houses they lived in. Also, we discuss the communications involved with spirits of another world. How do they receive their messages? How Spirits try to get their communications through to us. Why are some places haunted and why does decorating suddenly cause manifestations of phenomena? Why do Spirits send us messages about Smith Crisps? In part 2, we delve into more corporate worlds, rather than spirit worlds, but ask why we were told to have medical interventions from big Pharma during the Pandemic? Was there something more behind it? What does the New World Order have to do with this all and are the dark forces gathering pace? Was David Icke right all along? With your regular hosts Neil and Andy, and in part one, we are additionally joined by Monica. United Sovereign Americans, in conjunction with various Pennsylvania voters, represented by Bruce Castor Jr of van der Veen, Hartshorn, Levin, & Lindheim, has filed a federal lawsuit against the State of Pennsylvania, various Commonwealth officials, the United States Department of Justice, and United States Attorney General Merrick Garland regarding errors in the results of the 2022 general election in Pennsylvania which rendered the results unreliable.Petitioners assert that, “Congress set minimum standards for every federal election to be considered reliable. In Pennsylvania's 2022 federal election those minimum standards were not met by Commonwealth election officials...” Citing hundreds of thousands of errors in the registration records resulting in significant numbers of uncertain votes, as well as a discrepancy of over 9,000 more votes tabulated than voters who voted, the lawsuit describes the situation in no uncertain terms.Subscribe to Freedom First Network on Rumble to watch all of our shows LIVE at https://freedomfirst.tv.Protect your financial future with precious metals! In this chapter of the Book of the Dead, we partnered with CJ from Beyond the Rainbow-True Crimes of The LGBT to bring you the story of the Unsolved Murder of Kaylene Oehling on the anniversary of her disappearance. Kaylene Oehling was a 19-year-old Bi-sexual woman who had recently found out she was pregnant when she disappeared on January 10th, 2020 after going to meet her, much older, ex-boyfriend, Michael Manno, to get some of her personal belongings back. That would be the last time anyone would see Kaylene alive. What would follow would be a 3-year-long fight by her father, Jason, to find his daughter, and make sure the man who killed his daughter is brought to justice.Follow Beyond the Rainbow here: https://beyondtherainbowpodcast.comListen Here Connect with us on Social Media! You can find us at:Patreon: The Book of the Dead PodcastInstagram: @bookofthedeadpodX: @bkofthedeadpodFacebook: The Book of the Dead PodcastTikTok: BookofthedeadpodOr visit our website at www.botdpod.com Don't forget to Rate, Review, & Share with someone who would like the PodcastFor a full list of resources, please send us an email :)Promo for: Weird True CrimeWelcome to your weekly source for the weirdest, most questionable cases in true crime. Pinata of Troy - Cosmic Bos Now that is one massive bowl of crispy chicken soup for the soul, this is the bit of the podcast write up where we would usually announce the next theme, but technically there isn't one. However, as we have already decided that we're coming back next year to do Monthly Music Challenge 2, we offer up a little winter challenge for the keen and eager. In Janurary, Cosmic Bos will do a 'MMC 2.0 intro' episode, to reintroduce the idea for next year, and give peeps the month of Jan to jam their themed jam. If you want to get in ahead of the game a bit, then we will spin on the show any 'intro's' you wish to make for your MMC2 album. We will make one, probably use it to double up as a theme tune for MMC2 podcast, not sure yet. But anyway, you have until the beginning of 2024 to send us any intros you wish, we will play them in the MMC 2.0 ep, keep 'em short, they are just intro's. With the year coming to close in a short while, we are going to do the Monthly Music Challenge awards for year 1, if you have taken part this year you are in the runnings for an award, we will split it into two parts, with a Gold and Silver version of each award, maybe, still pondering it to be honest. If you wanted to vote for your favourite songs from any of the previous episodes, please drop a comment on the youtube vid for the coresponding episode, we will listen to your advice, or at least read and like the comment. Please like, share and subscribe to Cosmic Bos on youtube, we do video work too for your eyeballs. Cosmic Bos on YouTube All that's left to say is a massive thank you to all the artists that have contributed to the MMC over 2023, and all you amazing listeners who have support this project, we really love you and it's been an absolute delight to build this community of creativity. Please comment on the MMC, it really helps spread the word and share the music far and wide. Peace and infinite love Cosmic Bos P.S - Big Mic will return if you ask for him

Welcome to the Monthly Music Challenge with Cosmic Bos Podcast (the MMC) This is Episode 1.8 Dreams Join Nick and Andy (Cosmic Bos) as we delve deep into dreamland, listening for clue as to if this is a wonderful dream we have found ourselves in, or a twisted nightmare from which we can not escape! With the world in the questionable state it is currently in, it only seemed right to let the musicians of the MMC explore the internal space, where the mind is allowed to explore freely, to ponder the more existential elements of our shared experience, it could all, the whole darn lot of everything everywhere, be a dream, or a simulation, or even just the passing thoughts of an interdimentional hyper disco chicken cruising the open rainbow road! Who knows? Well not us, but maybe some answers lie in the music of this months music challenge. So prepare to explore the world of Dreams with the musical stylings of Mobidextrous, Man of Arun, Notehead, TexMex Shaman (& StonerJazz), Tonal Drift, Andrew Hartshorn, A Sea Warren, Michel Debois, Chemical Shift (Broken Nomads), Peter Hawkey, Hellwaddler, John Serrano and your hosts Cosmic Bos, as well as a special presentation by the supergroup collaboration of Hartshorn, Jackson, Jackson and Warren! What more could you ask for? Cosmic Bos put out our tracks as an EP on all good sites, but they also put it out on bandcamp where you can exchange money for music, it's a clever system that was developed by Gnomes a long time ago, but it seems to still be working to this very day. Here is the link to our EP, it has an alternative cover on BC too! https://cosmicbos.bandcamp.com/album/mmc-18-dreams You can also find several of the tracks in the show on Bandcamp or soundcloud or YouTube, depends where the amazing artists post them. Please support these awesome indie artists by visiting, listening and possibly even buying their music on Bandcamp. I know for a fact that John Serrano's track 'Crisp' is available on Bandcamp and you probably all should buy it, as well as HJJ&W's track too (from the 22nd September). Super outergalactic shout out to Only the Host and his amazing team, we love you guys and gals. And the Music Weeklies peeps too, keeping new music fresh on the internet. The next theme for the Monthly Music Challenge is our 9th one, and it is #SuperSpectacular, that's MMC 1.9 - SuperSpectacular Send your mp3's with a little write up about the song (and a bio about yourself if you haven't been on the show already) to cosmicbos@gmail.com You have until the 6th of October to get your SuperSpectacular songs to us for inclusion, we still have the late Subs section so if you wish to submit something under any of our previous themes then you can and we might play it in the Late Subs portion of the episode. SuperSpectacular will be the penultimate episode of MMC1, with only a final, as yet unknown theme, to go with MMC 1.10, but feel free to submit anything from the Late Sub category whenever you like. If you have played along all year, or are considering going back to take on the challenge, then on completion you will have a 10 track album, and that's pretty winning in our kindles. Please take the time to comment, follow, share, subscribe to all the amazing artists featured on the show, and buy their music, it's absolutely worth every smeckle, the least you can do is leave a comment, and comments make artists feel validated, so pwease, pwease, pwease we beg you, leave a comment or two to feed our dopimine addictions. Here is the full MMC 1.8 Dreams tracklist: 1. Could This All Be A Dream? - Cosmic Bos @CosmicBos 2. Confounding Dream (single) - Mobidextrous 3. Nothing But a Dream - Man of Arun 4. https://hartshornjacksonjacksonwarren.bandcamp.com The offices of Hartshorn, Jackson, Jackson & Warren (HJJ&W) present to you the minutes from the quarterly review meeting conducted by the visual promotional media department in late July 2023. Due to time constrainted the video department would like to offer their appologies for being unable to meet the deadlines set by the record label Monochrome Motif, providing neither the promotional visual material for the single 'Playing Office' or the subsequent planned singles 'The Canvasser' and 'Repressent Me', all tracks featured on the Debut album by Hartshorn, Jackson, Jackson & Warren 'Sound Investments'. As the album release is imminent (4th August 2023) it has been decided to package the minutes from our meeting as a preview podcast to provide some insight into the process of making an album in a month from 4 seperate locations across the United Kingdom, as well as showcase a cross section of the material contained on 'Sound Investments'. The album 'Sound Investments' will be available to purchase in CD form from bandcamp from the 4th August 2023, and it contains 11 tracks all built in the month of May for the Lights and Lines album writing club competition. The single 'Playing Office' was part of the Album Writing Club 2023 playlist and can be found here Playing Office by HJJ&W on Soundcloud The album was unsuccessful in securing any recognition from the competition, but due to business planning the partners had managed to secure a release for the album with Monochrome Motif. Monochrome Motif on Bandcamp It should be noted for the minutes that Andrew Hartshorn is both the 'Hartshorn' in HJJ&W AND the CEO of Monochrome Motif records, placing him in a fortuatous position for negotiating the release of 'Sound Investments'. https://hartshornjacksonjacksonwarren.bandcamp.com Contained within this preview podcast: Radio promotional material no.23 Playing Office The Canvasser Represent Me Radio promotional material no.42 Within the preview podcast you will find this extensive sample of the album. Including recordings from the progress discussions with Andrew Hartshorn and Al Warren, Cosmic Bos (Nick and Andy Jackson) guide you through the wonderful world of modern office life as musicians trying to juggle the responsibilities of existence. All tracks written, performed & produced by Hartshorn, Jackson, Jackson & Warren. Thank you for you time, and please consider purchasing this album in all seriousness. The visual marketing department wil be placed on Incentive Plans to ensure the completion of their assignments, and the Partners of HJJ&W do not wish the incompetencies of this department to reflect negatively on the company as a whole. This Quarterly review meeting has been made available by Andy Jackson & Nick Jackson, for the public records, under the Monthly Music Challenge with Cosmic Bos Podcast label. For more details on all the partners of HJJ&W please refer to the Monthly Music Challenge in which they all participate. Please like, share and transcribe Kind Regards Cosmic Bos (Andy & Nick Jackson)
